Aug. 7: "I ditten go to school and we drawed in rye in the feild by the barn and father cut the swail in the oats feild up by the house and father and I cut some weeds in the forenoon and in the afternoon we drawed some rye in the feild by the barn and father and glenroy went over to get the hay in the swail over by the little hay barn and I raked after and after supper we had a thunder shower and glenroy helped us about all day"

Sept. 24: "I helped father to carry up slate for to put on the barn and they are a slateing it and at night I went down to bedlam with father and Jim went down with us part way and I helped to do the choirs at night and mourning and it is a nice warm day pretty cloudy though part of the day and they got about one quarter of it done and father and Jim bought a pair of specks"

Sept. 28: "I helped father to carry up a few slate and they have got the barn slated now and at night I went up to Harvey Reynolds to get a painting brush to paint round and I went down to uncle Daves to get our bags and at night John  Henry and I went down to glenroys and Henry cut his hair and I helped to do the choirs at night and morning and it is a nice pleasent day pretty warm though"

Sept. 29: "I picked quiet a lot of apples and emma helped me and they for the hogs and pigs and father went out to fort edward to get a nother load of lumber and in the afternoon grandma and orrie came over and I helped to do the choirs at night and morning and it rained a lot pretty cloudy though all day about pretty cool to part of the day"

Sept. 30: "I helped father to cut his corn in the afternoon and we got it all cut and mr hail came and done some work for pa and he got all though in the forenoon and I helped the carpenters to lay flore up stairs and I helped to do the choirs at night and morning and it rained quiet a lot pretty cloudy though about all day pretty cool to and I carried most of the bick for the masen"

Oct. 2: "I helped father and henry to lay some flore in the forenoon and in the afternoon we commenced digging some potatoes and we had a thunder shower to and at night father and I went down to bedlam and when we came back along we stopped  to Jay barkleys saw mill to get a load of saw dust and I helped to do the choirs in the morning"

Oct. 3: "I helped father to pick and dig potatoes up on the hill in the forenoon and in the afternoon we drawed 2 loads of earleyrare over from that feild wher the little hay barn is and henry helped father to all day and we upset the last load and at night I went down to prayer meeting with father and it is a nice cool day and I helped to do the choirs at night and morning"

Oct. 4: "I went to church with father and emma and herd a sermon by Mr wiley and eliza and annie stayed at home and kep house and it is a nice cool day pretty cloudy though  most of the day and I helped to do the choirs at night and morning and I read some in the testiment and at night I herd or asked the questions"

Oct. 5: "I helped father to dig potatoes about all day and pick to and we dug about 80 bu and henry helped pa all day to and pa and henry went over yonder and got about 29 bu of earley rare about night and it is a nice pleasent day but it is a little bit cloudy though and I helped to do the choirs at night and morning and at night I watched John and henry paint some winder sash"

Oct. 6: "I helped father to dig and pick potatoes about all day and  emma and annie picked up in the afternoon and henry helped pa all day and we dug 80 bu and we got one load from over yonder about night and it is a nice cool day pretty cloudy though most all of the day and I helped to do the choirs at night and morning and glenroy is a digging  six potatoes all of the time I believe now"

Oct. 18: "I stayed at home with father and annie and eliza went over to the cross road and got a ride with grandpas folks and last friday emma went over to grandpas and she came home with eliza and I read some in the mesenger and some in the testament and I read the childs paper through and I helped to do the choirs at night and morning and it is pretty cloudy all day"
