July 12. Harvey was feeling bad today did not get up
all day and at night we had Dr Byrnes from Hudson Falls come out to see him.
His blood pressure is 220 and the Dr said it was only a matter of time. He
might live quite a while or might go at any time there was not much to be done
for him, only keep his bowels open & gave some pills to take his blood
pressure down. and make him as comfortable as possible
and we tried to do so
July 18. Dr Byrnes came out to see
July 24 Dr Mulcahy came
out to see
Aug 8 We called Dr Stillman about 10 oclock as
Aug 9 Dr Stillman came
down again today but did not do anything for him. said
there was nothing to do except make him comfortable. He does not take only a
few spoonsful of Nurishment
once in a while.
Aug 12 Harvey has been failing since Monday but
sat up about an hour yesterday & today too but had to be bolstered up in
the chair with his chair tipped back and his feet in another chair. He wanted
to sit up each day. I thought he was some better I gave him an enema and his
bowels moved very good but was very tired afterward.
and about Six oclock I tried to give him some milk
and he swallowed several spoonfuls but got choked a little on some of the last
spoonful and that started him coughing and there seemed to be a lot of phlegm
in his throat and he could not raise it and tired to vomit but could not and
nearly fainted away or something of that kind for we could not feel his pulse
scarcely. We sent for Dr Stillman and he came down
but he seemed to be some better when he got here but we thought he was dying
and Garry was at Ralphs and he came in and he thought
he was dying but he stayed with us a little longer. but
kept failing , getting weaker every hour until he breathed his last at a
quarter of Six Saturday night Aug 13.
We tried to do our best to keep him but God knew what was best.
Aug 16. We had our dear husband & Fathers funeral today at 2 oclock and laid him away in our lot in Prospect Hill Cemetery Argyle beside Harold our dear boy who was killed by a beam falling on him in getting timber for our new Stable on the Farm. This Stable cost us the lives of our oldest living boy and was the cause by worringing and mourning the loss of Harold of Harveys Shock and eventually of his death I am Sure."
