            Sun. Jan 1: " A Happy New Year. We did’nt go to church so stayed at home & kept house and it is a cold day indeed & windy too below zero in the morning & at night too it snowed some last night I think"

            Mon. Jan 2: " In the morning I took our cutter over to Will Randles to get a new pair of shoes on it & left it I took the big sleigh but it is’nt very good sleighing the Scotch boys came up & threshed oats & at night we cleaned them up 37 bu. and in the afternoon I sorted a few potatoes & chored around and it is a very cold day but pleasant some warmer at night the ground is nearly all covered with snow now."

            Tues. Jan 3: " In the morning after I done the chores I drove out to Fort Edward & took the cars for Glens Falls & got some money for potatoes of Lincoln & seen my lawyer & got this diary & 2 Hobby Horses for the children & the Scotch boys threshed oats all day & at night we cleaned them up 45 bu. and it is a nice pleasant day not so cold to day moderating."

            Wed. Jan 4: " In the forenoon Billy came over & I went down to the lower house & helped him to remove some hay & stalks & old stuff & to clean out the house & he helped me to chore around & in the afternoon I took what oats I borrowed of Johnnie up home and Billy went with me we took a sleigh but their was no sleighing & the Scotchmen threshed oats all day & at night we cleaned them up 40 bu. and it is a very cloudy day rained a little & thawed a little"

            Thur. Jan 5: " In the morning I chored around and Everett Williamson came over & we went down to Argyle & got a little business done and came back he stopped for dinner and at night a pedler Goldberg stayed all night and Mr. & Mrs. Alex Powell came down & spent the evening & it rained a lot last night I think the snow is almost gone & it is pretty muddy to day but at night it got colder & frooze up again. The Scotchmen went home"

            Fri. Jan 6: " In the morning we done quite a lot of trading with the pedlar Goldberg I got a leather coat & a Suit of clothes & Georgia got a new dress & a skirt & a Jacket & some other things and in the forenoon I chored around & in the afternoon we drove up the Johnnies & then down to West Hebron & took a Jar of Butter & done some trading and then came home we took a wagon & it was hard traveling it snowed all day & pretty hard part of the time it turned to rain at night but frooze as it came it must of snowed about 5 inches guess not very cold looks like sleighing this time."

            Sat. Jan 7: " In the forenoon I sorted a few potatoes & chored around at one thing and another and put up a grist and in the afternoon I took the grist down to Argyle Elgin Butter & Cheese Factory they made cheese of butter last year according to the test & sold 29630 # of Butter and Elected new officers & done some other business Expenses of carrying on the factory for the year was $1217 all told but $100 It is a nice pleasant day only rather windy & cold."

            Sun. Jan 8: " We did’nt go to church so we stayed at home & kept house all day and after dinner Glenroy & Joe came up a little while and it is a nice pleasant day only cold & some windy too nice sleighing now."

            Mon. Jan 9: " In the morning I got up early & done the chores & then I loaded up a load of potatoes and took them out to Fort Edward to Halpin a Jew 44 bu at 43¢ per bu and it was nice in the morning about 32º or freezing but it got colder after I started awhile & kept getting colder fast too it was only 8º above zero at night the Scotch boys came up & threshed oats all day & we cleaned up at night about 40 bu."

            Tues. Jan 10: " In the forenoon the Scotch boys threshed oats & they got all done & we cleaned them up 20 bu they was 364 bu altogether and in the afternoon We all went up to Johnnies & found nobody at home and then I or we came back by Will Randle's & I got my cutter it was done and the Scotchmen rode with us and then we came home & it is a very cold day  8º below zero at night it was zero all day in the shade I guess."

            Wed. Jan 11: " In the forenoon I sorted a few potatoes & chored around and it is very cold & in the afternoon I went over to the church to the Annual meeting I took Georgia & the children over to Martins & after the meeting was out I went down to West Hebron & got Orrie & Eva & they drove up & got Georgia & the children & I came home from the turn a foot & it is a nice pleasant day only very cold 3º below zero at night."

            Thur. Jan 12: " In the morning I got up early and done the chores & then we all went out to Fort Edward and I went on up to Sandy Hill and done some trading & went to the Bank & got some money and we got back to Argyle about 2 o'clock & stopped at Glenroys & I paid my taxes and $38.40 & we got home before sundown awhile & it is a nice pleasant day only very cold but no wind It was 40º below yesterday morning in places."

            Fri. Jan 13: " In the morning I got up early & done the chores & then took Orrie & Eva down home at West Hebron then I went on up to West Pawlet after a load of slate & could’nt get any Second quality there & had to go on to a nother quarry & found some at $     a Square 24 X 14. 3½  Square & I got home about 4 o'clock and it is not so good sleighing up that way as it is around here & it is a pretty cloudy day & cool but warmer then it has been at night I sorted a few potatoes."

            Sat. Jan 14: " It rained nearly all day & pretty hard too part of the day it quit at noon but did’nt freeze any. the sleighing is getting thin in places and it is very sloppy. We all went over to Everett's a visiting & had a wet ride or it rained hard on us going over & part way back at night & morning I sorted a few potatoes."

            Sun. Jan 15: " I went to church & I heard a sermon by Mr. Willard McEachron & his text was  in 3 different places Isaiah Matthew & Hebrews and the children & Georgia stayed at home & kept house & after dinner Glenroy & Joe came up awhile & about night Billy came over awhile & it is a pretty cloudy day & warm the sleighing is poor icy."

            Mon. Jan 16: " In the morning Billy came over & we went at cutting & drawing up wood from up in the back woods & we drawed it up in sleigh lengths and Billy chopped it & I helped some & drawed it up and we got up 7 small loads & it is a warm day & rather cloudy it thawed quite a lot & the sleighing is getting thin in places."

            Tues. Jan 17: " In the morning Billy came over & we thought it was to wet to cut wood & we went over to the hay barn & got the roof what was on it of the hay and drawed 2 small loads over to the barn and the horses was so dull & slipped so that we had to quit & in the afternoon I took the team up to Weirs & got them shawd or sharpened & then sorted potatoes awhile & it is nasty weather it rained last night but got colder at night."

            Wed. Jan 18: " In the morning I chored around and then we all went over the church to a Congregational Dinner & drove down by West Hebron & got Roscoes dress at Orries and we got home about 4 o'clock & had a good time we went in a sleigh but mostly wagons the sleighing is poor at night I sorted a few potatoes."

            Thur. Jan 19: " In the morning I got up early & done the chores & Billy came over & we drawed the rest of the hay over from the hay barn to the big barn 9 loads & it took us all day & we were busy too it was wet in places to the bottom and it is a nice day pleasant & clear but cold we drawed it on a wagon some sleighs going yet."

            Fri. Jan 20: " In the morning I got up early & done the chores & then loaded up a load of potatoes on sleighs & then took them out to Glens Falls at 45¢ & it was pretty poor sleighing part of the way to Argyle & I got home a little after dark and it is a nice pleasant day. clear but did’nt rain much."

            Sat. Jan 21: " In the morning I done the chores & chored around & then we all went down to Orries at West Hebron a visiting and we went in a wagon mostly wagons and we got home about night and it is a nice warm day pleasant & clear at night it looks like a storm & I sorted a few potatoes."

            Sun. Jan 22: " We all went to church & we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron and his text was in Hebrews & we came home at noon and it is a nice pleasant day clear thawed some not very much rather icy we went in a wagon mostly all wagons now."

            Mon. Jan 23: " Billy came over in the morning & we went at cutting & drawing wood for him & we got up 7 loads and I drawed it & helped Billy to chop some & at noon we went over to the hay barn & got a load of oat straw that was under the hay a good big load. We drawed the wood with a sleigh pretty fair sleighing most of the way and it is a beautiful day clear & warm too it thawed quite a lot."

            Tues. Jan 24: " In the morning I got up early & done the chores & then put on a load of potatoes & started for Glens Falls & it came on rain a little while after I started so I left the load at Fort Edward 43 bu at 43 cts per bu and it was a very nasty rainy day not very cold & I got home about 2½ o'clock and it rained nearly all day cooler at night."

            Wed. Jan 25: " In the forenoon I took a load of Dry wood down to West Hebron to Mrs. Watson for Sofette Smart & in the afternoon I took a nother small load making a cord at $3.50 per cord and it snowed last night & frooze into the mud & made very good sleighing and it is a nice pleasant day clear & thawed a little. At night I went up to Theodore Gilchrists on business."

            Thur. Jan 26: " In the morning I got up early & done the chores & then loaded up a load of Potatoes & took them out to Glens Falls at 45¢ per bu and I got home about 6 o'clock and it is a beautiful day cleared off before noon & was warm & thawed some still warmer at night.":

            Fri. Jan 27: " It got colder in the night & was quite cold in the morning it is a rough windy & cold disagreeable day zero at night and in the forenoon I chored around & put up a grist & Everett came over & got the Bull calf and in the afternoon I took a grist down to Argyle & Georgia & the children went along she had to get her dress cut and it was very cold.  I sorted potatoes in the morning."

            Sat. Jan 28: " In the morning We all went up to Alex Powells a visiting and found no one at home so we came back home & I put up a grist & in the afternoon I took it down to West Hebron & got it home again 8 barrels and it is a nice pleasant day but very cold  poor sleighing in places."

            Sun. Jan 29: " We all went to church & we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron & his text was in Mark and we came home at noon and Billy came over in the afternoon and it is a cold day but clear some windy pretty smug winter weather."

            Mon. Jan 30: " In the morning I got up early & done the chores & then went up to the woods & Billy was there & we cut & drawed wood all day we only got 4 loads it is pretty slow cutting and at night John McKernon came down & his wife also & made a visit & it is a cold day nice day some cloudy but cleared of cold."

            Tues. Jan 31: " In the morning I got up early & done the chores & then went up to the woods & Billy was there & we cut & drawed wood all day pretty fine cutting poles mostly and we only got 4 loads and it is a nice pleasant day only cold it don't thaw much sleighing is thin."

            Wed. Feb. 1: " In the morning I got up early & done the chores and expected Billy over to cut ice but he did’nt come and so we all went down to Argyle Georgia wanted to see about her dress and in the afternoon I took a grist down to West Hebron and got it home with me and it is a beautiful day only cold rather poor sleighing."

            Thur. Feb 2: " In the forenoon I put up a grist & chored around and in the afternoon I took the grist down to West Hebron and got it home and at night Theodore Gilchrist came along & He & I  went down below Argyle to Bennie Carswells to a political meeting nothing was done in particular only they promised me the delegates for school Commissioner. We did’nt get home till 1 o'clock. and it is a nice pleasant day only cold."

            Fri. Feb 3: " In the forenoon I shelled some corn & chored around & in the afternoon I chored around & took a short ride on business but did’nt find no parties to home and it is a stormy day rained but frooze as it came & snowed a little and it is some warmer  at night we all went up to David Fosters to a small party came home early."

            Sat. Feb 4: " In the morning Billy came over & got the team to draw wood for himself & he drawed all day & Uncle Tom H & his wife & Mattie came down a visiting and it is a nice pleasant day some cloudy & stormed a little but did’nt amount to much colder at night."

            Sun. Feb 5: " We all went to church & we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron and his text was  in John and we came home at  noon & after dinner Glenroy & Joe came up & stayed a while and it is a nice day only rather cold but pleasant some cloudy Red Heifer had a calf."

            Mon. Feb 6: " In the morning I got up early & done the chores and then went over to the mud lake & got a load of ice Billy cut it & we got up 6 loads & Hiram Reynolds helped or drawed 1 load Billy cut it all and we got it all packed & some sawdust on or around it and it is a beautiful day cold but thawed a little At night I went down to Argyle to a political meeting & Theodore Gilchrist is up again on our faction and they gave me power to name the delegates for School Commissioner the Faction.

            Tues. Feb 7: " In the forenoon I rode up around the North part of the town and looked after politics some what & in the afternoon I rode down around the lake looking after our interest and at night I went out again had very good luck and it is a cold day only pleasant & pretty good sleighing."

            Wed. Feb 8: " In the forenoon I took Mary Jane down to Argyle and stayed around awhile and came back it snowed nearly all day & pretty hard part of the time & snowed quite a lot last night and it must be 6 inches of new snow & in the afternoon I chored around and at night it cleared off and we all went over to the church to a social an old time social and had a very good time got home about 11½ o'clock it is a cold night."

            Thur. Feb 9: " The snow has been pileing up all day it is a very cold windy & rough day In the forenoon I chored around and in the afternoon I drove down South from Thamons & it was so cold I turned back & came home and it is a cold rough day terrible west wind or South West 2º Below Zero at night & wind blowing a terrible gale."

            Fri. Feb 10: " In the forenoon I chored around shelled some corn etc and in the afternoon I took a little drive on Politics & then drove down to West Hebron & got the mail & Orrie & Eva came home with me and stayed and at night Theodore Gilchrist & I went down to Argyle to a Political meeting at Charley Taylors & we made out the slate for our Faction (if we win in Caucus) for Town meeting & delegates I was allowed the privilege to name the delegates for school Commissioner in the First Dist in the County.  W. J. Kilmer, Fred McAuley, Will McWhorter, Will McClay, John McKernon, James  McNeil, Charles Henry, Theodore Reynolds. It is a very cold rough day windy & cold too."

            Sat. Feb 11: " I done the chores & about 10½ o'clock I started out on Politics & drove down to the South part of the town and seen some of the boys and came back by Cossayuna & then home I got home about 3½ o'clock and it is a very cold day clear & pleasant good sleighing coldest morning here yet."

            Sun. Feb 12:" We all went to church in the big sleighs & we heard a sermon by Mr. Willard McEachron & his text was Matthew and we came home at noon & it is a nice pleasant day only very cold good sleighing now at night I drove over to Will  Liddles."

            Mon. Feb 13: " It is a very stormy day it blowed & snowed all day it kept getting worse it is a young Blizzard and it is cold storm and it drifted very badly to and I chored around shelled some corn & sorted potatoes it must of snowed a foot on the level."

            Tues. Feb 14: " In the forenoon I chored around shoveled snow around the buildings & the took the team & started out to break the roads out we had to shovel it was drifted pretty bad and in the afternoon I chored around & took the women & children down to Emas & went after them it is a nice pleasant day but cold."

            Wed. Feb 15: " In the forenoon I chored around & sorted a few potatoes & put up part of a grist & in the afternoon I done about the same & at night we all went down to Uncle John Blacks & spent the evening at the foot of the mountain and it is a nice pleasant day clear but looked some like a storm at night."

            Thur. Feb 16: " In the forenoon I chored around at noon I drove over to see Frank Barkley on politics & chored around the rest of the day & sorted a few potatoes and at night I took a ride on politics and got home about 11 o'clock & it is some warmer & some cloudy pretty hard traveling yet."

            Fri. Feb 17: " In the forenoon I chored around and sorted a few potatoes & skined a young calf & in the afternoon I went down to West Hebron & got the mail & Orrie rode down with me & got some things & it is a warm day & cloudy too it looks like rain but cleared off at night the snow settled some to day it thawed some."

            Sat. Feb 18: " In the morning I done the chores & then we all went down to Argyle to Glenroys & I went to Town Caucus and We did’nt get done till about dark and the Baker Faction got the County Delegates by 80 majority & Jan McNaughton got the Dist. Delegates from me by 85 majority & Hub Snyder beat Theodore Gilchrist by 104 majority  and it is a beautiful day warm & pleasant thawed a lot the sleighing is poor in places."

            Sun. Feb 19: " We all went to church & we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron & his text was Luke the 15 chapter & the 11,12,& 13 verses and we came home at intermission and it is thawing quite a lot it is a nice day pleasant & warm but cooler at night."

            Mon. Feb 20: " In the forenoon I took a grist down to West Hebron on sleighs & got it home & in the afternoon I chored around and at night we all went to church or prayer meeting we went in the bob sleighs & it is a warm day thawed some & was cloudy."

            Tues. Feb 21: " In the morning I got up early & loaded up a load of potatoes & after I done the chores I took it out to Glens Falls 44 bu at 45¢ and it was poor sleighing in places but I got there & back home again & we all went over to the church to meeting & we went in a sleigh poor sleighing it rained some at night."

            Wed. Feb 22: " In the forenoon it rained quite a lot but cleared off about 10 o'clock and the sleighing is good and Billy came over & we went down to the lower house & pulled of what plaster was loose and in the afternoon I took Orrie & Eva down home at West Hebron & then I went to church & Billy had the team & drawed some wood for himself & it thawed a lot lots of water on the roads I drove a wagon to church."

            Thur. Feb. 23 : " In the morning Billy came over & Will Stach came here to do some mason work or plastering down to the lower house & we helped him & he got done & I went over to Tom Cuthberts & got part of a barrel of sand and it is a nice day warm & thawed a lot the sleighing is gone about. it got colder at night."

            Fri. Feb 24: " In the morning Billy came over & we put some sawdust on the ice & then Billy took the team & drawed over some of his stuff & in the afternoon we all went down to West Hebron & then to church & we heard a sermon by Mr. Crawford and it is a cold raw day thawed some but rough going wagons now but Billy used a sleigh."

            Sat. Feb 25: " In the morning I took the team over & got a load of Dry Wood for Billy & he used the team the rest of the day & I chored around & in the afternoon we all went to church & we heard a sermon by Mr. Turnbull and we had Roscoe Baptized & it is a nice day cold but thawed quite a lot muddy."

            Sun. Feb 26: " We all went to church & we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron & his text was in Luke and it was Sacrament Sabbath and it is a pretty cloudy & stormy day it rained & hailed nasty after noon."

            Mon. Feb 27: " In the forenoon I stayed at home with the children & Georgia went up to Jen Chapmans babes funeral at Belcher and in the afternoon I chored around sorted some potatoes & cut some hog wood & piled it up in the hog pen & it rained in the morning but cleared off colder."

            Tues. Feb 28: " In the morning I done the chores & then loaded up a load of potatoes & took them out to the Falls at 45¢ per bu and I did’nt get home till dark & it was cool in the morning but pleasant thawed a lot & is muddy cool night."

            Wed. Mar 1: " In the forenoon I chore around & a man came along & sold me a Royal Scroll of the Bible and I sold a load of potatoes to Sam Halpin of Fort Edward at 43¢ & in the afternoon I went over & helped Billy to move over 2 loads of Hay & it is a nice day pleasant & thawed some."

            Thur. Mar 2: " In the morning I done the chores & then I went over & helped Billy to moove he got most all mooved over I drawed 2 jags and it began snowing about 10 o'clock & snowed the rest of the day 3 inches guess very nasty day and it is a cool day to thawed some."

            Fri. Mar 3: " In the morning I done the chores & Georgia & the children went up home & stayed all day & I went down to West Hebron & done some trading & in the afternoon I chored around fixed a place to put the 2 old cows in the barn cellar and sorted out 4 of the smallest pigs & Billy helped me & at night I took Annie McDougall down to Jim Loys and it is a pleasant day but very windy the snow most all went off."

            Sat. Mar 4: " In the forenoon I chored around and in the afternoon we all went down to West Hebron & stopped at Orries awhile Annies children were there & it is a pretty cloudy day thawed quite a lot it snowed about 4 inches last night very muddy I found a turkey nest with 3 eggs in it down in the woods."

            Sun. Mar 5: " We all went to church & we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron & his text was Hebrews the 5 chapter & the first clause of the 12 verse and it is very muddy & sloppy going it rained a little last night & rained before night again just like a shower."

            Mon. Mar 6:" In the morning I done the chores & then Billy helped me & we loaded up a load of potatoes & took them out to Glens Falls 45 bu at 45¢ and it is very hard going & sold Johnnies pork or pigs & mine 12 pigs 9 to go March 14 Tuesday & 9 to go March 21 Tuesday & Billy done the chores at noon & at night & it turned cold in the night it was frooze up in the morning but soon all thawed out."

            Tues. Mar 7: " In the forenoon I put up 50 bu of oats Billy helped me & then I helped him to shell his corn & in the afternoon I sorted a few potatoes & chored around & it was Town Meeting but I didn't go it stormed & blowed so & drifted & was cold too."

            Wed. Mar 8: " In the morning Billy came up & he & I loaded the oats on a sleigh & we both took them down to West Hebron 50 bu to Neal McIntyre at 40¢ & Billy done some trading. & when we came home we put up 50 bu more & I took them down to Charley Cronan 50 bu at 40¢ I took a wagon this time hard going it is drifted bad in places & then all bare ground & it is a nice pleasant day thawed quite a lot."

            Thur. Mar 9: " In the forenoon I chored around and in the afternoon I went down & helped Billy to cut up some limbs and it is a pretty cloudy day thawed a little all wagons going but the snow is deep where it drifted.

            Fri. Mar 10: " In the forenoon I chored around & went down to Billys & helped him to cut some poles & chored around sorted a few potatoes & one sow had 7 pigs or I found her in the morning with 7 but 1 was dead & the other sow in awhile killed 2 more leaving only 4 and in the afternoon Billy had my team to take a grist down to West Hebron for himself. & I chored around & at night we all went down to West Hebron to Orries & I went to the kickapoo show & it is a nice day thawed quite a lot some cloudy.

            Sat. Mar 11: " In the forenoon I chored around went down to Billys awhile & sorted a few potatoes when I came back and in the afternoon I went over above the Hook & got a load of mooving for Robert McFarland and took it down to McEachrons house down in the woods and then came home and it is a nice warm day out very muddy & cloudy & rained some. At night Billy, Edgar & I went down to West Hebron to the kickapoo show."

            Sun. Mar 12: " We all went to church & we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron and his text was in Jerimiah 18 chapter & the 12 verse and it rained on us coming home & it is a very nasty day cloudy & rained quite a lot warm & rained a lot."

            Mon. Mar 13: " In the morning I got up early & done the chores & then Billy came up & we loaded up a load of potatoes & I took them out to Glens Falls 41 bu at 45¢ per bu and it was terrible going I did’nt get home till night. Billy done the chores at noon & night & Johnnie took out his pigs & my three mine weighed 212 # at   ¢ per # it is a nice day snowed a little in the morning.  This is written for Mar 14 by mistake."

            Tues. Mar 14: " In the forenoon I chored around and in the afternoon Billy come up & we done the chores & then we both went down to West Hebron & done some trading and Ruby went down with us & stopped at Orries and it is a pretty cloudy day stormed quite a lot not very cold.  This is for March 15 Wednesday  mistake"

            Wed. Mar 15: " In the morning I got up early & Billy helped me to do the chores & we carried water to Butcher with & Johnnie & Mary came down & he brought his 6 pigs to kill & we killed 3 of mine 9 in all they were all pretty small we got done about 11½ o'clock & in the afternoon Billy & I sawed up the pile of dry wood down the road for Orrie and it is a nice day cool air.  This is written for Mar 13 Monday by mistake"

            Thurs. Mar 16: " I chored around all day at one thing & another I am about sick with a cold done some chores for Billy and it is a cold winters day quite cold at night some sleighs going it thawed quite a lot."

            Fri. Mar 17: " In the morning I got up early & Billy helped me do the chores and then we loaded up a load of potatoes and took them out to Fort Edward at 45¢ per bu and it is a cool day I brought home ½ ton of Super Phosphate from the Depot  and I got home in time to do the chores at night. cold at night."

            Sat. Mar 18: " It snowed nearly all day and I chored around & did’nt do much I finished sorting the potatoes in the cellar and it is a nasty day the lambs are coming now freely. cool but warmer at night Tom Ripley came down & bought the big calf at 5¢ per # to go on Monday next."

            Sun. Mar 19: " We all went to church & we heard a sermon by Mr. Willard McEachron & his text was Exodus the 16 chapter & the 4 verse and it is a nasty day rainy & we went in a wagon lots of sleighs out it is very soft & sloppy."

            Mon. Mar 20: " In the forenoon I took a calf up to Tom Ripleys it weighed 188 # at 5¢ per # it was Red cows calf 6 weeks old Billy helped me to load it & I took it up in the big sleighs and it is good sleighing drifted in some places it is a terrible windy day & cold too 3 lambs came & I give 2 away to day to Billy's children & in the afternoon I chored around & at night it was quite cold."

            Tues. Mar 21: " Billy & I cut wood up in the backwoods in the forenoon & in the afternoon I drawed wood up to the door 4 loads and Billy helped to load & chopped & it is nice sleighing now & it is a nice pleasant day some cloudy & cold too At night we all drove down to West Hebron we went in a cutter."

            Wed. Mar 22: " It snowed all forenoon & part of the afternoon and Billy & I put up a load of potatoes in bags and then Billy drove Dan down to the Hook & bought a load of Hay and I chored around and it quit snowing before night awhile and at night we all went up to John McKernons & spent the evening it is nice sleighing now"

            Thru. Mar 23: " In the morning I got up early & done the chores & Billy came up & helped me to load up a load of potatoes & I took them out to Glens Falls 40 bu at 45¢ but they are worth 60¢ now and it began storming rain & snow just as I got into the Falls & rained or snowed all the rest of the day from about 9 o'clock and it was the nicest sleighing it has been all winter and it is not very cold. & at night we all went over to the Christian Endeavor Social at the church & drove up to Johnnies it cleared off cool."

            Fri. Mar 24: " In the morning I done the chores & Georgia & the children & Anna Liddle went up to Johnnies & stayed all day & I went out to Sandy Hill & got a load of lumber for to cover the hay barn and I got home early & got onloaded Billy helped me & I helped him to split some wood and it is a nice day cool & rather cloudy good sleighing yet."

            Sat. Mar 25: " In the morning I got up early & done the chores & then went up above West Pawlet in Vermont & got a load of Slate 4 sq. 2nd quality & got home early good sleighing yet and at night we all went down to West Hebron & got the mail and it is a nice pleasant day cool air though thawed quite a lot in places."

            Sun. Mar 26: " I went to church & I heard a sermon by Mr. Willard McEachron & his text was in Hebrews I think and Georgia & the children stayed at home & kept house and it is a stormy forenoon but it cleared of nice & pleasant in the afternoon & thawed some snowed quite a lot all sleighs yet & good sleighing."

            Mon. Mar 27: " In the morning Billy came up & we done the chores & then I took a little wood down to Orrie & then drove on up & got Johnnie & Mary to help Butcher & Billy split some wood and after noon took Mary & Johnnie home & then Billy & I finished the wood & 2 fellows came & got some oats 32 bu at 40¢ per bu and it is a nice day quite cold in the morning good sleighing. At night I put up about 20 bu of Potatoes in bags."

            Tues. Mar 28: " In the morning Billy & I got up early & done the chores & then loaded up part of a load of potatoes put the pigs on top & then we both went out to Glens Falls got out there about 9 o'clock I got 65¢ per bu for the potatoes & only got 4¢ per # for the pigs docked ¼¢ 680 # on 9 pigs and we got home about 4 o'clock & in the morning we had to take a calf away from Betsey Heifer & it was dead. and it is a pretty cloudy day & rained a little before we got home.  I sold 2 loads of potatoes for Johnnie out there at 1 penny per #.

            Wed. Mar 29: " I got up early & done the chores & it snowed quite had till 10 o'clock & then I drove up to Johnnies & on up to David H. Hurds & paid him some money that I had of his & it blowed  & drifted quite a lot & I chored around it cleared off about night quite cold."

            Thur. Mar 30: " In the morning I got up early & done the chores & then took a load of wood down to West Hebron to Orrie & Glenroy & I mooved her to the upper end of the village and we had sleighs & it was good sleighing too. & it is a cool day thawed some of course in the sun Billy done the chores at noon & at night we all went down to West Hebron on business."

            Fri. Mar 31: " In the morning I got up early and done the chores & then went up to Johnnies & he & I each took a load of Potatoes out to Glens Falls on sleighs it was good sleighing up the back road and we had a long day it got poor on the road in the villages but good all the way from Fort Edward I got some money at the Sandy Hill Bank & at night when I got home I took it down to West Hebron to Orrie & it is a nice pleasant day thawed a lot but good sleighing around here."

            Sat. Apr 1: " Billy came on to work & we cut & drawed wood up in the back woods & drawed it to the house for me we got 7 loads and it is a nice day some windy thawed quite a lot but no bare ground around here on the road."

            Sun. Apr 2: " We all went to church & we went in a sleigh & it was Good sleighing all the way & we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron and we came home at noon & it is a nice day some cloudy it thawed some."

            Mon. Apr 3: " In the forenoon & all day Billy & I cut & drawed wood up in the back woods for Orrie & drawed it down to the house & we got 6 loads and at night I drove down to West Hebron to see Orrie about how much wood she wanted & she paid me for 3 cord at $4 per cord $12 and I went in a sleigh it was poor down on main road but good sleighing around here yet & it is a nice pleasant day warm thawed a lot Georgia's cow had a calf."

            Tues. Apr 4: " In the forenoon Billy & I cut & drawed wood up in the back woods & we drawed it down to the house for Orrie and in the afternoon we cut some chestnut for sleepers & 2 sills for a cow stable & it is a nice pleasant day warm & Cortlan & Lucy Williamson came over a visiting in the forenoon & stayed all day & it thawed a lot pretty poor sleighing on main road but very good up to the woods."

            Wed. Apr 5: " In the forenoon Billy & I worked with the bad pipe the water stopped we or I went over & got Tom Griffin & his Suck Pump but did’nt get the pipe entirely cleaned out & then we cut some limbs & wood up in cord wood & it is a nice pleasant day thawed some lots of snow not hardly any bare ground yet more sleighs than wagons yet I guess."

            Thur. Apr 6: " Billy did’nt work to day he was sick and in the forenoon after I done the chores I went down to Argyle & got my grass seed and got 2 saws filed etc. and I took a wagon for the first in awhile and it is very rough going & when I came back I chored around & began sawing wood a little & it is a nice pleasant day warm & thawed a lot. some sleighs going yet."

            Fri. Apr 7: " In the forenoon we cut Orries wood up into cord wood & the limbs into stove wood & then went over & dug around the pipe in the barn yard & found a hole or two in the pipe so give it up & in the afternoon we let the cattle out & watered them over by the Horse barn and then cut the rest of the wood into cord wood & the limbs into stove wood & then went at sawing cord wood and it came on rain about 5 o'clock & it is a pretty cloudy day thawed some one sleigh went by & in the afternoon Georgia & the children went down to Orries at West Hebron & done some trading & got the mail."

            Sat. Apr 8: " Billy & I cut sawed & split wood at the house till about 3 o'clock & then it came on rain it rained a little now & then all day a mist it rained hard last night the snow is going fast now the fields are getting bare now & we chored around roads are very muddy now."

            Sun. Apr 9: " We all went to church & we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron & his text was in Job. and we came home at noon & it is terrible going mud is deep & snow is deep too in places and it is a pretty cloudy day cool raw weather."

            Mon. Apr 10: " In the forenoon Billy sawed & chopped wood at the door & I trimed the little apple trees down below the road & then I sawed & cut wood & in the afternoon we both worked at the wood at the door we cut for ourselves to-day."

            Tues. Apr 11: " In the morning Uncle Tom H came down in the forenoon he hung the Horse barn door on rollers & the stable door & put or cut a window in the barn cow stable & went down & put a lock on Billys door & I helped him most of the time & Billy cut wood at the door and in the afternoon we went over & tore down the hay barn & we had good luck tore it all down we left the sills on the foundation & it is a nice pleasant day warm & thawed a lot but frooze quite a lot last night."

            Wed. Apr 12: " Billy & I worked about ½ of the day on the wood pile when it did’nt rain it rained a lot & is a very nasty day we chored around at one thing & another very muddy now. lots of snow on the north side of the Hills snow is deep in places yet."

            Thur. Apr 13: " In the forenoon I took a grist down to West Hebron and got it home again and Edgar went with me and Anna came up & stayed with Georgia & the children Georgia is about down sick & Ruby was sick last night and Billy cut wood most of the day & in the afternoon we fixed a little fence & then sawed wood. it is a warm day only rather windy part of the day terrible roads."

            Fri. Apr 14: " Old white cow had a calf in the morning I sawed wood awhile & then we all went down to West Hebron & left the children at Orries & Georgia & I went up to Mrs. Beatties funeral & we got our dinner at Orries & got home about 3½ o'clock & it is terrible going but the roads are drying up some in places and Billy worked at the wood all day quite warm it thundered in the morning."

            Sat. Apr 15: " In the forenoon we loaded up a load of stove wood & I took it down to West Hebron to Orrie & Billy cut wood at the door & in the afternoon I took a nother load down to Orrie ½ cord and Billy worked at the wood and it is a nice pleasant day warm but cooler at night the roads or back roads are full of holes & in a terrible condition and at night  we all went down to Billys awhile drying up fast the wind & sun together."

            Sun. Apr 16: " We all went to church & we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron and we came home at noon and it is a pretty cloudy day cool air & looks like snow it rained a little cleared off at night.

            Mon. Apr 17: " I took two loads of wood down to West Hebron to Orrie & Billy helped me to load up & then he worked at the wood at the door while I was gone & it is a nice pleasant day warm but windy roads are drying up fast some bad holes some neighbors are beginning to plow."

            Tues. Apr 18: " I drawed 2 loads of stove wood down to West Hebron to Orrie and Billy helped me to load up & then he cut wood while I was gone and the roads are drying up fast but the bad holes are bad yet and it is a nice pleasant & warm too quite warm In the forenoon I drove on down to Philip McEachron's & got a barrel of sand that I owed to Thomas Cuthbert & Billy took it over to him."

            Wed. Apr 19: " In the morning Billy began plowing up on the long field above Billys & I sowed the grass seed on the rye 9 Acres up on the big side hill and in the afternoon I took a nother load of wood down to Orrie that is all of it and Billy split wood while I was gone and it is a nice day warm & looks like rain some."

            Thur. Apr 20: " Billy Plowed nearly all day down on the long field & in the forenoon I fixed fence along Burdetts lien & along the swamp & road & chored around and it rained 2 or 3 little showers and it is a pretty cloudy day but warm."

            Fri. Apr 21: " Billy Plowed nearly all day up in the long field & he got done up there and Sidney Heath came up & went at Shearing the Sheep & I done up the wool and chored around & trimmed the apple trees in the little Orchard back of the barn and it is a nice pleasant day warm drying up fast now."

            Sat. Apr 22: " In the morning I sowed the long field to Oats 4½ A & Billy dragged it in with 2 horses and Sidney Heath came up & finished Shearing the Sheep and I done up the wool & chored around and in the afternoon Billy began plowing up above his house along the road and at night we all went down to West Hebron &  done some trading we drove 2 horses & it is a nice pleasant day warm."

            Sun. Apr 23: " We all went to church & we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron & his text was Luke the 20 chapter & the 24 & 25 verses & we came home at noon and it is a nice pleasant day warm & clear roads are drying up fast but some bad places yet."

            Mon. Apr 24: " Billy Plowed nearly all day in the field above his house and I fixed fence one place & another all day and it is a nice pleasant day Hot for the time of year the snow banks is nearly all gone."

            Tues. Apr 25: " Billy plowed nearly all day in the field above his house and it is a nice pleasant day only very hot I fixed fence one place & another all day and at night we had a heavy thunder shower it rained a lot and fine rain no mistake heavy thunder."

            Wed. Apr 26: " In the forenoon Billy & I both fixed fence one place & another and in the afternoon Billy plowed down in the field above his house & I took Georgia & the children down to West Hebron to see Orrie she is sick & they stayed all night & I came back home & chored around."

            Thurs. Apr 27: " In the morning I went down to West Hebron & got Georgia & the children & Billy finished Plowing down in the field above his house & when I got back I sowed the oats on the field above Billys and he dragged it in & in the afternoon I fixed fence up back along the sheep field and Billy helped me when he got done dragging and it is a nice pleasant day Hot Orrie was some better."

            Fri. Apr 28: " In the morning I drove down to West Hebron & took Ruby down to see the Doctor she was sick last night & Billy took the team up to Weirs to get shawd and then we rigged up the two wagons & went at drawing out manure & drawed out the rest of the day & it is a very warm day grass is growing fast now."

            Sat. Apr 29: " We drawed out manure all day about all day & we drawed down in the little Orchard in the field cross from the barn and at night we all went down to West Hebron & done some trading and it is a nice pleasant day warm & dry too grass is growing fast now."

            Sun. Apr 30: " We all went to church & we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron & his text was Genesis the 49 chapter & the 23 & 24 verses I think and we came home at noon and it is a nice pleasant day warm & clear."

            Mon. May 1: " In the morning we drove the 2 old sows up to Dake Gilchrist's boar and then we drawed some ashes around the trees down in the meadow orchard and then we drawed out manure till noon & in the afternoon Billy Begun to plow down in the meadow orchard & I spread some manure & it came up a Thunder shower about 4 o'clock & we didn't go out again I cut a few seed potatoes and it is a very warm or hot day & it rained a lot we had 2 or 3 showers Billy went up & got the sows at night."

            Tues. May 2: " In the forenoon Billy did’nt work I chored around & set out my grape vines and fixed some fence & in the afternoon We both fixed fence around the big field the Pasture field this summer and it is a nice day warm cooler at night it rained in the forenoon some and it was pretty wet."

            Wed. May 3: " In the forenoon I spread some manure down in the meadow orchard & cut a few potatoes & chored around and Billy plowed down in the little orchard & in the afternoon Billy & I fixed a little fence & then drawed out 3 loads of manure & spread it on top of the plowed ground and then Billy plowed & I spread some manure and it is a nice day only cold wind."

            Thur. May 4: " I was sick all day did’nt hardly get out all day & Billy plowed down in the meadow orchard and it is a nice pleasant day warm & getting dry too."

            Fri. May 5: " In the forenoon I chored around and went over to Will Randles & got a spoke put in the wagon and I am some better and Billy plowed nearly all day in the meadow orchard in the afternoon I worked out a piece in the meadow orchard for potatoes and it is a nice pleasant day warm & dry too."

            Sat. May 6: " I planted potatoes nearly all day down in the meadow orchard by Billys and Billy finished plowing the orchard & plowed the swail in the oat field & I sowed it to oats & Billy dragged it in & at night we all went down to West Hebron & done some trading and it is a nice pleasant day some cloudy & warmer to-day."

            Sun. May 7: " We all went to church & we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron & his text was Psalms the 104 & the last clause of the 20 verse I think & it is a nice pleasant day warm & dry too."

            Mon. May 8: " I drawed manure out all day in the field cross from the barn 33 loads & Billy loaded it and it is a nice pleasant day warm & getting dry too. In the morning I took the sheep up back to the sheep field."

            Tues. May 9: " In the forenoon Billy went up & got Dake Gilchrists square drag & dragged the old ground over down in the meadow orchard & I spread some manure & planted a few potatoes down in the meadow orchard and in the afternoon Billy plowed sod in the field cross from the barn & I marked out the rest or what we are going to plant to corn down in the meadow orchard and it is a nice day only cold & windy & getting very dry too."
            Wed. May 10: " In the forenoon Billy plowed in the field cross from the barn and I dropped Phosphate in the meadow orchard & in the afternoon we began planting corn in the same field & it is a nice pleasant day clear Hot & dry."

            Thur. May 11: " In the forenoon Billy plowed awhile cross from the barn & I dropped a little phosphate & then we both planted corn & in the afternoon it came on rain & we cut potatoes in the cellar and it cleared off before night & it was a nice rain only quite cold very windy in the forenoon."

            Fri. May 12: " In the forenoon Billy & I drawed the pile of manure that was out in the field cross from the barn & spread it on the plowed ground 12 loads and in the afternoon Billy plowed in the same field and planted corn down in the meadow orchard & it is a nice day warm we turned the cows down in the pasture & quit feeding Hay."

            Sat. May 13: " In the forenoon Billy plowed in the field cross from the barn and I spread some manure then finished planting corn down in the meadow orchard and in the afternoon Billy plowed awhile till it came on rain and I spread the rest of the manure & chored around & it came on rain & then we cut a few potatoes then we both took the Family wagon over to Will Randles to get a new set of wheels put on and left it & then we drove down to West Hebron and then back home & it is a nice rain and is cool too."

            Sun. May 14: " Ruby & I went to church & Eliza Liddle went with us & we heard a sermon by Mr. Willard McEachron & his text was Matthew the 1 chapter & the 33 verse and Georgia & Roscoe stayed at home & kept house and it is a cool & cloudy day got colder after the rain cleared off nice in the morning."

            Mon. May 15: " In the forenoon I cut potatoes & put up some crow twine on the corn and Billy plowed in the field cross from the barn & he got done before noon & then we went at drawing out manure in the field or little orchard back of the barn and in the afternoon we drawed out manure on the same orchard and it is a nice pleasant day only cool & a heavy frost last night. Apple tree flowers are in full blossom now.

            Tues. May 16: "Billy did’nt work to day he was sick & in the forenoon I dragged the field cross from the barn with 3 horses and got done & after dinner I went up to Dake Gilchrists & borrowed his marker & marked the field out both ways & got done. Billy done the chores at night and it is a cloudy & cool day rained a little at night."

            Wed. May 17: " In the morning we took some potatoes out to the field & Billy took the marker home and then we went at planting potatoes & dropped them & the super Phosphate & Billy covered them & it is a nice day some warm but windy."

            Thur. May 18: " We planted potatoes nearly all day the little rain drove us in once or twice but the rain don't amount to much and I dropped the potatoes & super Phosphate & Billy covered them & Georgia & the children went down to West Hebron & then went up to Johnnies & stayed all day & it is a cloudy cool & windy day it is a cool time."

            Fri. May 19: " Billy & I planted potatoes in the field cross from the barn & we was drove in 1 or 2 times by rain but we finished the field the rain didn't amount to much and at night or before we loaded up the potatoes nearly a load & backed them in on the barn floor and it is a cool backward time cloudy & windy too."

            Sat. May 20: " In the morning We got up early & done the chores & took the load of potatoes out to Fort Edward, Sandy Hill & Glens Falls we pedled them out 20 bu at 60¢ & 21 bu at 65¢ per bu and we pedled them all the way out and we got onloaded at 1 o'clock & got home about 6 o'clock & we each got a suit of clothes and it is a pretty cloudy & cool day rained a little cold indeed & at night we all went down to West Hebron and it rained some too & was cool."

            Sun. May 21: " We all went to church & we heard a sermon by Mr. Shepard and his text was the 11 verse of the 84 Psalm and meeting was’nt till 2 o'clock our Minister was away and it is a cool rain windy & cloudy day for the time of year it is very backward weather is cold & nothing seems to grow."

            Mon. May 22: " In the forenoon Billy & I drawed out manure and in the afternoon we drawed out the rest we got the yard scraped out & then Billy began plowing in the little orchard back of the barn & I spread manure and at night Billy & I drove down to West Hebron and we went up to Will Randles & got the Family wagon & new wheels and brought it home I did’nt pay for it and it is a pretty cloudy day & cool & windy too."

            Tues. May 23: " In the forenoon I finished spreading manure & then took a horse up to Weirs to get shawd & then I cut potatoes till noon & Billy plowed all day in the field or little orchard back of the barn & in the afternoon I marked out part of the orchard about 1 acre & begun planting potatoes and it is a nice day some warmer & dry cool in wind."

            Wed. May 24: " In the forenoon I planted potatoes in the little orchard back of the house & Billy finished plowing there and in the afternoon Billy worked for himself and I finished the potatoes & then marked out the rest of the orchard both ways for corn and it is a nice warm day getting very dry."

            Thur. May 25: " Billy  worked for himself and I dropped phosphate & planted corn all day in the little orchard back of the barn and it is a nice pleasant day some windy & warm & some cloudy too. In the afternoon Georgia & the children went home awhile."

            Fri. May 26: " I finished planting corn in the little orchard back of the barn all done planting now and I got done about 3 o'clock & then I took the wool down to North Argyle to Bob Cuthbert

225 # at 18¢ & the black fleece 6 # at 14¢ and Billy worked for himself and it is a nice warm day getting very dry."

            Sat. May 27: " I went out to Glens Falls with Charley McGeoch and got home about 4 o'clock & then washed my wagon & at night we all went down to West Hebron & got the mail and it is a cloudy & cool day at night it rained quite a lot it was very dusty out Fort Edward way and Billy did not work he took to day for Decoration."

            Sun. May 28: " We all went to church & Edgar & Nina went with us and we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron and his text was Epesians & we came home at noon & it is a pretty cloudy & cool day rained a little."

            Mon. May 29: " In the forenoon we fixed fence down back between the Widow Mahaffy & us & split out some rails & stakes and in the afternoon we drawed over 3 load of boards from the hay barn & about night we loaded 3 of the calves and they all weighed 610 # at 5½¢ per # & 50¢ premium on each calves netted $35.05 one was Georgias and we didn't get home very early and it is a cloudy & cool day."

            Tues. May 30: " In the morning I took the milk down to Argyle to the Butter Factory and I took Charley McGeochs & Doc Kinneys and Billy split some wood & cut up some old wood & put it in the Hog pen and when I got back about 9 o'clock we drawed over the rest of the boards from the Hay barn & a load of old shingles & in the afternoon Billy & I went up & helped Hugh Weir to plant potatoes & it is a pretty cloudy day & cool & windy it rained a little in the morning early."

            Wed. May 31: " In the morning I took the milk down to Argyle & Billy put up the crow twine on the corn back of the barn & split some wood and when I got home we went up on top of the hill & fixed fence around the meadow and in the afternoon we went over & helped Doc Kinney to plant potatoes and it is a nice pleasant day warmer to-day."

            Thur. Jun 1: " In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory & Billy split wood till I came back and then we went up in the back woods & split out some posts and in the afternoon we made some panels of fence & took them up back to make fence along the woods & road & it is a nice pleasant day warm & dry some windy too."

            Fri. Jun 2: " In the morning I took the milk down to the factory and Billy made panels of fence while I was gone and when I came back we took 2 load of panels up back along the woods lien fence & in the afternoon we built fence up between Weir & us & we got our part all laid up and it is a nice pleasant day warm and at night we all went over to the church to a Strawberry & ice cream Social & Edgar went with us and it is very dry & dusty."

            Sat. Jun 3: " In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory and Billy split wood while I was gone and when I came back we fixed fence up back & in the afternoon we drawed out the Hog manure and put it up in the old orchard around the trees and it is a nice pleasant day warm & dry and at night Billy & I went down to West Hebron & got the mail and I got my hair cut."

            Sun. Jun 4: " In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory & Charley did’nt send his milk this morning & we all went to church & Edgar & Nina went with us & we stayed for Sabbath School and it is a nice day some cloudy & windy too very dusty we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron."

            Mon. Jun 5: " In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory and when I got back I threw in some wood in the shed and in the morning Billy went down to Shaw Mahaffys & began plowing a piece for Buckwheat & plowed all day & in the afternoon I took a small grist down to West Hebron & got it home again and then I chored around & it is a nice pleasant day very Hot dry & dusty  showers went around 92º in shade some places. It was 98º in shade at Argyle"

            Tues. Jun 6: " In the morning I took the milk down to Argyle and Billy worked on the road with team all day & when I came back I piled some wood & chored around and in the afternoon I worked on the road and it is a very warm day very windy & dusty."

            Wed. Jun 7: " In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory and when I came back I tore down the barn yard fence & piled up the boards & Billy plowed down to Shaw Mahaffys for buckwheat and in the afternoon we plowed & scraped in the barn yard to make a foundation for the hay barn and it is a very hot day clear & dry & windy."

            Thur. Jun 8: " In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory & the engine didn't work & I did’nt get home till noon & Billy cultivated corn & potatoes down in the little orchard below the road & in the afternoon we drawed the frame of the Hay barn over in the barn yard and then Billy cultivated in the same field & I went down to West Hebron & got some 2 X 4s for rafters for the Hay barn their was showers went around in the night & it rained a very little here it got a little cooler."

            Fri. Jun 9: " In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory & Billy hoed corn & potatoes all forenoon down in the little orchard below the road & when I came back I helped to hoe & in the afternoon Uncle Tom H. came down & we went at laying the foundation & put the sills on the foundation & layed up the corners & Georgia & the children & Mrs. Liddle went down to West Hebron and at night Georgia went up to her folks & got the ice cream freezer & Uncle Tom H & I went up to Weirs & on up to Fosters & asked them to the raisin to morrow and it is a pretty cloudy day cooler rained a very little"

            Sat. Jun 10: " In the morning I took the milk down to Argyle and Billy helped Uncle Tom H to hew the sleepers & sill for the cow stable and I chored around with I got back and in the afternoon we got the hay barn up & the rafters all on.             Sun. Jun 11: " In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory and We all went to church & Edgar Nina & Eliza went with us & we stayed for Sabbath school and we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron & it is a nice day cool wind though."

            Mon. Jun 12: " In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory and while I was gone Billy cultivated corn down in the meadow orchard and when I came back we went at hoeing corn & hoed till about 4 o'clock & then took 3 of my calves & 1 for Billy over to Keyworths for Inglisbee 530 # at 5¢ & 50¢ premium on each calf. and it is a warm day but very windy."

            Tues. Jun 13: " In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory and Billy cultivated corn till I came back & then we hoed corn both of us the rest of the day down in the meadow orchard and it is a very hot day clear Hot & very dusty I never saw the like this time of year  Meadows are nearly ruined all dried up."

            Wed. Jun 14: " In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory and Billy cultivated corn till I came back and then we both hoed corn down in the meadow orchard and we got drove in 3 times by showers we had a little rain and it came in 3 showers and it is a terrible hot day it looks like more rain."

            Thur. Jun 15: " In the morning about 4 o'clock we had a quite heavy shower rained a lot and I took the milk down to the Factory and Billy cultivated corn in the orchard by the barn & when I came back we hoed corn till noon & in the afternoon Billy cultivated in the barn orchard & I finished hoeing in the meadow orchard & then began hoeing in the barn orchard corn & we both hoed till about 4 o'clock & it came on rain & it rained a slow shower things look nice no mistake and it is a hot day just the same at night a man stayed all night Essence pedler."

            Fri. Jun 16: " In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory and Billy cultivated corn in the barn orchard till I came back & began cultivating potatoes in the field cross from the barn & then we both hoed corn in the barn orchard & got done about 4 o'clock & then Billy cultivated potatoes in the field cross from the barn & I planted in corn with a planter & it is a very cold day & windy for time of year"

            Sat. Jun 17: " In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory and Billy cultivated potatoes in the field cross from the barn & when I came back I took his place & he planted in corn with a planter and in the afternoon I went to church & heard a sermon by Mr. Wiley & then drove down to West Hebron & got the mail and Billy cultivated some & done some work for himself and when I came back I planted in the rest of the corn. and it is a very cool  day for time of year & windy last night in the night Ruby was very sick & I went down & got Billy & he went down for the Doctor but she was better in the morning the Doctor came up at noon again but she was better and it is getting dry again."

            Sun. Jun 18: " In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory and we all went to church & Mrs. Liddle went with us and it was Sacrament Sabbath and we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron and his text was Luke the 22 chapter & it is a nice pleasant day & warmer too."

            Mon. Jun 19: " In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory and Billy cultivated  potatoes in the field cross from the barn and when I came back we went at hoeing potatoes cross from the barn & in the afternoon I went up & helped John McKernon to get out his sheep from mine & Billy hoed potatoes & I did when I came back and their was 3 showers and they all went around it rained a little here very warm day."

            Tues. Jun 20: " In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory and Uncle Tom H came down to finish the hay barn I helped him when I came back & we got it nearly boarded up & Billy went down & plowed for Buckwheat for Shaw Mahaffy & it is a pretty warm day it rained a little showers went around lots of rain other places. cooler at night."

            Wed. Jun 21: " In the morning Billy took the milk down to the Factory and when he came back he hoed potatoes till noon & in the afternoon He went down to Shaw Mahaffys & finished plowing for Buckwheat & then he cultivated potatoes in the field cross from the barn and I helped Uncle Tom H. all day to work at the hay barn & we got it nearly enclosed and it is a nice day only cool some cloudy."

            Thur. Jun 22: " In the morning Billy took the milk down to the Factory and when he came back he hoed potatoes the rest of the day in the field cross from the barn and I helped Uncle Tom H nearly all day & we got the Hay barn all ready for slating I done some other work & framed 2 sills for the cow stable and it was quite cold in the morning cold all day for the time of year. at night Uncle Tom H went home."           

            Fri. Jun 23: " In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory and Uncle Tom H worked all day at the Hay barn slating & I helped him carried the slate up on the roof and Billy was sick and did’nt work and it is a nice pleasant day warmer & very dry & dusty."

            Sat. Jun 24: " In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory & Uncle Tom H laid over the floor in one of the cow stables and when I came back I helped to finish the Hay barn slating & etc. and he went home middle of the afternoon & I chored around & at night we all went down to West Hebron & got the mail & it is a very Hot day & dry some cloudy & Billy was sick & did’nt work to day."

            Sun. Jun 25: " In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory and when I came back we all went to church & we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron & his text was in Isaiah & we came home at noon and it is a nice day some cloudy it rained some in the morning & in the afternoon we had a nice little shower."

            Mon. Jun 26: " In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory and when I came back I hoed potatoes  in the field cross from the barn and Billy dragged the Buckwheat ground over down to Shaw Mahaffys & in the afternoon I sowed the buckwheat down there 3 or 4 acres & Billy dragged till I got it sowed & then he came up home & chored around & I finished dragging and it is a nice pleasant day warm things are growing to day potatoes & corn anyhow oats are heading out now."

            Tues. Jun 27: " In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory and Billy cultivated potatoes in the field cross from the barn & he got done & when I came back we hoed potatoes in the same field the rest of the day and it is a nice day warm rained a little here & hailed a little cooler at night."

            Wed. Jun 28: " In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory and Billy cultivated the piece of potatoes that was in the barn orchard & then we finished hoeing the potatoes in the field cross from the barn & it came on rain then and after dinner we went out to hoe but came in it was a rainy afternoon it rained quite a lot nice rain we chored around"

            Thur. Jun 29: " In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory & when I came back I cultivated corn & potatoes one way till night down in the meadow orchard & Billy did’nt work he hoed his own garden & it is a nice pleasant day we had a nice rain yesterday but the wind blows so hard that it will soon dry it out and potatoes & corn are growing fast now."

            Fri. Jun 30: " In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory & Billy shoveled out the potatoes one way in the meadow orchard & when I came back we went at hoeing the potatoes down in the rear end of the barn orchard and when we got done there we began hilling the potatoes  down in the meadow orchard and it is a nice pleasant day warm some windy too."

            Sat. Jul 1: "  In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory and Billy cultivated corn down in the meadow orchard & when I came back we finished hilling the potatoes down in the meadow orchard & then hoed at the corn till night the corn is pretty nice most of it quite large and at night Billy & I  went down to West Hebron & got the mail and it is a nice pleasant day warm but windy & getting dry again."

            Sun. Jul 2: " In the morning I took the milk down to the factory and after I came back we all went to church Edgar & Nina went too & we heard an address on Missionary work by a young man by the name of Marton and it is a nice day clear & warm but very windy & dusty."

            Mon. Jul 3: " In the morning I got up early & put on some Paris Green & then took the milk down to the Factory & Billy cultivated corn in the meadow orchard till I came back & then we both hoed corn the rest of the day in the same field and it is a very hot day clear & Hot & dry & dusty."

            Tues. Jul 4: " In the morning Billy & I milked & then we both took the milk down to the Factory and then left the milk at Glenroy's & got his wagon & we both went out to Fort Edward to the Firemans Muster hose race Drill & Engine contest a big crowd we got home at night & it rained a nice shower at home but a very hot day."

            Wed. Jul 5: " In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory and Billy finished cultivating corn in the meadow orchard & began cultivating in the barn orchard and when I got home we both hoed corn the rest of the day in the meadow orchard & it is a very hot day some cloudy dryed out fast."

            Thur. Jul 6: " In the morning I took the milk down to the Butter Factory and Billy cultivated the rest of the corn in the barn orchard & I finished Hoeing corn in the meadow orchard & then we both went at hoeing in the barn orchard & hoed all day & at night I took two of the Truck wheels over to Will Randles to get the tire set and it is a very warm but rather windy rained a little about night."

            Fri. Jul 7: " In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory and Billy went at shoveling  out potatoes up & down the hill in the field cross from the barn & when I got home I went at it too. and at noon we finished hoeing the corn & then shoveled out the rest of the potatoes & then began hilling potatoes and it is a nice day some cloudy & some cooler."

            Sat. Jul 8: " In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory & got sopping wet it rained till noon & very hard part of the time a fine rain and Billy chored around we piled some wood & raised up the sleepers & floor in the cow stable & in the afternoon we all went a visiting down to Orries at West Hebron & Billy milked & that was all and it is a cloudy day rained a little in the afternoon."

            Sun. Jul 9: "In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory and when I came back we all went to church & we heard a sermon by Mr. Willard McEachron & his text was Revelation the 3 chapter & the 21 verse & we came home at noon & we had a nice shower about 5 o'clock & it rained a lot potatoes & corn are growing fast now."

            Mon. Jul 10: "In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory & Billy shoveled out potatoes till I came back & then we both hilled potatoes in the field cross from the barn and it is very wet hoeing ground is wet on top now. and at night I went over to Will Randles & got the Truck wagon wheels home and got home about dark."

            Tues. Jul 11: "In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory and Billy shoveled out the potatoes one way in the barn orchard & then shoveled it in the field cross from the barn and when I came back we both hilled nearly all day in the field cross from the barn and it is a nice pleasant day pretty warm."

            Wed. Jul 12: "In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory & when I came back M. Peacroft was here & we went up & looked at the lambs & I finally sold them to him 35 for $100 to be taken before snow flies he took 10 of them & left $30 and Billy shoveled out some potatoes in the field cross from the barn & when I came back we hilled the rest of the day in the same field & at night I put on some Paris Green & it is a nice warm day getting dry again."

            Thur. Jul 13: "In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory & Billy finished shoveling out potatoes all done now & then we went at Hilling potatoes & we finished in the field cross from the barn & began in the barn orchard and it is a nice pleasant day cooler wind was in the north at night I put on some Paris Green."

            Fri. Jul 14: "In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory & when I came back I finished hilling the potatoes in the barn orchard all done for 1899. & In the afternoon I began cradleing rye up in the big side hill and Billy did’nt work for me to day he hoed his at night I put on some Paris Green and it is very dry again."

            Sat. Jul 15: "In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory & when I came back went up & helped Billy to cut rye on the big side hill & we cut all day & it did’nt cut very good very blunt rye and it is a very warm day and clear & at night Georgia & the children went down to West Hebron & got the mail & Orrie Eva & Jennie Annies little girl came up with them to stay awhile and it looks a little like rain."

             Sun. Jul 16: "In the morning I took the milk down  to the Factory and it rained all the way on me & pretty hard part of the way nice rain so we did’nt any of us go to church so all stayed at home & kept house. In the afternoon it cleared off but we had a nother shower fine growing time & very warm to day too."

            Mon. Jul 17: "In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory and Billy went at cutting rye & when I came back I helped to finish cutting the rye & in the afternoon we went at binding the rye & setting it up & it is a nice cool day some cloudy we had a light shower quit before night."

            Tues. Jul 18: "In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory and when I came back I helped Billy to bind rye & we got it all bound & sat up & it is a nice cool & windy day cool for the time of year and after supper the women & children drove down to Argyle to the Cemetary and it is quite cool at night."

            Wed. Jul 19: "In the morning Billy took the milk down to the Factory and I began mowing over in the back meadow & mowed till noon & then I raked some hay up & I mowed a little more & we got in 1 or 2 loads & Billy mowed the swail by hand & mowed around the fences and it is a nice hay day"

            Thur. Jul 20: " In the morning Billy took the milk down to the Factory and I finished mowing over in the back meadow & I mowed the side hill up back of the barn & Billy mowed around the fences some we got in 1 load & in the afternoon we cleaned out the back meadow & raked the hay up on the side hill back of the barn or most of it & I broke the rake we had to quit we got in 1 small load it is a nice Hay day cool nights."

            Fri. Jul 21: " In the morning Billy took the milk down to the Factory & I mowed the swail in the oat field & cut the grass up on the piece up on the big side hill 3½ A. and Billy mowed some around the fences & in the morning we drawed in 2 jags from the side hill back of the barn & in the afternoon we finished the Hay back of the barn 1 load & raked & drawed in the hay up on the big side Hill & swail 4 loads & we got in 1 load of rye & it is a nice hay day not very hot but fair Hay weather."

            Sat. Jul 22: " In the morning Billy took the milk down to the Factory and I began mowing in the meadow up on top of the hill & mowed about ½ of it & Billy mowed around the fences & then we drawed in 3 loads of rye and in the afternoon we raked the hay up in the meadow & drawed in 3 loads & put it up in the Horse barn & got 1 load of rye in & at night we all went down to West Hebron & got the mail & it is a nice day good Hay weather not very Hot."

            Sun. Jul 23: " In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory and when I came back we all went to church & we heard a sermon by Mr. Steward & his text was the last 2 verses of the 58 chapter of Isaiah & it is a nice pleasant day warmer to day some cloudy too."   

            Mon. Jul 24: " In the morning Billy took the milk down to the Factory and I finished mowing up on top of the hill in the meadow and then we drawed in 3 loads of rye and in the afternoon we raked & loaded & drawed the hay down to the horse barn 4 loads and it is a nice pleasant day hot & some cloudy."

            Tues. Jul 25: " In the morning Billy took the milk down to the Factory and I mowed the grass or hay down in the lower fallow it is very light and Billy mowed some in the swail and in the afternoon we drawed in the rest of the rye 3 loads & then we began cutting oats up in the long field & Georgia & the children went down to Orries to a birthday party for Eva & stayed all day & it is a cloudy day it rained a little now & then."

            Wed. Jul 26: " It rained some last night and Billy took the milk down to Argyle but he didn't work for me to day he got poisoned and it rained quite a lot in the forenoon & I chored around and raked part of the rye stubble and in the afternoon I went over & helped Charley McGeoch to hill potatoes & then came home & raked up the hay in the lower fallow & Billy bunched it up & it cleared off very hot nice rain too."

            Thur. Jul 27: " In the morning Billy took the milk down to the Factory & I cut oats up in the long field & Charley McGeoch helped & Billy did when he came back & we got them all cut and in the afternoon Billy & I drawed in our hay in the lower fallow 4 loads & Charley helped some & then we drawed in Billys hay 3 loads in & 1 for Charley & it is a nice day warm good hay day."

            Fri. Jul 28: " In the morning Billy took the milk down to the Factory & when he came back he helped Charley to hill potatoes and I mowed grass down in the first fallow & in the afternoon I finished mowing & then drawed in the hay 5 loads & Charley raked the hay with his team and Billy bunched it and was a nice hay day warm."

            Sat. Jul 29: " In the morning Billy took the milk down to the Factory and Charley & I cut our oats down in the field above Billys & when he came back he helped & we got most done & in the afternoon we went at drawing in oats & Glenroy came up & helped us & we got them in the long field all in 4 load & finished cutting oats all done cradleing & it is a very windy day & rather cloudy too & at night we all went down to West Hebron & got the mail."

            Sun. Jul 30: " In the morning Billy took the milk down to the Factory and when he came back we all went to church Edgar & Nina & we heard a sermon by Mr. Willard McEachron & his text was in Luke the 6 chapter it was ‘Give & it shall be given unto you’ and it is a nice pleasant day rained a very little last night & was cooler to day."

            Mon. Jul 31: " In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory and Billy went over & helped Charley to cut oats and I did when I came back & in the afternoon we all drawed in oats for me in the field above Billys & we have got them all in and it is a nice day warm & clear very dry."

            Tues. Aug 1: " In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory and Billy helped Charley all day to cut & draw in oats and when I got home Everett was here & he got me to go down to Argyle after dinner on business & when I came back I went over & helped Charley to draw in oats & at night I went down to school meeting. Dake Reynolds was Chairman & C. H McGeoch  Trustee myself for Clerk & William Weir for Collector voted to raise by tax $110. & it is a very warm & dry & clear day."

            Wed. Aug 2: " In the morning Billy took the milk down to the Factory and when he came back he went over & helped Charley to draw in oats and I mowed the hay up on top of the hill back of the barn & then mowed the swail down in the meadow orchard & in the afternoon I raked the hay up on top of the hill & then we had a light shower & Billy came home & cut some weeds & I raked the rest of the rye tailings and we had a nice rain about night is a hot day."

            Thur. Aug 3: " In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory and Billy cut some weeds & chored around & when I came back we fixed some fence up along the bend above Billys & in the afternoon Charley came over and we drawed in 1 load from on top of the hill & the swail in the meadow orchard and 3 loads Charley raked it and it is a good hay day & warm too."

            Fri. Aug 4: " In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory & Billy fixed some fence up between Charley & me & when I got back we made fence up along the road in the sheep field and in the afternoon we went over & helped Charley to get in his oats & then we drawed in our hay up on top of the hill 3 load & the rye tailings 1 load that finishes us up and it is a very hot day good hay day."

            Sat. Aug 5: " In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory and Billy did’nt work to day & when I got back I went up & fixed fence along the sheep field & Billy helped awhile & in the afternoon I went up & finished the fence along the sheep field & was busy too. & at night Billy & I went down to West Hebron & got the mail and it is a very hot day we had a heavy shower last night washed some in the potato field heavy thunder."

            Sun. Aug 6: " In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory and when I came back we all went to church & we heard a sermon by Mr. McKenzie & his text was1 Peter the 4 chapter & the 8 verse and we stayed for Sabbath school and it is a nice pleasant day hot & drying off fast."

            Mon. Aug 7: " In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory and Billy didn't work to day and he cut some grass down to McEachrons & when I came back I took a grist down to West Hebron & had to leave it and in the afternoon  I went over & helped Charley McGeoch to draw in the rest of his hay and it is a nice day some cool & clear too cool air."

            Tues. Aug 8: " In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory and Ruby & Roscoe went with me & when I came back I went up back & got a few blackberries and in the afternoon I helped Billy to draw in his hay 3 loads all done with hay I guess & about night James McWhorter meat man came along & I sold him the Bull & Steer for $58 to go next Monday at the Hook we deliver them and it is a nice day clear & cool nights quite cool just like fall and it is good hay weather too."

            Wed. Aug 9: " In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory and when I came back Georgia & the children went up home and I chored around and in the afternoon I went down to West Hebron & got the grist and chored around when I came back & Billy did’nt work to day & it is a nice pleasant day warmer Billy went a long blackberrying."

            Thur. Aug 10: " In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory and it rained part of the day not very hard and in the forenoon I piled the wood in the shed & in the afternoon I chored around & drawed up 2 loads of old wood at the hog pen & it is a cloudy day but did’nt rain much. Billy did’nt work to day."

            Fri. Aug 11: " In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory and it rained a heavy shower on my way down & when I came back we all went down to West Hebron to Orries a visiting and it is a pretty cloudy day but did’nt rain any after the shower & did’nt clear off either very cloudy & rusty weather potatoes are rusting in places."

            Sat. Aug 12: " In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory and when I came back I went up in the back fallow & got a few berries and in the afternoon I cut a few weeds & chored around at one thing & a nother and it is pretty cloudy day & some clear & very hot & at night we had a heavy thunder shower Billy did’nt work to day."

            Sun. Aug 13: " In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory and when I came back we all went to church and we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron & his text was Hosea the 2 chapter & the 1 verse I think and it is a nice pleasant day cleared off nice warm too but some windy."

            Mon. Aug 14: " In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory and Billy went at drawing manure from the sheep shed to up on top of the hill back of the barn and I chored around when I came back and in the afternoon we took the bull & steer down to Rob't. McWhorters & had to wait till night to get our pay & it is a nice pleasant day cool night & clear days."

            Tues. Aug 15: " In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory and Billy drawed manure up on top of the hill back of the barn & I chored around when I came back & in the afternoon we went up in the woods & cut some poles & put them on top of the wall up along the long field & fixed fence around that field & it is a nice pleasant day warm but cold nights."

            Wed. Aug 16: " In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory & when I came back we all went a visiting up to Uncle Martin Rogers and came back by West Hebron & got the mail and in the forenoon Billy drawed manure up on top of the hill back of the barn & in the afternoon he cut brush & it is a nice pleasant day warm & clear too very dry again."

            Thur. Aug 17: " In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory and when I came back I got a few berries & then we all went down to Tinkeys lake to the Town Picnic had a very good time got home in time to help milk & in the forenoon Billy finished drawing manure & drawed a few stone into the barn yard from the long field & in the afternoon he cut brush and it is a very hot day very dry & dusty again."

            Fri. Aug 18: " In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory and when I came back I helped Billy to draw stone up on the long field and in the afternoon we threshed the rye tailings & some other rye and it is a very hot day clear dry & very dusty."

            Sat. Aug 19: " In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory and when I came back I helped Billy to draw stone from the field above his house and it was terrible hot and in the afternoon Billy cut some brush up in the back wood fallow and I went up  Belcher way to see a game of ball & I did’nt stay long and at night Billy & I went down to West Hebron & got the mail & it is a terrible hot day clear & dusty too."

            Sun. Aug 20: " In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory and when I came back we all went to church & 2 of Billys children & we heard a sermon by a Mr. Reed and it is a very hot day and dry & very dusty. clear & hot too.

            Mon. Aug 21: " In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory and Billy plowed all forenoon just began for the first for rye & when I came back I began painting the hay barn & I worked at it the rest of the day & got 1 coat most on & in the afternoon Billy cut brush around the fences and it is a nice pleasant day very hot & dry & dusty some potatoes are dying or rusting some corn is drying up like every thing else."

            Tues. Aug 22: " In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory and when I came back I finished painting the barn 1 coat & then went up in the woods & picked a few berries and Billy plowed up in the long field  for rye & in the afternoon we weaned the lambs & sold or 7 was taken away left 18 and I painted some (the second coat) on the Hay barn & Billy sawed some old wood & cut some weeds along the fences & it is a very hot day clear & dry."

            Wed. Aug 23: " In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory and when I came back we all & 3 of Billys children went down to the ‘Oaks’ to the church Picnic we all had a good time & did’nt get home till night and in the forenoon Billy plowed for rye up  in the long field and in the afternoon he cut brush up in the back woods & it is a nice day some cloudy but hot & dry."

            Thur. Aug 24: " In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory & Billy did’nt work to day & when I came back I painted some on the Hay barn and in the afternoon Charley McGeoch, John McKernon & I went up to Tilfords & Joe Reids to look over their silos and when I got home I chored around & it is a hot day some cloudy rained a little shower in the morning but did’nt amount to much. In the afternoon Georgia & the children drove down to Orries at West Hebron & got the mail."

            Fri. Aug 25: " In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory and when I came back I chored around & painted some & Billy plowed up in the long field for rye & got most done and in the afternoon we threshed some rye & then I took a grist down to North Argyle & left it couldn't get it back and Billy cut up some old wood at the hog pen & it is a nice day hot about night we had a light shower but went around didn't rain much."

Aug 26: " In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory and Billy cut weeds along the road & I painted some when I got back & finished the hay barn & then we  threshed some rye & in the afternoon we picked some stone in piles up on the big side hill & it is very hot day some cooler in the morning clear & pleasant."

            Sun. Aug 27: " In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory and when I came back we all went to church & Edgar & Nina & we heard a sermon by Mr. Willard McEachron & his text was in the 46 Psalm & we all stayed for Sabbath school & it is a nice pleasant day & warm to & some windy too Ruby isn't feeling very well to-day."

            Mon. Aug 28: " W B. This is for Tuesday   In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory and when I came back I went down along the road below the barn & got the milk wagon full of pumpkins & brought them up to the  Hog pen to boil for the pigs & Billy dug at the spring up above his house & we cleaned up the rye & in the afternoon we laid a piece of stone wall between Doc Kinney & me up back of the barn on top of the hill & fixed some fence and at night I boiled a kettle of feed for the pigs for the first & it is a very hot clear dry & dusty too. This is for Tuesday Aug 29."

            Tues. Aug 29: " This is for Monday  In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory and when I came back I helped Billy to dig some at the spring up above his house in the swail he got it about 4½ feet deep some water not much and in the afternoon Billy finished plowing up in the long field all done for rye and then drawed a few stone & then cut weeds & it is a nice day only hot & very dry & dusty and in the afternoon I drove down to West Hebron & got the mail & took Ruby down to see the Doctor she was sick last night & Orrie & Eva came up & stayed with us.  This is for Monday."

            Wed. Aug 30: " In the forenoon I took the milk down to the Factory & when I came back I chored around & Billy dug a ditch over in the big field to the spring and in the afternoon I sowed the rye & picked the plums about 1 bu and Billy dragged at it. It was terribly dusty and dry too & it is a hot dry day."

            Thur. Aug 31: " In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory & when I came back I drew a few pumpkins to the Hog pen and Billy finished dragging the long field or the rye & went up to John McKernons & borrowed his roller & rolled at the rye till noon and Johnnie & Mary came down a visiting & stayed nearly all day and in the afternoon Billy began & cut a little corn down in the meadow orchard but was green & he quit & went at cutting weeds around the big side hill and it is a very hot dry & dusty day looks a little like rain at night."

            Fri. Sept 1: " In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory & when I came back I drawed some pumpkins for the cows & pigs and Billy finished Rolling the rye & took the roller home and in the afternoon Billy cut brush up in the back fallow and I went down to West Hebron & got the tire sat on my Buggie and it is a pretty cloudy day warm but got cooler & rained a very little. I am about sick."

            Sat. Sept 2: " In the morning Billy took the milk down to the Factory and I am about sick laid around the house most all day & when Billy came back he threshed (the rest of the day) rye & it rained some last night & nice steady rain nearly an inch & some through the day I layed around all day & was pretty sick part of the day some better at night."

            Sun. Sept 3: " In the morning Billy took the milk down to the Factory and I helped to milk but am not feeling very well to day & Orrie, Eva, Georgia & Ruby went to church and they heard a sermon by Mr.    and I stayed at home with Roscoe & kept house & it is a nice day some cloudy but cleared off & didn't rain much through the day nice rain last night."

            Mon. Sept 4: " In the night I was very sick so Billy went down to West Hebron & got the Doctor and Billy took the milk down to the Factory and when he came back he chored around & in the afternoon he cut brush up back and I was on my back all day pretty bad the Doctor was here two times and it is a nice day cooler to day."

            Tues. Sept 5: " In the morning Billy took the milk down to the Factory & when he came back he drawed a few pumpkins & then took Orrie & Eva down home to West Hebron and in the afternoon he took a grist down to North Argyle & got it back home again & it is a very cool & windy day nice fall weather and I am not much better I am in bed all day the Doctor was up once and at night Johnnie & Mary came down & stayed all night."

            Wed. Sept 6: " In the morning Billy milked & took the milk down to the Factory and when he came back he threshed rye till noon and in the afternoon he went up in the back fallow & cut brush and I am in bed all day but feeling a little better eat a little not much and it is a nice day clear & cool Fall weather in earnest potatoes look fair around here dying some not much."

            Thur. Sept 7: " In the morning Billy milked & took the milk down to the Factory I got out of bed to day & got out doors & chored around some cut a little corn & when Billy came back he cut some corn down in the barn orchard & in the afternoon he cut corn down in the meadow orchard good corn so he says and it is a nice pleasant day warm & clear"

            Fri. Sept 8: " In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory again & Billy went at cutting corn & then worked on the road nearly all day & I drawed some pumpkins when I got back & put on a kettle of feed I was nearly sick too and in the afternoon Ruby & I went down to West Hebron & got the mail and it is a nice day warmer & some cloudy looked like rain but did’nt rain much."

            Sat. Sept 9: " In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory and when I came back I drawed 4 jags of pumpkins & chored around & helped to cut a little corn & Billy cut corn nearly all day in the meadow orchard and in the afternoon I helped some & we threshed a few oats 4 bu and it is a nice day warmer & dry too clear & hot sun and I am feeling a little better to-day."

            Sun. Sept 10: " In the morning I took the milk down to the factory and when I came back we all went to church & we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron & his text was the 25 Psalm & the 21 verse & we came home at noon & it is a nice pleasant day clear & dry & hot."

            Mon. Sept 11: " In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory and when I came back I chored around & cut some corn back of the barn took the black horse up to Weirs & got 2 shoes put on & Billy cut corn in the barn orchard & in the afternoon we drawed stone to wall up the well that Billy dug in the swail above his house & we got part of it stoned up and I was just about sick & we drawed 2 load of pumpkins to the barn & 1 to the hog pen & it is a pretty cloudy & windy day cool too."

            Tues. Sept 12: " In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory and when I came back I picked a few pears & helped to cut a little corn back of the barn & Billy cut corn in the barn orchard and in the afternoon we finished stoneing up the well got it in pretty good shape and then I boiled a kettle of feed & chored around & Billy went at cutting corn in the barn orchard & with a little of my help he got it all cut and it is a nice pleasant day warm & rather windy but it got quite cold at night."

            Wed. Sept 13: " In the morning We all went out to the County Fair had a good time & Billy took the milk down to the Factory and when he came back he cut corn in the meadow orchard and it is a cold day for the time of year cloudy dusty & windy."

            Thur. Sept 14: " In the morning we all went out to the Fair and it was cold and we had a good time only it was cold uncomfortable on the ground & Billy took the milk down to the Factory & when he came back he cut corn down in the meadow orchard & it is a cold day some cloudy & windy dry & dusty too."

            Fri. Sept 15: " In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory & when I came back I chored around & in the afternoon I cut some corn & boiled a kettle of feed and Billy did’nt work to day and it is a nice day cool but warmer to day dusty."

            Sat. Sept 16: " In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory and when I came back I helped Billy to cut corn in the meadow orchard & we got it all cut all done now & in the afternoon  we went down to Mahaffys & cut our Buckwheat & sat up what we cut and it is a nice day cold in the morning but was warmer to-day and at night Billy drove down to West Hebron & got the mail."

            Sun. Sept 17: "In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory and when I came back We all went to church & we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron and his text was well I have forgotten and we came home at noon and a man & his Lady from Glens Falls came out to see me about those suits that are against me and it is a nice pleasant day warmer to day & terrible dusty & dry.     at night Georgia went down to West Hebron & got Orrie & Eva."

            Mon. Sept 18: "In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory and when I came back I went down to S. Mahaffys & helped Billy to cut & set up Buckwheat and we did’nt get done & in the afternoon I went out to Fort Edward & rode up to Glens Falls on the Electric car & seen my Lawyer Kellogg and Orrie & Eva went as far as Argyle & Billy drawed 2 load of Pumpkins & 2 load of wood and began husking a little & it is warmer quite hot & terrible dusty."

            Tues. Sept 19: "In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory and when I came back I went down & helped Billy to finish the Buckwheat and in the afternoon we both husked corn down in the meadow orchard and it is a very warm day some cloudy & looks like rain at night it did rain some and it came very easy & slow."

            Wed. Sept 20: "We had a nice little rain last night. In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory and when I came back I helped Billy to thresh rye and we threshed 12 Doz. and in the afternoon we cleaned it up 11 bu & then we husked corn down in the meadow orchard and Georgia & the children took Orrie & Eva down home at West Hebron and it cleared of very warm some cloudy but a warm day."

            Thur. Sept 21: "In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory and Billy did’nt work today for me he dug part of his potatoes and it came on rain before noon & we had a nice rain & found a Buck sheep with my sheep and I sorted out a few old sheep & put them with the lambs and in the afternoon Billy took a grist for me & himself down to North Argyle and left it & I chored around & it is a pretty cloudy day & we had a nice rain."

            Fri. Sept 22: "In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory & when I came back I picked a few apples & Billy worked for himself in the forenoon & in the afternoon Billy began digging potatoes down in the meadow orchard & I picked a few apples & helped to dig some & picked up the potatoes about 25 bu very light and it is a nice day cool & windy too."

            Sat. Sept 23: "In the morning I took the milk down to the Factory and when I came back I picked a few apples & then picked potatoes down in the meadow orchard and Billy dug potatoes there and in the afternoon I got the team & we drawed in the potatoes 2 jags 59 bu. and drawed 2 load of pumpkins & then Billy went down after the grist at North Argyle and I done the chores & it is a nice day some warm & pleasant but cool nights & I quit carrying the milk to the Factory and at night we all went down to West Hebron & got the mail and it was cool."

            Sun. Sept 24: "I went to church & I heard a sermon by Mr. Wiley & his text was 1 Peter the 2 chapter & the 2 verse and I came home at noon & Georgia & the children stayed at home & kept house and it is a pretty cloudy day windy & cool too."

            Mon. Sept 25: "In the morning  we got up early & Georgia & I took the children down to West Hebron & left them with Orrie & we went on down to Salem to attend Court. My suit between Bratt Woman & myself was tried after dinner it took about 1½ hours & the jury decided no cause of action so I was free on that case. the Oatman case is set down for to-morrow morning and we came home feeling good we had 1 or 2 Thunder showers we brought the children home with us it rained hard on us. cloudy day in the forenoon Billy cut brush up in the back woods & in the afternoon he dug a few potatoes & then threshed rye & it is warm too. fine rain washed some too”

            Tues. Sept 26: " In the morning we got up early & went up around by Belcher to see John Gibson and we left the children with Orrie again & we got down to Salem before 9 o'clock & it rained nearly all the way on us & pretty hard part of the day the Suit did’nt come off Oatman did’nt put in an appearance so I give his attorney $20 to pay the costs partly on the case if he would throw it up. & Georgia went to the young peoples Convention at Salem & then we came home & brought the children & it rained one shower after another nearly all day lots of water now & Billy threshed oats nearly all day. In regard to the Oatman Law Suit his Lawyer wanted $35 to pay costs & he would throw up the case I told my Lawyer I would give him $20 So he said he would take it . I gave a check."

            Wed. Sept 27: "In the forenoon we threshed rye & cleaned up what oats Billy threshed and in the afternoon Billy dug a few potatoes down in the meadow orchard I picked them up & we onloaded them & drawed in part of the husked corn & 2 load of pumpkins and left both wagons out in the field 1 for corn 1 for Potatoes and it is a nice day after the rain some cool."

            Thur. Sept 28: " In the forenoon Billy cut brush up along the road by the sheep field & I went down & sat up what Buckwheat was down & their was a lot of it too. & when I came back I picked a few apples and in the afternoon we both husked corn in the Barn orchard & it is a nice day warmer but quite windy. The corn is pretty light."  

            Fri. Sept 29: " In the forenoon Billy dug potatoes down in the meadow orchard & he got done there I picked some apples & picked the potatoes & Billy husked some in the barn orchard & in the afternoon Billy husked some I picked some apples & we drawed in the potatoes & what corn we had husked & 2 load of pumpkins and it is a very windy day not very cold East wind we had a Thunder shower late in the evening."

            Sat. Sept 30: " In the forenoon we cleaned up what rye their was & threshed some rye and I chored around and in the afternoon we all went out to Fort Edward & I went on up to the Falls. I sold a load of potatoes for 40¢ per bu. and the oldest pigs for $6½ per cwt. and they are to go Tuesday Oct. 10. to Bickly and it is a cold raw & winday & cloudy & Billy husked corn in the field or barn Orchard."

            Sun. Oct 1: "             We all went to church & Nina went too & we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron & his text was well I have forgotten and it is a cold raw & windy day for the time of year."

            Mon. Oct 2: " In the forenoon Charley came over & we all dug potatoes in the field cross from the barn & got a load on about 11 o'clock & I took it out to Glens Falls 46 bu. at 40¢ per bu. To T. L. Lincoln and in the afternoon Billy husked corn in the barn orchard and it is a cold raw day for the time of year it spit snow & is cold as winter."

            Tues. Oct 3: " In the morning Billy went down & sat up the Buckwheat again & then went at digging potatoes in the field cross from the barn and I picked apples and in the afternoon I picked apples awhile & Billy husked & then we picked the potatoes & brought them in the cellar & drawed in 2 load of pumpkins and it is a cool day some cloudy & windy."

            Wed. Oct 4: " In the morning Billy husked awhile & I picked a few apples & drawed up a load of old wood and then we went at drawing in Buckwheat 2 jags for Shaw we put it in his barn and brought 1 load or jag home & went at threshing it & went back & got the other load or jag and left what we did’nt thresh on the floor and it is a nice day cold last night frooze the ground I guess it would kill potato tops ours are about all green yet and it got warmer before night."

            Thur. Oct 5: " In the forenoon we drawed in corn stalks and then we finished threshing the Buckwheat & cleaned it up their was 24 bu & we drawed it over to the House and then we drawed in 2 loads of corn from the barn orchard & Georgia & the children went up to Johnnies & stayed all day and it is a nice day some cool."

            Fri. Oct 6: "  In the forenoon I took a grist down to West Hebron & got the Double Wagon repaired tire sat etc. and Billy went over & helped Charley McGeoch to dig potatoes and in the afternoon we both dug potatoes in the field cross from the barn I picked a few apples & it is a cool day some cloudy & looked like rain but cleared off cooler"

            Sat. Oct 7: " In the forenoon Billy dug potatoes cross from the barn & I picked some apples & dug some and in the afternoon we both dug potatoes in the same field very good crop and it is a cold raw day but pleasant in the sun & in the afternoon Georgia & the children drove down to West Hebron & got the mail and it was cold."

            Sun. Oct 8: "Their was no preaching at out church so Billy & I went up to Belcher to church & heard a sermon by  Mr. Thompson Methodist and Georgia & the children stayed at home & kept house & at night I went up to John McKernons & we took a ride and it is a cool raw day."

            Mon. Oct 9: "In the morning Johnnie & Mary came down & helped us to kill our Fall pigs 5 of them we got done about 11 o'clock & we put 8 little pigs in to fat & I sold 4 small ones to Newt Rogers for $5.00. and in the afternoon Billy & I went at digging potatoes in the field cross from the barn a nice crop and it cleared off warmer & we drawed 2 load of Pumpkins. warm & looked like rain."

            Tues. Oct 10: "In the morning I got up early & took the pork out to Glens Falls & about 15 bu of potatoes their was 669 # of pork 5 pigs at 6½¢ per # (it is only 6¢ now) and the Potatoes at 37½¢ per bu. and I sold a load to Collins & Bush for 38¢ to be taken any time next week. and I got some Bran & Midlings & some corn meal for Billy and I  got home about 3 o'clock & finished picking apples & then dug potatoes & Billy dug all day in the field cross from the barn & his girls picked them up and it is a pretty cloudy day but cleared of quite warm Hot for time of year."

            Wed. Oct 11: "Billy dug Potatoes all day in the field cross from the barn & Nina & Eliza picked them up we left 1 bu out in a pile in the field & put the rest in the house cellar 3 loads or 100 bu in all we dug Ruler's No.2's they were a nice crop &  quite green & peel up quite badly & it is a nice pleasant day warm & some cloudy Heavy dew last night."

            Thur. Oct 12: "Billy & I dug potatoes all day in the field cross from the barn & we got 100 bu. & Nina & Eliza picked them up we put them all in the House cellar & we made 4 loads it is a fine digging & nice potatoes & it is a nice pleasant day warm & some cloudy Heavy dew. We drawed a load of Pumpkins."

            Fri. Oct 13: "Billy & I dug potatoes all day in the field cross from the barn & we got 100bu. Delewares Nina & Eliza picked them up & it is very hot. Hot as summer we put them all in the cellar 4 loads & they area a fine crop no mistake very large & smooth potatoes. and it is a very hot day acts like a dry spell now.  We drawed a load of pumpkins"

            Sat. Oct 14: "Billy & I dug potatoes all day in the field cross from the barn & we got 100 bu again we got them in 3 loads to-day and they are nice crop no mistake & nice quality & Eliza picked them up for a penny a basket and Uncle Tom H came down & got a few pumpkins and he is getting better and at night Billy & I went down to West Hebron & got the mail and we drawed 1 load of pumpkins."

            Sun. Oct 15: "We all went to church & Edgar Nina & Eliza went with us & we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron & his text was in Hebrews and we stayed for Sabbath school and it is a nice pleasant day warm but cooler than it has been."     

            Mon. Oct 16: "In the morning we drawed in some corn from the meadow orchard & put it in the sheep stable under the barn and then we went at husking corn in the barn & in the afternoon we finished husking & read the barn floor out ready to draw in corn & Georgia & the children went down to West Hebron and it is a nice day some cloudy but quite warm."

            Tues. Oct 17: "In the morning Glenroy came up & helped us & we went at drawing in corn & got it all in & in the afternoon Billy & I drawed 3 load of pumpkins & dug the rest of the potatoes on the Hill cross from the barn & then put on a full load for market and it is a nice pleasant day clear & the corn was very dry and it is very Hot for time of year."

            Wed. Oct 18:"In the morning we had a heavy shower & I began packing apples with John Kane we started in at Wm. Gibsons and Billy took a load of Potatoes out to Glens Falls at 38¢ per bu. 45 bu. and it cleared off warm & it is a nice day some cloudy."

            Thur. Oct 19: "I packed & headed apples all day with Kane and we got done at Gibson & then went down to John Crosiers & then to John Gibsons & Billy dug potatoes all day in the little orchard back of the barn & Edgar picked them and at night I came home & we drawed in the load of potatoes & put them in the cellar. and it is a nice warm day clear & pleasant cooler air."

            Fri. Oct 20: "In the morning Kane & I went up to John Shields it took all day and it rained quite a lot & was cold Georgia & the children went up to Johnnies & stayed all day till I came back & Billy dug potatoes when it wasn't raining in the barn Orchard & it is a cold rain cleared of cool at night I came home at night"

            Sat. Oct 21: "I packed & Headed apples all day with Kane & we went up to Johnnie W.s first & then up to Philip Russells & did’nt get done there & Billy took a load of potatoes up to Glens Falls 49 bu at 38¢ per bu. and it was so cold at night we drawed in 3 load of pumpkins and Georgia & the children went down to West Hebron & got the mail & Orrie & Eva came up with them & it is a cold raw day"

            Sun. Oct 22: "It frooze quite hard last night and we all went to church & we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron & his text was 1 John the 4 chapter & I think 8 & 9 verses and it was Sacrament Sabbath and it was a cool raw day some cloudy & warmer at night."

            Mon. Oct 23: "In the morning I went up to Philip Russells & Kane & I finished packing his apples & went up to Dan P. Hurds & put up for him the rest of the day and I came home by West Hebron and went to Smarts to rehearse a song or two and Billy drawed 2 load of Pumpkins and then he finished digging potatoes back of the barn all done now. & it rained some but not much very cloudy & foggy."

            Tues. Oct 24: "In the morning I  went up to Dan P. Hurds & we finished packing his apples & then went on up to Mrs. Wm. Shields & put up for her till night and Billy onload the potatoes & then husked corn in the barn & it is a nice day it was very cloudy but cleared off warm too."

            Wed. Oct 25: "In the morning I went up to Mrs. Wm Shields & we got done packing apples there & then came down & put up a few for John Gibson & then I came home & Billy husked some corn & put on a load of potatoes & he went up to Theodore's & got the old sow and it is a nice day some cloudy."

            Thur. Oct 26: "In the morning John Kane & I went down to Mack Shields and put up what apples that he had 43 barrels and it is a nice day warm and when I got home I had all the chores to do Billy took a load of potatoes out to Glens Falls 50 bu at 38¢ per bu and he got on a fly I guess & didn't get home till the next morning I guess and it is a beautiful  day clear & warm too."

            Fri. Oct 27: "In the morning we went down to Sandy Shields and put up what he  had 17 bbls & then went over to Mrs. Moores & put up what they had 15 bbls and it is a pretty cloudy day it rained some and Georgia & the children went up to Johnnies & took some Butter and Billy husked corn all day and it is a cool rain."

            Sat. Oct 28: "Billy began digging the ditch where the lead pipe is from the barn up to the spring he worked all day at it and Georgia took a small grist down to West Hebron & got it ground and we packed apples up to John Robinsons all day and it is a pretty cloudy day not very cold it rained at night."

            Sun. Oct 29: "We did’nt go to church so all stayed at home & kept house and it rained quite hard till 11 o'clock warm rain too. it cleared off in the afternoon and was’nt very cold in the afternoon Georgia & Ruby took Orrie & Eva down home at West Hebron & Roscoe & I stayed at home & kept house."

            Mon. Oct 30: "In the forenoon Billy & I finished drawing the Pumpkins 3 load and then Billy began plowing in the field above the lower house & I sat out the grape vines & chored around & we had dinner early & then we all went down to Uncle Alexander Williamson's funeral at West Hebron and it was a large funeral he was burried at the lake Cemetary and Billy ditched in the afternoon & it is a beautiful day warm & pleasant muddy."

            Tues. Oct 31: "In the morning I went up to John A Robinson's & Kane & I packed & headed apples all day and at night I came around home by West Hebron & got some meat & bought a dash churn & got James Lowe's paper board and in the forenoon Billy plowed in the field above his house & in the afternoon he fixed a little fence & then husked corn and it is a cloudy & cool raw windy day rained quite a lot in the afternoon."

            Wed. Nov 1: "In the morning John Kane came down here & we put up our apples 16 barrels and Billy helped us & in the afternoon we went up to John McKernons & helped to put up his apples 15 barrels we got done and Billy husked corn & it is a rainy day it rains very easy & hard some times it is very wet now water most every where it is a cold rain. Peacraft took the last of the lambs 18 at $50."

            Thur. Nov 2: "In the morning I went up to Belcher & Kane & I put up 1 bbl of apples for Andy Foster & then went up & put up Delbert Chapmans 20 bbls about I think and then put up 3 for Mr. White & then 3 for Mr. Oatman and then I came home & Billy husked corn & Charley McGeoch came over & made a place to throw out manure in the cow stable and James & Jimmy Lowe were here putting on paper and it is a nice day only a cold day snowed a little last night & frooze too."

            Fri. Nov 3: "In the forenoon we finished putting up Mr. John Robinsons apples 10 barrels all told & Billy dug at the ditch & in the afternoon he helped Charley to draw in corn & we went down to McFarlands & put up at their apples & I came home at night & James Lowe got done papering & painting so I had to take him down to West Hebron and it snowed nearly all the time & hard too. and it is a nice pleasant day some warmer."

            Sat. Nov 4: "In the morning I went down to McFarlands & put up the rest of their apples & then went over to Mr. Hurleys & worked till night and it rained a lot last night & in the morning & it cleared off cooler and in the afternoon Georgia & the children took a grist down to West Hebron & had to leave it & Billy husked corn nearly all day & it is very wet now."

            Sun. Nov 5: " We all went to church & we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron & his text was 1 Samuel 15 chapter & the 22 verse and we came home at noon I done the chores all alone to day and it is a nice day some cloudy & cool too."

            Mon. Nov 6: "In the morning I went over to Mr. John Hurleys & Kane came too & we finished his apples 33 barrels & in the afternoon we went up to Wm. David Halls & put up his apples 9 barrels & then went up to Mr. Tilfords & put up 9 barrels & we both went home and Billy dug in the ditch nearly all day and Georgia & the children went down to West Hebron & got the grist and it is a nice pleasant day some cool but pleasant."

            Tues. Nov 7: "In the forenoon Billy & I dug at the ditch and drawed in a load of Turnips and in the afternoon we went down to Argyle & voted it was election and I voted Republican straight and when we came back we dug awhile at the ditch and loaded up the apples 1 load 16 bbls and it is a nice pleasant day warm & clear too.  Assembly went 92 Republican & 56 Democrats & 1 ind Dem & 1 vacancy"

            Wed. Nov 8: "In the morning I went up to Mr. Tilfords & Kane & I packed apples all day and I came home at night & Billy took a load of apples down to Salem 16 bbls all of them at $2 per bbls. and it is a nice pleasant day warm & clear too."

            Thur. Nov 9: "In the morning I went up to Mr. Tilfords & Kane & I packed apples got done there at noon & then we went up to Joseph Reids & put up what he had & in the forenoon Billy worked at the ditch & in the afternoon he cut wood up in the back woods and it is a nice pleasant day & Georgia & the children took a grist down to West Hebron & got it back."

            Fri. Nov 10: "In the morning we loaded up a load of Potatoes & Billy took them down to Salem at 35¢ per bu and I went down to Frank Barkleys & put up his apples 17 barrels & Kane met me there He was over at Ramseys and then we went down to James R. McEachrons & put up 8 barrels for him & that finishes up for this year 19 days I worked & Kane 20 and it is a nice day it got some cooler."

            Sat. Nov 11: "In the morning we loaded up a load of potatoes & I took them down to Salem 50 bu at 35¢ per bu and Billy husked corn nearly all day & Mary came down & helped Georgia to clean house and when I got back I boiled a kettle of feed & helped to husk till night & it is a cloudy & cool & wet day it snowed & rained from 9 o'clock till night & began & snowed after night the ground was white at bed time."

            Sun. Nov 12: "In the morning the ground was white snow was about 1 inch & frooze too and Billy came up & we went down & got the young cattle & put them in the stables and we went to church & we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron & we came home at noon and it didn't thaw much of any & snowed a little through the day very muddy & sloppy now & it got quite cold at night."

            Mon. Nov 13: "In the morning we loaded up a load of Potatoes & I took them out to Fort Edward & put them in McWhorters boat Farmers boat we all ship them and no pay now & in the forenoon Billy cut wood up in the back woods & in the afternoon Billy husked corn & chored around & it is a nice pleasant day only cold frooze hard last night it did’nt near all thaw out. I brought home part of the new pipe lead home."

            Tues. Nov 14: "Billy & I dug the ditch across the road up above the house & layed over 100 ft of the new pipe and got the ditch nearly filled up 100 ft and it is a nice pleasant day clear & a nice day very wet now."

            Wed. Nov 15: "In the morning we put on a load of Potatoes & I took them out to Fort Edward & got the rest of my lead pipe and it began & rained or frooze as it came nearly and in the forenoon Billy cut some wood up back and in the afternoon he husked corn & when I got back I helped to some and it is a cold rain cleared off at night & cold freeze   hard times.

            Thurs. Nov 16: "In the morning Billy & I dug the rest of the ditch across the road by the barn & filled in some of the ditch & Bob Leonard was to come but he didn't get along so I started after him & met him on his way & he soldered the connections 3 of them and he got done & we got it all laid before noon & got the water started & in the afternoon Billy & I worked at filling in the ditch & we got it all done & it got quite cold at night & Georgia & the children took a grist down to West Hebron and it is cold at night."

            Fri. Nov 17: "In the morning we loaded up a load of potatoes & I took them out to Fort Edward & put them on the Farmers boat and it is a nice pleasant day some warmer and in the forenoon Billy cut wood & in the afternoon he husked finished in under the barn floor or sheep stable & we drawed in a load of Turnips and it is a nice day warmer."

            Sat. Nov 18: "In the morning we loaded up a load of potatoes &I took them out to Fort Edward & sold them to Gilchrist at 37¢ per bu. and got home earlier to day & when I got back & got dinner we went at drawing Turnips 3 load & in the forenoon Billy cut wood up in the back woods and it is a pretty cloudy day warmer at night Billy drove down to West Hebron & got the mail Alex Sloan took my Bull up to John A. Robinsons & got his we traded awhile ago."

            Sun. Nov 19: "We all went to church & we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron & his text was Hebrews the 10 chapter & the 12 & 13 verses & we came home at noon & it is very muddy & it is a cloudy day looks like rain & did a little."

            Mon. Nov 20: "In the forenoon we went at pulling & drawing in turnips cold too. & it came on rain before 11 o'clock & then we husked awhile and in the afternoon Billy took the job of pulling the turnips on halves & I went at plowing down in the field above the road & it is a cool raw day rained a little but cleared off at night. at night we drawed in what turnips Billy pulled."

            Tues. Nov 21: "In the morning I took a load of potatoes out to Fort Edward to Gilchrist and Billy pulled turnips & I got home before 1 o'clock & I helped Billy to draw in his turnips and it is a nice day some cool & rather cloudy the roads are very good some sticky in places Billy got the turnips all gathered"

            Wed. Nov 22: "I topped turnips now & then all day & husked some corn & I am not feeling very well am most sick with a cold & Billy topped the rest of the turnips that he pulled on shares and it is a pretty cloudy & rained quite a lot now & then."

            Thur. Nov 23: "In the morning Billy took a load of potatoes over to Salem 53 bu at 40¢ per bu. & he went for himself & brought home some feed and I husked some corn & topped some turnips & it is a nice day cleared off & was some colder at night I am not feeling very well to day neither."

            Fri. Nov 24: "In the morning Billy helped me to load up a load of potatoes & I took them down to Salem 51 bu. at 40¢ he had "Dan" horse to drive down to North Argyle & I got home before chore time awhile and it is a nice pleasant day warm too but cool air frooze a little last night and I chored around at night."

            Sat. Nov 25: " In the forenoon I husked some corn & topped turnips drawed a load of turnips over to the house cellar from the Horse barn & cellar & in the afternoon I plowed down in the field above Billys and done the chores and am about sick at night again & it is a pretty cloudy day & cool air frooze a very little but not much."

            Sun. Nov 26: "We all went to church & we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron & his text was Proverbs 4 chapter & 23 verse some place and we came home at noon & it kept me busy from that time till night doing the chores and it is a nice day cool air & clear but the wind turned at night & got warmer & cloudy looks some like rain."

            Mon. Nov 27: "I took a load of potatoes down to Salem 49 bu at 40¢ & came back by John H. Robinsons & got some lumber for my new stable & Billy helped me to load up & I got home before chore time and it is a very cloudy day but did’nt rain at night I got scared at my throat filling up so drove down to W.H & seen a Doctor he told me that I had the quinzy an offle sore throat. and it is warm.

            Tues. Nov 28: "I stayed in the house all day & Georgia went down to West Hebron & got the Doctor to come up. & Billy done the chores & he took his poultry out to Glens Falls & my gobbler at 13¢ per # & my throat is very sore. cloudy & warm."

            Wed. Nov 29: "I stayed in the house all day with an offle sore throat the Doctor came up & Billy plowed in the forenoon & husked corn in the afternoon and done the chores and Georgia & the children took a grist down to West Hebron & got it home & it is warm."

            Thurs. Nov 30: "  stayed in the house all day with an offle sore throat can't hardly swallow anything and Billy killed his pigs but done the chores for me and the Doctor was up to see me my throat aches like a tooth-ache and it is warm & cloudy weather."

            Fri. Dec 1: " I stayed in the house all day with sore throat or quinzy the Doctor came up & lanced it but is did’nt do much of any good it hurt offly I almost fainted away and Billy done the chores for me & had the team to go over & draw over some bedding from Cuthberts and it is a warm cloudy day looks like rain but don't. I could’nt swallow my water to day  Mr. McEachron was up awhile to see me."

            Sat. Dec 2: "I am a little better to day Georgia sent one of Sloan's boys down to Argyle after a cake of ice & I think that helped me the most of any thing  & she made a little ice cream I could suck it down & began to get better. Thank God. Billy worked for me & Charley McGeoch came over to lay the sills under the new stable and they quit about 2 o'clock but Billy done the chores and Alex Sloan went down to West Hebron & got the mail. & it is as warm as summer cloudy but rained quite a lot in the night."

            Sun. Dec 3: "We did’nt go to church so all stayed at home & kept house and Billy done the chores for me and I went out to the hog pen for the first awhile it is a nice day warm as summer in the morning but rained a little in the afternoon. I am feeling better to day & Glenroy & Joe came up awhile."

            Mon. Dec 4: "It snowed nearly all day & pretty hard too part of the day I got around to day some & a nasty day too. Billy went down & got the young cattle again and it snowed nearly ½ foot of snow it rained nearly all night last night I guess. about night it quit snowing & cleared off colder."

            Tues. Dec 5: "quite cold in the morning and In the forenoon I took a grist down to West Hebron & had to wait till 2 o'clock for it or later & it is rough going all wagons the snow came right in the mud or it would of made sleighing no frost under the snow. quite cold at night."

            Wed. Dec 6: "In the forenoon I went down to Argyle to get some Hardware & Bran & bought a Parlor stove for Orrie and in the afternoon I husked some corn & chored around it keeps me busy the most of the time doing chores & it is a cloudy & cold day some clear but a winters day rough going too."

            Thurs. Dec 7: "In the morning Charley McGeoch came over & worked at the cow stable & I helped him and it is a cold day cloudy too & looks like snow but did’nt and at night I husked some corn & topped a few turnips & and it is cold winter weather."

            Fri. Dec 8: "In the morning Charley McGeoch came over & worked at the cow stable all day about & I helped him and chored around and it is a nice day some cloudy but warm & looks some like a thaw it thawed quite a lot the snow melted & some bear ground and it got some colder at night & I husked some after supper. warm & nice in the barn."

            Sat. Dec 9: "In the morning Billy came up & we worked in the barn yard all day plowing & scrapeing & leveling up & making barn yard fence & sheep yard fence and we got about done and it is a pleasant day only cold all day in the shade I guess & in the afternoon Georgia & the children drove down to West Hebron & got the mail cold at night & I topped a few turnips after supper."

            Sun. Dec 10: "We all went to church & we heard a sermon by Mr. Willard McEachron & his text was 1 Samuel the 27 chapter & the 1 verse and we came home at noon and it is a cold raw winters day rough going."

            Mon. Dec 11: "  husked corn in the forenoon most of the time & put up a small grist and chored around & in the afternoon I husked some corn & took Doc Kinneys scraper home and Sid Heath came up & he took the horns of from the yearlings & bull calf 10 of them & it is a pretty soft day south wind & is thawing out pretty fast ground is nearly all bear again looks like rain."

            Tues. Dec 12: "In the forenoon I took a grist down to West Hebron & got it home again & got some Harness repaired & it came on rain about 10 o'clock & rained nearly all day & very hard part of the time it is an old soaking rain and in the afternoon I husked some corn & got all done & at night I topped the rest of the turnips and it is a warm day warm day warm as summer.  John A. Robinson brought me down part of a quarter of Beef at 5½¢ per #.

            Wed. Dec 13: "I chored around at one thing & another all day carried the husked corn out of the barn and shelled some corn fixed a little fence etc.  in the afternoon Georgia & the children went up to Belcher & done some trading and it is a nice pleasant day warm like summer it is some cloudy it got cooler at night & rather windy too."

            Thurs. Dec 14: "In the morning Billy came up & Johnnie & Mary came down & we killed our Pork 9 pigs and they were good ones and we did’nt get done till most 2 o'clock and I chored around till night and it is a pretty cloudy day not very cold frooze a little last night at or about night is snowed some"

            Fri. Dec 15: " I got up early and done the chores & it came on rain & I waited till it quit it was about 8 o'clock then & loaded up & took the Pork out to Glens Falls to Mason Bros 1710 # 9 of them @ 5½¢ per # and I brought home ½ ton of Bran & Midlings & did’nt get home till after dark a little and it was terrible going the worst I ever saw part of the way it was a cold raw windy day quite cold at night snow is nearly all gone here."

            Sat. Dec 16: "In the morning Charley came over & we worked on the stable all day and it is a pleasant day but cold & freezing too and at night I went down to West Hebron with Charley McGeoch and got the mail & it is pretty rough going & cold."

            Sun. Dec 17: "I went to church & I heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron & his text was Mark the 7 chapter & the 34 verse and Georgia & the children stayed at home & kept house and it is a cool & cloudy day thawed a little and Georgia is about laid up with Rheumatism."

            Mon. Dec 18: "In the morning Charley came over & he & I worked all day at the cow stable and got most done and it is a beautiful day clear & pleasant & warm too. Thawing out again I guess."

            Tues. Dec 19: "In the morning I got up early and done the chores & took 10 bu of Buckwheat for myself & 6 bu for Billy to East Greenwich to get made in to flour and it rained nearly all the way down & part of the way back & I got back about 12½ o'clock and I chored around till night and it is a nasty time & day also rained a lot & is terribly muddy it is nearly thawed out again I guess."

            Wed. Dec 20: "  drawed wood from up in the back woods nearly all day I got 5 loads on a wagon & it is rough & very muddy I sorted out a cord of good wood for Orrie and it is a beautiful day for time of year warm & clear freezes nights some."

            Thurs. Dec 21: "In the morning Charley McGeoch came over & we finished the cow stable and then I went at drawing wood from the woods & in the afternoon I drawed all that was cut in the woods 2 loads and it is a nice pleasant day clear & warm cool in the morning but thawed out not much frost in the ground some on the north side of the hills where the sun don't shine muddy . Potatoes are worth 50¢ per bu at Salem. rye straw $8½ a ton I put the cattle in the new stable."

            Fri. Dec 22: "In the morning Charley McG. came over & helped me to load up a load of rye Straw & I took it over to Keyworths beyond Argyle 2200 # @ $8.50 per ton. and I chored around when I came home and at night we all went over to the church to a dinner Social and it freezes a little nights & thaws out day times not much frost in the ground and it is a nice pleasant day Indian Summer I guess."

            Sat. Dec 23: "In the morning I went over & helped Charley McG. put on a load of rye Straw (he has my wagon rack) & then I sawed & split wood for Orrie & put on a load of split wood & in the afternoon I took the load down to her at West Hebron and it is pretty good going some muddy it is a nice warm day some cloudy . at night I churned & sorted a few potatoes 20 bu"

            Sun. Dec 24: "Their was no preaching or service at out church so we all stayed at home & Kept house and it is a pretty cloudy day and very windy and it snowed a little but got warmer & thawed it all away South-East wind."

            Mon. Dec 25: "A Merry Christmas to you. We all went down to Orries at West Hebron a visiting & a Christmas Dinner and I came home & done the chores & went back & at night we all went to a Christmas tree at the Hall a Union tree for all . and some body run into me & broke 1 wheel somewhat and it is a windy & cool & cloudy day snowed a little last night but not enough to cover the ground all up."

            Tues. Dec 26: "In the forenoon after I done the chores I sawed the rest of Orries wood & split it & put it in the wagon & in the afternoon I took the wood down to Orries at West Hebron and took a small grist & left part of it & it is a cold day quite cool & didn't thaw any hardly rough going."

            Wed. Dec 27: " n the morning I done the chores and then I worked at one thing & another all day making places for the sheep Hens pigs etc. and it is a beautiful day clear & pleasant but cold air at night I went down to West Hebron & got my wagon & a small grist also at night Maud the little mare took sick"

            Thurs. Dec 28: "In the morning Billy came up to help me and he went at threshing oats & threshed all day & I helped when I was’nt doing chores & the mare is sick all day and about night I went down & got John Willett to come up & see her & he said she had spasmodic colic he stayed till after midnight & she was better so he went home and it is a cool raw day some windy."

            Fri. Dec 29: "In the morning Billy went up in the woods & went at chopping and after I done the chores I went up & helped him & I broke my new axe and in the afternoon we cleaned up the oats 55 bu. & then went at threshing rye & Georgia & the children went up to Belcher & got me another new axe and it is a nice day only cold & getting colder."
            Sat. Dec 30: "In the morning Billy went up in the back woods & went at chopping wood and I done the chores & got the sheep in & then went up & helped Billy to chop &  we cut wood in the afternoon also and it is a cold day indeed & a strong South West wind. Roscoe was sick at night and it is Winter weather in earnest"

            Sun. Dec 31: "Roscoe is some better in the morning but has a fever yet. I went to church alone & heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron & his text was the 90 Psalm the last clause of the 9 verse and Georgia & the children stayed at home & kept house & it is a cold raw day but pleasant or clear. some cloudy at night We have come to the close of another year all very well except Roscoe has a cold it has been a very good year very dry Summer I had bad luck financially or Legally."
