            Fri. Jan. 1: “ Cool but pleasant  We did’nt do much but chore around I wrote some and stayed in the house and at night Ruby went to a party up to Hartford & Roscoe went away and Will McNeil brought over a hind qr of Beef 105# @ 10¢ and it is fine sleighing A. Happy New Year.”

            Sat. Jan. 2: “Stormy 24º above    It snowed nearly all day & we did’nt do much but set around the house and I wrote some and at night Roscoe went down to West Hebron and it is not very cold it party cleared off at night & quit snowing”

            Sun. Jan. 3: “cold but pleasant 16º above    Roscoe, Marion & Harold and Ruby, Hazel & Marjory went to church and they heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron and they stayed for sunday school and Georgia & I stayed at home and kept the youngsters & it is a nice pleasant day but cool air & nice sleighing.”

            Mon. Jan. 4: “cold 5º below in places 7º above    In the morning after we done the chores Roscoe took the big team and took me out to Hudson Falls and then he came back home I attended Court as a Juror I boarded at Jen Durkees and it is fine sleighing & cold too I attended court to-day at night I went up to Glens Falls and done some errands after supper I went to church and it is a nice pleasant day only cold.”

            Tues. Jan. 5: “cold 12º below out to Hudson Falls    I attended court all day Roscoe is doing the chores at home and it is a cold day but pleasant nice sleighing at night I went up street & went to a picture show and it is warmer at night the children have colds but well every other way was on a panel to-day. Roscoe was down to West Hebron.”

            Wed. Jan. 6: “cloudy & warmer    Roscoe got up early and Willie McFarland came down and helped him to load of potatoes and Roscoe took his last load out to Glens Falls 63 bu at 40¢ & he got home early & Willie stayed here all day & done chores & husked some corn and I attended court to day and after dinner I went up to Glens Falls and saw Roscoe & I rode down with him to Hudson Falls and it is fine sleighing but warmer & cloudy at night & began raining some it acts like a thaw at night I went down to Fort Edward awhile.”

            Thur. Jan. 7: “Sleighing all gone  Pleasant & big thaw last night    I attended court all day and was on a Panel to day and was out till 8 o’clock before we could agree we was taken out to a Hotel for our Supper and after we got out we went up to the skating rink and to the picture show Roscoe took the big team down to West Hebron and got them shawd and he & Willie took the dog away and shot him and they had an offle hard south wind & gutted the snow it spoiled the sleighing around here nearly all bare ground sleighing is good yet out here.”

            Fri. Jan. 8: “Pleasant but windy    I attended court all day was on a Panel & we was taken out for our dinner and was called on another Jury at night & we was called up for a night session & was kept there till bed time. Roscoe went down to West Hebron after Ruby & Marion it is a nice day only windy not very cold we are about done at court. the childrens colds are better”

            Sat. Jan. 9: “Pleasant   We got dismissed about 10 o’clock and got our pay and came down to Fort Edward Edd Pollock & I and Roscoe had came out after us & Edd rode out as far as Argyle with us and it is a nice pleasant day pretty good sleighing out to Argyle & from there up here it is all bare ground about.  we got home about 2 o’clock to bad to loose our sleighing.

            Sun. Jan. 10: “Pleasant    We did’nt go to church to day any of us so all stayed at home and kept house at night Roscoe went down to West Hebron to church and it is a nice pleasant day thawed some in the sun it is good wheeling”

            Mon. Jan. 11: “Pleasant   In the morning Roscoe took Ruby & Marion down to West Hebron to school and I husked some corn and in the afternoon I cut up the limbs into stove wood and husked a little corn and went down in the woods along the swamp & cut a little cord wood and Roscoe chored around and it is a nice day cool some cloudy.”

            Tues. Jan. 12: “cool & cloudy snow & rain   I husked some corn and chored around and we did’nt do much but chore around It snowed about 2 inches and then rained the rest of the day water run down the hills but the snow did’nt thaw very fast it is a cloudy day it was some cooler at night. at night it was cooler & Roscoe went down to West Hebron”

            Wed. Jan. 13: “cooler & windy   In the forenoon Roscoe & I put up part of a load of potatoes in bags I sold 2 load in Glens Falls and in the afternoon Roscoe, Georgia & Mary E. went up to Johnnies and I stayed at home & kept the youngsters and it is a pleasant day but getting colder I husked a little corn and it is getting colder. At night Roscoe went down to W. H.”

            Thur. Jan. 14: “cloudy warmer   In the forenoon we chored around & put up the rest of the load of potatoes and in the afternoon I husked corn & helped to churn and Roscoe went down to West Hebron to get his cutter repaired and it was cloudy & looked like a storm in the morning but cleared off and was a nice day it was quite cold in the morning but got warmer before night”

            Fri. Jan. 15: “Stormy   In the forenoon I husked corn and Roscoe helped his Mother to wash and in the afternoon Roscoe went down to West Hebron and got the girls and I husked corn & chored around & it is a nice day some cloudy but did’nt storm much good sleighing yet”

            Sat. Jan. 16: “Pleasant & warm   In the morning we loaded up the load of potatoes & Roscoe took the load out to Glens Falls to Sam Halpen 78 bu @ 40¢ the load was the childrens and he found good sleighing & he got home before dark and I husked corn most of the day and it is a nice day pleasant & warm the snow wasted quite a lot in the afternoon the sleighing is very good around here yet thin in places at night Roscoe went down to West Hebron.”

            Sun. Jan. 17: “Stormy & rain   It was raining & snowing so we did’nt any of us go to church so all stayed at home & kept house It rained nearly all day and the sleighing is going but a lot of ice yet. it keeps warm.”

            Mon. Jan. 18: “rainy & warm   It rained nearly all day and came right down for a fare. Roscoe took Ruby & Marion down to W. H. to school he took a wagon the sleighing is nearly gone lots of ice yet too on the road. I husked corn part of the day it is a nice time to husk it keeps warm”

            Tues. Jan. 19: “cloudy fairing off   In the forenoon Roscoe went up to John Weirs & got some plank for Lewis Mattison & took them down to West Hebron & Clayton Barkley came along & I rode down to Argyle with him & we saw John Conway about selling the old Homestead of Grandfather Blacks and in the afternoon I husked some & after dinner Roscoe & I went down to the woods & split some cord wood logs that was cut some time ago and it is a nice pleasant day warm & thawed a lot getting muddy in places at night Roscoe went down to W. H.”

            Wed. Jan. 20: “Pleasant but cooler   In the forenoon I husked some corn and Roscoe & I drawed over a load of oat straw & put it up in the horse barn and in the afternoon Roscoe took a grist down to West Heron & brought Marion home she has a bad time with her teeth her face is all swollen up and I went down in the woods and cut some wood & at night Rob. Hughey came along and stayed all night and it is a nice day some cooler.”

            Thur. Jan. 21: “Pleasant   In the forenoon Roscoe & I drawed over 2 loads of Hay from the big barn to the Horse barn and in the afternoon we went down to the woods and cut wood awhile and it is a nice day some cool getting colder at night.  Marions face & teeth are no better.”

            Fri. Jan. 22: “cold 18º above   In the forenoon after we got the chores done Roscoe & I went down to the woods and cross cut some wood & split it up & in the afternoon Roscoe went down to West Hebron and got Ruby and I went down to the woods & cut some wood and it is a pleasant but cold day at night Billy’s folks & Sam Robinson came over and spent the evening Sam brought his fiddle & we had lots of music. Marions face does not ache quite so bad to-day. It began snowing after night awhile”

            Sat. Jan. 23: “Snowed & rain   It snowed about 4 or 5 inches last night and it got warmer and turned to rain and rained all day the snow nearly all thawed away and I husked corn part of the day we did’nt get up very early. so only had 2 meals to-day and Marions face is better to day the swelling is going down.”

            Sun. Jan. 24: “Pleasant & cooler   Georgia, Hazel & Harold and Roscoe & Ruby went to church in 2 rigs they heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron and they stayed for sunday school and Marion & I stayed at home & kept the youngsters and it is a nice pleasant day some cool nights at night Roscoe & Ruby went down to West Hebron to prayer meeting and it looks like a storm.”

            Mon. Jan. 25: “Stormy snow & rain   In the morning it was snowing & Roscoe carried Ruby & Marion down to West Hebron to school & Billy came over & he & I husked corn most of the day and Roscoe got home about noon & he went down after them at night & brought them home & it rained most of the day & hailed but frooze as it came and it is a cloudy & stormy day but did’nt thaw much.”

            Tues. Jan. 26: “Pleasant & warm   In the morning Roscoe took the girls down to school at W. H. and I husked corn and in the afternoon Roscoe took his Mother over to a Sunday School Convention at our church & he left her there for the Evening Session & went down to W. H. after the girls and I stayed in the house and kept the youngsters and at night Ruby & Hazel went over to the church to the Convention & brought their Mother home with them & Roscoe went too & I stayed at home & kept the youngsters and it is a nice pleasant day fair sleighing”

            Wed. Jan. 27: “warm but cooler   I husked corn part of the day and Rob Hughey came along and he helped to husk some corn and it is a nice day (the girls drove down to school) only cloudy it looked like a storm all day. In the morning We loaded up a load of potatoes (the last load in the barn cellar) & Roscoe took the load out to Glens Falls 75 bu to Metzner at 40¢ per bu they was the childrens potatoes he got home after dark a little”

            Thur. Jan. 28: “cloudy & rain but frooze as it came   It snowed some last night & turned to rain but was cool & frooze as it came and it is a cloudy day in the forenoon Roscoe went down to West Hebron & got his horse shawd and Rob Hughey & I husked some corn and at night Roscoe went down to West Hebron. It snowed some at night & got colder before night a little Roscoe went down & got Mrs. Bussing”

            Fri. Jan. 29: “colder 5º above   In the forenoon We went at drawing cord wood up to the house from down in the woods along the swamp Rob helped some and I cut some wood down there & they got all the wood drawed up that was drawed down to the foot of the hill & they went up back & got 1 load of pole wood that Jim Wrye cut and Lydia came home with the girls & at night Georgia, Ruby, Lydia, Marion, Hazel, Harold, Marjory & James & I went down to Argyle to a show and Roscoe went too & Mrs. Bussing kept the little ones. Bernie Carswell insured the buildings to-day.”

            Sat. Jan. 30: “Cold 3º below   In the forenoon Rob & I went over in the woods & sawed a few trees into cord wood & split them we was’nt long doing it and after dinner Rob & Roscoe went up back & got a nother Jag of wood or poles by Jim Wryes & I cut the poles up into stove wood & cord wood. Ruby & Lydia took Mrs. Bussing down home and it is a cold day but pleasant.”

            Sun. Jan. 31: “cool 15º above   Roscoe, Ruby & Lydia, Marion, Hazel & Marjory went to church and they heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron and they stayed for sunday school and Georgia & I stayed at home and kept house and it is a cloudy day and began snowing in the afternoon and snowed till after night 2 or 3 inches it is moderating”

            Mon. Feb. 1: “cold & cloudy   It was raining & frooze as it came in the morning and in a little while it began snowing & got colder & kept getting colder all day wind was in the north and Lydia went home with the girls when they went to school & Rob Hughey went away and Roscoe drove down to West Hebron and I churned & chored around & husked some corn & put up a small grist and it is a cool & windy day. at night Roscoe went down to West Hebron.”

            Tues. Feb. 2: “rain Hail & snow   In the morning Roscoe took the girls down to West Hebron school & he stayed down & brought them home at night and I chored around & sorted a few potatoes & it is a stormy day & kept getting colder & windy too a bad day”

            Wed. Feb. 3: “cloudy & cold   In the morning Roscoe took the girls down to school & then came back and they are going to stay down to night and I went over in the woods and shoveled & swept what snow I could of the wood and in the afternoon we chored around It is a cloudy & cold day quite cold at night.”

            Thur. Feb. 4: “cold but pleasant   In the forenoon Roscoe & I drawed the wood out of the woods we drawed part of it out along the bottom of the woods on the other side & the other part on this side in the meadow and we got it all drawed down and in the afternoon Roscoe took a small grist down to West Hebron & got it back & brought home the new sleighs & rack & Ruby & Marion too. I chored around and it is a nice day only cold.”

            Fri. Feb. 5: “Pleasant At night it rained   Roscoe drawed our ice from the Mud Lake 4 Loads 87 cakes Rob Smith cut it for 2½ ¢ a cake and I packed it in the bin in the cellar and Orrie came up & stayed all day & Uncle Oscar & Aunt Sarah came down & made a visit & Mr. Simmons came down & seen me about business and at night the girls brought home 2 girls Lydia & Florence and at night Georgia, Roscoe & I & the girls went down to a dance at Argyle O. E. S. & Roscoe went and got Mrs. Bussing & she kept the youngsters we stayed most all night.”

            Sat. Feb. 6: “It rained a lot last night it is very sloppy to day On the afternoon Roscoe drawed 2 loads of ice for Norm Mahaffy & I chored around & husked some corn in the morning we packed the rest of the ice & covered it with sawdust. and Everett came up & got the girls it is a cloudy & warm day.”

            Sun. Feb. 7: “Pleasant   Roscoe, Ruby & Harold and Marion, James, Hazel & I went to church and we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron and his text was Galatians 4 chapter & the last clause of the 7 verse & we stayed for sunday school and Georgia stayed at home and kept the youngsters and it is a warm day & cloudy it thawed quite a lot and the sleighing is good yet.”

            Mon. Feb. 8: “Warm & cloudy   In the forenoon Roscoe & I husked some corn for a grist and in the afternoon Roscoe took a grist for the horses down to West Hebron and got it home and I sorted apples and I got 13 barrels put up or sorted & at night I sorted 8 barrels more 21 barrels for a load & Roscoe went down to West Hebron and it is a nice day warm & thawed some & it snowed some last night.”

            Tues. Feb. 9: “Pleasant but colder   In the forenoon we drawed cord wood up to the house from down in the meadow by the woods and in the afternoon Roscoe finished drawing up the cord wood & I cut limbs into stove wood at the house and it is getting colder all day but pleasant at night Roscoe went down to West Hebron & it is a cold night.”

            Wed. Feb. 10: “cold but pleasant 7º above   In the forenoon we cut the rest of the limbs into stove wood & cut up a tree that blowed down up in the orchard and in the afternoon I sold another load of apples & a load of potatoes and I sorted some potatoes down in the House cellar & put them in to sacks and Lydia came home with the girls from school. Her & Ruby had company at night & Roscoe went  up to North Hebron to a Necktie social and it is a cold day but pleasant quite cold at night.”

            Thur. Feb. 11: “cloudy   In the morning we loaded up a load of Apples and Roscoe took the load out to Glens Falls 21 bbls @ $1 per bbl (Ben Davis) to the Red Line and he got home a little after night and I husked corn & sorted some potatoes and it is a cloudy day it stormed a little and then cleared of.”

            Fri. Feb. 12: “cloudy & warm   In the forenoon I husked some corn and in the afternoon we all went up to Johnnies and stayed awhile & there was no school at West Hebron to-day and at night Roscoe went down to West Hebron and it is a nice day it is some cooler at night & Cleared of and the sleighing is good yet.”

            Sat. Feb. 13: “cold but pleasant   In the morning we loaded up a load of potatoes (the first load out of the house cellar) and Roscoe took the load out to Glens Falls 82 bu @ 40¢ to Halpin and he got home rather late he had to onload in two different places and I sorted a nother load of apples 21 barrels and it is a nice day it thawed quite a lot for a cold day but the sun shone all day.”

            Sun. Feb. 14: “cloudy & warm   Ruby, Marion, Hazel & I went to church and we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron and his text was in John and Mother & Roscoe stayed at home with the youngsters and at night Roscoe, Mother, Ruby & Marion went to church and they heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron and I stayed at home & kept the youngsters and it is a cloudy day but warm it thawed some.”

            Mon. Feb. 15: “big rain all day   Ruby was sick so she & Marion did’nt go to school and it rained right along all day and the water run freely everywhere I husked corn part of the day and Roscoe chored around & at night went down to West Hebron he took a sleigh the sleighing is thin around here now & lots of ice the snow is nearly all off the fields warm.”

            Tues. Feb. 16: “cloudy & warm   In the forenoon Roscoe took a grist a good big one for the Horses & cattle and he stayed nearly all day but got the grist home he took it in the big sleighs the girls went to school in a wagon. at night Roscoe & Ruby went to meeting over to our church and in the morning we intended to take a load of apples but Roscoe drove old Grey down the road a mile or two & he thought the sleighing was‘nt very good.”

            Wed. Feb. 17: “Pleasant   In the morning Roscoe took the girls down to school they are going to stay down to night at Everetts for the play and in the afternoon Roscoe, Georgia & Hazel went to church over to our church and I kept the youngsters and sorted some potatoes and it is a nice pleasant day and the nights are cold nearly zero in places Roscoe went to the play at night to West Hebron”

            Thur. Feb. 18: “cold & windy   In the morning we both loaded up 2 parts of loads of apples 21 bbls and I took my load as far as Mr. Macks & Roscoe took all the apples 21 B to Glens Falls Red Line @ $1 & he got home after dark a little & I sorted apples and chored around and it is a clear day but a cold north wind blew all day & it was cold too. When Roscoe got home he went down to W. H. & got the girls.”

            Fri. Feb. 19: “Pleasant   In the forenoon Roscoe & I drawed over hay & straw from the big barn to the horse barn and in the afternoon I sorted the rest of a load of apples and Roscoe went down & got Mrs. Bussing to stay with the children to night & when the girls came home from school they brought home Lydia & Florence and at night we all (but 3 little ones) & Smith went down to a play at Argyle & stayed for the dance and we had a good time we had a load & did’nt get home till most morning & it is a nice pleasant day but cold nights.”

            Sat. Feb. 20: “Pleasant  to-day snow melted fast   In the morning we both took 2 loads of apples down the hills to Mr. Macks & there I put my load on Roscoes sleigh 24 bbls & he took them out to Glens Falls Red Line @ $1 per bbl and when I came back I sorted the rest of the apples all of them and Roscoe got home before dark and it is a nice warm day the sleighing went to day mostly wagons around here at night Roscoe took his girl (Florence) home no sleighing East of us.”

            Sun. Feb. 21: “Pleasant & warm   Roscoe, Ruby & Lydia went to church and they heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron and it was Communion Sabbath and Georgia & I stayed at home & kept the youngsters. She is about sick to-day & was all night the snow went fast to-day It is warm in the sun. at night Roscoe took Lydia down home to W. Hebron.”

            Mon. Feb. 22: “Pleasant & warm   In the morning we got out the double Wagon and loaded up a load of apples and Roscoe took the load 13 bbls out to Glens Falls to S. Halpin and I sorted a load of potatoes Giants I sold some for 30¢ to be delivered at Salem and it is a nice pleasant day Roscoe got home a little after dark and there was no school to-day.”

            Tues. Feb. 23: “warm & cloudy   In the morning we loaded up a load of potatoes Giants and Roscoe took the load down to Salem 60 bu. @ 30¢ we are storeing them till Glines goes to loading a car and I sorted another load of Giants and it is a nice warm day cloudy but did’nt storm the children have bad colds. and I took the sow pig over to Billys but no use.”

            Wed. Feb. 24: “rainy day   It rained all day and is warm & very muddy bad roads now the girls went to school and Roscoe took old Grey down & got a shoe put on at West Hebron and we sat around the house and the ice is thawing away the snow banks are getting scarce only on the north side of the hill.”

            Thur. Feb. 25: “rain & snow   It rained and about noon it turned to snow and snowed till night & it came down for a fare and it melted fast but it came so fast that it accumulated fast the ground soon got white it must have been six inches at night & still coming right down getting colder too but wet”

            Fri. Feb. 26: “2 feet of snow big snow storm & snowed all day   It snowed all night & is still snowing it snowed most all day nearly 2 feet of snow fell here I should think Tom Lamon brought his sister over to school & stayed all day here the girls did’nt go to school to Hebron Roscoe broke out the road on our beat and I sat around the house at night Roscoe went down to West Hebron to a show & it is colder but cloudy yet.”

            Sat. Feb. 27: “cloudy & cool 20º above   We chored around in the forenoon & put up a small grist & in the afternoon Roscoe took it down to West Hebron and got it ground & brought it home & he got the team shawd and the roads are getting beat out on the main road hard traveling on the cross roads”

            Sun. Feb. 28: “Pleasant but cold 10º above   Roscoe & Marion went to church and they heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron and they stayed for sunday school and the rest of us stayed at home and the babe is about sick with a bad cold he had the croup last night we were up with him most all night We had the Doctor come up & see him before night awhile and at night Roscoe went down to prayer meeting at West Hebron it thawed a little in the sun to-day.”

            Mon. Mar. 1: “cold but pleasant 19º above 2º below zero at Argyle   In the morning after we done the chores we loaded up a load of potatoes & Roscoe took the load down to Salem 82 1/6 bu at 30¢ ’Giants’ and I went down to Argyle & paid George H. Kinney some money on a note he had against me & when I got home I went at sorting potatoes & I sorted after night awhile I put them in bags and Roscoe went in a sleigh good sleighing he got home before night awhile and it is a nice pleasant day but cold in the morning it thawed in the sun.”

            Tues. Mar. 2: “cloudy & snow or squally   In the morning we loaded up a load of potatoes and Roscoe took the load down to Salem 84 1/3 bu at 30¢ Giants and I sorted potatoes nearly all day and it is a nice warm day it was squally in the afternoon and turned colder before night wind got in the West & was cold the girls stayed down with Lydia and Roscoe got home early it was windy too he went down to West Hebron at night.  the babe is better”

            Wed. Mar. 3: “cold but pleasant 20º above   In the morning we loaded up a load of potatoes & Roscoe took the load down to Salem 81 1/3 bu at 30¢ Giants & I sorted potatoes and chored around most of the day. & Roscoe got home before sundown and it was a cold day the wind was in the north a winters night I sorted potatoes at night.”

            Thur. Mar. 4: “cold but pleasant 13º above zero in places   In the morning when it warmed up some we loaded up a load of potatoes & Roscoe took the load down to Salem 80 1/3 bu at 30¢ Giants and I sorted potatoes nearly all day and at night Roscoe took Ruby down to West Hebron to practice their play and it is a nice pleasant day but cold nights sleighing is thin down toward Salem”

            Fri. Mar. 5: “Pleasant   In the morning we loaded up a load of potatoes and Roscoe took the load down to Salem 64 2/3 bu at 30¢ Giants and I sorted another load and Lydia came home with the girls from school and at night Georgia, Lydia & I went down to a dance at Argyle the Odd Fellows Hall & Ruby went & Harold & Lydia went down & got Mrs. Bussing to take care of the babe & Roscoe & Marion stayed at home and it is a nice pleasant day.”

            Sat. Mar. 6: “Pleasant & warmer   In the morning we loaded up a load of potatoes and Roscoe took the load down to Salem 67 1/3 bu @ 30¢ Giants he put this load in the Car and the sleighing is about gone When Roscoe got home he hitched on the Double wagon & drove down to the stone house & made a track and I sorted another load and at night Roscoe went down to West Hebron and it is a nice pleasant day.”

            Sun. Mar. 7: “Pleasant   Roscoe, Georgia & Marjory went to church and they heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron and they stayed for sunday school and the rest of us stayed at home & kept house and they went to church in a sleigh and it was very poor sleighing. It is a nice pleasant day. thawed quite a lot. at night Roscoe went down to West  Hebron & took Lydia home.”

            Mon. Mar. 8: “Pleasant   In the morning Roscoe & I loaded part of a load on the big Wagon & I put part of a load on the sleighs & took it down to (or as far as) the stone house & put my load on the wagon and  Roscoe took the load down to Salem 65 bu and I came back and sorted another load of Giants and it is a nice pleasant day thaws day time in the sun but cold nights freezes hard. When I came back from taking the potatoes I took Mothers calf down to Argyle 147 # @ 9½ per # to Mr. Shaw. At night the girls stayed down to Everetts all night.”

            Tues. Mar. 9: “Pleasant   In the morning Roscoe & I put part of a load on the wagon & the balance on the sleighs & I took the sleigh load down to the stone house and put my load on Roscoes Wagon & he took the load down to Salem 66½ bu Giants @ 30¢ & I came back and sorted another load of potatoes and Roscoe gets home before night awhile and it is a nice pleasant day only cold nights the snow goes very slow.”

            Wed. Mar. 10: “Pleasant   In the morning Roscoe & I loaded up part of a load on the wagon & put the rest of the load on the sleighs and I took them down to the stone house & put them on the wagon & Roscoe took the load down to Salem 67 bu @ 30¢ and I came back & sorted another load of Giants and it is a nice day pleasant but cold nights & freezes hard the sleighing is getting poor nearly all wagons now.”

            Thur. Mar. 11: “Pleasant   In the morning Roscoe & I put part of a load on the wagon and the rest on the sleighs & I took it down to the stone house & put it on the wagon & Roscoe took the load down to Salem 67 bu @ 30¢ & I came back & sorted a nother load of Giants and it is a nice day warm & pleasant but colder at night & windy too it thawed a lot to-day.”

            Fri. Mar. 12: “Pleasant but cold 20º above   In the morning we got up early  and Roscoe & I load up part of the load on the wagon & part of it on the sleighs & I took the sleigh load down to the stone house & put them on the wagon & Roscoe took the load down to Salem 66 bu at 30¢ & it was cold too we started about sun rise & I came back & sorted another load of Giants and Roscoe got home early and the girls brought Florence Chamberlain home with them & Roscoe & they went over to Jim Lants to a party or dance & it is a cold night it is a pleasant day but cold. In the afternoon Johnnie & Mary came down awhile.”

            Sat. Mar. 13: “Pleasant but cold 20º above   In the morning Roscoe did’nt go to bed when he got home from the dance so we load up part of the load on the wagon & the rest on the sleighs & I took them down to the stone house & put them on the wagon & Roscoe took the load down to Salem 67 bu @ 30¢ & I came back & sorted another load of Giants and Roscoe got home early & at night Roscoe took his girl home & Ruby rode down to West Hebron to practice & Roscoe brought her home. it is a nice day & pleasant & in the forenoon Georgia & I went up to Mr. John Reynolds funeral.”

            Sun. Mar. 14: “Pleasant   Ruby, Marion & Hazel went to church and they heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron & they stayed for sunday school and the rest of us stayed home & kept the youngsters and it is a nice pleasant day it thaws in the sun but freezes all day in the sun the snow goes very slow. cold nights.  at night Roscoe went down to West Hebron to Prayer meeting.”

            Mon. Mar. 15: “Pleasant but cold 22º above   In the morning Roscoe & I loaded up part of the load on his wagon & the rest of the load we put on the Truck Wagon & I took it down to the stone house & put it on Roscoes Wagon & he took the load down to Salem 67 bu @ 30¢ Giants & I came back & sorted a nother load of potatoes & Ruby stayed down to Everetts all night and it is a nice pleasant day but cold air it don’t thaw any in the shade.”

            Tues. Mar. 16: “Pleasant but cold nights   In the morning Roscoe & I put a load of potatoes on 2 wagons & I took my load down to the stone House and put it on Roscoes wagon & he took the load down to Salem @ 30¢ Giants 66 bu and I came back & sorted a nother load of Giants and it is a nice pleasant day but cold air in the shade & cold nights.”

            Wed. Mar. 17: “Pleasant but cold Bess cow time up   In the morning we loaded up 2 parts of loads of potatoes and I took my load down to the stone house & put my load on Roscoes Wagon and he took the load down to Salem 65 bu. Giants at 30¢ per bu and I came back & sorted another load of Giants and it is a nice pleasant day but cold nights Ruby stayed down to Everetts at night & Roscoe went down to W. H. at night.”

            Thur. Mar. 18: “Pleasant & warm   In the morning Roscoe & I loaded up 2 parts of loads of potatoes & I took my load down to the stone house and put it on Roscoes load & he took the load down to Salem Giants 71 bu at 30¢ per bu and when I came back I went over in the orchards on the other place & cut the apple tree limbs that had blown down & in the afternoon I cut apple tree wood up in the old orchard and Lydia came home with the girls from school and it is a nice pleasant day & warm but cold nights.”

            Fri. Mar. 19: “Pleasant  Elsie & Flora Temple cows time up   In the forenoon Roscoe & I drawed some hay over & put it in the Horse barn from the big barn & some rye straw & Roscoe went over & got a load of apple tree wood and I sorted some potatoes Giants and in the afternoon I took Ruby & Lydia down to Argyle they practiced in the  hall for their show at night & I acted as prompter and Roscoe went down to West H. & got his friend & went over to Argyle & at night Georgia, Marion, Hazel, Harold, James & I went down to the Exhibition at Argyle & they danced after the play  Lydia came home with us. Mrs. Bussing stayed with the children They got her in the morning Ruby & Lydia and it is a nice pleasant day cold nights.”

            Sat. Mar. 20: “Pleasant   In the morning I sorted some more potatoes enough for a load Giants & Roscoe took them down to Salem 54 bu at 30¢ this is the last load of the Giants and I sorted some potatoes to go out the other way we have a load gold. Everett came up after Lydia and at night Roscoe took Florence home and in the morning Marion & Florence took Mrs. B. down home and it is a nice day pleasant & warm but cold nights.”

            Sun. Mar. 21: “snowy Alice cows time up   In the morning the ground was all white again with snow and still snowing and we got up so late that we did’nt go to church any of us but after dinner Roscoe & Mother went up to Johnnies they are’nt very well and it is a  nasty day cloudy & snowed a little all day but thawed away as fast as it came.”

            Mon. Mar. 22: “cloudy   It snowed last night the ground was white In the forenoon we put up a grist and Roscoe took it down to West Hebron and got it ground and I chored around sat in the house & done some writing it thawed some and kept cloudy There is no school at West Hebron this week at night Roscoe went down to W. Hebron.”

            Tues. Mar. 23: “Baldy cows time up   In the morning we loaded up a load of potatoes & Roscoe took the load out to Glens Falls to Metzner 60½ bu at 40¢ and he sold another load to Halpin at 37½¢ per by and they are to go Thursday I sorted & put up another load and chored around Roscoe got home about dark and it is very hard going to Argyle and it is a nice pleasant day & warm but cool air in the shade.”

            Wed. Mar. 24: “Pleasant   In the morning we loaded up a load of potatoes and backed them or the load on the big barn Floor. About 9 o’clock Willet Gillis came to saw our wood and Roscoe & I handed it on 12 cord & we got it all sawed about ½ of it we sawed into 3 times and was most night when we got done & I was about sick & Roscoe went down to West Hebron and it is a nice pleasant day only a cool wind.”

            Thur. Mar. 25: “Pleasant & warmer   In the morning Roscoe took the load of potatoes out to Glens Falls 60½ bu to Metzner at 40¢ & he put the old team on ahead down to Shannons corners & Marion & Harold drove Maud down that far & brought the team back and I done the chores and I was sick so went to bed & stayed there all day Roscoe was about sick he got home before night a little & Flora Temple had a calf and it is a warm day some cloudy & warmer thawed a lot. My bowels were the trouble.”

            Fri. Mar. 26: “Windy & cold   In the forenoon Roscoe drove down to Argyle & done some business at the Bank and I sorted some potatoes we have sold two more load to be delivered at Fort Edward Sat or Mon they are Giants at 30¢ and in the afternoon Roscoe was about sick & I sorted some more potatoes and at night we all went down to West Hebron to a dance at West Hebron at Everetts and it was rough & cold too & Windy a bad night but we got home safe at a late hour and it is a cold & raw & windy day.”

            Sat. Mar. 27: “cold & raw   We did’nt get up very early Roscoe is better some  drawed over a jag of hay and put the big sleighs & rack over in one of the Linters on the barn Floor & drawed the other sleighs over there & took the Hay rack of the Wagon & put the sleigh box on it & side boards & got it ready to put a load of potatoes on Georgia & Ruby helped us & then Roscoe took the old or Mollie & Nell down & got them shawd & I sorted another load of Giants it took me after night to do it and it is a cold raw & windy day the roads are drying up fast.”

            Sun. Mar. 28: “Pleasant but cool & windy   Roscoe, Ruby & Marion went to church and they heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron and they stayed for sunday school and Georgia & I stayed at home & kept the youngsters and it is a pleasant day but cool & windy the roads are getting pretty good now. I was sick before night and at night Roscoe went down to West Hebron & he brought up Leon Barkley.”

            Mon. Mar. 29: “cold & windy   In the morning Roscoe & Leon loaded up 2 loads of potatoes and they took both loads out to Fort Edward they had on 112½ bu at 30¢ Giants Glines loaded a car out to Fort Edward and I am on my back & not able to go out I have the Grip I guess. Marion & Harold helped to do the chores the boys got home before night and at night Roscoe took Leon down home at W. H. & got me some medicine & it is a cloudy & cool & raw day some of the children have bad colds.”

            Tues. Mar. 30: “Pleasant but cool   I am on my back most of the time am some better but not able to get out and in the forenoon Roscoe chored around & put up a grist and in the afternoon he took the grist down to West Hebron and got it back home and it is a pleasant day but a cool raw day a back ward time The childrens colds are not much better Hazel & Harold stayed at home.”

            Wed. Mar. 31: “Pleasant but cool   In the morning Roscoe took Ruby down to school she is going to stay down to-night and he got back about noon & another calf came and Roscoe chored around in the afternoon and I am in the house. I am some better to day I wrote quite a lot and was nearly all day & at night Roscoe went down to West Hebron & he got or spoke to a man to help split wood”

            Thur. Apr. 1: “Pleasant but cloudy & warm   In the morning Leon Barkley came up & he split wood nearly all day & Roscoe helped some and in the afternoon he went down after Ruby from school and I am about the same I was up all day but was not out I wrote some and it is a nice day only cool”

            Fri. Apr. 2: “cloudy & cool   Roscoe drawed Horse manure from under the horse barn to over on the other place on the old orchard Leon helped him to load & he spread it from the wagon and I am some better I got out for the first to-day & I helped to split some wood Leon split most of the day and it is a nice day only cool air and at night Roscoe went away to a Social at West Hebron.”

            Sat. Apr. 3: “Cloudy & cold & windy   I felt pretty well to-day I helped to split wood & Harold & James helped me to carry in chunks into the wagon house and Roscoe drawed manure nearly all day over on the other place on the other place on the old orchard & he got it covered & Leon helped him to load & then split wood and at night Roscoe took Leon down home at West Hebron and it is a cloudy cold raw & windy day it looked like snow all day it began snowing at night.”

            Sun. Apr. 4: “Pleasant but cold   Roscoe, Ruby & Mary E. & Georgia, Marion, Hazel & John C. went to church and they heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron and they stayed for Sunday school and I stayed at home and kept the youngsters and after dinner Roscoe & Ruby went up & seen their Grand-Father & Mother they are not feeling very well and at night Roscoe went down to prayer meeting at West Hebron and it is a nice day but cool.”

            Mon. Apr. 5: “cloudy & cool   I split wood nearly all day & Roscoe helped some and put chunks into the wagon House and we got all done and it is a nice day only cloudy & cool we drawed over a small load of hay & put it up in the horse barn and it is cool & backward weather lots of snow banks but some are plowing Ruby did’nt go to school she did’nt feel very well.”

            Tues. Apr. 6: “rain & cloudy   I sorted potatoes part of the day or most of it and it rained in the forenoon but cleared off in the afternoon & Roscoe went down to West Hebron & got his horse shawd and I sorted potatoes & Ruby did’nt feel very well so she did’nt go to school.”

            Wed. Apr. 7: “Pleasant & warmer  Muley cows time up   In the forenoon Roscoe went out to Fort Edward and got a new Horse clipper machine & his Aunt Jen came home with him and I sorted potatoes & in the afternoon we clipped Roscoes horse and at night Roscoe went down to West Hebron Jen stayed all night.”

            Thur. Apr. 8: “Cloudy but warmer   In the morning we went at clipping the big team & we got done about 2 o’clock & then we put up a grist & Roscoe took it down to West Hebron & got it ground & got the horses shawd and it was after dark when he got home & in the morning the girls when they went to school took Jen up to Johnnies and it is a nice day I sorted potatoes in the afternoon.”

            Fri. Apr. 9: “Pleasant & warmer   In the morning we burned the apple tree brush up in the old orchard & then we clipped Mollie & Nell and it was about 4 o’clock and I sorted potatoes till night & at night Lydia came home with the girls from school and they went over to the church to a social & Roscoe went too and I is a nice warm day drying up fast.”   

            Sat. Apr. 10: “rain cloudy & warm    Roscoe & I began plowing down on the big hill by the school house for the first and we plowed all day it is wet in places and in the afternoon Georgia & 2 of the youngsters went up to her folks they are not very well. and at night Roscoe took Lydia down to West Hebron to her home and we had a Thunder shower at night and it is a warm day cloudy and we had a shower about 10 o’clock & again when I was milking.”

            Sun. Apr. 11: “Ruby & Marions cows time up   We did’nt go to church any of us so all stayed at home and kept house it rained some  Thunder shower before night a little we had a nice rain at night Roscoe went down to West Hebron it is a nice warm day the rain starts the grass it look nice.”

            Mon. Apr. 12: “cloudy & some cooler & windy   We both plowed nearly all day with both teams at noon we drawed over a load of Hay & put it in the Horse barn & Roscoe quit before night & drove down to Argyle and got a castine for the side Hill plow and took some bags down to Thomas Macks to get some oats later and it is a nice day to plow windy & cooler it was a little wet in the morning.”

            Tues. Apr. 13: “Pleasant but windy & cool   In the forenoon I  plowed on the big hill back of the school House & Roscoe dragged the piece over below the house over on the other place with the springtooth Harrow and in the afternoon we both plowed with both teams on the big hill with side hill plows & we finished it and it is a cool windy day but pleasant cold at night.”

            Wed. Apr. 14: “Pleasant but cold  Frooze   In the morning Roscoe took a small grist out to Fort Edward & got it ground & got the grass seed & a new ice Cream Freezer. & when he came back he stopped at Thomas Macks & got our seed oats 60 bu @ 72½¢ per bu. and I dragged on the big hill with the smoothing Harrow & after Roscoe got home we went over to the other place & I sowed the piece below the house to oats & Roscoe dragged them in with the smoothing harrow and it is a nice pleasant day but cool it frooze quite hard last night. At night Roscoe went down to W. H. Ruby stayed down all night to Lydias”

            Thur. Apr. 15: “Pleasant   In the forenoon Roscoe took the Oats up to the top of the big hill and brought part of them down the hill & then took his team up to the house & then came back & helped me to draw stone of the hill on the boat & we got the most of them and in the afternoon I sowed oats on the hill & I did’nt finish & Roscoe dragged with the smoothing Harrow & it is a nice pleasant day cold north wind.”

            Fri. Apr. 16: “Pleasant   In the forenoon I finished sowing the oats on the big hill & then went down & sowed the grass seed on the oat ground below the house & Roscoe finished dragging the oats on the hill & began rolling the oats below the house & in the afternoon I sowed the grass seed on the rye below the house Roscoe rolled on the hill & then I rolled the rest of the oat ground below the house & rolled the oats on the hill till night & Roscoe dragged the hill back of the house part of it with the Spring tooth Harrow & it is a nice day at night Roscoe took his wagon down to Argyle to get varnished.”

            Sat. Apr. 17: “cloudy & cool & windy  In the forenoon I sowed the Oats on the hill back of the house on the hill & Roscoe dragged them in with the Spring tooth Harrow & I went over & rolled oats on the hill & in the afternoon I sowed the grass Seed on the oats on the hill & then sowed the seed on the rye up back in the rear end of the big side hill and Roscoe rolled the oats in on the hill back of the house & it is a nice day only cool at night Roscoe went down to West Hebron and a man with an Autobile came here to show or sell us one & gave part of us a short ride.”

            Sun. Apr. 18: “Pleasant   Roscoe & Ruby, Harold, Hazel James & I went to church & we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron & his text was in Philippines the 4 chapter & the 9 verse and Mother & Marion stayed at home & kept the youngsters and it is a nice pleasant day cool air. At night Roscoe went down to West Hebron to church.”

            Mon. Apr. 19: “Pleasant  In the forenoon we drawed over a load of hay & put it up in the horse barn & then Roscoe drawed manure up on top of the hill in the meadow & I loaded it & cleaned out the back house & chored around & in the afternoon we took both teams over on the other place & began plowing sod in the field cross from the creek and it is a nice warm & pleasant day quite warm. Roscoe went away at night.”

            Tues. Apr. 20: “Pleasant   In the forenoon Roscoe drawed Manure up on top of the hill in the meadow & on the big side hill & I loaded it and in the afternoon We both plowed over on the other place in the field cross the creek and it is a nice pleasant day only cool wind it is getting dry again.”

            Wed. Apr. 21: “clear cool & Windy   In the forenoon Roscoe took a grist down to West Hebron & got it back & the girls rode down to school with him & came back at night a foot. & I spread manure up on top of the hill in the meadow and in the afternoon we both plowed over on the other place in the field cross the creek and it is a cool but pleasant day Wind in the north. At night Roscoe went away.”

            Thur. Apr. 22: “Pleasant   In the forenoon Roscoe plowed over on the other place in the field cross the creek & I plowed over there up in the small orchard above the road and in the afternoon I began plowing in the orchard back of the house. & Roscoe finished plowing over in the orchard on the other place & then helped me here and it is getting dry plowing and it is a nice day warm & pleasant.”

            Fri. Apr. 23: “Pleasant & warm   In the forenoon Roscoe took a grist down to West Hebron & the girls rode down with him to school and he got the grist back home & I spread manure up on top of the hill in the meadow and in the afternoon Mr. Sabarine a Overland Automobile man came out here & gave us all a ride down to Salem & down to Cambridge & back home again and we had a fine ride & when we got home 2 other men were or came here to sell us machines & it is a nice pleasant day warm & dry.”

            Sat. Apr. 24: “Pleasant & dry   In the forenoon Roscoe drawed manure up on the big side hill & I loaded it and in the afternoon a Buick Moter man brought his machine here & gave us all a ride down below Salem & back home and a nother man was here to sell us a machine I fixed some fence & spread some manure & Roscoe burned some brush over on the other place in the old orchard & it is a nice day arm & some cloudy”

            Sun. Apr. 25: “Hot & dry  92º   We all went to church & we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron and his text as Job the 11 chapter and we all stayed for sunday school. and it is a hot day and clear & very dry & dusty. at night Roscoe went down to West Hebron to church and it is a Hot day”

            Mon. Apr. 26: “Hot & dry   In the forenoon Roscoe drawed manure up in the big side hill & I loaded it and after dinner Roscoe & I took both teams up & plowed awhile in the orchard & 2 fellows brought a Hudson car & give us all a ride in the car we went down to West Hebron & got Ruby & Marion & went down to Salem & on up the state road nearly to Pawlet & back home and it is a nice warm day dry & dusty.”

            Tues. Apr. 27: “Hot & dry 90º   In the forenoon We both plowed the rest of the orchard & then went down & plowed the rest of the day in the lower fallow and it is a very warm day Hot as mid summer and it is dry & hard plowing”

            Wed. Apr. 28: “Pleasant   In the forenoon we finished plowing down in the lower fallow & then Roscoe went down to Argyle & got his wagon & I went up on top of the hill in the meadow & finished spreading the manure and Marion did’nt go to school she took an awful chill Mother sent for the Doctor & she was so bad we had the Doctor come up before night again she can’t keep any thing on her stomach & in the afternoon we took both teams & went over to the other place & began plowing sod in the old orchard & before night a shower drove us to the house”

            Thur. Apr. 29: “cloudy   Marion is no better we was up with her all night she was offle sick the Doctor came up in the morning & I called Dr. Madison in the afternoon & Stillman was up too they think she has the ’Grip’ in a bad form she has a high fever & can’t keep any thing on her stomach she is a very sick girl.  at night we got track of a Nurse she is coming out in the morning to take care of Marion. Roscoe plowed nearly all day over on the other place in the old orchard & in the forenoon I went over & plowed a small land in the old orchard & came over & started to plow up on top of the hill in the meadow. In the afternoon I did’nt do much.”

            Fri. Apr. 30: “cloudy   Marion is about the same & in the morning I went down to Thomas Cuthberts & got the Nurse. she was brought out that far in a Motor Car. & Roscoe plowed awhile over in the old orchard & it came on rain & he quit and in the afternoon I plowed up on top of the hill in the meadow & Roscoe plowed over in the old orchard on the other place and we quit early and at night Roscoe & Ruby went down to the Exhibition & then to the dance and I sold a load of potatoes to the Red Line & Marion is getting pretty well with the Nurse. the Doctor was up & Dr. Will was along & stopped.”

            Sat. May 1: “rain & cloudy   Marion is getting along nicely she has some fever yet and in the forenoon Roscoe took a grist down to West Hebron & got it back & I plowed up on top of the hill in the meadow and in the afternoon it rained awhile & I sorted some potatoes & about 4 o’clock it quit raining and I went up on the hill & plowed and Roscoe went over on the other place & finished plowing in the old orchard & it is a cloudy day & cooler The Doctor came up to see Marion.”

            Sun. May 2: “cloudy & rain   James was sick all night he had a high fever all night and in the morning when I got up I telephoned for the Doctor & he came right up but he got some better before night & Marion is getting along nicely now she has a little fever yet the Nurse says.  We did’nt go to church any of us so all stayed at home & kept house. and it is a nice day only cloudy & cooler it rained a little.”

            Mon. May 3: “Cloudy   James & Marion are no better the Doctor was up & Roscoe took a load of potatoes out to Glens Falls Red Line Fruit Co. 55 bu @ 40¢ and in the forenoon I plowed up in the meadow on top of the hill & in the afternoon I dragged the lower fallow over with the smoothing harrow and Roscoe got home early & I dragged over the orchard and it is a nice day some cloudy.”
            Tues. May 4: “Pleasant   In the forenoon Roscoe dragged the field over on the other place cross the creek with the spring tooth Harrow and I marked out the lower fallow both ways for corn and in the afternoon We both planted corn down in the lower fallow and got most done and Marion & James are about the same not much better the Doctor was up to-day and it is a nice day.”

            Wed. May 5: “Pleasant   In the morning we loaded up a load of potatoes & Roscoe took the load out to Glens Falls to Eddy 57 bu @ 40¢ per bu and in the forenoon I dragged over the corn down in the lower fallow & finished planting the corn & then came up & marked out the orchard one way and in the afternoon I marked the orchard the other way & then planted corn till night or about    a shower came about 5 o’clock & I had to quit and it is a cloudy day some wind. Marion & James are about the same the Doctor was up.”

            Thur. May 6: “Cloudy   Roscoe plowed all day up on top of the hill in the meadow and in the forenoon I plowed up there and in the afternoon I finished planting the corn in the orchard and then I dragged over it with the smoothing Harrow and it is a nice day Marion is sitting up & James is better the Doctor was up to day again The man was to be out with the machine to day but he did’nt come as the roads were muddy.”

            Fri. May 7: “Cloudy & rain   In the forenoon I went over to the other place and dragged the orchard above the road & the field down a cross the creek with the smoothing Harrow & then I marked out the orchard both ways for corn and Roscoe took a grist down to West Hebron to get ground & got the team shawd and in the afternoon the man brought out our Automobile to teach Roscoe to run it & they went down to Salem & around brought home Ruby, Florence & Lydia and it rained most of the time a little & the Nurse went home    Marion & James are about well & I sorted potatoes & chored around.”

            Sat. May 8: “Rain & fair weather   In the morning & last night we had a nice rain but it cleared off & Roscoe took a load of his potatoes out to Glens Falls at 40¢ to Geo. Eddy and in the forenoon I plowed awhile up on top of the hill & then came down & went down to Argyle on business and then I went up & finished plowing in the meadow & then came down & went up on top of the hill in the upper fallow & began plowing there Roscoe did’nt get home till late he stopped awhile at Hudson Falls & drove the car awhile.”

            Sun. May 9: “cloudy & cooler   We did’nt go to church so all stayed at home and kept house the man brought our Machine out to take us to church but is was to late so he went back to Hudson Falls with it and it is a nice day only cloudy & cool at night Roscoe went down to West Hebron & Ruby went for a ride and Marion went down & got Winnie.”

            Mon. May 10: “Pleasant but cool   In the forenoon I went over on the other place & marked out the field cross the creek one way for corn & potatoes & then planted corn in the orchard above the road till noon & Roscoe dragged the old orchard with the spring tooth harrow once & part of it 2 times & in the afternoon I marked out the corn ground the other way cross the creed and then marked out the orchard for potatoes & Roscoe dragged it over with the smoothing harrow & finished planting the corn in the orchard above the road & went dragged it over & Mr. Sabarine delivered our Automobile & part of us took a ride down to West Hebron & it is a nice day cool & windy.”

            Tues. May 11: “Pleasant Roscoes cows time up   In the morning Roscoe took the girls down to school in the Automobile and when he came back he helped me to plant the corn over on the other place cross the creek & we put up the twine and in the afternoon we plowed with both teams up on top of the hill in the first fallow & after we done the chores Roscoe took his mother & the children in the Car & went down after Ruby & Marion & they took a ride up to Johnnies & back home I stayed at home & got some seed potatoes picked over and it is a nice pleasant day.”

            Wed. May 12: “Pleasant & warmer   In the morning Roscoe took the girls down to school in the car & I sorted over some seed potatoes & when he came back we both plowed up on top of the hill in  the fallow & in the afternoon we both plowed up there and when we quit Roscoe went down after the girls and Lydia & Florence came up too and at night Roscoe & Florence went down to West Hebron and it is a nice day some cloudy & looks like a storm.”

            Thur. May 13: “rain   In the morning we loaded up a load of potatoes and then it came on rain and in the forenoon I sorted potatoes and chored around and in the afternoon I finished plowing up in the fallow & then dragged it over with a smoothing Harrow & Roscoe dragged with the Spring tooth in the meadow up on top of the hill . It did’nt rain much & cleared off cooler and at night Roscoe went down to West Hebron.”

            Fri. May 14: “cooler & Windy   In the morning Roscoe took a load of potatoes out to Fort Edward to Kinne 58 ½ bu at 45¢ and in the forenoon I marked out the potato ground the other way over on the other place cross the creek & then I marked out for corn up in the fallow on top of the hill and in the afternoon I finished marking out the other way for corn & then Roscoe got back & we both planted corn till night and after we done the chores we all took a ride in the car down to West Hebron part of us went to a show and it is a cool & windy day cleared off colder.”

            Sat. May 15: “Cold & Windy White Frost   In the forenoon Roscoe & I planted corn up on top of the hill in the fallow & we got done all done planting corn and in the afternoon Roscoe & Ruby went out to Hudson Falls with the Car & got some permits on it and I dragged over the corn up on top of the hill in the fallow and then I sorted over some seed potatoes and it is a nice day only windy & cool at night Roscoe went down to West Hebron We had a heavy White frost apple trees are in full blow now & a lot of them too.”

            Sun. May 16: “Pleasant Frost   We all went to church in our new Automobile and we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron and we stayed for Sunday school and after dinner we all took a ride in the Car down to Greenwich by the way of Cossayuna and back by East Greenwich & Salem & it is a nice day some cloudy and looked like rain at night we started about 3 & got back 5-20 and had a fine ride & at night Ruby had company & Roscoe went down to West Hebron.”

            Mon. May 17: “rain & cloudy   It rained a little or drizzled part of the day but did’nt rain much only to keep one in   I sorted potatoes & cut seed & Roscoe helped some and it is a cold rain & nasty day at night Roscoe went down to West Hebron.”

            Tues. May 18: “Pleasant   In the forenoon we took the seed potatoes to plant the piece over on the other place cross the creek & then we drawed over a load of hay & I went up back & fixed fence around the cow pasture and Roscoe took 3 horses & went up & dragged on top of the hill in the meadow & in the afternoon Cliften Day came down to help up & he & I planted potatoes over on the other place and Roscoe dragged with 3 horses up in the meadow on top of the hill with the Spring tooth Harrow and it is some cloudy but cleared off cooler.”

            Wed. May 19: “Pleasant but cool   In the morning Roscoe took the girls down to school in the Auto and Cliften & I planted over on the other place & when Roscoe came back he planted potatoes & I marked out the orchard below the road on the other place and in the afternoon Cliften & I planted over there in the orchard and Roscoe dragged the meadow on top of the hill with the smoothing Harrow & then cut potatoes & then Roscoe & Cliften went down after the girls in the car and it is a nice day warm some cloudy.”

            Thur. May 20: “ Pleasant   In the morning Roscoe & Cliften took seed potatoes over to plant on the other place and then Roscoe took the girls down to school in the Car and then helped Cliften to plant & I marked out the meadow on top of the hill for potatoes one way & part to it the other and in the afternoon Roscoe sorted seed potatoes & then went down after the girls in the Car & Beth came up & Clifton & I finished planting the orchard & then sorted seed potatoes till night & at night part of us took a ride in the Auto out to Fort Edward and it is a cloudy & cool & windy & raw day.”

            Fri. May 21: “cloudy & rain   We all planted potatoes up on top of the hill in the meadow & I marked out some & it rained some & we cut seed & sorted over seed and at night Roscoe & Cliften went down to West Hebron to a Social and it is a cloudy day it rained a little but not much.”

            Sat. May 22: “cloudy & cool   We all planted potatoes up on top of the hill in the meadow and I marked out the rest of it the other way and we got done planting up there and at night we all went for a ride in the Car and we went down to Salem & on North aways and it is a cloudy day but cleared off & is cool it rained some in the night but not much.”

            Sun. May 23: “cloudy & cool   We all went to church and we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron and his text was Job the 22 chapter and the 21 verse and we stayed for Sunday school and we went in the Auto and it is a pretty cloudy day & cool too for the time of year. after dinner we all went for a ride in the car we went up to Jonnies & then down to West Hebron and back home and then Roscoe went down to West Hebron.”

            Mon. May 24: “Pleasant    Roscoe drawed manure all day up on top on the big side hill & I loaded it and it is a nice pleasant day some cloudy the girls drove Mollie to school”

            Tues. May 25: “Pleasant & warmer   Roscoe drawed manure in the forenoon the big side hill & I loaded it and it is a nice day some cloudy and looks some like rain and in the afternoon Roscoe took a grist down to West Hebron for the horses & got it home and I spread manure up on the big side hill and at night we all took a ride in the Auto out to Hudson Falls and stopped at Jen’s awhile pretty cool & dusty”

            Wed. May 26: “rain & cool   In the forenoon Roscoe drawed manure till it came on rain up on the big side hill & I loaded it & it stopped us about 10 o’clock and I sorted over seed potatoes the rest of the day and we had a nice little rain at night Roscoe went down to West Hebron.”

            Thur. May 27: “Pleasant but cool    In the forenoon we drawed manure up on the big side hill I loaded it & Roscoe drawed it and in the afternoon we began plowing up on the big side hill with both teams & finished the manure and it is hard plowing cooler.”

            Fri. May 28: “Cool & windy   Roscoe plowed nearly all day up on the big side hill and it is rather hard plowing we spread some manure & at night Roscoe drove out to Hudson Falls to get a new Key for the Car he lost his bunch of keys in the field and it is a cold cloudy & windy raw day good time to plow for the horses.”

            Sat. May 29: “Cool & windy   In the forenoon we both plowed up on the big side hill and we spread some manure and in the afternoon We all went down to Argyle in the Car and spent Decoration & seen a ball game afterwards and when we got home we drawed over a load of hay to the Horse barn and at night Roscoe took the Car & took the Car & gave some of his friends to ride. and it is a cold & windy day.”

            Sun. May 30: “Pleasant   Frost   Roscoe, Ruby, Marion, Hazel, Harold, James, Marjory & I went to church and we went in the Car & stayed for Sunday school & heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron and Georgia stayed with the youngsters & after dinner Roscoe took Georgia, Mary E. & I down to Pearly McDougalls little child’s funeral and we done the chores early and then Roscoe took Harry Smith, Ruby, Marion, Hazel, James, John C. & I down to church at West Hebron and Roscoe went up after Florence & she came home with us and it is a nice pleasant day some warmer & very dry.”

            Mon. May 31: “Pleasant & warmer   In the forenoon Roscoe & I plowed with both teams up in the big side hill & spread some manure and in the afternoon Roscoe, Ruby, Florence, Hazel, Marion, Marjory, James, John C. & I went up to Hartford to Decorations in the Car and we seen a ball game & got home chore time and Georgia stayed at home & kept the youngsters and it is a nice pleasant day some warmer and at night Roscoe took Florence home.”

            Tues. Jun. 1: “Pleasant & Hot   Marions calf 150 Rubys calf 180  In the morning we got the wagon rack ready & loaded the calves & Roscoe took them 6 out to Fort Edward to Ingalsbee @ 8½¢ & I plowed all day about up on the big side hill & cut some seed potatoes at noon and when Roscoe got home he cut seed potatoes for awhile & then went up & dragged with the Spring tooth Harrow on the big side hill & it is a nice day & warm”

            Wed. Jun. 2: “Hot & dry   In the forenoon I finished plowing up on the big side hill and then I dragged up there till noon with the Smoothing Harrow and Roscoe dragged with the Spring tooth Harrow & in the afternoon he finished dragging  with a smoothing Harrow & I began marking out up & down the hill and it is another hot & Dry day. at night Roscoe took some of his company in the Car from West Hebron to Hudson Falls and had a good time.”

            Thur. Jun. 3: “Hot & dry   In the forenoon I marked out up on the big side hill up & down the hill & cross also and Roscoe cut some seed potatoes and in the afternoon Clifton Day came down and we all began planting potatoes up on the big side hill and we got quite a lot of them poked in and it is a nice day clear warm & dry also. it is terrible dusty.”

            Fri. Jun. 4: “Hot & dry   Roscoe, Clifton & I planted potatoes nearly all day up on the big side hill and we got a big start on it and we got some seed ready & in the morning before breakfast I marked out the rest of the field and at night Roscoe & some of the rest took Mrs. Bussing down home & when they came back Clifton & part of the folks went  up to his house in the Car & got his good clothes and it is a nice pleasant day Hot dry & dusty.”

            Sat. Jun. 5: “Hot & dry 88º   In the forenoon we all planted potatoes up on the big side hill & we got done so in the afternoon we all & Clifton went down to Greenwich to the Track Meet & had a good ride & a good time & we got home chore time and at night Clifton went home and Roscoe went down to W. H. or some place and we finished planting potatoes and it is a dry & hot & dusty day.”

            Sun. Jun. 6: “Pleasant & Hot 90º   We all went to church and we heard a Sermon by Mr. McEachron and his text was Mark the 10 chapter and the 52 verse and we went in the Car and we stayed for Sunday school and after we had dinner we went up to Johnnies & seen them they are not very well & then we went from there out to Fort Edward & got the childrens shoes & then went up to Hudson Falls and back home and at night Roscoe took the Car & went to see his friend and it is a nice pleasant day warm & Hot & dry & dusty.”

            Mon. Jun. 7: “Hot & dry 90º   In the forenoon Roscoe took the girls down to school at W. H. & got the team shawd and I helped Mother to Wash and in the afternoon I fixed fence down along the fallow & old cow pasture & Roscoe went over to the other place & plowed the garden and then he took the children in the car and went down to W. H . after the girls and when he came back we took the cutters & old wagon over to the to her place & put them in the Hog house and it is a very hot & dry day some cloudy.”

            Tues. Jun. 8: “cloudy   In the forenoon Roscoe took the girls down to West Hebron to school & got his Horse shawd and I began cultivating corn in the orchard and in the afternoon Roscoe took his Granfather & GranMother & Oscar & Sarah & Lydia for an Auto ride down to Salem & on down to Cambridge & back home & brought the girls home and I fixed the rest of the fence around the cow pasture and it is a nice day dry rained a little in the morning I wound the twine of the corn & at night we all took a short ride in the car down & got Mrs. Bussing.”       

            Wed. Jun. 9: “Pleasant & dry   In the forenoon I began cultivating corn over on the other place down across the creek and Roscoe took the or Ruby down to school and when he got back he came down & helped me to cultivate corn and in the afternoon I cultivated the corn over on the other place up in the orchard above the road and Roscoe dragged the piece of potatoes across the creek & his in the orchard below the road with the smoothing Harrow & then went down & got Ruby in the Car and it is a nice day.”

            Thur. Jun. 10: “cloudy   In the morning Roscoe took Ruby down to school in the Auto & the children went for a ride and when they came back Roscoe, Mother & I went down to Shushan in the Car & took James & Mary & Louise Mahaffy & Sister Erma (and we went down to Cambridge & had a long ride) to the Womens Missionary Society and got home chore time Ruby rode home with us & Marion & Mrs. Bussing kept the youngsters and it is a cloudy & cool day very dusty & dry.”

            Fri. Jun. 11: “warm & cloudy   In the morning Roscoe took the girls down to school in the Car and the Lant girls & I began cultivating corn down in the lower fallow and when Roscoe got back he helped to cultivate corn and in the afternoon Roscoe dragged the potatoes up on top of the hill in the meadow with the smoothing Harrow and I cultivated corn and Roscoe went down after the school children & Lydia came up and it rained some but a nice day.”

            Sat. Jun. 12: “Pleasant & cooler   We had some nice showers last night In the forenoon we all went out to Fort Edward in the Car & Lydia went too and Roscoe went up to Hudson Falls on business. and we got home about noon & then Roscoe, Rob Sloan & I went in the car down to West Hebron & got Prof. Baldwin, Everett W. & Westley & Gant Beattie & we all went up to Comstalks to the great Prison to a ball game an got home about chore time & at night we went down to West Hebron & back home we rode over 100 miles to day in the Car and it is a nice day after the rain windy & some cooler. The baby is about sick.”

            Sun. Jun. 13: “ Pleasant but windy   We all went to church (and Harry Smith came over & went with us) and we went in the Car and after dinner Clarence & the girls came over & James Moore came down & Roscoe took them & Smith & Ruby for an Auto ride. We had no Sermon to day but childrens day was observed and we got the baby baptized and we stayed for Sabbath school. At night Roscoe & Ruby went down to West Hebron to the M. E. Church it was childrens day at night.”

            Mon. Jun. 14: “Pleasant   In the forenoon I cultivated corn down in the lower fallow & Roscoe took the girls down to West Hebron to school in the Car and then he helped me to cultivate corn down in the lower fallow & we finished it & in the afternoon We cultivated the rest of the corn in the orchard & he went down after Marion & Ruby stayed and it is a nice day warm.”

            Tues. Jun. 15: “Warm & rain   In the  morning Roscoe took the Car out to Hudson Falls (& Georgia, the babe & Mary E. went out to Jens) & took it to the Adirondack Motor Co. Garage & they stayed all day and I stayed around the house & chored around put up some potatoes & piled some wood and it is a warm day but we had a Thunder shower before night a little & we had a nice little rain”

            Wed. Jun. 16: “Hot   In the forenoon Roscoe took the Car out to the Garage at Hudson Falls & brought home Jen & they went down to West Hebron to the Promo Grange & I cultivated corn nearly all day up on top of the hill in the upper fallow and it is a hot day and at night Roscoe & Marion went to a dance at Everetts & Marion stayed down it is a nice pleasant day”

            Thur. Jun. 17: “washed  Rain & warm & showers   It was raining in the morning & we had a nice rain & in the afternoon we had a heavy shower it washed some of our corn fields and Roscoe went down in the car after Marion at Everetts and we washed up the car & piled some wood in the wood shed and put up the rest of the potatoes in bags and it is a nice growing time we had a fine rain only it came to fast.”

            Fri. Jun 18: “Hot 92º   In the morning Roscoe took a load of potatoes out to South Glens Falls 55 bu @ 35¢ for the children & I cultivated corn all day up on top of the hill in the fallow & I finished it and it is a very hot day pleasant & clear & sultry. Marion & Harold went down to W. H. & got Ruby  She finished her Examinations & passed in all she has 77 points 5 more than is required.”      

            Sat. Jun. 19: “Hot & shower   In the morning we all went in the car down to West Hebron & left the babe , Mary E. & John C. at Everetts & took Lydia & we went to Troy & Ruby got her Graduation Dress at Frears & another and done some trading and got back home about chore time & we had a long trip about 111 miles we had a shower in Troy & it rained up here.”

            Sun. Jun. 20: “Pleasant   We all went to church in the car and it was Sacrament Sabbath and we heard a sermon by Mr. Anderson of New York and we took Ruby from church down to Everetts at West Hebron and after dinner Roscoe, Marion, Hazel, Harold & I went out to Hudson Falls in the car & got Jen & Merritt and after we done the chores we all went down to West Hebron & heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron given to the Graduation Class of 1915. and it is a nice pleasant day some cool.”   

            Mon. Jun. 21: “Pleasant   In the morning Roscoe & I loaded up the last load of potatoes 48 bu @ 35¢ taken out to Glens Falls by Roscoe & he got home early & in the morning Marion took Jen & Merritt up to Johnnies & I cultivated potatoes down across the bridge on the other place and Roscoe got home early & he washed off the Car  I washed part of it in the morning & at night Roscoe took us down to West Hebron in the car to the Class meeting at the M. E. church given by the graduation class & then went up & got Johnnie & Mary. & Jen & Merritt & Oscar & Sarah and took them home & then came back after us and it is a nice pleasant day some cool.”

            Tues. Jun. 22: “Pleasant   In the forenoon I cultivated corn & potatoes on the other place across the bridge & finished it & then I cultivated corn in the orchard above the road and Roscoe cultivated his potatoes in the orchard below the road and in the afternoon he cultivated the rest of his potatoes one way and mowed the clover down at the lower House & I finished the corn in the orchard. & sowed the grass seed and then I came over & cultivated corn in the orchard and at night we all went down to West Hebron to the commencement & their was a large turn out we did’nt get home very early.”

            Wed. Jun. 23: “Pleasant   Roscoe Cultivated his potatoes over in the old orchard below the road the other way & I cultivated potatoes all day up on top of the hill in the meadow and at night Roscoe went down to W. H. after Ruby & then he took Jen & Merritt out home to Hudson Falls & took Ruby & went up & got Edd Pollock & John McKernons folks for a ride and we had rain at night enough to Wet hay”

            Thur. Jun. 24: “Pleasant   I cultivated potatoes all day up on top of the hill in the meadow and Roscoe mowed the field cross from the barn & began mowing in the orchard back of the barn and it is a nice day only windy & cool”

            Fri. Jun. 25: “Warm & showers   In the forenoon Roscoe finished mowing back of the barn in the orchard and began mowing up on top of the hill back of the barn & I cultivated potatoes up on top of the meadow & in the afternoon Roscoe finished mowing up on top of the hill back of the barn & then he raked the hay down to the other house. & then we had a light shower to wet hay & then Roscoe dragged at the potatoes up on the big side hill & I cultivated potatoes up on top of the hill in the meadow and it is a nice day only for hay to Wet.”

            Sat. Jun. 26: “Warm & showers   In the forenoon I finished cultivating the potatoes up on top of the hill in the meadow & sowed the grass seed in the orchard & Roscoe finished dragging the potatoes up on the big side hill with the smoothing Harrow and then raked the hay in the barn cross from the barn & Harold & I bunched up the hay and a Thunder shower went north & one South it rained just enough to Wet the hay & in the afternoon We cleaned out the Cistern & Roscoe raked the hay back of the barn in the orchard & up on top of the hill back of the barn & Harold & I bunched up the hay very light & it is a nice day only for the rain at night Roscoe went away to Salem I guess”

            Sun. Jun. 27: “Pleasant but a shower   We all went to church in the car and we heard a sermon by a man from Cambridge and when we got home we had a nice little shower and after we done the chores we took a ride up to Johnnies in the car they are about the same and it is a nice day cool at night a heavy shower went South.”

            Mon. Jun. 28: “Hot & good hay day   In the forenoon Roscoe mowed the meadow orchard below the road and I mowed around the trees & fence and in the afternoon we drawed in the hay from up on top of the hill 3 loads and what was down at the other house 2 load & 1 load form the field cross from the barn and Marion helped to draw in 2 loads and Roscoe raked part of what he mowed in the forenoon below the road & it is a nice Hay day & Hot too. at night Roscoe & Ruby went in the car down to West Hebron & brought home Lydia & the 2 McMillen girls.”

            Tues. Jun. 29: “Hot & pleasant   In the forenoon I cultivated corn down in the lower fallow and Roscoe mowed over in the back meadow & in the afternoon he raked the rest of the hay down in the meadow orchard below the road & then mowed the rest over in the back meadow & Ruby, Marion & Harold helped us to draw in the rest of the hay in the field cross from the barn 2 Loads & what was in the little orchard by the barn 2 loads & then I bunched up the hay in the meadow below the road and at night Roscoe & the girls went down to West Hebron to a show and it is a nice day good hay day.”

            We. Jun. 30: “Rainy day   In the forenoon I went down & finished cultivating the corn down in the lower fallow & it rained most of the time so I came back to the house & we piled wood in the wood shed & Roscoe chored around and in the afternoon I slep part of the time & did’nt do much. Tommy Stewart & his Sister came down & stayed till in the Evening & at night Roscoe went down to West Hebron and it is a rainy day we had a fine rain & is still raining at night.”

            Thur. Jul. 1: “cloudy & big rain   It rained all night last night I guess & hard too and it rained all forenoon we have had a big rain it quit about noon and in the afternoon Ruby and the girls went away for a ride & we chored around and we chored around and at night Roscoe took the girls Ruby, Marion, & Hazel out to Hudson Falls to a band concert in the Car and it is a cloudy day & wet time and it cleared off partly in the afternoon.”

            Fri. Jul. 2: “Pleasant   I cultivated corn & potatoes nearly all day over on the other place across the creek and Roscoe cultivated his potatoes again over on the other place in the old orchard below the road and the girls & Ruby washed the car & after dinner Roscoe took the girls down home a West Hebron & got some thing he took the car and at night we all went to a social or speaker at our church we went in the car & it rained & was nasty when we came home. Ruby went home with Elsie Stewart and it is a wet time but a pleasant day.”

            Sat. Jul. 3: “cloudy but cleared off Thunder shower at night   In the forenoon Roscoe went to take the inner tube out of the Rubber tire & it blowed up & threw one of the iron rims & struck him in the nose & cut it quite badly but we all went up to a Town church picnic at the Baptist church at North Hebron and had a good time & it was fearful Muddy and we got home early  at night Roscoe & Ruby & Marion went down to West Hebron to a show & Ruby & Marion stayed down to Everetts all night.”

            Sun. Jul. 4: “Pleasant & Hot   In the morning after we got ready for church we went down to West Hebron & got Ruby & Marion & we all went to church we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron and we stayed for Sunday school and after dinner we went up to Johnnie’s & Georgia & Marion & part of the children stayed up to Oscars & Johnnie & Mary. Roscoe, Ruby, Mary E. James, Harold & I took an Auto ride & we got Edith B. & went down to Cossayuna and East Greenwich to Salem & back to Belcher by the way of West Hebron & got Lydia & back home & at night Roscoe took Lydia home at West Hebron & it is a nice day & hot too.”

            Mon. Jul. 5: “Rain & warm   In the morning it rained quite a lot and about noon we got ready & started for Hartford in the car and went up by Belcher & took Johnnie & Mary & we had a good time & it cleared off in the afternoon Ruby went with Smith & their was a crowd up there & we got home early & at night Roscoe went away to Salem I guess & it is cooler at night the roads were muddy. after supper I turned over the bunches of hay down in the meadow in the orchard.”

                Tues. Jul. 6: “Pleasant & cooler   In the forenoon Roscoe took the Car & went out to the Fort & got 10 bu of Oats ground for the horses and I cultivated corn & potatoes over on the other place across the creek & in the afternoon Roscoe raked the hay in the back meadow and the boys & I drawed it over only 2 loads and we turned or  shook out the bunches of hay down in the meadow below the house. and it is a drying day windy but cool. Roscoe & Ruby took some cherries down to West Hebron & brought home Lydia & 2 Gillis girls & at night Smith came over & they all went down to Argyle in the Car  It dried off fast to-day.”

            Wed. Jul. 7: “Pleasant   In the forenoon Rroscoe & I both cultivated potatoes up on the big side hill and in the afternoon we drawed in the hay down in the meadow below the road we got it in 3 loads & Harold turned over the hay & helped to bunch it up & it was black & poor stuff & then I went up & cultivated on the big side hill till night and at night Roscoe & one of the girls went down to Argyle & got shoes for the mowing machine & it looked like rain.”

            Thur. Jul. 8: “big rain   It rained nearly all night I guess and all day about it came right along too and we chored around and did’nt do much it must of rained nearly 3 inches of water and the wind blew from the north & was a cold rain for the time of year.”

            Fri. Jul. 9: “Pleasant   In the forenoon Roscoe went down to West Hebron to get some repairing down & took one of the girls along and I went over on the other place & put on some paris Green on the childrens potatoes & Roscoes too. and in the afternoon Roscoe & I both cultivated Corn up on top of the hill in the upper fallow and water was running down over it   pretty wet  It is a drying day the wind blew fierce.”

Jul. 10: “Pleasant & Hot   In the forenoon I cultivated potatoes up on the big side hill wet too & Roscoe chored around he is about sick with sore throat or something like mumps & the girls washed the car and in the afternoon we all took a ride in the car up to Lake George & stopped awhile at Hudson Falls to Jen’s and we had a fine ride & at night Roscoe & Ruby & the girls went down to Salem in the car and it is a warm day & drying up some.”

            Sun. Jul. 11: “Pleasant & Hot  92º   We all went to church and we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron and we stayed for sunday school and after dinner Roscoe took the girls home and the rest of us rode down to West Hebron and Roscoe brought Florence home & Ruby stayed down to West Hebron & at night Roscoe took Florence over home and intends to bring Ruby home with him I guess. and it is a nice pleasant day Hot & is drying up fast, water is laying on our potatoes in places.”

            Mon. Jul 12: “rain last night Hot & pleasant   In the forenoon Roscoe & the rest picked cherries & Roscoe delivered them at West Hebron and I cultivated potatoes nearly all day up on the big side hill and in the afternoon Roscoe began mowing over on the other place South of the woods on the side hill. It is a nice pleasant day Hot and it rained again last night but cleared off in the morning.”

            Tues. Jul 13: “Hot & Showery   In the forenoon Roscoe mowed over on the other place south of the woods and he got done there & I cultivated potatoes up on the big side hill and in the afternoon I put on paris Green on the potatoes in the orchard on the other place awhile & Ruby took old Grey down to West Hebron & got her shawd & when she got back we drawed in a load of hay from over back of the woods & a shower came up but we got to the house. Roscoe got the hay nearly all raked before the rain It did’nt rain much only to spoil haying. Showers went both North & South it is a hot day we broke the rope drawing up in the barn”

            Wed. Jul 14: Hot & showers   “In the forenoon took the car & went down to West Hebron to get the rope spliced & then mowed the hay on the side hill back of the barn and I cultivated potatoes up on the big side hill and Rob Hughey came along & I hired him to help us a few days and in the afternoon Harold & I went over back of the woods on the other place & got a load of Hay & Roscoe raked the rest of the hay & it came on rain to spoil the hay business at night Roscoe went down to West Hebron”

            Thur. Jul. 15: “Hot & dry   In the forenoon Rob & I shoveled out potatoes for the first over on the other place across the creek and Earl Tompson came up & cut a hole in the end of the horse barn up to the peak for the Horse fork to run on the track out doors & Roscoe helped him all day and he is about sick with sore throat He went down to West Hebron & got some irons for the track & afterward took Earl home and at night Roscoe & Ruby took 5 boxes of cheese out to Fort Edward and brought back Jen with them and it is a hot day in the afternoon Rob & I drew the hay from over back of the woods 2 L Roscoe raked the hay on the side hill back of barn & Rob & I drawed it in 2 Loads it is a good hay day showers went around us.”

            Fri. Jul. 16: “Hot & dry   In the forenoon Rob shoveled out the rest of the potatoes on the other place across the creek & began in the old orchard and I put on Paris Green over there and in the afternoon I put on the rest of the Green & then shoveled out potatoes over there & Rob did too. Roscoe has a very bad throat Mother telephoned for the Doctor & he came up & said Roscoe has the quinsy he was sick & in bed most of the day and the children took Jen up to Johnnies and it is a very hot day but looks some like rain.”

            Sat. Jul. 17: Hot & Sultry   “Roscoe’s throat is not much better till about night it was some better In the forenoon Rob shoveled out potatoes over on the other place Roscoes and I took 2 calves up to Belcher at 9½¢ per # and when I came back I went up on the big side hill & finished cultivating the potatoes and in the afternoon Rob & I finished shoveling Roscoes potatoes & then went up on top of the hill in the meadow & shoveled out potatoes and it is a nice day Hot but was cooler at night wind was in the West and it rained some last night & this morning. The doctor was up to see Roscoe. he was some better at night.”

            Sun. Jul. 18: “Pleasant & cooler   Roscoes throat is some better We did’nt go to church so stayed at home Ruby went away with Smith in an Auto and did’nt get back till after night and in the afternoon Johnnie & Mary came down to see Roscoe and Johnnie don’t seem to get along very well & it is a nice pleasant day cool in the morning but was hot before night.”

            Mon. Jul. 19: “Pleasant   In the forenoon Roscoe took the team down to West Hebron & got them shawd and in the afternoon he & his Mother went in the Car out to Fort Edward & Hudson Falls & got 10 bu of Oats ground for the horses and Rob & I shoveled out potatoes up in the meadow on top of the hill and we got through them both ways & then went up back & cut & bound a swath around part of the rye and it is a nice day some cloudy & warm but cool air at night. Mother’s hired girl began work to day $3 per week.”

            Tues. Jul. 20: “Cloudy & cooler   In the morning we got out the reaper & Roscoe reaped the rye up in the rear end of the big side hill and Rob & I bound rye. & Roscoes throat was sore. & he was tired out or about sick & did’nt reap or do any thing & Rob & I bound what was Reapt & sat it up over half of it & it is good rye too. and then we shoveled out potatoes up & down the big side hill till night and it is a pretty cloudy day but a cool wind.”

            Wed. Jul. 21: “Pleasant   In the forenoon I Reaped the rest of the rye up up in the rear end of the big side hill Rob bound & I helped him & we finished it and in the afternoon We sat the rye up & then we shoveled out potatoes up & down the big side hill and Roscoe did’nt do much to-day and it is a  nice day some cloudy and”   (nothing else written)

            Thur. Jul. 22: “Pleasant & Hot   In the forenoon I mowed with machine down back in the Hay barn field and Rob shoveled out potatoes up & down the big side hill and Roscoe chored around and in the afternoon Roscoe Reaped the rye on the other place below the house & Rob & I bound it & Ruby raked the hay I mowed & Marion & Harold bunched it up and it is a good hay day &  Hot too. it rained quite a shower last night but was all cleared off in the morning.”

            Fri. Jul. 23: “Hot & dry   In the forenoon I put on some pairs Green on Roscoes potatoes on the other place and sat up the rye over there & Rob shoveled out potatoes up on the big side hill and Roscoe mowed with the machine all day over in the Hay barn field & in the afternoon Rob & I drawed in 2 loads of hay from over back & then Rob mowed some by hand down to the other House and Ruby raked hay over back & Harold & I bunched it up & we brought over a load at night pretty good hay over there.”    

            Sat. Jul 24: “Hot & Pleasant   In the forenoon I put on paris Green awhile on the potatoes & Rob mowed by hand awhile back of the lower house & then we drawed in 2 loads of rye from up back & Roscoe finished mowing over in the Hay barn field & raked up the rest of the hay and in the afternoon Roscoe took the car & went out to Hudson Falls and Rob & I drawed 5 big loads of hay from the Hay barn field & the children helped us and Mother went up home awhile & it is a nice pleasant & Hay day At night Roscoe & Ruby went away some place in the car to Salem I guess.”

            Sun. Jul. 25: “Hot & showery   We all (but Rob) went to church and we heard a sermon by Mr. Anderson we stayed for Sunday school and we went in the car and after dinner we went up to Johnnie’s in the car & took Johnnie & Mary part of us & went down & got D. H. Hurd & took a ride around the lake and had a good ride & Mother & Ruby & some of the little ones stayed up to Johnnies till we came back & it rained some before night 2 showers at night Roscoe went down to West Hebron”

            Mon. Jul. 26: “big rain   In the morning Rob went away some place West Hebron I guess and Roscoe began mowing over in the meadow below the road on the other place and I put on paris Green on the potatoes up on the big side hill till it came on rain about 9 o’clock & it rained right down till noon and in the afternoon it was Lowery the children & I put the rest of the wood in the wood shed and Rob came back before supper time and it is a cloudy day & rained a lot too.”

            Tues. Jul. 27: “Pleasant   In the morning I paid off Rob & let him go and in the forenoon Roscoe mowed the rest of the field over below the road on the other place & the Island & under the woods also and I mowed some by hand down to the other house and sat up what rye was Down down and shook out the hay over in the Hay barn field & put some rye straw down of the scaffold into the hay barn in the afternoon we got the load of  hay over back & Ruby raked part of the hay over on the other place. Roscoe mowed the side hill in the fallow & I put on paris Green & we went over & got a load of hay & it is a good hay day at night Roscoe went down to West Hebron.”

            Wed. Jul. 28: “cloudy & Hot  rain   In the forenoon Roscoe mowed the piece in the lower fallow & Ruby raked the rest of the hay on the other place Island & under the woods & Roscoe & I drawed 2 loads of rye form the other place and in the afternoon Roscoe raked the hay down in both fallows and Ruby & I got 1 load of hay from the other place and then Roscoe & I drawed the hay from the side hill in the upper fallow 3 jags & got 1 load from the other place the children bunched it up & the girls & Mother helped me to onload the hay & rye as Roscoe can’t go where any dust is and it is a cloudy day not a very good hay day & it began raining before night a Wet time.”

            Thur. Jul. 29: “cloudy & wet   It rained a lot last night and in the morning after we done the chores we all but the girl & babe went down to Salem in the car to field day she took the babe up to her sisters & stayed till we came back we got home chore time & Roscoe went back at night & Ruby stayed over to Gillis’s and it turned out to be a nice day.”

            Fri. Jul. 30: “Pleasant & Hot   In the morning we onloaded a load of hay & loaded up a load of rye Straw and Roscoe took the load down to East Greenwich and I shoveled out potatoes while he was gone up on the big side hill and when he got back we drawed in the hay that was cut down in the swail at the other house & went over on the other place & got the load of rye all of it and it is a very Hot day good hay day”

            Sat. Jul. 31: “Hot 98º   In the morning Roscoe went over to Gillis at Salem & brought home Ruby & We all went at drawing in the rye up back & got it all in & what hay we had down & then we all went out to Hudson Falls & got home & done the chores & then we all went down to Salem & Florence came home with us Ruby did’nt go to Salem & it is a Hot & good hay day.”

            Sun. Aug. 1: “Pleasant & Hot 98º   Roscoe, Ruby, Florence, Marion, Harold, James & I went to church & we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron & Mother stayed at home & kept the rest. Hazel & Marjory was sick but got better. We came home at noon & when we got our dinner we all went out to Glens Falls to Crandell Park & heard a sermon and we got home chore time and at night Roscoe took Florence home & it is a hot day & pleasant too.”

            Mon. Aug. 2: “Hot & cloudy   In the morning I shoveled out potatoes up on the big side hill and Roscoe mowed the field above the lower house and in the afternoon Roscoe went out to Fort Edward and got 5 bu of oats & done some business at the Argyle Bank and I cradled around the oats below the house on the other place & along the foot of the big hill and Marion raked the hay down the road & Harold & Hazel bunched it up and when Roscoe got back he went over & mowed on the hill south of the orchard the other place & we drawed in 1 load of hay & at night we all went over to the church to a free Concert and it is a fair hay day cloudy.”

            Tues. Aug. 3: “Cooler & rain   In the forenoon Roscoe mowed on the hill south of the orchard on the other place and Marion & Harold & I drawed in the rest of the hay down in the field above the other house 3 loads and in the afternoon it rained but not very hard just enough to keep one from work  I cradled out a load on the big hill back of the school house the oats are good too. It is a nice rain but bad for oats that are down. It is a cloudy & cool day.”

            Wed. Aug. 4: “rain   In the forenoon Jim & John Wrye began cradling oats on the upper side of the big hill back of the school house and I shoveled out potatoes up on big side hill & it came on rain about 11 o’clock & I had to quit & Roscoe took Nell down to get shawd and in the afternoon we did’nt do much it rained some most of the time and it is a wet time.”

            Thur. Aug. 5: “Pleasant but cloudy   In the morning we put on part of a load of rye straw & Roscoe took it down to West Hebron to Everett 1300 at $10 per ton and I went up & finished shoveling out potatoes & then I took Mother & the babe up to Johnnies & left her I stayed for dinner and when I came back Roscoe Reapt the oats below the house on the other place & Marion raked the hay on the hill south of the orchard and I mowed some oats at the foot of the big hill & the Wrye boys finished cradling the upper side of the big hill & I bunched up the hay over there & Marion & Harold went up to Johnnies & got Mother & it was cloudy but cleared off partly.”

            Fri. Aug. 6: “cloudy & rain   In the forenoon I raked the rye tailings over on the other place & drawed them over & Roscoe took his horse down to West Hebron & got him shawd and in the afternoon we drawed the hay from the hill over on the other place 3 loads and at night we all went down to West Hebron to a dance at Williamsons Hall and it is a cloudy day & some cool & windy but poor hay weather.”

            Sat. Aug. 7: “Thunder Shower & washed   In the forenoon Roscoe raked the rye tailings up in the rear end of the big side hill & drawed them down and I cut brush around the fences next to the cow pasture and in the afternoon we chored around and about 3 o’clock we went out to Hudson Falls and a fearful shower came up there we was in the Garage and it rained on us most of the way home and lightening struck Will McNeils barn & burned it to the ground and we had a nother shower we are never going to get our oats in I guess at night Roscoe went down to West Hebron”

            Sun. Aug. 8: “Pleasant & warm   We all went to church and we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron and his text was in Hebrews and we stayed for Sunday school and after dinner we all went down to the Oaks and Harold, James & I got out or stayed there & the rest went up & got Johnnie & Mary & Merritt and they came down awhile the band played awhile & then we all came back I got out at the stone house and got the cows & after we done the chores we all & Clarence Lant went down to West Hebron to church and it is a nice pleasant day good hay day to-day.”

            Mon. Aug. 9: “Hot & Thunder showers   In the forenoon Roscoe reapt Oats on the big hill and Marion, Harold & I turned the oats in the field below the house on the other place & washed the car and in the afternoon we went over & got 1 load of oats & a big shower came up & went north but we got enough to spoil drawing oats. We had 2 or 3 showers but the heavy one went north it hailed a lot & done a lot of damage it looked like fair weather at night.”

            Tues. Aug. 10: “cloudy & rain again   In the forenoon Roscoe went over to Henry Adams & borrowed 20 bu of oats and took them down to West Hebron & got 10 bu ground and I chored around washed Roscoes wagon and in the afternoon Roscoe took the car & took Jonnie & Mary up to Granville to see the Doctor and Peter Busseno went with him too and it began raining after dinner again I chored around & cut some weeds along the road & at night we all went out to Fort Edward in the car and it is a pretty cloudy day & rained too.”

            Wed. Aug. 11: “Pleasant & warm   In the forenoon Roscoe finished reaping the oats on the big hill and we washed the car again & Harold & I turned some oats below the house on the other place and in the afternoon we went to Clayton Barkleys wedding at Philip McEachrons we left the youngsters at Everetts and got home about 5 o’clock & then we all went over on the other place & got a load of oats & it is a nice pleasant day & warm too the nicest day we have had in a long time.”

            Thur. Aug. 12: “cloudy & rain   In the forenoon Roscoe went down to Argyle on business & I went over & turned some oats on the hill & then we went at drawing in oats all of us & we drawed in the afternoon till it came on rain about 3 o’clock it did’nt rain much only to stop us we got in 4 load 2 loads from south of the house a few is left down there & we got 2 load of the big hill and it is cloudy the oats just got in good shape to draw & the rain came”

            Fri. Aug. 13: “cloudy   It rained quite a lot last night In the forenoon we chored around I cut a few weeds and in the afternoon Roscoe & Ruby took a ride in the car Ruby took a lesson & run the car and Harold & I went over on the hill & turned some oats they are very wet but drying some Johnnie & Mary came down and Johnnie is no better he is in bad shape and it is a warm day & muggy it partly cleared off. at night Roscoe & Ruby went in the car to a party up in Hebron.”

            Sat. Aug. 14: “Pleasant   We drawed oats from the big hill back of the school house nearly all day they were damp it rained a little and at noon we got 6 good loads we put 2 load in the hay barn and it looks like fair weather now at night Roscoe went down to West Hebron and it is hot & Muggy.”

            Sun. Aug. 15: “Cloudy & showers   There was no service at our church but we went up to Belcher in the car. Roscoe, Ruby , the babe, Mary E. went up to Johnnies & gave them a ride and the rest of us attended service at Belcher M. E. Church and after dinner we had a Thunder shower not a very big one but enough to wet oats in big shape I think I never in all my life time saw such a time to get in oats and such a wet time at night Roscoe went away some place.”

            Mon. Aug. 16: “Thunder shower & Hot   In the forenoon I cradled some oats on the hill back of the house and Roscoe Reapt oats up in the upper part, part of the time & I went over & turned some oats on the hill and after dinner we got ready to get a load & a shower came up & we had a heavy shower & wind & rained a lot soaked the oats again after the shower & I cradled a few oats & Roscoe Reapt all he could and we went over on the hill & turned the rest of the oats that was reapt. They were growing and it is a hot day & it washed some at night Roscoe went down to Bedlam.”

            Tues. Aug. 17: “Rain & colder   In the forenoon I finished cutting oats on the hill back of the house all done and Roscoe chored around we put the reaper away and it rained in the morning quite hard but cleared off about noon and got colder wind was in the north and in the afternoon we all went in the car out to Hudson Falls and when we got back we went at turning oats and at night Roscoe went down to West Hebron to see if he could get some  help. I guess.”

            Wed. Aug. 18: “Pleasant   In the morning Roscoe went over & got Him Lants Hay rack & wagon & Rob Hughey came up & Clifton Day came over & helped us to draw in oats we got them all in Rob Sloan helped us in the afternoon and the children raked them & Ruby & Marion helped us to draw in & we got them all in but the rakings and we had 5 loads on the hill back of the house & on the big hill and it is a nice day.”

            Thur. Aug. 19: “Pleasant   In the morning Roscoe took Jim Lants Wagon & rack home & we all went down to West Hebron to Everetts to the McIntyre picnic and stayed all day I went up to see John Gibson and it is a nice pleasant day and Roscoe took a load of girls up to the Hartford Town Picnic in the afternoon.”

            Fri. Aug. 20: “Pleasant good hay day   In the forenoon Roscoe raked out tailings on the big side hill he did’nt get done and I mowed the swail by hand back of the lower house and some in the swail in the orchard and in the afternoon Roscoe mowed the swails with the machine & the little meadow I mowed some by hand and we got the low places all mowed & at night we all went over to the church to a concert and it is a nice hay day.”

            Sat. Aug. 21: “Cloudy & rain   In the forenoon Roscoe finished raking out tailings on the big hill & raked the tailings back of the house on the hill & Harold & I drawed them in and Ruby & Marion helped to onload 3 jags and Roscoe raked the hay down the road along the swamp & the swail in the orchard. & I bunched up what I mowed back of the lower house and in the afternoon We drawed it in 3 loads & it rained on us some it was a little wet but we put it in Harold & Marion bunched it up and we done the chores early & we all went up to Johnnies & Mother stayed all night Roscoe brought us back home & then he went down to West Hebron.”

            Sun. Aug. 22: “cloudy & rain   It rained a lot last night after we done the chores We all went out to Hudson Falls & got Jen & then came back to Johnnies and left Jen & brought Mother home and it is a cloudy & began raining after we got home awhile. There was no preaching at our church Johnnie is no better.”

            Mon. Aug. 23: “Pleasant   In the morning Roscoe took the Car out to Hudson Falls to get the fender repaired and he did’nt get home till most night and in the forenoon I cut brush down along the road below the barn and in the afternoon I cut some brush along the road and it is a nice warm day some cloudy.”

            Tues. Aug. 24: “Pleasant   In the morning Roscoe took some young people from Argyle up to Lake St. Catherine and back home & took us all down to the Cambridge Fair we got down there about noon and got home about night and it is a nice day some cool I cut brush in the forenoon or burdocks and the roads are some muddy and at night Roscoe went away and we had a Thunder shower it rained a lot. Roscoe had 2 blow outs”

            Wed. Aug. 25: “cooler & cloudy   In the forenoon I cut some burdocks along the fences and Roscoe chored around and in the afternoon Roscoe, Ruby & I went out to Hudson Falls and got 2 new rims and Ruby drove the car out & back I borrowed $100 at the bank for 4 months and it is a windy & cool day Potatoes are dying or turning black blighting or rusting badly in places.”

            Thur. Aug. 26: “Pleasant   In the morning Roscoe & Harold went up & turned up the hay up in the little meadow and I cut some brush and then we all went down to the Cambridge Fair and we got home about night and it is a nice day for the Fair pleasant but cool nights.”

            Fri. Aug. 27: “Pleasant & cooler   In the forenoon I cut brush & weeds along the road on the other place above the school house and Roscoe took the team down to West Hebron & got them shawd and raked up the hay up in the little meadow and in the afternoon we drawed the rest of the hay in all done the first time and then we all went or Roscoe & I went up to Johnnies to see him it is a nice day.”

            Sat. Aug. 28: “Pleasant   In the forenoon Roscoe drawed some old rails to the hog pen and chored around and I cut weeds & brush along the road below the other house and around the house and in the afternoon I chored around and boiled a kettle of feed and Roscoe & Ruby went down to Argyle and after we done the chores we went up to Johnnies & Georgia stayed all night and Roscoe brought us home & then he went away and it is a nice pleasant day good hay weather.”       

            Sun. Aug. 29: “cloudy & cool   We went up to Belcher to Johnnies & left the babe & Mary E. with Mother & the rest of us went to church and we heard a sermon by Mr. Fisher and we stayed for Sunday school & then we went up to Johnnies & got Mother & the rest & came home and Johnnie is not much better he is in bed now and it is a nice day only cloudy and looks like rain & is cool too.”

            Mon. Aug. 30: “cloudy & cool   about 9 o’clock the threshers came here Allen Bros. Rob Hughey came in the morning & Clarence Lant came & Roscoe went up after Arthur McFarland and we got the oats all threshed out of the hay barn 225 bu and at noon Clifton Day came to help us and Roscoe had to go away to take or get a company and we got the oats threshed was in the barn floor 222 bu & got about 20 bu of rye threshed and Roscoe got home about night the girls milked and it is a nice day only cloudy & muddy.”         

            Tues. Aug. 31: “Pleasant   We threshed & got done before night a little and Rob McFarland helped in addition to what help we had yesterday Roscoe did’nt help he took the big team his horse out to the fair & Ruby run the Car (Marion went too) out to the Fair Ground & brought Roscoe home & then he took the car out to the Fair grounds & kept it & I took the engine to the Thresher down to Harvey Randles and we had 825 bu Oats & 117 bu rye and it is a nice day.”      

            Wed. Sept. 1: “Pleasant   In the morning Roscoe came out home with the Car & took us out to the Fair and he brought us home at night & then went down to West Hebron & got the McMillen girls & brought them up here & he went with the car out to Hudson Falls to the Garage and it is a nice pleasant day cool in the morning.”

            Thur. Sept. 2: “Hot & pleasant   In the morning Roscoe sent Frank (a man from Hudson Falls out after us and we all went out to the County Fair and at night Roscoe brought us out home.) & he took the McMillen girls home & went over near Salem & got one of the Gillis girls home and he stayed out here all night & it is a nice warm day Hot good corn corn weather. Potatoes are nearly all dead in places and are rotten some Roscoe got first premium on the team ($15) & the first on his horse ($4)”

            Fri. Sept. 3: “Hot   In the morning we got up early and done the chores and all went out to the Fair Roscoe had to get out early to feed his horses and at night Ruby drove the car home & Roscoe and one of the girls brought home the horses and it is a very hot day & dusty again.”

            Sat. Sept. 4: “Hot   In the forenoon We began plowing on the big hill back of the school house both teams & it was hot too and in the afternoon we cleaned up what oats there was in the barn floor & Roscoe took his Mother up to see her Father he is no better and took the McMillen girl down to West Hebron & done some trading and Harold & James & I went over to the other place & picked some pears, plums & Apples. and it is a hot day at night Roscoe & Elsie G. went out to Hudson Falls to get his things that he left at the Fair.”

            Sun. Sept. 5: “Hot & pleasant   We all went out to Hudson Falls an got a Water Mellon and took it or came back by Johnnies and he is no better and we stayed awhile & then came home and after dinner Roscoe took Elsie Gillis home and he took the team and it is a hot day & pleasant good corn weather.”

            Mon. Sept. 6: “Pleasant   I plowed most of the day down on the big hill back of the school House and Roscoe mowed the clover down to the other house and in the orchard or meadow below the road part of it and part of the field cross from the barn at noon we put on a kettle of feed & burned some burdocks and it is a hot day some cloudy but a good hay day at night we all went up to Johnnies in the car he is about the same.”

            Tues. Sept. 7: “Hot   In the forenoon I plowed on the big hill back of the school house and Roscoe took Marion down to West Hebron to school it began to day so did the Dist school and and in the afternoon Roscoe raked all the clover hay that he mowed yesterday and I cut a little corn in the orchard & bunched up the hay and it is a warm day rather cloudy at night Roscoe drove down to West Hebron.”

            Wed. Sept. 8: “Hot 94º shade   In the morning we loaded up a load of rye Straw and Roscoe took it to East Greenwich 2075 @ $8½ a ton and I plowed on the big Hill back of the school house and at noon I picked up a few apples and when Roscoe got home he went at turning the hay & I helped too. it rained a shower last night and at night we all but Ruby went up to see Johnnie he is some better and we got home just before a big Thunder shower it was the hardest thunder we have had.”

            Thur. Sept. 9: “Hot   In the morning we loaded up a load of rye straw and Roscoe took the load down to Salem 2330# @ 8½ a ton and I opened out the hay down to the other place and then I plowed on the big hill back of the school house an when Roscoe got home we drawed in a load of hay down to the other house & put it in the lower barn and it is a fearful hot day good hay day.”

            Fri. Sept. 10: “Hot & pleasant 102º in shade   In the morning we loaded up a load of rye straw and Roscoe took it down to East Greenwich 2220 # @ $8 a ton and after he went I opened out the hay down in the orchard below the road in the meadow & then I plowed on the hill back of the school house till Roscoe came home & then we drawed in 2 loads of hay from the orchard & put them in the lower barn & then we all went in the car up to Johnnies seen him & then went on out to Fort Edward & done some trading & went up to Hudson Falls and it is a nice pleasant day very Hot but a breeze to day.”          

            Sat. Sept. 11: “Hot   In the morning we loaded up a load of rye straw and Roscoe took the load down to Salem 2210 # @ $8 a ton and I plowed down on the big hill back of the school house till Roscoe came back & then drawed the rest of the hay 1 load from the meadow & 3 from the hill or field cross from the barn and we got through haying at last I guess. and it is a nice pleasant day some cloudy and at night Rob Hughey came here.”

            Sun. Sept. 12: “Pleasant & cooler   We all went to church and we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron and we stayed for sunday school and after dinner we all went up to Johnnies & seem him he is about the same We took Mr. Andy Foster & his Wife for a short ride and it is a nice day some cooler.”

            Mon. Sept. 13: “Cloudy & Hot   In the morning we got up early & Roscoe took a load of cheese out to Fort Edward and it rained a while & then I plowed most all day down on the big hill back of the school house and in the forenoon Rob did’nt work & in the afternoon Rob cut corn in the orchard or pretended to and Roscoe took a load of rye straw 1950 # @ $8 a ton down to West Hebron and it is a hot day some cloudy and rained a little in the morning Ruby took Marion down to school in the car & brought up Lydia Roscoe brought Marion home at night.”

            Tues. Sept. 14: “Hot & pleasant 96º   In the morning Roscoe took the girls to school and then took a company up to Comstock & was gone all day and brought the girls home from school and in the forenoon I plowed up on the big hill back of the school house and Rob cut brush around the fences over on the other place and in the afternoon Rob & I cut corn in the orchard an boiled a kettle of feed & Rob took sick it was fearful hot. at night Mr. Saborine & a Mr. Sherman came out to see us on business and at night Roscoe went down to West Hebron and it is a hot night.”

            Wed. Sept. 15: “Hot & pleasant 102º shade   I plowed nearly all day on the big hill and got pretty near done and in the morning Roscoe took the girls down to school and took his Mother up home and left her and when he came back he went at dragging with his team on the hill with the smoothing Harrow and he quit early and went u p after his Mother and then went down and got the girls from school & Ruby kept the babe and done the work. Rob went away some place to see a Doctor I guess Roscoe went away at night. It is a nice pleasant day very hot and at night we had a heavy Thunder shower.”

            Thur. Sept. 16: “Hot & pleasant 98º   In the forenoon I finished plowing (the big hill) for rye and drew of a few stone & began sowing rye I took the rye out in the field & Roscoe took the girls down to school in the car and then he dragged the rest of the day he got over it once & then went at dragging in the rye he used both teams & it was fearful hot too. and I sowed the rest of the hill to rye. nearly all of it I was busy too at night we all went out to Hudson Falls to a fire works Celebration we saw a great crowd Ruby took the car & went after the school girls an it is a hot & pleasant day it soon dried off.”

            Fri. Sept. 17: “Hot & pleasant 102º in shade   In the morning Roscoe took the girls to school at West Hebron & he took his Mother up to Belcher & left her at her folks and went up & got her at night when he went after the girls and he dragged what time he had on the big hill with the smoothing harrow and I plowed  down on the big hill nearly all day but did’nt get quite done and it was another scorcher hot as ever only a little breeze part of the time. at night Roscoe went away some place. (By a Mistake this is written for Sept 15 Wednesday)”

            Sat. Sept. 18: “Pleasant & cooler   In the morning after we done the chores we all started for Comstock prison we left the babe at Everetts & Lydia went with us we went on up to Whitehall & came back to the Great Meadow Prison & eat our Dinner & then seen a game of ball & went through the Prison and got home about dark and had a good time and it is a nice pleasant day cooler but pleasant

            Fri. Sept 17 By Mistake            In the morning Roscoe took the girls down to school in the car & then he dragged in the rest of the rye on the big hill & I took my team & rolled most of the rye on the big hill we finished the rye and it is a nice pleasant day  hot too at night Roscoe & Ruby went to Salem in the Car to an open air dance.”

            Sun. Sept. 19: “Pleasant & cooler   We all went to church and we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron and we stayed for Sunday school when we went to church we run the car up to Johnnies & seen him. He don’t seen to be any better and after dinner Roscoe took the Car over to Jim Lants and took them for a ride out to Hudson Falls and around back home and at night he went away some place and it is a nice day some cooler.”

            Mon. Sept. 20: “Pleasant & warm   In the forenoon Roscoe & I went over on the other place & began digging his potatoes in the old orchard below the road and they are light we got about 22 bu and put them in the Cellar over there and in the afternoon we cut corn up in the orchard and it is a nice pleasant day at night we all went out to Fort Edward & got some shoes mended & Roscoe got a new pair & I got a pair of Rubber boots and we went up to Hudson Falls and back home & Rob showed up at night and it is a nice day to work.”

            Tues. Sept. 21: “Rain & cloudy & colder   In the forenoon Roscoe took the team down to West Hebron & got them shawd and he took a small grist and I boiled a kettle of feed & chored around and Rob sat around it rained most of the time and in the afternoon Rob & I went over on the other place & dug potatoes in Roscoes field and he brought over the wagon & he took his horse down to W. H. & got him shawd and it is a nice afternoon but windy & getting colder at night Frank Day came down & put a bull ring in the bulls nose & Roscoe went away some place.”

            Wed. Sept. 22: “Pleasant   In the forenoon we all dug potatoes over on the other place in Roscoes field and in the afternoon we all went down & cut corn in the lower fallow and it is a nice pleasant day some windy”

            Thur. Sept. 23: “Pleasant   In the morning Roscoe took Georgia & I up to Johnnies he is some worse they telephoned down & wanted Georgia to come up & stay to day we left her & Roscoe & I came back & we all dug potatoes over on the other place in Roscoes field and at noon Rob was sick & went away to see the Doctor and Roscoe & I cut corn up in the orchard back of the house & we got done and about 4 o’clock Roscoe took the car & went out & got his Aunt Jen at Hudson Falls & took her up to Johnnies & brought his Mother home and it is a nice day”

            Fri. Sept. 24: “Pleasant   In the forenoon Roscoe & I dug potatoes over on the other place and at noon Roscoe went down to Argyle to the Bank on business and then we cut corn down in the lower fallow and at night Rob came back and after supper we all went out to Glens Falls to Merchants & Farmers performances and did’nt get home very early and seen a sight such a crowd & fine fireworks.”

            Sat. Sept. 25: “Pleasant   In the morning Roscoe took his Mother to see Johnnie he is not so well & she telephoned for a nurse at Glens Falls and Rob & I dug potatoes over on the other place the childrens potatoes across the creek they picked them up and in the afternoon Rob & I cut corn down in the lower fallow & Roscoe went out to Fort Edward & got a nurse & took her up to his Granfather’s and then helped to cut corn till night and it is a nice pleasant day”

            Sun. Sept. 26: “Rain & Windy   We did’nt go to church Roscoe took his Mother, Harold, Mary E. & me up to see Johnnie he is no better and when we came home our Car came to a stand still so Roscoe went down & got Clifton Day to carry his over home & he got or brought the team over & drawed the Car in George McEachrons barn or shed & Joe McElroy came along & brought Georgia, Harold & Mary E. home & came back & he helped Roscoe to get the car in order & started it and then Roscoe run the Car down to West Hebron & got some gas & 3 girls & I brought the team home and at night he took the girls back to W. H. and we had a nice rain & cleared off colder and a fearful west wind & cold too”

            Mon. Sept. 27: “Windy & cooler   In the morning Johnnie was worse & they Telephoned down & Roscoe took Mother & me up & we stayed all day or about I came down a little before night & at night I went back up & Georgia came home & I stayed all night He was dying most of the day & night Roscoe carried us back & forth & the girls to school in the Car & Rob dug potatoes all day over in the orchard below the road at the other place and it is a windy & cold day.”

            Tues. Sept. 28: “Pleasant but cool   Johnnie Died about 5 -15 in the morning just as it was getting Day light  Roscoe brought his Mother up & went back & took the girls to school & came back up to Johnnies & took Everett & me down to Salem to see about getting the grave dug and then Roscoe & I came home & I put on a Kettle of feed & left Georgia up home & in the afternoon we all cut corn down in the lower fallow & finished it there & began up in the Upper fallow. Rob dug potatoes in the forenoon in Roscoes field at night Roscoe took Ruby & Lydia up to Johnnies & brought Mother home and it is a nice pleasant day cold nights but not much frost.”

            Wed. Sept 29: “Pleasant   In the forenoon We all cut corn up in the upper fallow Roscoe took the girls down to school first & Rob played out and in the afternoon I dug potatoes over in the orchard on the other place & Roscoe took his Mother out to Fort Edward on business & when he came back he went down to W.  H. after the school girls and then he came over with the team & we put the potatoes in the cellar and at night Eliza Liddle came over & we all went to Johnnies awhile and Ruby came home with us and it is a nice day pleasant but cool nights. Rob went away at noon.”

            Thur. Sept 30: “Beautiful day & pleasant   In the morning Roscoe went over & got Jim Lants 2 seated Surrey & we got ready & went up to Johnnies funeral it was a large funeral at 11 o’clock & was burried at Salem and Roscoe carried Mary his GranMother to the yard & Georgia, Ruby, Marion Hazel, Harold & I went together & Eliza kept the youngsters at home and it was most night when we got home. & I took Jims wagon home and at night Roscoe took Willard & Merritt out home to Hudson Falls & Ruby & Eliza went along and it is a perfect day clear & pleasant.”

            Fri. Oct. 1: “Pleasant   In the forenoon Roscoe and I cut corn up on top of the hill in the upper fallow and Marion drove to school to-day and in the afternoon Roscoe & I went up to Mary’s they  had a bee to cut her corn & we got it all cut we went in the car and it is a cloudy day but a nice day to work.”

            Sat. Oct. 2: “Rainy all day   In the forenoon we chored around and in the afternoon Roscoe & I drove down to Argyle to town caucus & I seen Mr. Conway on business and it is a rainy & nasty day cooler to at night Roscoe went away.”

            Sun. Oct. 3: “cloudy   Roscoe took his Mother & babe up to Marys and stayed awhile & Ruby, Marion & Hazel went to church and they heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron and they stayed for Sunday school and Roscoe & his Mother & babe did’nt get home till most night and it is a nice day but rather cloudy it is very muddy going to-day. the babe is not feeling very well & at night Roscoe went down to West Hebron.”

            Mon. Oct. 4: “Pleasant   Roscoe & I cut corn nearly all day up on top of the upper fallow and we got pretty well along & it is a nice pleasant day warm too. James & John C are both sick and the Doctor came up to see them & Marion came home from school sick & was quite sick John C. was better at night and it is a nice day to cut corn”

            Tues. Oct. 5: “Cloudy & rain   In the morning after we done the chores Roscoe & I took the car & went up & got Mary & Oscar & George McEachron down to Argyle ( & Alex Gourley went along with us) & got out letters of Administration of Johnnies Estate and then we went out to Hudson Falls to get a man but did’nt get him & came back by Ralph Barkleys & looked at a Potato digger & Roscoe took them home at Belcher & went over to Will Lundies & looked at a nother potato digger and I picked a few apples & boiled a kettle of feed & the children are better  to-day and at night Roscoe went away some place.”

            Wed. Oct. 6: “cloudy & warm   Roscoe & I cut corn all day we finished cutting up on top of the hill in the upper fallow and began cutting over on the other place in the field across the creek down the lane and it is a nice warm day but cloudy Harold, Hazel & Marjory was sick to day. at night Roscoe went down to West Hebron in the car to do some trading.”         

            Thur. Oct. 7: “Pleasant & warm   Roscoe & I cut corn all day we finished cutting the piece down across the creek and then in the afternoon we cut up in the orchard above the road & house and we have got it started now and it is a nice day to cut corn it is cloudy & warm nice weather for the time of year.”

            Fri. Oct. 8: “Pleasant & warm   In the morning Roscoe was not feeling very well but before noon he drove the car over to Will Lundys & saw a potato digger work it belonged to W. D. Beveridge and I cut corn over on the other place in the orchard above the road and I finished it all done cutting corn at last and in the afternoon Roscoe took his Mother out to Hudson Falls to get her carpet wove and I picked apples over in the orchard on the other place and it is a nice day rather cloudy and at night we all went up to Marys awhile.”

            Sat. Oct. 9: “cloudy   In the forenoon I dug potatoes over on the other place across the creek down the lane and Harold & James picked them up and Roscoe took the car out to the Garage to get something about it repaired and in the afternoon we both dug potatoes over in the same field & Harold & Hazel picked them up and it is a nice day some cooler. & rather cloudy.  at night Roscoe went away.”

            Sun. Oct. 10: “Pleasant but Cooler   We all went to church and we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron and his text was John the 7 chapter & the 37 verse and Roscoe took the car and went up to Belcher & got his Granmother and he took her home before we all came home and after dinner we all went out to Hudson Falls and on up to Lake George for a ride we took a trip of over 53 miles it was cool and  

            Mon. Oct. 11: “Pleasant  White Frost   In the morning Roscoe took me down to Argyle to see Conway & when we came back we dug a few potatoes & then Roscoe went over to Belcher & got a potato digger at Will Lundys & the children & I picked some apples back of the barn 3 bbls of Baldwins and in the afternoon we went up on top of the hill in the meadow & tried the potato digger & the children & I picked them up & Roscoe brok a castine of the digger & at night he took it down to West Hebron to get repaired and it is a nice pleasant day but cold in the morning & a very White frost.”

            Tues. Oct. 12: “Warm   In the forenoon Roscoe went down to W. H. & got the castine repaired and got the digger in working order I dug some down on the big side Hill till he came back and then the children & I picked what Roscoe dug & he dug in the afternoon and we picked them up the machine does’nt work the best and Ruby went in the car after the school children & brought up Lilian Beverage. and it is a beautiful day & warm.”

            Wed. Oct. 13: “Pleasant   In the forenoon Roscoe dug potatoes with the digger & we picked them up the children & I and in the afternoon Roscoe & I dug by hand & the children picked them up on the big side hill and it is a nice pleasant day.”

            Thur. Oct. 14: “cloudy   In the morning Roscoe went down to West Hebron & got a big evener & he tried 2 teams on it but the team seemed to strong for the digger so we gave it up & then we dug by hand till noon & the children picked them up & in the afternoon we went over on the other place & Roscoe dug his with the digger & we picked them up and it came on rain & made it nasty we got over a load and at night we went out to Hudson Falls in the car & oh how it rained.”

            Fri. Oct. 15: “cloudy but fair   We dug potatoes all day over on the other place the childrens in the field cross the bridge and it was wet digging and we done very well good field but light crop and it is a cloudy day the children picked them up.”

            Sat. Oct. 16: “Pleasant   We dug potatoes all day over on the other place on the childrens on the field across the bridge and they were light the children picked them up and it is a nice day to dig and in the afternoon Georgia, Ruby, Marion & the little ones went down to West Hebron to a Shower for Ruby held by Everetts & folks and it is a nice day & Ruby drove the Car and at night Roscoe went away.”

            Sun. Oct. 17: “Pleasant   We all went to church and we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron and his text was 1st Kings the 18 chapter & the 21 verse and Lydia went with us & she went home from church & we came home at noon & came home by Belcher or Marys and seen her and after we got our dinner we all went for a ride up to Lake George & on down the lake about ½ way and part of the road along the lake was fine & part of it was fierce and we did’nt get home till after dark and it is a nice pleasant day & clear.”

            Mon. Oct. 18: “Pleasant & warm   John Willis came down & helped us to dig & pick potatoes to day we dug over on the other place Roscoes in the old orchard below the road and Roscoe dug some with the digger and we got over 100 bu & I sold a load on the phone for 70¢ and at night we sorted a load of Roscoes over to the other place & we put the load on and it is a nice pleasant day & warm too.”

            Tues. Oct. 19 :”Rainy & Warm   In the morning Roscoe took a load of potatoes out to Glens Falls 64 bu at 70¢ to Red Line and in the forenoon I dug potatoes over on the other place & Harold helped to dig some & the children picked them up & we finished Roscoes we got 25 bu. any way and in the afternoon Ruby & I went up to Marys and the Appraisers George A. McMahon & Oscar H. Chapman to the Apprisal of the Personal property of Johnnies Estate. & we did’nt get through till dark and Roscoe got home before night a little & He & Ruby went down to W. H. at night and it is a cloudy & warm day rained now & then in the day.”

            Wed. Oct. 20: “Warm & cloudy   In the morning Roscoe & I went up to Marys & helped Willis to do the threshing and it took nearly all day we got home about 3½ o’clock & then we went over in the potato field that is across the creek on the other place & dug the most of them and it is a cloudy day & warm it rained a little but cleared off partly at night.”

            Thur. Oct. 21: “Pleasant   We dug potatoes all day up on the big side hill & Willis came down about 9 o’clock and we got 3 loads they were a fair crop & at night we all went out to Hudson Falls and Fort Edward & done some trading got Harold & James & Roscoe a New suit and it is a nice day some windy & is partly clear.”

            Fri. Oct. 22: “cooler & Windy   In the morning Roscoe went up & got a Woman to paper the Kitchen & went down around by West Hebron & then we dug potatoes all day in the forenoon on the side Hill & up on top of the hill in the Meadow and we got 2 loads about 70 bu and it is some windy & it seems colder too.”

            Sat. Oct. 23: “Windy & cold   Roscoe & I dug potatoes all day up on the big side hill and the children picked them up and it was a cold & windy day we caught it fierce and at night Roscoe went over & got Florence & then took us all up to Glens Falls to do some trading and it was cool riding I can say we got home about 11 o’clock and the roads are fine we got 2 loads of potatoes. In the morning Roscoe went up & got Mrs. Goodell & took her home at night.”

            Sun. Oct. 24: “Pleasant   Roscoe took us Roscoe, Georgia, Marion, John C., Mary E & I to church & then took Florence home and came back & got us & Mary & Aunt Kate came home with us and we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron and it was Sacrament and after dinner Roscoe took Mary & Aunt Kate home and Lydia came up and at night Roscoe went away. and it is a nice pleasant day but cool air.”

            Mon. Oct. 25: “Pleasant Frost    In the forenoon I dug potatoes up on the big side hill and 2 fellows came here to dig potatoes and went at digging up on top of the hill in the meadow @ $7 per Acre & their dinner 6000 Hills to the Acre and Roscoe & Ruby & Lydia took the Car out to Hudson Falls to get the cylinder fixed & had to leave it & came home in another car & in the afternoon Roscoe drawed down the potatoes that the men dug and then he helped me to load or pick up what I had dug and it is a nice pleasant day cool in the morning quite a freeze I cut some old wood in the morning till it thawed out.”

            Tues. Oct. 26: “Ruby’s Wedding  cloudy & rain   In the forenoon Arthur McFarland & I dug potatoes up on the big side hill and Roscoe went out to Hudson Falls and got the Car and then went on errands all day & in the afternoon Arthur & I fixed a place for Horses and the men came up & dug potatoes on top of the Hill in the meadow by the Acre and at night Ruby was Married by Mr. McEachron to Harry Smith and there was a crowd here it began raining before night awhile & came right down a nasty night but cleared of    a man was here & kept the lights going & Roscoe carried them out to Fort Edward.”

            Wed. Oct. 27: “Pleasant   Arthur & I dug potatoes all day up on the big side hill and we dug round ones and Harold helped to pick potatoes & Roscoe took the car and went on errands and a man from Belcher came here to dig & he drove down his name is Edgerly It was wet in the morning but soon dried off and was a nice day”

            Thur. Oct. 28: “Pleasant   We dug potatoes all day up on the big side hill & last night Maud Horse got out & went over in Billy Liddles barnyard & died & Roscoe took the team over & snaked her out in the field & Billy & he dug a hole & burried her & in the afternoon we all dug potatoes & Harold helped to pick up 3 of us to dig and it is a nice day & the other men dug up on top of the meadow & we got in some potatoes to-day.  at night Roscoe & Arthur went down to West Hebron and Edd Pollock rode down with them.”

            Fri. Oct. 29: “Pleasant   In the morning another man came to help us to dig and Oscar Chapman came down to help us & Jim Moore came down to help us and we got out some potatoes to day and in the afternoon we sorted & loaded up a load of Giants to go to Salem and it is a nice pleasant day and at night another  man came to help us to dig.”

            Sat. Oct. 30: “Pleasant   The same men helped us to day to dig but Oscar he was’nt here but John Liddle came over to help us and we finished digging on the big side hill the long ones and in the afternoon Rob Sloan came up & helped us and we had 8 Men part of the day & in the morning Roscoe took a load of Giants down to Sa. 57 bu @ 70¢ per bu he got home after dinner and in the afternoon we went up on top of the hill in the meadow & put on another load of Giants to be taken of Monday.”

            Sun. Oct. 31: “Pleasant   We all went to church and we heard a sermon by McEachron and we came home at noon and after dinner we all went up to Marys awhile and then came home before chore time and it is a nice pleasant day and Roscoe went away at night.”

            Mon. Nov. 1: “Pleasant   In the morning Roscoe took a load of potatoes down to Salem Giants @ 70¢ per bu and 5 of us dug potatoes all day and when Roscoe got home he came up & we sorted another load or nearly one and we did’nt get done and it is a nice warm day the children helped to pick part of them and we got pretty well along on the digging.”

            Tues. Nov. 2: “Election Thunder Shower & cooler   In the morning Roscoe took me down to Argyle to vote and the two men I had rode down to Argyle with us and we got back before 7 o’clock and Arthur & I dug what round ones up in the big side hill and in the afternoon we dug up on top of the hill in the meadow & it was very windy too & was colder at night Roscoe as soon as he brought me back he went over in Hebron & carried voters for Will Beveridge and at night we all went over to Campbells to Ruby’s & Smiths Reception & had a good time   a crowd was there and it was good roads but rather cool.”

            Wed. Nov. 3: “Windy & cool   In the forenoon I went over to Billys & helped him to butcher his pigs and in the afternoon Arthur came down and he and I dug potatoes up on top of the hill in the Meadow & Harold picked them and it disagreeable digging the wind blew a perfect gale & was cold too. Roscoe took a load of potatoes down to Salem Giants”

            Thur. Nov. 4: “Pleasant but cool   It was the day of the Auction sale up to Marys and we were all up there nearly all day & did’nt get home till late and it was a busy day and a good turn out and it is a nice day pleasant but cool.”

            Fri. Nov. 5: “cloudy rainy   In the morning it rained some but soon cleared away and we went up I had some bill to take in help Willis  I was up there all day & Roscoe took a load of wood at West Hebron for Mary she intends to Move tomorrow and I stayed around all day John Willis drove my team down home & his boy drove the cattle down & it is a cool windy & raw day.”

            Sat. Nov. 6: “In the morning Harold & I took the old team & Hay rack & went up to Marys & loaded up a load of Mooving & John Willis took the load down to West Hebron and I stayed up & helped different ones to get settled for & Roscoe came up with the big team & took a load of wood down for his Grandmother at West Hebron and I got home about noon & we finished digging potatoes all done for this year & it is a cool day but pleasant.”

            Sun. Nov. 7: “Pleasant but cool Frooze   Harold, James & I stayed at home and the rest all went to church &  Ruby & Harry came over & they all went to church in the car & it is a nice pleasant day & Ruby & Harry went home before night a little and Roscoe went away some place at night. and it is a cool day.”

            Mon. Nov. 8: “Pleasant   In the morning we loaded up a load of potatoes ‘Giants’ & Roscoe took them down to Salem 60 bu at 70¢ per bu and I picked some apples up in the orchard & drawed in 2 loads of corn and sat up the stalks that was laying on the ground and at night we sorted & Loaded part of a nother load and it is a nice pleasant day some warmer to day it looks some like rain at night.”

            Tues. Nov. 9: “cool & windy   In the morning we loaded up a load of potatoes mine from the House Cellar & Roscoe took them down to Salem Giants 60 bu at 70¢ per bu and I picked some apples over on the other place and it is a cool raw day and very windy and at night we all went down to West Hebron to the banquet given at Everetts hall in honor of Will Beveridges the Supervisor Elect of Hebron   Marion did’nt come home she stayed down with her Grandmother all night.”

            Wed. Nov. 10: “Cool but pleasant   In the morning we went over to the other house and sorted & loaded up a load of potatoes & Roscoe took a load of Giants down to Salem 65 bu @ 75¢ per bu they were Roscoes and I helped him up the hill & then I came back & picked some apples on the other place and it is a cool & windy day.”

            Thur. Nov. 11: “cloudy & cool   In the morning we went over to the other house and loaded up a load of potatoes & Roscoe took them down to Salem Giants 66 bu @ 75¢ per bu they were the childrens potatoes and in the forenoon after I got back from helping him up the hill I picked some apples over on the other place & in the afternoon Mr. Hunt the ‘Light’ man came here & another man interested man & sold me the Electric light plant & Gasoline Engine to be put in inside of 30 days for $420 It is a cool raw & cloudy day warmer at night & looks like rain.”

            Fri. Nov. 12: “cloudy & rain   In the forenoon Roscoe & I drawed in the husked stalks small load & we put them in a stack by the big barn and then we drawed in the corn that was not husked and we got it all in the barn or stables and at noon it began & rained some & did rain enough to stop us from drawing any in & in the afternoon we chored around & picked up what apples was on the ground & it is a warm rain at night Roscoe went away some place.”

            Sat. Nov. 13: “In the forenoon Arthur came down & we all put most of the oat straw in under cover and in the afternoon Roscoe took a small grist down to W. H. & he got it all home with him for the pigs & he took the Gas Engine home and Harold & I went over to the other place & picked the rest of the apples & we got them all picked and it is a very windy day & getting cooler.”

            Sun. Nov. 14: “Pleasant   Roscoe, Marion, Hazel & I went to church and we heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron and his text was in the Psalms and the rest of them stayed home & kept house Clayton B. & his wife went to church with us and after dinner we all went out to Hudson Falls & stopped at Jens & Ruby was there too and we got home a little after dark & Roscoe took Marion down to W. H . at his Granmothers to stay this week to go to school. It is a cloudy day & looks & acts like snow.”     

            Mon. Nov. 15: “Rainy   In the forenoon Roscoe and I husked some corn in the big barn & put it in bags and in the afternoon Roscoe took a grist down to West Hebron in the Car and got it back again and while he was down there he took his Grandmother up to the Farm to see about some things and I husked the rest of the corn that was on the barn floor and chored around & we had a nice rain and it partly cleared of before night a little and got some cooler and a heavy west wind.”

            Tues. Nov. 16: “cold & windy frooze   In the morning Roscoe went up to Marys place & loaded up the rye straw and took it down to Salem 1580 # @ $8 a ton and it is a cold & windy day but Fair I put up 2 barrels of apples & Headed them & after dinner I went up on top of the hill in the fallow & cut the corn shocks all of it and at night Roscoe went away some place West Hebron.”

            Wed. Nov. 17: “Windy & cold   Roscoe & I drawed in corn all day from up on top of the hill in the upper fallow and we got it all in 9 big loads and we worked too we put it in the hay barn & big mow and it snowed a little in the morning but was only a squall & cleared off cold north wind.”

            Thur. Nov. 18: “Pleasant but cold Frooze hard   Roscoe & I drawed corn all day from the lower fallow and we cut it too we got the most of it in it was good corn too we put it on the barn floor & in the barn cellar I was about sick at night & had to go to bed I was so dizzy I could’nt hardly stand up . we left a load setting by the barn and it is a nice day but cold.”

            Fri. Nov. 19: “rain & Thunder showers warmer   I was sick all day &  in bed most of the time and Roscoe & Harold onloaded the load of corn & the wind blew fierce and they chored around and in the afternoon Roscoe, Harold & Hazel went in the car down to West Hebron & got Marion & Mary came up with them and the Doctor came up to see me after night & we had a heavy Thunder shower & Roscoe went over to the church to a social and it rained a lot I was some better at night.”

            Sat. Nov. 20: “cloudy & rain & snow squalls   I am some better to day but did’nt do much husked a little corn for the hogs we got ready to go over to Rubys & out to Hudson Falls & got down to the McAuley place and the car did’nt work well so we turned around & came back home and the roads are very soft at night Ruby & Harry came over and stayed all night & Roscoe took Mary down home at West Hebron and it is a nasty day we did’nt do much.”

            Sun. Nov. 21: “cloudy & rain   We did’nt go to church so all stayed at home & had a chicken dinner and Harry & Ruby went home before night a little & at night Roscoe & Marion went over to the church to the young peoples meeting and then Roscoe took Marion down to West Hebron & left her at her Grandmothers and it is a dark & rainy day not very cold it partly cleared off. We have lost one of our calves the boys looked around after it but did’nt find it.”

            Mon. Nov. 22: “cloudy & squally   In the forenoon I boiled a kettle of feed & husked some corn and Roscoe chored around and in the afternoon we cut & drawed in the rest of the corn that was out in the lower fallow 2 loads & put it in the barn Floor & it was some wet and at night or a little before Roscoe took the Car & went out to Hudson Falls & then he telephoned that he forgot his license so Harold & I took a horse & drove down to North Argyle & met him & gave it to him & he went up to Adamsville & stayed all night at Ruby & Harrys He & Harry is going to take the Car to Albany to-morrow it is a cloudy & windy day”

            Tues. Nov. 23: “cloudy & cool   In the forenoon I chored around & husked some corn & helped to churn and we telephoned over to Ruby she said Roscoe & Harry started for Albany about 7½ o’clock & she came over here & got here about noon & stayed all night & in the afternoon I husked some corn & helped to churn again and I got track of our last calf & after school was out we the boys & me went down to James Mahaffys & got the calf and it is a cloudy day & cool but thawed out and is very muddy it snowed last night but thawed away to-day.”

            Wed. Nov. 24: “Pleasant   In the forenoon after I got the chores done I husked corn in the big barn and I put the stalks down in the cow stable and in the afternoon the boys and I went over on the other place and cut & drawed over 2 loads of corn across the creek and Frank Allen (the man who is living over in the other house) drawed over 1 load on his wagon & it is a nice pleasant day it freezes nights  but was a fine day Roscoe & Harry got home about 8 - 30 from Albany Harry & Ruby stayed all night & Roscoe had to go down to West Hebron.”

            Thur. Nov. 25: “Pleasant  frooze hard   We finished drawing in corn we got what was across the creek & up in the upper orchard 3 big loads and Harry helped us they stayed over nearly all day & we drawed a load of straw that was out doors over to the horse barn and then the little boys & I went over to the other place & got the apples picked from the ground nearly a box full and it is a nice pleasant day beautiful day for the time of year pleasant & warm but cold nights & frosty too. at night Roscoe went away some place W. H . I guess.”

            Fri. Nov. 26: “Pleasant  Frooze   In the morning after we done the chores we all went out to Hudson Falls in the car and stopped at Jens & left Mary & waited for Ruby & Harry & we all went up to Glens Falls & got our pictures taken in a group and it is a beautiful day and we got home about dark and at night Roscoe took the car & went to a dance & broke down & had to hire a car to bring them home & it is warmer at night.”

            Sat. Nov. 27: “Rain   In the forenoon I husked corn and Roscoe chored around & drawed a load of manure over to the other place up on top of the back hill and in the afternoon it rained & Roscoe rode a horse down to Argyle & the Adirondack Motor Car Co. brought out a car & took our car out to Hudson Falls to get repaired and I boiled a kettle of feed & put the stalks in the barn and chored around & it cleared off before night a nice little rain & warm too. At night Roscoe took his girl home.”

            Sun. Nov. 28: “Pleasant & warm   We did’nt go to church so all stayed at home and kept house and it is a beautiful day for the time of year clear & warm too. at night Roscoe took Marion down to West Hebron she is going to board at Everetts till her Grandmother comes back”

            Mon. Nov. 29: “rain & snow   In the forenoon I sorted potatoes down in the House cellar and Roscoe sewed the sheep skin on the Double harness and in the afternoon I husked some corn over in the big barn and Roscoe chored around and it is a stormy and nasty day rained nearly all day & about night it began snowing and the ground was white in places some cooler.”

            Tues. Nov. 30: “Pleasant but cold   Roscoe drawed Horse manure over on the other place up on top of the back hill 5 big loads and I helped to load up and I husked corn & put up part of a grist and sorted a few seconds potatoes & it is a windy day but clear & pleasant in the sun but freezing nearly all day. at night Roscoe went down to West Hebron.”

            Wed. Dec. 1: “Pleasant   In the morning Roscoe went out to Hudson Falls after his Grandmother & done some trading at Abe Oppenheins & Barnards and he got home about night & took her down home at West Hebron and I husked some corn & put up part of a grist and sorted some little potatoes and it is a nice pleasant day but cold nights.”

            Thur. Dec. 2: “cloudy & snowy   Roscoe drawed manure in the forenoon from under the Horse barn to up on top of the back hill on the other place and I helped to load and husked corn most of the time and it is snowy in the afternoon & our light man came here & stayed for dinner and it snowed nearly all afternoon but don’t amount to much Roscoe drove Mollie down & got her shawd.”

            Fri. Dec. 3: “cloudy & snowy   In the forenoon Roscoe drawed 1 load of manure over on the other place & brought over some apples and then drawed a load of dirt on a bridge up the road and in the afternoon he took a grist down to West Hebron & got it back & got the team shawd & brought Marion home and it is a cloudy day but not very cold I husked corn in the big barn.”

            Sat. Dec. 4: “Snowy & cool raw day   In the forenoon after we got the chores Roscoe went down to Salem & got the Gasoline Engine and the rest of us went out to Fort Edward in the 3 seater and done some trading and came back by Rubys & stopped awhile and then came home we got home a little after dark & Roscoe had the chores done and it is a stormy day snowed but did’nt amount to much.”

            Sun. Dec. 5: “cloudy & cool   We did’nt go to church any of us so we all stayed at home & kept house and it is a cloudy cold raw day looks like snow & is getting colder. at night Roscoe took Marion down to West Hebron to her Grandmothers to go to school.”

            Mon. Dec. 6: “cool   I husked some corn and chored around and Roscoe drawed some dirt on the road & in the afternoon Willie McFarland came down &  helped Roscoe to draw dirt on the road & I husked some corn and it is a cool day cold nights.”

            Tues. Dec. 7: “cold   In the morning I started for Charley Keys for some pigs & found him & got 8 pigs and Roscoe chored around and it snowed some and I got home about noon and

Ruby & Harry came over & stayed all night and I husked some & chored around and it snowed some & the ground is nearly white.”

            Wed. Dec. 8: “cloudy & snowy   In the forenoon I husked some corn and chored around and Roscoe chored around and at noon Mr. Hunt the light man came and in the afternoon he & I got the Engine in the cellar and got it sat and the switch board etc he got the lights burning at night Temporary & Roscoe took old Grey down to West Hebron to get shawd and it is a nasty snowy day not very cold but cloudy & snowed.  in the morning we loaded the piano in Smiths wagon & some other things & they went home.”

            Thur. Dec. 9: “cloudy & snowy   In the forenoon Roscoe went down to Argyle and got some stove castines & some pipe for the Engine and I helped Mr. Hunt put in wire etc and I husked corn and in the afternoon Roscoe & Mr. Hunt worked at putting in the lights and I took the big wagon down to Mr. Cuthberts & got a calf of him and it is a cloudy and stormy & getting colder at night  and at night Roscoe took a severe pain on his side & was so bad we called the Doctor and his Mother sat up with him all night.”

            Fri. Dec. 10: “cold   In the morning Roscoe was some better and I done the chores & then I helped Mr. Hunt most of the day the Doctor came up to see Roscoe & in a little while Roscoe went down to West Hebron to a dance at Everetts Hall & he stayed down all night and it is a windy cold raw day  at night I went over to the other place or House & scooped up some potatoes in bags that was near the door.”

            Sat. Dec. 11: “Pleasant but cold   I chored around and helped Mr. Hunt to put in the wire or lights we worked up in the garret in the forenoon and after dinner Roscoe & Marion came home and he was feeling pretty well and at night Mr. Hunt went home and I chored around and it is a cold day but nice & pleasant.”

            Sun. Dec. 12: “Pleasant cold   Roscoe, Marion & Hazel went to church and they heard a sermon by Mr. McEachron and they stayed for sunday school and Georgia and I stayed at home and kept the youngsters and it is a nice pleasant day but winters nights at night Roscoe took Marion down to West Hebron to her Grandmothers to go to school this week and it is nice wheeling some snow but not enough for sleighing.”

            Mon. Dec. 13: “cloudy & stormy   In the forenoon I husked some corn and chored around and Roscoe chored around and in the afternoon I husked corn and Roscoe took the big wagon & went up to his Grandmothers home place & took the last load of her wood down to West Hebron and it was storming so hard he put the load under Charley Hannas shed & stayed down all night and it is a cloudy day & snowed a little most of the day and about night it began snowing for a fare and snowed right down & kept coming.”        

            Tues. Dec. 14: “First sleighing colder & windy.   In the morning it had snowed about 20 inches deep & still snowing some & in the forenoon after I got the chores done & paths shoveled out. Harold rode the old Grey down to the school house & beat out a rode & Rob Sloan came up & he helped me to get out our sleighs and then Roscoe came home. He borrowed Everetts sleighs to come home and in the afternoon we broke out the road it was drifted bad in places the children have colds and it is cold & rather cloudy drifting yet. 5 Hours on Ride for me”

            Wed. Dec. 15: “cloudy & cold   In the forenoon Roscoe drove over the road & we went over to the other house & brought over the cutters and hand sleighs & I husked some corn and Roscoe took a grist down to West Hebron & brought it home with him & he took Everetts sleighs home and I husked some corn and at night Roscoe went up to Belcher to a chicken pie supper and it is a cold winters day good sleighing when it gets beat down at night Roscoe drove down and got Mrs. Bussing.”

            Thur. Dec. 16: “Cold winter weather   In the forenoon Roscoe & I went over to the other place and sorted a load of Roscoes potatoes and put them in bags and in the afternoon I husked some corn & boiled a kettle of feed and at or before night Roscoe went down to West Hebron and got Marion, Florence & Lydia & Ruby & Harry came over and at night they all went down to Argyle to a dance in the big sleighs and it is good sleighing and it is a  nice pleasant day cold nights.”

            Fri. Dec. 17: “rain   I husked corn & chored around and the rest did’nt do much but sit around the house and at night the young folks all went down to West Hebron to an exhibition given by the school and it is a nasty day it began raining about noon and rained the rest of the day but frooze as it came a bad crust at night but still keeps running getting warmer I guess it acts like a thaw. a bad night.”

            Sat. Dec. 18: “cloudy & rain   I husked corn part of the day and Ruby & Harry went home before night a little & Lydia went with them & Roscoe took Mrs. Bussing home and it rained quite a lot the snow is settled & some bare ground but plenty of snow & sleighing left and it is some cooler at night & looks some like fair weather.”

            Sun. Dec. 19: “cloudy   It frooze a little but not very cold and we did’nt go to church any of us so all stayed home & kept house and it is a nice day but rather cloudy and not very cold and at night Roscoe took Marion down to West Hebron to go to school”

            Mon. Dec. 20: “Pleasant   In the morning Roscoe drove the team over the beat and Ruby & Harry went home and I husked some corn down in the barn cellar and in the afternoon I sorted a load of apples Roscoe helped some & chored around and it is a nice day and warm too it did’nt drift so bad after all. this is written fro Dec. 27. by mistake of a week”

            Tues. Dec. 21: “cold & cloudy   I husked some corn & put up part of a grist and we chored around and in the afternoon I boiled a kettle of feed & Ruby brought over Lydia & Roscoe took her down home at night & brought home Marion and it is good sleighing & Lydia & Harold went down & got Mrs. Bussing.”

            Wed. Dec. 22: “cold coldest yet 5º in places   In the morning Roscoe took a load of potatoes down to East Greenwich 66 bu of his potatoes at 75¢ per by and he got back before night & done the chores and in the morning Georgia & I went out to Hudson Falls & put the team in & went on up to Glens Falls and done some trading & came back down to Fort Edward & put the team in & bed them and done some trading and it was late when we got home”

            Thur. Dec. 23: “Pleasant   Billy came over in the morning and he and I husked corn in the barn floor nearly all day and Roscoe took the rest of Rubys things over to her house at Adamsville and went on out to Hudson Falls & took the car & went up to Glens Falls and when he got home he went down to West Hebron to a Xmas tree. and it is a nice warm day.”

            Fri. Dec. 24: “cloudy   Billy came over & he and I husked corn all day . and in the forenoon Roscoe & Harry took a grist down to West Hebron & got it home they took a sleigh it is getting thin in places and they got a tree over in the woods for a Xmas tree and at night Roscoe & Florence went to a Xmas tree over to East Hebron & Ruby & Harry did too. & Roscoe brought Florence home with him and it is a warm day snow is getting soft.”

            Sat. Dec. 25: “ cloudy & rained some   ‘A Merry Christmas’  We had a Christmas Dinner Everett & his Wife, Mary & Lydia, Jen & the boys were here & Roscoes girl. Harry & Ruby and we had a Christmas tree in day time and Roscoe took sick after dinner & was sick till night pain on his side & Headache . Harry went home but Ruby stayed and it is a warm day the snow is going to-day.”

            Sun. Dec. 26: “Stormy   It rained a lot last night & before morning a little it turned to snow and was snowing hard in the morning & kept up till afternoon & it began to blow & it blew fierce snow flew everywhere. We did’nt go to church so all stayed at home and after night Harry came over after Ruby & stayed all night. & at night Roscoe took Florence home he was some better to day but was in bed part of the day.”

            Mon. Dec. 27: “cloudy & cool Written  Written for Dec 20   In the forenoon Roscoe went down to Salem & got a load of coal for his Grandmother and I went up to Belcher on business for the Estate and in the afternoon I chored around & husked some & it is a cool day.”   

            Tues. Dec. 28: “cloudy & stormy   I husked corn part of the day and Roscoe chored around & washed his wagon and in the afternoon Mr. Hunt came and I helped him he got a light put in the Hog pen and it is a warm day & looks like rain.”

            Wed. Dec. 29: “cloudy & stormy   In the morning we got up early and Roscoe took a load of apples out to Glens Falls 18 bbls at 2.25 per bbl at Red line and about 10 o’clock it came on snow & snowed a regular blizzard Roscoe got home before night a little he had an awful time to come home in and Mr. Hunt & I worked at putting in the light & wire we got it all strung on the outside and it is getting colder.”

            Thur. Dec. 30: “colder   In the forenoon Roscoe opened out the roads & I helped Mr. Hunt to put in the lights & in the afternoon Harold & James & I took the old team and went over to Will Keyworths and got 3 calves I bought of him and Roscoe helped Mr. Hunt and it is a cold day getting colder at night Roscoe went away.”

            Fri. Dec. 31 cold 20 below zero   We helped Mr. Hunt all day & in the afternoon Roscoe took Mother up to Belcher to see her Aunt Sarah & then went down to West Hebron to see her Mother and at night Roscoe took Mr. Hunt down to West Hebron he went home and it is a pleasant day but cold & fine sleighing very frosty at    We have come to the close of a nother year we are all well & enjoying good health. It has been a very good year financially Potato crop very light but good prices.”
