            Sun. Jan. 1: "10º below zero   We did up the housework.  Church was at 11 o'clock. Robert Mahaffy preached.  We did not go.  We had chicken for dinner. At nite the boys did chores, we had supper.  Johnny took Helen home around 7:30.  Nice day but quite cold.

            Mon. Jan. 2: "We did up the housework.  Busy washed out a few things by hand.  Isowed on Florences red skirt.  Florence, Busy and Ipicked over some beans towards nite. The boys went to the lower place and cut wood in the forenoon.  In the afternoon they drew some manure.  The boys did chores, we had supper. All went to Argyle.  The rest went to girls B. B. practice.  Iwent to Marjorys, Mothers and Marions.  Nice day. Quite warm."

            Tues. Jan. 3: "We did up the housework.  Florence rode to school with Darflers: The boys went to the lower place and cut wood in the forenoon.  In the afternoon they drew a load of manure down to the lower place and brought up a load of wood. also cut some more wood in the afternoon, down by creek across from woods.  Isowed some on Florences red skirt.  Florence rode home with McKernons.  The boys did chores, we had supper. Johnny went to basketball practice.  Liddles came up at nite. Icut their hair all of them except Marion.  Very warm today."

            Wed. Jan. 4: "We did up the housework.  Johnny took Florence to school.  Busy and I cut up the beef Laurence sent up Monday nite.  Ibaked some. Busy moped the kitchen floor. The boys cut wood down by the creek across from the woods.  In the afternoon they drew a load of manure up on the hill. We did not do much in afternoon.  The boys went down after Florence after school and she had gone down to Marjorys. After they got home they did chores,  We had supper and around 6:30 the boys both went away.  Johnny was going to Fort Edward to play basketball but they did not go. So the boys went to Greenwich to a show. Warm and cloudy today."

            Thurs. Jan. 5: "We did up the housework.  Jimmy and Busy took Florence to school  They took Mother up to the bank. Marjory and children came home with them.  Imade custard for ice cream also chocolate sauce and cake.  Jimmy froze the ice cream.  Johnny rode King up to Morgans to get his hair cut.  Morgan Boyd and another man came this forenoon and put in our new dial telephone.  In the afternoon Johnny and Jimmy fixed up the end of the porch out by the wood shed.  Busy went down after Florence and took Marjory and children home.  Helen came up with Florence and Busy and stayed all nite. The boys did chores, we had supper. Johnny went down after Helen and went to Fort Ann to play basketball.  Good day, kinda cold."

            Fri. Jan. 6: "We did up the housework.  Jimmy took Helen and Florence to school.  We took down the Christmas tree.  Shook it off and I sorted over the green needles for a pillow.  Busy swept and moped in sitting room.  The boys cut wood down on the side hill across the woods.  In the afternoon they cut some more and drew out a load of manure. Around 2 o'clock Busy and I went to Argyle.  I went to the bank.  Florence, Teresa and Busy went to South Argyle for a spring for the started on the nash. Then we came home. Johnny put the spring for the starter on.  The boys did chores. We three had supper. Jimmy and Johnny went to West Hebron Grange hall to a N. E. M. P. A. Milk meeting and oyster supper. Good day, sunshone, quite warm."

            Sat. Jan. 7: "We did up the housework and baking and moping. The boys went to John Liddles and cut wood in the forenoon. Came up and did their noon chores around 1:30.  We got a new tire in the mail, the boys put it on. It got awful dark and thundered, rained awful hard for a few minutes. Then the sunshone again. The boys went back down to Johns.  In the afternoon Ifixed Florences blue skirt she tore at school.  We cracked some walnuts. The boys did chores, we had supper. And all stayed home at nite. Kinda cold at nite. Marion called up around 9 o'clock and said Jennie came over to Mothers tonite with Harold Yarter. Florence did not feel very well today."

            Sun. Jan. 8: "Did up the housework.  We fixed ice cream.  Johnny got the ice and Jimmy froze the ice cream.  No church today. Around 11 o'clock Marjory, Laurence and children came up.  We had dinner around 1 o'clock.  Sunshone in the forenoon, but awful cloudy all afternoon.  Johnny went away after the boys did their noon chores. Jimmy and Laurence went over to Mud Lake. When they got back around 3:30 Marjory, Laurence and children went to Argyle.  Florence, Busy and Irode down with them to see Aunt Jen.  We went to Mothers and Marions.  Jen. went down to Marjorys a few minutes.  Johnny came to Argyle at nite and went to C. E.  Then we three came home with him.  Jimmy did the milking and other nite chores."

            Mon. Jan. 9: "We did up the housework.  Jimmy took Florence to school.  We did not wash as it started snowing around 8 o'clock and snowed all day. In the forenoon Busy baked some and Imended some.  The boys chored around all day. Florence stayed to Marions after school.  We all went down at nite.  Iwent to Marions and Mothers.  Helen, Eddie, Ruth went to basketball practice with the girls and Johnny.  Florence stayed to Marions all nite.  Still snowing a little when we came home. About 6 inches of snow.  Jennie rode out with Harold Yarter this morning to go back to Albany."

            Tues. Jan. 10: "We did up the housework.  We did the washing.  Then Busy moped the kitchen floor. The boys cut some wood down on the other house hill in the forenoon and Johnny drew a load of manure down to the lower place and brought back a load of wood.  In the afternoon we did the ironing.  The clothes all got dry.  We brought them all in the house.  In the afternoon Jimmy cut wood down along the road to the lower place and Johnny took a grist to Argyle and brought Florence from school.  The boys did chores, we had supper.  Johnny went to Hudson Falls and played basketball. Nice nite."

            Wed. Jan. 11: "We did up the housework.  And then separated this mornings milk.  Jimmy took Florence to school and on his way home stopped at the lower place and cut some wood along the road.  Johnny took a load of manure down to the lower place brought back a load of wood.  In the forenoon Ibaked some.  In the afternoon and at nite Isowed some on Florences red skirt.  Around 3 o'clock Johnny and Busy went to Argyle after Florence.  Johnny marked off the hall for basketball.  Got home around 5.  The boys did chores. we had supper.  Johnny went away.  Kinda warm and wind blows, thawing all day. Rained hard at nite. In the afternoon Jimmy cut wood down on the other house hill."

            Thurs. Jan. 12: "We did up the housework.  Jimmy took Florence to school, came up to the lower place and cut wood along the road.  Johnny walked down to Liddles to get some tools to put on Kings new shoes.  They came up for dinner. In the forenoon Busy did the baking. Isowed on Florences red skirt and finished it, pressed it.  We made some sandwiches. The boys cut wood down on the other house hill in the afternoon. Wind blows cold. The boys did chores, we had supper.   Florence stayed to Marjorys after school.  We all went to Argyle.  Went down to Marjorys after Florence and stayed awhile.  Iwent to Mothers a few minutes.  Then went to Marions and stayed with the children while Marion, Ed, Johnny, Jimmy, Florence and Busy went to a dance in grange hall given by B. B. Teams. Florence stayed to Marjorys all nite."

            Fri. Jan. 13: "We did up the housework.  In the forenoon Ichurned.  Busy baked some. The boys cut wood down on the other house hill. Johnny finished shoeing King. In the afternoon Jimmy took me over to W. Hebron Church to Charley Barkleys funeral.  Lot their.  Then Jimmy went to Argyle after Florence.  Busy swept some in the afternoon.  Imade a cake.  The boys did chores.  We had supper. All stayed home at nite. Quite cold."

            Sat. Jan. 14: "Did up the housework.  In the forenoon the boys cut wood down on the other house hill.  Imade pies and cookies.  Florence made cake.  Busy moped the kitchen floor.  In the afternoon Florence, Busy and I cracked and picked over walnuts. We fixed ice cream.  Busy and Florence got the ice.  We three froze the ice cream.  Jimmy cut wood down to the lower place along the road in the afternoon.  Johnny took a load of manure down to the lower place and brought up a load of wood.  The boys did chores, we had supper.  And all went to Argyle.  The girls stopped to the hall. Johnny went down after Helen. Istayed to Marjorys while he was gone. Then Iwent up to the hall with them. The town team played Smith-Basin.  The girls were to play Glens Falls but they did not come we went down with Johnny to take Helen home. Good day."

            Sun. Jan. 15: "Did up the housework.  All went to church at 11 o'clock.  Mr. King preached.  Marion went too.  We did not stay for Sabbath School.  Grandma came up with us for dinner.  Also Marjory, Laurence and children came up for dinner. In the afternoon Mother popped some popcorn.  The boys went over to Mud Lake. Marjory, Laurence and children went home around 4 o'clock.  Johnny washed the car. The boys did chores, we had supper.  And all went to Argyle.  Took Grandma home.  The rest went to C. E. stopped and took Helen. I went to Grandmas and Marions.  Good day.  Quite warm."

            Mon. Jan. 16: "Did up housework.  Jimmy took Florence to school.  And cut wood along the road down to the other place until noon.  In the forenoon Iwashed out some clothes, Busy hung them up.  Johnny took a load of manure down to the lower place and brought up a load of wood in the forenoon.  After dinner the boys did up their chores. Jimmy, Busy and Iwent to Glens Falls.  Busy got a new coat. Jimmy went to the garage to see about a car.  We stopped at Marions and brought Florence home.  Got home around 6 o'clock.  In the afternoon Johnny drove King down to Robert Dennings to have him look at his teeth and he filed them.  At nite Johnny, Florence and Busy went to Argyle to Girls Basketball practice.  Good day. clothes all got dry.  Florence stayed to Marions all nite."

            Tues. Jan. 17: "Did up the housework.  Jimmy went to the lower place and cut wood along the road.  Johnny worked on the car about all forenoon.  We did the ironing.  Icleaned out the meat barrell. Busy and Iwent to Salem on business in the afternoon.  The boys went to the lower place after a load of straw.  They did the chores. We had supper. And all went to Argyle.  Florence stayed to Marjorys after school.  Johnny went to the hall and played basketball. Hudson Falls came over.  Jimmy, Florence and Busy went to the hall too. Iwent to Marions as Helen is sick.  The Doctor is afraid she had got scarlet fever.  Iwent to Mothers and waited until they came from the hall.  we went down to Marjorys awhile. Roads quite muddy.  Warm and cloudy today."
            Wed. Jan. 18: "Did up the housework.  Jimmy took
Florence to school.  And chopped wood down to the lower place along the road until noon.  Johnny put in some window lights in the cow stable.  Ibaked some.  Busy moped in the kitchen.  In the afternoon Johnny took a load of manure down to the lower and brought back a load of wood.  Marion called up this forenoon and said Dr. Stillman said Helen has got scarlet fever.  Jimmy went to Glens Falls in the afternoon and brought Florence from school, she was at Grandmas.  They got home around 6 o'clock.  We mended some in the afternoon.  The boys did chores, we had supper.  Johnny went away at nite.  Good day. Kinda cool as wind blows."

            Thurs. Jan. 19: "Raining when we got up, everything is covered with ice. Jimmy took Florence to school.  And brought home the grocerys from Saffords.  We did up the housework.  Imade 2 cakes before breakfast.  In the afternoon the boys did chores and sorted some potatoes.  We mended some.  The sunshone in the afternoon and took the ice.  Johnny and Jimmy went to Argyle after Florence.  Came home and did chores.  We had supper. And all stayed home at nite.  Warm at nite. Awful foggy."

            Fri. Jan. 20: "Did up the housework.  Florence rode to school with Darflers. In the forenoon Ibaked some, made doughnuts.  Busy swept some. Jimmy went to Fort Edward with some potatoes.  Took them to Grand Union and traded them in. Got home around 3 o'clock.  Brought Florence and Teressa from school.  Johnny took a load of manure down to the lower and brought home a load of wood in the forenoon.  We had supper around 4:30.  The boys milked.  We all went to Argyle.  Iwent to Marjorys.  Jimmy went out to the show.  Johnny, Florence and Busy went to the hall and played basketball.  The Town Team (won) played the Greenwich Post Graduates.  The girls and High School boys played Schuylerville.  Both teams lost.  Good day."

            Sat. Jan. 21: "Did up the housework, baking and moping.  Separated mornings milk.  The boys cut wood to the lower place this forenoon.  In the afternoon Jimmy cut wood and Johnny drew down a load of manure and they both came home with a load of wood.  The boys did chores, we had supper.  Johnny went away.  Good day.  Helen is feeling better today.  But Marion thinks Raymond is taking Scarlet fever today.  Helen set up some."

            Sun. Jan. 22: "We did up the housework.  Got ice cream fixed.  The boys froze it. Church was at 11.  Communion Mr. King preached but we did not go.  We stayed home all day. The boys did chores. Helen is up around some today.  She called up this afternoon.  Raymond doesn't feel as good today as he did yesterday.  He has got scarlet fever.  It rained about all day.  Not very cold.  We all stayed home at nite except Jimmy, Florence and Busy went down to the school house to find Teddy.  They did not find him but he came home before we went to bed."

            Mon. Jan. 23: "Did up the housework. We did not wash as it looked kinda rainy. But turned out to be a good day after all.  Johnny took Florence down to school to try her algebra Examination. He stayed down and brought her home at noon.  Jimmy drove King down to the lower place and cut wood in the forenoon.  In the afternoon the boys both went to the lower place and cut wood.  In the forenoon Imended Johnnys Jacket and Busy baked some.  In the afternoon Florence and Ichurned.  We made bread and buns today. The boys did chores and we had supper. The boys, Florence and Busy went to Argyle to girls B. B. practice.  Helen and Ray both feel better."

            Tues. Jan. 24: "We Did up the housework.  We started washing but the cylinder broke so we washed the last two washers out by hand.  Then Johnny, Florence and Ifixed it after we got thru washing.  Busy moped the floor.  Johnny took a load of manure down to the lower place and brought back a load of wood in the morning.  Jimmy took a load of potatoes to Hudson Falls in the Nash in the forenoon but sorted them first.  In the afternoon we did the ironing.  Jimmy sorted some potatoes.  Johnny worked on the wash machine out on the steps, getting ready to put in new Greece.  Good day clothes all got dry.  Imade cupcakes for supper. We all stayed home at nite."

            Wed. Jan. 25: "6º above zero   Did up the housework.  The boys went to the lower place and cut wood in the forenoon. Also went back down to the lower in the afternoon and cut some more.  Johnny killed a rooster in the morning and Ipicked it and cut it up. We had it for dinner. Busy made some pies.  In the afternoon Imended Jimmy heavy socks.  Good day.  Johnny went away at nite. Icut Jimmys hair."

            Thurs. Jan. 26: (Florence's handwriting) "Ground has been all bare for a week or more.  We did up the housework.  In the forenoon Johnny took a load of manure down to the lower place and brought back a load of wood.  Jimmy went down to the lower place and chopped wood.  After he had chopped a while he hit his knee with the sledge and wasn't able to chop much more.  The boys put the day wood that they had split in the barn.  They came for dinner a little before noon.  In the afternoon Johnny went down to Greenwich after Helen C. to come up and go to the dance.  Jimmy just set around until Johnny got back.  In afternoon Harley Warren came after some potatoes. Busy, Jimmy & Florence sorted 15 more bushel to go tomorrow.  At night we all went down to Argyle to a dance in Town Hall given by Basketball Teams.  Ruth was taken sick with scarlet fever today."

            Fri. Jan. 27: "We did up the housework.  Florence rode down to school with Darfler's in the morning to try Civics.  In the forenoon Laurence, Marjory and the kids came up.  They stopped to Joe Randles' to start the fire and get the water hot to scald the pigs.  Then they came on up here.  Laurence helped the boys kill the pigs.  They took them down to Joe Randles' in the back of Jimmie's car to scald & dress them.  They came back up here for dinner. In the afternoon the boys & Laurence finished dressing the pigs.  After the boys did the chores they went down to L. Johnson's to look at a team.  Laurence went to Argyle and Marjory & kids stayed and rode down with Johnny & Helen at night.  Johnny intended to go to Greenwich to play ball but got word before he started that the game had been cancelled.  Ruth is quite sick. She doesn't seem to break out very good."

            Sat. Jan. 28: (Busy's handwriting) "Did up the housework.  In the forenoon Florence made cake. We worked on the sewing machine.  The boys went over to L. Johnsons to look at the team.  In the afternoon I made pies. The girls swept and moped the kitchen floor.  The boys and Icut up a half of one of the pigs.  The boys did chores.  We had supper. All went to Argyle.  Iwent to Mothers and to Marions a while and talked to her thru the window.  Ruth isn't feeling very well yet.  Then Iwent to the hall. Jimmy went to the show the rest of us was to the hall.  The girls played the South Glens Falls and lost 14-0.  The high school boys also played South Glens Falls.  We had to wait a little while for Jimmy.  The wind blew hard all day.  Snowed a little."

            Sun. Jan. 29: "Did up the housework.  And all went to church. Had six preachers today. This is young peoples day.  Florence stayed for Sabbath School.  The rest of us went to Marjorys.  Then up to Mothers and we went over to Marions and saw them all thru the window.  Ruth is in bed but feels some better.  We came home and had dinner. The boys did chores in the afternoon.  It snowed a little in the morning.  And before we got home from church it snowed hard and snowed hard all afternoon.  The boys did chores at nite, we had snow cream for supper. All stayed home at night. Still snowing.  It is about six inches deep, very light."

            Mon. Jan. 30: "Did up the housework.  Jimmy took Florence to school and took some potatoes to Hudson Falls.  He got home around 1 o'clock.  In the forenoon we washed out a few clothes by hand.  They all got dry. Busy ironed them in the afternoon.  Johnny took the engine apart in the forenoon.  In the afternoon we cut up three half of pigs. And all the heads.  Ifixed up the heads. Johnny put the engine together and started it.  The boys did chores.  We had supper. And all went to Argyle.  Iwent to Marjorys and stayed while the rest went to girls basketball practice.  Florence stayed to Marjorys after school.  But came home with us at nite.  Good day.  Nice night. Moonshone quite bright.  Ruth feels better. But Eddie is taking scarlet fever now.  Isn't in bed but is breaking out some."

            Tues. Jan. 31: "Florence rode to school with Darflers.  Did up the housework.  Jimmy took King and went away in the A.M.  Johnny, Busy and Icut up the pork for sausage and the fat and tried it out for lard.  In the afternoon the boys went to Argyle after Florence and Teressa.  They took the part for the engine and got it fixed.  And took the sausage down and J. Mairs ground it.  In the P.M. we ground up a little sausage we did not send to Argyle.  Iscauled out the pork barrell.  The boys did chores.  We had supper.  Johnny went to basketball practice and Jimmy went to the show.  Good day.  Quite warm.  At nite we mixed up the sausage and put it in cloth bags.  Left some to put in tin cans tomorrow.  There was sixty-five pounds of sausage. Ruth is better. Eddie is in bed today some.  Kinda sick. 1  2-gallon 3  1-gallon jars  lard."

            Wed. Feb. 1: "Did up the housework. Florence rode to school with Darflers.  We put the rest of the sausage in tin cans. Their was just 8 cans full.  Iput it in the oven. Iwashed out a few clothes and pieled the potatoes also made a cake and Busy swept and moped the kitchen floor.  The boys sorted potatoes.  We had dinner. The boys did there noon chores.  They caught some hens. and then they went to Glens Falls.  They took 17 hens and some potatoes out.  And brought Florence and Teresa from school.  They did chores. We had supper.  Johnny went away at nite.  In the afternoon Icut up and ground up the head and made head cheese very warm today. Rained at nite. Jimmy sorted some potatoes at nite. Ruth is feeling pretty good. Eddie isn't very sick."

            Thurs. Feb. 2: "Did up the housework.  In the forenoon Jimmy drove King down to Johnsons.  Iwent and layed down after breakfast.  Got up around noon.  My arms, hands and knees are pretty lame and sore. Busy baked some. Mr. Johnson came up awhile after dinner to talk about the team but we didn't make any deal.  The boys did chores and went to Argyle after Florence and Teressa.  They went down by Pratts to look at a horse before they got the girls.  Imade some cupcakes.  The boys did chores, we had supper. And all stayed home at nite. Warm today and cloudy. Rained last nite and took most of the snow last nite quite muddy today. Eddie and Ruth are feeling better today."

            Fri. Feb. 3: "Did up the housework. Florence rode to school with Darflers.  In the forenoon Ibaked some. Busy and Ipieled and ground some apples for mincemeat.  In the forenoon the boys cut wood down on the other house hill.  After dinner they did chores.  And both went to Argyle.  Jimmy took some potatoes to the Falls.  Johnny stayed at Argyle.  They brought Florence and Teresa from school.  In the afternoon Busy swept some. Ipieled some more apples for mincemeat we ground them up.  Ifixed the heal on Florences good shoe.  The boys did chores, we had supper. And all went down to Willard Saffords to a birthday party for Grace Galusha.  Good nite, moon shone.  cold, the roads are froze up and awful rough.  We didn't get home from the party until about 3.  They played cards and danced."

            Sat. Feb. 4: "We did up the housework.  The boys went down on the other house hill to cut some wood and broke the axe.  So they came back to the house.  Imade some pies.  Florence made some macarrons.  In the afternoon the boys didn't do much.  Johnny put the brine on the hams, shoulders, bacon. etc.  Imade the brine in the forenoon.  Florence made a cake in the P. M. Busy swept and moped the kitchen floor.  Will. Kilmer came up to see about the insurance on the buildings as the policy expires February 6.  Cloudy all day.  Started snowing around 4 o'clock.  Awful fine.  Icooked the mincemeat today.  The boys did chores.  We had supper. And all started for Argyle around 6:30.  Iwent to Mothers and later in the evening Laurence came and took me down to their house.  The boys, Florence and Busy and the rest of the girls went to Cambridge and played ball. Cambridge won 32-11.  They got back to Marjorys after 12.  Snowed very fine."

            Sun. Feb. 5: "Did up the housework.  And all went to church.  Florence stayed for Sabbath School.  Busy and Iwent to the door at Marions and seen them all.  They are feeling pretty good now. Then we went over to Mothers.  The boys went up street until Sabbath School was over. Then we came home and found Marjory, Laurence and children here.  We had dinner.  Johnny went away in the afternoon. Got home around 5:30.  Marjory, Laurence, and children went home around 4 o'clock.  Laurence and Jimmy did chores in the afternoon.  Very cold and windy.  The boys did chores at nite. All stayed home at nite. Cold and windy.  Busy is kinda hoarse and has got a sore throat."

            Mon. Feb. 6: "Johnny took Florence and Teresa to school. And went down to Hank Moores to get some work done on the Nash.  He got home around noon.  We did up the housework.  But did not wash.  Jimmy sorted some potatoes in the forenoon.  The boys did chores after dinner. And went down to Pratts to see a horse.  Jimmy thawed out the pump out by the barn. In the afternoon Imade some pillow covers and chair back pads for some of Marjorys chairs.  And hemed a few towels for her too.  Florence rode home with Darflers.  The boys did chores, we had supper. The boys and Florence went down to girls B. B. practice. Busy and Istayed home. She has got a sore throat. And Ido not feel very good at nite.  Sunshone all A.M.  But cloudy in P.M.,  cold."

            Tues. Feb. 7: "Did up the housework.  Florence rode to school with Darflers.  The boys chored around in the forenoon . We had dinner and Jimmy took me to Argyle.  Iwent to the bank on business. Then went down to Mothers, Jimmy took potatoes to Glens Falls.  When he got back we went down to Marjorys awhile.  Brought Florence home from school.  Jimmy put a new handle in the axe he got to the Falls. Laurence came up after Olivers Bed in his ford truck.  The boys did chores, we had supper.  Johnny went away at nite. Busys throat is quite sore.  Cloudy and started raining at nite.  Rained most all nite."

            Wed. Feb. 8: "Did up the housework.  Jimmy took Florence to school.  Busy went down too, and went to the Doctors as her throat is still sore.  They got home around 10 o'clock.  Ifixed the ice cream.  Johnny got ice and the boys froze the ice cream.  Then the boys sorted some potatoes.  We had dinner. The boys did chores and chopped some wood down on the other house hill.  Until it began raining around 4 o'clock.  Very dark and cloudy.  The rain changed to snow before long. Ifixed Florences striped gloves and a few other things.  Florence stayed down to Marjorys after school.  The boys did chores, we had supper.  Then Johnny and Jimmy went to Argyle.  Johnny went to Dorothy Todds to a C. E. play practice.  Jimmy took the Liddles & L. Scally, Teresa and Florence to a 4H meeting.  Car stopped, they did not get there.  Florence stayed to Marjorys all nite.  Snowed and blowed at nite."

            Thurs. Feb. 9: "12º below zero   Did up the housework.  Ibaked some  We were eating dinner and Ralph McGeoch came and wanted one of the boys to go with the car and take him around as his car broke down by Crosiers hill.  Jimmy went and took the Nash and took Ralph around.  He brought Florence from school.  Johnny did chores in the afternoon. I mended some. The boys did chores, we had supper.  It is very cold, wind blows terrible hard at nite and has all day.  Jimmy found some drifts but not many from here to Argyle.  Johnny and Jimmy went to a dance in the grange hall given by the cantor club.  Isowed up cloth for a comfortable at nite. Busy and Florence were going to the dance with the boys.  But Busys legs were broke out with red spots and her knees were swellin up.  So they did not go."

            Fri. Feb. 10: "16º below zero   Did up the housework.  Jimmy took Florence to school.  Jimmy cut some wood down on the other house hill this forenoon.  Ibaked some. We had dinner, the boys did chores. We all went to Argyle.  Busy and Iwent to Dr. Stillmans as her hands and wrists were all swellon up and knees and those red spots were still on her legs.  He gave her some medicine and some salve to rub on and said it was the poisoning from her throat.  We went to Marjorys awhile.  Then Florence and Iwent to Marions and saw them all.  And Marion has got scarlet fever. Busy went to grandmas so we went over awhile.  Marion has had a sore throat yesterday and is breaking out today. She is up around and feels pretty good.  We started home and forgot Teresa and went back after her.  The boys did chores, we had supper.  And all stayed home at nite. cold."

            Sat. Feb. 11: "2º below zero   Did up the housework.  Imade pies and Florence made a sponge cake.  The boys drew up some wood from the side hill by the creek down towards West Hebron in the forenoon.  In the afternoon Jimmy drew out a load of manure up on the hill.  The girls moped the floor and Imade me a slip.  The boys did chores, we had supper. We had snow cream for dinner and supper too.  As when we got up this morning their was a lot of snow.  And it snowed some about all forenoon.  The snow is about a foot deep.  Marion isn't very sick, she feels about the same.  The boys did chores, we had supper. Then Johnny and Jimmy went to Argyle. Johnny played basketball. The wind blew quite a bit at nite, but did not drift much."

            Sun. Feb. 12: "2 below zero  We did up the housework.  Johnny and Jimmy got ready to go to church. But could not start the car until they were going to be so late so they did not go.  Florence made some candy.  We had dinner around 1 o'clock.  Johnny went away after dinner as the boys did chores before dinner. He got home around 5:30.  Icalled Dr. Stillman and he came up in the afternoon to see Busy. As her ankles and left leg is swellen awful.  He gave her some medicine to take and some salve for the spots.  She has been sitting around all day.  At nite the boys did chores, we had supper. And all stayed home at nite. Quite cold at nite. But sunshone most all day.  Marion is feeling pretty good today."

            Mon. Feb. 13: "2º above zero   Did up the housework.  Jimmy and Johnny helped Florence and Ido a big washing.  We were thru around 11.  In the afternoon the boys went down to Pratts to see about a horse.  Florence and Itook down the clothes.  Florence and Busy ironed some.  Imade a cake and mended some. We brought the clothes all in.  It has been a good day, sunshone quite warm, but is kinda cold.  The boys did chores, we had supper.  Viola, Terry and Laurence came up awhile before supper and stay a few minutes.  Johnny, Jimmy and Florence went to Argyle to girls Basketball practice.  Busy and I stayed home. She is some better."

            Tues. Feb. 14: "Did up the housework.  Florence rode to school with Darflers.  Around 10:30 Mrs. McWhorter called up and said Marjory had a baby boy born this morning around 9 o'clock.  Busy did the rest of the ironing in the forenoon and Ibaked some. The boys went over on Mud lake and scraped off some snow off the ice.  After dinner Jimmy drove Molly down to Newcomb Pratts and traded her for a new horse to drove with King.  It is black and its name is Dandy.  He got home with the new horse around 5:30.  Johnny did chores after dinner than he and I went to Argyle.  Iwent and seen Marjory and the baby.  Phoebe Kilmer is taking care if them.  We brought Florence from school.  The boys did chores, we had supper. Johnny went to B. B. Practice. Jimmy went to the show.  warm, cloudy, thawing."

            Wed. Feb. 15: "We did up the housework.  Johnny took Florence to school.  Hazel, George and Minnie came down in the forenoon.  Jimmy hitched the new horse up with King and drove them around some. Then he and George took a load of manure down to the lower place and brought back a load of wood.  Johnny brought Earl home with him.  After dinner the boys did chores, then Jimmy took a load of manure down to the lower place and brought back a load of wood.  Hazel, George and Minnie went around 2 o'clock.  They went to Marjorys, Mothers and saw Marion and children.  Jimmy went down after Florence from school.  Johnny chored around.  Imade a cake. Earl wanted to stay up so he stayed all nite. The boys did chores, we had supper.  Johnny went to the church to a social and play practice nice day, sunshone. Windy."

            Thurs. Feb. 16: "We did up the housework.  Johnny and Busy took Florence to school and went down to Marjorys.  The baby's name is Roland Harvey and weighs 7 pounds.  They brought Lois up here. Jimmy drew a load of manure down to the lower place and brought back a load of wood.  Then he and Johnny went over to Mud Lake and sawed some ice and brought home a load.  We had dinner. Iput Lois to sleep.  Then Imade a sponge cake. Made a small one for Mother as this is her birthday.  The boys did chores and both went over to the lake and sawed 2 loads of ice and brought home a load.  Then Johnny and Busy took Lois and Earl home and brought Florence from school while Jimmy went back after another load of ice. They did chores, we had supper and all stayed at nite.  Good day, sunshone sleighing is going.  Eddie doesn't feel very well today. Iam very lame."

            Fri. Feb. 17: "We did up the housework.  Johnny took Florence to school.  Jimmy went over to the lake and sawed out a load of ice and brought it home. Then he and Johnny went back and saw another load and brought it home. Imade ginger snaps and pies. Busy made cake. We had dinner. The boys did chores then both went over to the lake and sawed out 2 loads of ice and brought home a load.  Johnny went to Argyle after Florence and Teresa while Jimmy went back after the other load of ice. Busy swept some in the afternoon and I mended the boys socks.  Iam kinda lame today.  My arms, shoulders are some lame too.  The boys did chores, we had supper.  Johnny and Jimmy went away.  Good day.  Sunshone, sleighing is getting bad someplaces but they draw ice on slay.  Eddie isn't feeling very well again today."
            Sat. Feb. 18: "Jimmy did not bring Johnny home last nite so Florence helped him milk this morning. Busy made bread.  We did up the housework.  Imade pies. And custard for ice cream.  Florence and Busy froze the ice cream.  Imade some chocolate sauce.  Jimmy sawed and brought 2 loads of ice home in the forenoon.  Johnny got home about noon, rode up with S. Randles and walked the rest of the way.  He stayed to Weirs last nite. We had dinner. In the afternoon Imade a cake. Busy moped the kitchen floor. The boys chored around in the afternoon, covered the ice with sawdust.  A man came form Valley Falls to look at the potatoes. He bought a load and is coming Tuesday after 120 bushel.  The boys did chores. We had supper. Istayed home but the rest went to Argyle.  The girls played Hoosick Falls and lost. The town boys won, played S. Glens Falls. Good day. Sunshone. Snow is going."

            Sun. Feb. 19: "We did up the housework.  And all went to Argyle.  Iwent to Marjorys while the rest went to church. Then we brought Earl and Lois home with us.  We stopped at Grandmas and Marions a short time before we came home.  We had dinner. The boys did chores.  Iput Lois to sleep in the afternoon.  Jimmy went over to Mud Lake after his saw and axe, he drove Dandy on the carriage when he got back he gave Earl, Florence and Busy a ride.  The boys did chores. We all went to Argyle. Iwent to Marjorys with the children and put them to bed while the rest went to C. E. Good day in the forenoon but kinda cloudy in the afternoon."

            Mon. Feb. 20: "We did up the housework. Jimmy took potatoes to Fort Edward and took Florence and Teresa to school.  He had to get bags and string for the potatoes. Johnny sorted potatoes while he was gone.  After he got home they both sorted potatoes until noon.  We had dinner. The boys did chores. Then sorted potatoes in the afternoon. I made a cake. Then Imade myself an apron. The boys did chores, We had supper.  Florence stayed to Marjorys after school.  The boys and Busy went to Argyle to girls basketball practice went down after Florence and took her back down to stay all nite. Johnny went to Todds to play practice.  Istayed home as Iam very lame have the Rheumatism very bad.  Rained most all day.  Foggy at nite."

            Tues. Feb. 21: "We did up the housework. We boiled the clothes off Busys bed and washed out a few other things.  The wind blew terrible hard and once in awhile it would snow.  Several little squalls. Jimmy took a load of manure down to the lower place and brought home a load of wood.  Johnny sorted potatoes while he was gone. Then they both sorted and went up to Clares with the nash after the scales and weighed them and sowed them up.  We had dinner. The boys did chores. The men came after the potatoes. There were three men along. The Jimmy took a load of manure down to the lower place and brought home a load of wood.  Florence stayed down to Marjorys after school and all nite. The boys did chores. We had supper.  Johnny went to Greenwich to play B. B. They got beat 14-12.  He brought Helen home."

            Wed. Feb. 22: "We did up the housework.  Imade a cake in the forenoon. The boys both went over to the lake and sawed a load of ice, Jimmy brought it home while Johnny stayed over and sawed another load and Jimmy went back after that load and Johnny came back with him and we had dinner. In the afternoon the boys went over after another load of ice and Helen and Busy went with them.  The snow is nearly gone in the road. They had to unload some at the foot of the hill. Jimmy went over to J. Keyworths after the part of wagon in his own car. Johnny did chores. Jim got back to help milk. We had supper. Johnny took Helen home.  Florence stayed to Marjorys all nite."

            Thurs. Feb. 23: "We did up the housework.  We baked some. Laurence and Earl came up. The boys fixed the wagon to draw ice on today.  Laurence and Johnny went over to the lake in the car.  Jimmy took the team over and brought home a load of ice.  We had dinner. They got two loads in the afternoon and packed it.  Laurence went home and Earl stayed up here.  The boys did chores, we had supper. All stayed home at nite. Florence stayed down to Marjorys all nite. Good day. Sunshone, wind blew is cutting the snow.  Istill have the Rhumatism.  Marjory set up this afternoon for the first."

            Fri. Feb. 24: "We did up the housework.  The boys went over to the lake and sawed and got 2 loads of ice.  That finished them up drawing.  We had dinner. In the afternoon they packed the ice and did chores. Imade filling for pies.  Jimmy, Earl and Busy went to Argyle after Florence and Teresa.  They went to Marjorys awhile.  Earl came back with them.  Jimmy and Ifixed a new lock on the kitchen door. The boys did chores. We had supper. Good day. Warm, got colder at nite. Jimmy and Johnny went to Salem.  Johnny played basketball. The High School Team played too.  Both Argyle teams lost. Marjory was up around more today."

            Sat. Feb. 25: "Did up the housework.  Ibaked some. Florence washed out a few clothes.  The boys put some sawdust on the ice in the forenoon. Around 10:30 Jimmy went up to Gilchrists and helped them saw wood.  Johnny did chores.  And drew a load of manure down to the lower place and brought back a load of wood.  It started snowing around 3 o'clock.  It quit for awhile around 5.  Then soon started snowing again and snowed all evening and most all nite. Jimmy came home before 4.  The boys did chores.  We had supper around 5:15.  Then all went to Argyle.  Earl and Iwent to Marjorys.  The rest went to the Filling Station and then the girls went to Hoosick Falls to play ball. Jimmy drove our car and Laurence Rouse drove. The HF girls were all thru playing Got back to Argyle Nash would not run. So we drove L car home 3:30"

            Sun. Feb. 26: "The snow is a foot deep.  We did up the housework. The boys did chores. Around 11 o'clock the boys drove Laurence's car to Argyle. And fixed the Nash. Ed towed it with the town snow plow and truck.  They finialy found out what was the matter with it. The boys got home around 4 o'clock.  The snow is very light and is drifting terrible and the wind blows hard sometimes.  The boys did chores. We all stayed home at nite. Wind blows hard and is drifting the snow a lot."

            Mon. Feb. 27: "The snow is drifted alot.  The milk man drove a team. Florence did not go to school in the forenoon. But shortly after 12:30 she rode down with Darflers.  Jimmy drew a load of manure down to the lower place in the forenoon.  And in the afternoon he drew 2 loads down.  The last time Johnny went too.  And they brought a load of wood home. In the afternoon Busy and Itook down the sitting room stove pipe and cleaned it out.  Then Busy moped. Imended some. The boys did chores.  We had supper. And all stayed home at nite except Florence went to Marjorys after school and stayed all nite. Wind blew most all day. And drifted alot. The snow plow went up past around 10 o'clock. We had gone to bed. Ralph Yarter stopped to telephone.  Johnny got up."

            Tues. Feb. 28: "Did up the housework.  Around 10:30 Johnny and Jimmy took Busy down to Marjorys, she is going to stay down awhile.  In the afternoon the boys drew some manure down to the lower place. I made some pies in the forenoon.  The boys did chores, we had supper and went to Argyle . Iwent to Marjorys a few minutes then Iwent up to Mothers and stayed while Johnny went to church to play practice.  Jimmy was up street.  Florence went to Marjorys after school and stayed all nite. Wind blew all day and was cloudy.  The doctor took the quarentine off Marions house today."

            Wed. Mar. 1: "I Did up the housework. The boys chored around in the forenoon.  In the afternoon they took some potatoes to Fort Edward.  Went down to Marjorys and brought Florence home after school.  The boys did chores.  We had supper. Johnny went down to Argyle to the church to play practice. Snowed fine all day. Melted some. Wind blew.”

            Thurs. Mar. 2: “Did up the housework.  Jimmy took Florence down to school.  The boys fixed the harness and whipple trees.  They drew manure down to the lower place in the afternoon.  The boys did chores.  We had supper. Then went to Argyle.  Went to Marjorys after Florence and Busy. And we went to the town hall to a play ‘Business Picks Up’ given by South Argyle C. E.  We took Florence back down to Marjorys to stay all nite. Busy came home with us.  Cloudy most all day. Snowed some at nite. Marion and Floss went to the play. Garry kept the kids. Very windy.”

            Fri. Mar. 3: “We did up the housework.  Imade some pies and ginger snaps.  Busy washed out a few clothes.  Jimmy drew 2 loads of manure down to the lower place.  Johnny shined his shoes.  In the afternoon Ipressed Johnnys good suit.  Busy swept some, up stairs and in the other rooms. In the afternoon the boys went to Argyle after cow feed. Florence stayed to Marjorys after school.  The boys did chores. We had supper. And went to Argyle.  Iwent to Marjorys and stayed with the baby and Lois while Marjory, Earl and the rest went up to the church to a play ‘Off the Main Road’.  Johnny was in it. Orchestra played and Mrs. Black sang and spoke.  Earl came up with us and stayed all nite. We had to wait for Johnny as they had something to eat.  Snowed some today cloudy.  Floss took Helen, Eddie and Ruth to the play.”

            Sat. Mar. 4: “We did up the housework.  Florence washed out a few clothes.  Imade pies. Florence made cake. The boys went down to the lower place sawed up the big pine pole that has been there for sometime.  Sawed it into logs.  After we got the dinner dishes washed. Earl and Ilayed down awhile.  Busy moped the kitchen floor. Jimmy drew 2 loads of manure down to the lower place while Johnny did chores.  The boys did chores. We had supper. And all stayed home at nite. Snowed a little today.  Cloudy all day. Wind blew hard all day.”

            Sun. Mar. 5: “We did up the housework.  And all went to church.  Mr. King preached. Then we went down to Marjorys.  Earl and Istayed down.  The boys, Busy and Florence went home.  Johnny went down and brought Helen home with him.  The boys did chores and all came down at nite. Garry came down to Marjorys and Iwent up to Marions and Mothers with him.  Ihad supper at Marions and went over to Mothers later. Jimmy, Florence and Busy went down to church to some kind of pictures while Johnny took Helen home. I stayed to Mothers. Then we all came home. Wind blew terrible hard all day.”

            Mon. Mar. 6: “4º below zero   We did up the housework. Jimmy took Florence to school.  We did a very big washing.  Jimmy sorted some potatoes in the forenoon.  We had dinner. Imended quite a lot in the afternoon. Busy did the ironing.  In the afternoon the boys drew up on sleigh the wood they had cut down along the creek across from the woods.  It has been a very good day.  The clothes all got dry.  We had 3 double blankets some spreads and many other things.  The boys did chores. We had supper. And all went to Argyle.  Iwent to Marions and later over to Mothers.  The rest went down to Marjorys after Florence and went to Girls basketball practice.  Took Florence to Marjorys to stay all nite.  Then we came home. Nice nite.”

            Tues. Mar. 7: “We did up the housework.  Iwashed breakfast dishes while Busy mixed bread.  Ibaked some in the forenoon. The boys drew up the wood they cut down on the other house hill sometime ago on sleigh.  We had dinner. Jimmy drew 2 load of manure down to the lower place in the afternoon.  Johnny did chores. We mended some in the afternoon. The boys did chores. We had supper. Jimmy went away at nite. Florence went to Marjorys after school and stayed all nite. Cloudy most all day, quite warm. Lots of snow yet.  But sleighing is going fast in the roads where the scrapers came over it.”

            Wed. Mar. 8: “We did up the housework.  We did not do much in the forenoon only Iwrote a letter to Montgomery Ward and Co.  The boys didn’t do very much.  Johnny brought over some beans off the barn floor. We had dinner. The boys finished packing the ice and put more sawdust on it in the afternoon. The boys did chores. We had supper. And all stayed home at nite. Florence went to Marjorys after school and stayed all nite. It rained nearly all forenoon. Snowed some around 3.  Then rained a little more. Cloudy at nite but not raining or snowing.”

            Thurs. Mar. 9: “6º above zero.  Did up the housework.  Jimmy drove the team on wagon down to Argyle after a load of sawdust. Johnny and Busy went down in the car. Busy went to the school house to get her hair curled.  Johnny helped Jimmy get the sawdust. They all got home around 3 o’clock.  The boys did chores. Ibaked some today.  We washed the dishes.  The boys did chores.  We had supper. And all went to Argyle. Went down after Florence at Marjorys. And all went to the Town hall to a  dance given by the girls B. B. Team.  A lot there. Florence Safford and Isold the Soft Drinks and hot dogs.  We took Florence down to Marjorys to stay all nite. Wind blew terrible hard all day. Quite cold.  Clean and M. L. at nite.”

            Fri. Mar. 10: “zero   Did up the housework.  I baked some in the forenoon. The boys put the sawdust on the ice in the forenoon. Then sorted some potatoes.  We had dinner. The boys took some potatoes to Fort Edward. They brought Florence and Teresa from school. They also brought Eddie home with them to stay. Imended some in the afternoon. Busy swept some.  The boys did the chores.  We had supper. And all stayed home at nite. Wind blew terrible hard all day.  And is getting colder towards nite. The man from Valley Falls came along this afternoon and bought a load of potatoes and is coming to get them next week Wednesday.”

            Sat. Mar. 11: “6º below zero   Did up the housework.  Icooked custard for ice cream.  and made chocolate sauce.  Florence washed out a few clothes, Busy made cake.  Isent an order to Montgomery and Ward for somethings.  The boys sorted a few potatoes in the forenoon and fooled with Eddie and froze the ice cream.  We had dinner. Imended some in the afternoon. Busy moped in the kitchen. The boys sorted potatoes in the afternoon. The boys did chores, We had supper.  And all stayed home at nite. Wind blew hard all day. Nice moonlight but cold at Nite.”

            Sun. Mar. 12: “We did up the housework.  We did not go to church.  Around 10:30 Hazel, George and Minnie came down.  Johnny went away.   We had dinner around 1 o’clock.  Jimmy gave Minnie, Eddie and Florence each a ride on Dandy’s back.  Hazel, George and Minnie went home around 3:30.  Then Jimmy hitched up Dandy and King and gave Eddie, Florence and Busy a ride.  Then Jimmy did some chores.  Busy helped Jimmy milk.  We had supper. Johnny came home around 10 o’clock.  Good day, kinda cold. Wind blew some.”

            Mon. Mar. 13: “Florence and Eddie rode to school with Darflers.  We did up the housework.  Busy and I washed out a few clothes by hand.  Ibaked some pies and cookies. The boys sorted some potatoes in the forenoon.  We had dinner. Busy mixed bread in the morning and Iput it in the tins after dinner. I mended a little in the afternoon .The boys sorted some more potatoes in the afternoon Then we tried to put a 300 piece Jig Saw puzzle together.  The boys did chores. we had supper. And all went to Argyle.  Istayed at Marjorys while the rest went up to the hall to Girls Basketball practice.  Florence stayed at Marjorys all nite. Cloudy all day. Wind blew some.”

            Tues. Mar. 14: “We did up the housework.  We worked on the puzzle some off and on all day.  We got ice cream ready and the boys froze it.  The boys sorted potatoes. We had dinner. The boys did some chores then Jimmy took some potatoes to Glens Falls, Johnny went to Argyle with him.  We worked some on the puzzle and Busy ironed out her red cloth for a skirt.  Florence went to Marjorys after school and stayed all nite. The boys got home around 5:30.  They did chores, we had supper. It rained all forenoon. Cloudy in the afternoon.  Johnny and Iset up until nearly 12 and put the Jig Saw puzzle all together.”

            Wed. Mar. 15: “We did up the housework.  In the forenoon Istarted sewing on Busy Red Skirt and sowed nearly all day on it and some at nite. Busy made a cake. The boys sorted some potatoes in the forenoon.  Finished the load. Jimmy took a load of manure down to the lower place in the afternoon. The boys were milking when the men came for the load of potatoes.  They were here awhile.  After they went the boys finished milking. We had supper. Johnny went away.  Florence went to Marjorys after school and stayed all nite. It rained and snowed all forenoon and till about 2 o’clock.  Cloudy in the afternoon. cleared toward nite and colder.”

            Thurs. Mar. 16: “Isowed on Busys red skirt all forenoon. Busy made pies and did up the housework.  Jimmy drew 4 loads of manure to the lower place on sleighs.  Johnny did chores. After dinner we all went to Argyle.   Johnny stayed at Argyle.  Busy went to Marjorys and stayed with Lois and Roland while Jimmy took Marjory, Marion and Iup to the North Argyle Church to Mrs. Esther McDougalls funeral at 2 o’clock.  When we got back to Argyle Istopped at Mothers awhile. They got Florence from school and we went to Glens Falls.  Florence got a new tan dress and Busy got a new waist.  We came home the boys did chore Ifinished Busys skirt, we had supper and all went to Argyle.  Iwent to Marions and kept the kids and Dickie Yarter.  The girls, Johnny, Jimmy, Marion, Ed, Lill and Ralph all went to Grange hall to graduating class to Washington dance.  Good day also nite.”

            Fri. Mar. 17: “We did up the housework.  Washed yesterday noon, last nites and this mornings dishes.  We put a Jig-Saw Puzzle together in the forenoon.  Jimmy drew a load of manure down to lower place in the forenoon on a sleigh.  Sleighing is nearly gone in roads. In the afternoon the boys did chores, Then went to Argyle after Florence.  Earl came home with them. Busy swept some. Imade some salad dressing.  The boys did chores.  We had supper. and all stayed home at nite and went to bed quite early.  Good day, cloudy and warm.”

            Sat. Mar. 18: “We did up the housework. Florence washed out a few things. Ibaked cookies and pies and Florence made cake. Busy washed windows.  The boys did up there morning chores then went to the lower place and sawed up some wood big sticks.  When they came back they went up to Ed. Pollocks and Fosters after the calves and young heifers.  We had dinner. Busy moped. Florence ironed. Imade frosting for cake and sowed Florences good coat. The boys sorted potatoes in the afternoon. The boys did chores. We had supper. and all went to Argyle Johnny left Me at Mothers. The girls got out at the hall and he took Earl home and went down after Helen.  They came after me later. The Girls played the Greenwich Independents and won 28-20.  The married men placed the single. Single won 30-19. Last games of season. They danced afterwards.  We took Helen home. Cloudy not very cold all day.”

            Sun. Mar. 19: “We did up the housework.  And all went to church. Did not stay for Sabbath School.  We came up street and Iwent to Mothers awhile and Ruthie came home with us.  We had dinner. The boys did there afternoon chores. It started snowing when we were coming home from church. Snowed all afternoon quite fine. Cloudy all forenoon. The boys did chores. we had supper. And all went to Argyle Left Ruth home and got Helen, she went to C. E. with the rest after they took me down to Marjorys. We left Helen out at home when we came by.  Snowing very fine.”

            Mon. Mar. 20: “We did up the housework.  Jimmy took Florence to school.  We did not wash as it rained nearly all day. Was cloudy and dark most all day.  Imended some in the forenoon and Busy made a cake.  The boys sorted potatoes. We had dinner. We mended some in the afternoon.  The boys sorted some more potatoes. They they sawed up a few long chunks out in the wagon house. They did chores, we had supper. Edwin Gilchrist came down at nite to have us sign a petition to get the new road to go from Goose Island School House over to Cliffton Days.  We did not sign it. Florence went to Marjorys after school and stayed all nite.”

            Tues. Mar. 21: “We did up the housework.  Imade pies. The boys sorted potatoes. We had dinner. The boys did there noon chores and sorted a few more potatoes.  Then took 10 bushel to Glens Falls. Rained nearly all day. Around 4 o’clock the men came after the potatoes. They weren’t supposed to come until tomorrow. They were just thru loading when the boys got home from the Falls. Florence stayed down to Marjorys all nite.  The boys and Busy took the hams, shoulders, etc. out of the brine and washed them off and hung them up. The boys took Ralph Clares scales home. They did chores, we had supper.  It rained alot today, has been cloudy. Rained hard when they were loading potatoes. Johnny went away at nite. Jimmy sorted potatoes.”

            Wed. Mar. 22: “We did up the housework.  Then did the washing.  Jimmy drew 2 loads of manure down to the lower place and brought home wood.  Johnny chored around.  We had dinner. In the afternoon the boys did chores then went over to John Fosters to fix up the saw-machine.  The engine was broke.  Ilooked over some beans and made a pie.  Busy took down the clothes and did the ironing.  The wind blew quite a bit and it snowed a few times.  But the clothes nearly all dried.  The boys did chores. We had supper. Florence stayed down to Marjorys all nite. Jimmy went away.  Howard Mahaffy and Ted Weaver came up to use telephone.”

            Thurs. Mar. 23: “We did up the housework.  The boys took the team and went over to John Fosters and got the sawing machine and came over to Frank McLenithens and sawed his wood.  Brought the machine over to Charley Fosters on their way home around 5 o’clock.  In the forenoon we measured off paper for the pantry shelves.  Busy fed the cows at noon.  In the afternoon Iwashed the good glass dishes and Busy cleaned the top 2 shelves in the cubbords.  Imade chocolate pudding and pie for supper. The boys did chores.  We had supper.  Very good day, sunshone, warm, roads awful muddy.  Florence stayed to Marjorys all nite.”

            Fri. Mar. 24: “Cold this morning. We did up the housework. The boys took the team and went up and sawed Charley Fosters wood, and brought the machine over to David Fosters at nite. It broke this forenoon so they didn’t saw any till after dinner. Got home around 5:30.  In the forenoon Iwashed the good dishes.  Busy washed the shelves etc. We had dinner, Busy fed the cows.  In the afternoon Busy cleaned the open shelves.  Iwashed more dishes.  Ipieled potatoes and made chocolate pies. Looked over the bottles of medicine. The boys did chores, we had supper.  Good day, sunshone roads muddy. The boys went away. Florence stayed down to Marjorys at nite.”

            Sat. Mar. 25: “We did up the housework.  After breakfast Jimmy went to Argyle after Florence and brought Helen home too.  We got dishes ready and the boys tapped twenty-three trees.  Imade pies and ginger snaps.  We had dinner. The girls gathered sap around 2:30. Florence washed her head. Busy moped the kitchen floor.  Imade acake.  The boys cut up some wood down by the old cow pasture.  Then they drew up 3 loads of wood from on the other house hill.  The girls gathered sap.  The boys did chores. We had supper. And all stayed home at nite. cold in the morning.  Warm during the day colder at nite. Sap run good today.”

            Sun. Mar. 26: “We did up the housework. The girls gathered sap before breakfast.  Imade pancakes. We made ice cream.  Helen and Florence cracked some walnuts.  The boys froze the ice cream.  We had dinner. The boys did chores. Then the boys and Helen gathered sap.  Iwrote a letter to Uncle Oscar Chapman as he will be 85 years old this week Friday.  The rest read or wrote.  The boys did chores and gathered sap.  We had supper. All stayed at home all day and also at nite. Cloudy most all day and freezing up again tonite. We listened on the Radio.  In the forenoon Johnny and girls built up the wall for the pan to set on to boil sap.”

            Mon. Mar. 27: “Got up early.  We did up the housework. Around 8 we started boiling sap.  Jimmy took Helen and Florence to school and also took some potatoes to Glens Falls.  Johnny and Busy sawed up some rails by hand.  They gathered sap around 11:30.  The Marjory, Laurence and 3 children came up.  Jimmy got home around noon. We had dinner. The boys and Laurence killed the big bull and cut the horns off from 3 or 4 of the young cattle. Busy and Earl gathered sap.  Then they went home around 4.  The boys sawed up some rails. Jimmy drew a load of manure to the lower place while Johnny chored around. Busy gathered sap again. The boys did chores. They took the syrup off around 7.  We had supper. Cloudy all afternoon. Warm. Nice forenoon. Florence stayed at Marjorys all nite.”

            Tues. Mar. 28: “We got up early. Got ready to boil sap but there wasn’t enough sap put in the pan last nite so it had scorched.  So we had to clean out the pan. Started boiling around 7:30.  We had breakfast. The boys went up to David Fosters and sawed wood. Brought the machine home around 6:30.  Then the boys and Busy sawed up some dry chunks the boys brought from the lower place and put them in the wagon house. Busy gathered sap in the forenoon. The boys gathered it in the afternoon.  Then Jimmy took his car and he and Johnny gathered the sap and brought up the rest.  It snowed nearly all day. Warm melted it most all. The boys did chores.  We had supper Imade cake. We canned the syrup we boiled yesterday, had 1 gal. jug and 2 quart cans. They took the syrup off around 6:30.  Florence stayed to Marjorys.”

            Wed. Mar. 29: “We got up early.  Started boiling sap. Fred Nichols came and helped the boys saw wood.  Imade pies. We had dinner at noon.  Johnny went to get someone to help saw wood. They sawed until around 4:30 then John Liddle came to help.  Busy moped the kitchen floor and I mended some. Busy gathered sap 3 times.  It run good.  The boys stopped sawing wood around 5.  They did chores. Then gathered sap and took Jimmys car and brought the sap up.  Took the syrup off around 7 o’clock.  We had supper. Good day, sunshone warm. The wind blew in the afternoon. Johnny went away at nite. Florence stayed to Marjorys all nite. This morning Icanned the syrup we boiled yesterday. 1 glass jug full and 1 quart can.”

            Thurs. Mar. 30: “We got up early. Started boiling sap.  Icanned what we boiled yesterday.  1 gal. 1, 2 qt. can, 1 qt can and 2 pt. cans.  Fred Nichols and John Liddle were here and helped the boys saw wood.  They got thru just about noon. Busy gathered sap.  We had dinner. In the afternoon the boys went to Belle McGeochs and sawed wood.  Busy gathered sap and Johnny took the can and gathered it down by the other house and brought the sap up in Jimmys car. Johnny and Bob. Star came to do chores while Jimmy took the machine down to Johns.  They were nearly thru when Jimmy got home. Took the syrup off around 7:30.  We had supper. Bob went home. We all stayed home.  Good day, very warm. Sunshone a lot.  Florence stayed to Marjorys all nite.  Ifixed Busys skirt in afternoon.”

            Fri. Mar. 31: “Got up early and started boiling sap. We did up the housework. Fred Darfler brought us 6 gal. tin cans from Salem.  So Icanned the syrup we boiled yesterday.  had 7 quarts but Ifilled 2 gal cans and took a quart of day befores.  We smoked half of the hams, etc.  Jimmy took the team to the lower place and Johnny took Jimmys car and they loaded a big log and Jimmy took it to Argyle.  Johnny came home and worked on the car. Busy gathered sap.  The teacher went down to H. Mahaffys and got stuck Johnny helped her out.  Jimmy got home around 1:30 We had dinner. The boys did chores and went to Argyle took some wood down to Mother and took a grist to get ground. Brought Florence and Teresa. Imade cupcakes in the afternoon. The boys gathered sap.  The boys did chores.  Took the syrup off and had supper. The boys went away. Cloudy all P.M. and started raining about 6.  We sugared off at nite.”

            Sat. Apr. 1: “Started boiling sap around 8.  We did up the housework.  Jimmy went to Glens Falls and traded cars.  We smoked the rest of the hams, etc. Imade some pies. then didn’t feel very good so layed down. After dinner Florence swept and Busy moped.  The boys cut down the beef and brought it over in the cellar. Johnny worked on the engine some. The boys did chores.  We had supper. Jimmy went away.  Took the syrup off around 7:30. Cloudy all day and rained some. Foggy at nite and rained hard. Icanned the syrup we boiled yesterday, this morning.  Had 1 gal can and 2 quart cans. The sap did not run today.”

            Sun. Apr. 2: “Started boiling around 8.  Did up the housework.  Icanned the syrup boiled yesterday a gal can and a quart can and a quart and half for sugar.  We did not go to church. Had dinner around 1.  The boys did chores. George came up and they took him down to the lower place to look at some hay. They went over to Liddles. Dr. Tillotson was there and said Dorothy has Diphtheria.  They came home and we sugared off.  The boys did chores. We took the syrup off around 6:30.  Cloudy all day but did not rain. The sap did not run today. We got it all boiled down except a milk can full of sap.  All stayed home at nite."

            Mon. Apr. 3: "We did up the housework.  Jimmy took Florence to school in his car. Johnny started the fire out doors and started boiling sap around 10 o'clock.  Jimmy came home from taking Florence and got the team hitched up and went to the lower place.  Johnny helped us cut up some of the beef. Then Johnny took Jimmys car and went to the lower place and helped Jimmy load a log. Jimmy took it to Argyle.  also brought home some lumber.  We cut up some more beef.  Got the roaster and big kettle full on to cook. Had dinner around 2, then Johnny gathered sap as it run some.  Johnny and Jimmy went to Argyle after Florence in Jimmy's car.  The boys did chores.  Florence and Busy gathered sap.  Ipicked the meat off the bones and we filled 7 pt. cans.  The boys did chores. We took the syrup off. Had supper. Rainy morning, but good day.  Roads muddy   Mother took some meat off bones after supper."

            Tues. Apr. 4: "We did up the housework.  The boys unloaded the lumber.  Put up stairs in the wagon house.  Johnny took Florence to school and went down to South Argyle to Hank Moores garage and had him do some work on the car. He wasn't thru working on the car at noon so Johnny waited and came to Argyle in the afternoon and brought Florence from school. They got home around 5.  We filled 9 pt. cans of cooked meat.  And put the 16 pt. cans in the boiler and cooked them for an hour.  We put the big kettle and roaster full of meat on to cook. Then we filled 16 pt cans of raw meat.  Put them on to cook after the others were done awhile. Cooked about 4 hours.  We had dinner around 1:30.  Imade a cake.  We picked more meat off the bones towards nite. The boys did chores.  We had supper. We all stayed home at nite and sugared off.  Rained in morning, snowed in forenoon quite abit.  Cloudy in P.M.  Jimmy took a load of manure down to lower place in P.M."

            Wed. Apr. 5: "Did up the housework.  Jimmy took Florence to school and came back to John Cuthberts and sawed wood.  We did the washing. Then Ibaked some pies while Busy moped the floor.  Johnny took a load of manure down to the lower place. We had dinner around 12:30.  Johnny took another load of manure to the lower place.  We took the clothes down and did the ironing they were all ironed and dried shortly after 3.  Imended some. Then Johnny and Busy gathered sap.  Johnny helped us cut up one of the hind quarts of the beef.  I picked the meat off the bones Icooked a roaster of meat this forenoon.  Jimmy went from Cuthberts down after Florence after school.  The boys did chores.  We had supper.  Johnny and Jimmy both went away.  Very good day, warm."

            Thurs. Apr. 6: "We did up the housework.  Jimmy took Florence to school.  We started boiling sap around 7 o'clock.  In the forenoon Imade pies. cakes and a batch of ginger snaps.  The boys went to the lower place and brought up a load of hay for George.  In the afternoon I frosted the cakes.  also brought home some lumber.  Johnny went after Florence from school and took one of the cakes down to Liddles.  Johnny went to the lower place and helped Jimmy load the logs and Jimmy took them to Argyle with the team.  Busy gathered sap.  We tried cans and filled 6 qts and 9 pt cans of the cooked meat. They took the syrup off around 6 o'clock.  The boys did chores. We all stayed home at nite. It started raining around 4 and rained most of the time from then on and we went to bed."

            Fri. Apr. 7: "We did up the housework. Jimmy took Florence to school and took 50 pounds of meat to Marions. Iput the syrup boiled yesterday in a gallon can. There was only 3 quarts. Finished cutting up the beef.  We put 6 qt. and 9 pt. cans in the boiler and put them on to cook.  Ifixed Jello. The boys carried some rotten apples out of the cellar and sorted some potatoes. We had dinner around 12:30.  The boys sorted over some more potatoes. We tried more cans and cut off and put in 7 pt cans raw meat.  Put them on to cook in the big kettle around 4:30.  We tried more cans. The boys went to Argyle after Florence and Teresa from school.  The boys did chores. We had supper. Johnny and Jimmy both went away.  It rained nearly all day.  Ididn't feel very well before supper.  So layed down while the rest had supper and did dishes.  Igot up after awhile and felt better before time to go to bed."

            Sat. Apr. 8: "We did up the housework.  Icleaned the brass kettle. And made the brine for the corned beef.  After we did the morning work up we filled 8 pt cans of cooked meat and 2 pt cans of broth and had 1 qt can and 4 pt cans to do over as they leaked and put them in the boiler and on the stove for to boil an hour.  Imade pies, cake and a meat pie for dinner.  We filled 5 qt. and 1 pt. can of raw meat and put them on to cook around 12:30.  And filled the roaster and put it on to cook. finishing the cooking meat.  Jimmy took 2 logs to Argyle.  Johnny helped him load them.  Johnny worked on the car.  We had dinner around 1:30.  Florence swept and Busy moped.  Busy found the first turkeys nest. We filled 7 pt. cans of cooked meat and put them on to cook around 7 o'clock while the boys were doing chores.  We had supper. Jimmy went away at nite.  Good day.  In the P.M. Johnny put the brine on meat in P.M."

            Sun. Apr. 9: "We did up the housework.  And all went to church.  Mr. King preached. Florence stayed for Sabbath School.  Jimmy, Johnny and Ihad dinner with Mother.  Florence and Busy went to Marions for dinner. The boys came home to do chores but we stayed down.  Iwas at Mothers and went over to Marions awhile, but went back over to Mothers as Marion, children, Florence and Busy went down to Lills and Marjorys.  They came up after Earl and I.  The girls was at Marions.  Around 7 Florence, Helen and Busy came down to Marjorys.  We put the children to bed. Jimmy came down in his car. Marjory went to C. E. and Istayed with the kids.  Johnny went to East Greenwich after chores were done.  We came home with Jimmy.  Good day. Froze up at nite."

            Mon. Apr. 10: "Meat all canned now and taken care of, had 10 pts and 11 qts cooked in cans and 55 pts cooked before put in cans.  Also 5 pts broth.  We did up the housework. Florence rode to school with Darflers.  Jimmy drew 2 loads of manure down to the lower place and did a little work on his car.  Johnny started the fire to boil sap around 10:30.  They gathered sap.  Iwashed out some clothes.  Then we canned 1 pt can meat and 3 pt cans of broth also had 2 pt cans to do over again so did them all in the afternoon in the big kettle.  Johnny washed the car. I mended some in the afternoon.  Johnny and Busy gathered sap again in the afternoon.  Jimmy took a load of manure down to the lower place after dinner and took a plow, and plowed some in the potatoes field.  Johnny split some wood.  And did some chores. They milked, we had supper.  Took the syrup off around 7.  Florence stayed to Marjorys all nite.  Good day, kinda cloudy sometimes."

            Tues. Apr. 11: "We did up the housework.  Icleansed the syrup we boiled yesterday there was around 3½ qts.  Boiled it down for sugar.  Jimmy took a load of manure down to the lower place and plowed.  Came home around noon.  Johnny went to Argyle around 10:30.  Got home around 3.  In the forenoon Ilooked over a lot of letters. In the afternoon Ipicked over some beans.  Busy washed some woodwork in the pantry.  Jimmy took a load of manure down to the lower place after dinner and plowed in the afternoon.  Johnny stopped down there on the way home with a new plow point.  Johnny did chores. Busy gathered the sap. Jimmy came up. We had supper and the boys milked. Florence stayed to Marjorys all nite. The boys went away at nite."

            Wed. Apr. 12: "We did up the housework.  The boys sorted potatoes in the forenoon. Busy made cakes. Ipicked over some beans.  We had dinner at noon. Then the boys took some potatoes to the Falls. Jimmy got some paint for his car. Isowed some in the afternoon.   The boys got home around 5, they did chores. We made sandwiches.  We had supper. Florence went to Marjorys after school.  It snowed all day and is still snowing at nite. We all went to Argyle . Istayed with Marions children while Marion, Ed, Johnny, Jimmy and Busy went down to Marjorys after Florence and all went to a surprize birthday party for Ethel Cornell.  They took Florence back to Marjorys to stay all nite and we started home around 3.  Had to put chains on coming home.  Still snowing.  But just a little, clearing up now.  Snow is 6 or 7 inches deep."

            Thurs. Apr. 13: "We did up the housework.  After breakfast Jimmy took his car and went down to Hank Moores to get some work done. Ipicked over some more beans.  Johnny sorted some potatoes.  We had dinner around 1.  Imade some pies in the forenoon. In the afternoon Imade filling for a pie.  Busy washed some woodwork in the pantry.  Johnny sorted more potatoes.  Imended some in the afternoon. Sunshone and it is warm today the snow is going fast.  Jimmy called around 5:30 that he had broken a axle on his car and would not be home to do chores.  Johnny did the chores Busy gathered sap and helped him milk some.  Florence stayed to Marjorys.  We were eating supper around 7:45 and Jimmy called for Johnny to come to Argyle to meet him.  So he went.  They got home shortly after 8:30."

            Fri. Apr. 14: "We did up the housework.  Imixed bread before breakfast.  Around 9 the boys both went to Argyle with the team.  Jimmy went to South Argyle to fix his car. Johnny brought home a load of lumber.  Imade cookies in the afternoon and some pies and baked the bread & biscuits.  Busy finished washing the woodwork in the pantry and the lower cupboards.  Johnny got home around 1 we had dinner. Jimmy came from S. Argyle with his car fixed around 4 and brought Florence and Teresa from school.  Earl came home with them too.  The boys did chores. The girls and Earl gathered sap. We had supper.  Johnny went away.  Good day.  The snow is nearly gone."

            Sat. Apr. 15: "We did up the housework.  Jimmy took a load of manure down to the lower place and plowed.  Imade pies and cake.  We started boiling sap around 7:30.  The girls and Earl took out the spoils and gathered up the sap dishes.  Johnny washed Jimmys car. They took the syrup off around 1.  We had dinner around noon. then Johnny and Igot ready and went over to West Hebron church to Pet. Bussinos funeral at 1 o'clock.  Jimmy took another load of manure to the lower place in the afternoon and plowed more.  The girls swept and moped the floor and porch.  We stopped at Barkleys awhile on the way home. Got home shortly after 3.  Johnny did chores. We had supper. The boys milked.  Good day. Kinda cloudy some times."

            Sun. Apr. 16: "We did up the housework.  All went to Marjorys and Earl got his good coat and hat and we all went to church.  Florence stayed for Sabbath School.  We took Earl down home and went up to Mothers.  Came home after Sabbath School and went over to Liddles awhile.  All stayed home in the afternoon.  Cloudy most all day and rained very fine a few times. The boys did chores." (Florence's handwriting) "At nite we all went down to Argyle.  The rest & Marion we to C. E., but I stayed to Grandmas."

            Mon. Apr. 17: "We did up the housework.  We did not wash because it rained.  I clensed the syrup that was boiled Saturday and boiled it down and made soft sugar.  Jimmie did  some more painting on his car.  Johnny took down some wood to Mother and went on down to Hank Moores to get the brakes fixed.  Florence made a cake. In the afternoon Busy and I mended some. Johnny did not get home very early because after he got the brakes fixed he went up to Horace Storys to play ball.  It rained hard most all day.  The boys did chores and at nite Johnny went away."

            Tues. Apr. 18: "We did up the housework.  We washed in the forenoon and the clothes all got dry.  In the afternoon we ironed.  In the forenoon Jimmy took some potatoes out to Hudson Falls to the Grand Union and traded them out.  Johnny split some wood and painted some on Jimmie's car.  After we got thru washing Johnny and I fixed the washing machine.  In the afternoon Jimmy went down to the lower place to plow, and Johnny painted some more on Jimmie's car.  Mrs. Will Black's funeral is today but I didn't go.  It sprinkled a few times today but begun raining hard tonight."

            Wed. Apr. 19: 'We did up the housework.  We cleaned the cellar-way today.  I baked in the forenoon.  In the forenoon Jimmy and Johnny both painted on Jimmy's car. Towards noon Jimmy drew a load of manure to the lower place. In the afternoon I made new syrup and fixed over my sweet cucumber pickles.  Busy & Florence cleaned the sap-pan and carried the bricks up in under the steps.  In the afternoon Jimmy drew manure to the lower place & Johnny painted on Jimmys car and did the chores.  At night we all went to Argyle. It has been a good day, quite cool and windy."

            Thurs. Apr. 20: "We did up the housework.  We cleaned the spare room and the front hall today.  In the forenoon Johnny chored around, split some wood, & fixed tires.  Jimmy went down to the lower place & plowed.   About noon Marjory, Laurence, & children came up.  They were here for dinner & stayed all afternoon. We finished cleaning the spare room this afternoon.  Jimmy went back down to the lower place & plowed this afternoon.  Johnny, Laurence & Earl went down & burned some brush."

            Fri. Apr. 21: (Busy's handwriting) "We did up the housework.  And put the curtains up in the front hall and spare bedroom and finished upstairs.  Busy swept some. Iwashed Florences hair.  And then Ibaked some pies. Johnny took a load of manure to the lower place and then plowed.  Jimmy sorted some potatoes and then took a load out to Glens Falls and brought Eddie home with him.  A short time after dinner Johnny, Florence and Busy and I went over to Salem.  Iwent to the bank and we went to John Chamberlains, they were not home so we came back down and John was in the bank.  Jimmy and Eddie went to the lower place with a load of manure and plowed.  I mended some. We had supper, the boys milked and we all went to Argyle.  Iwent to Marjorys and stayed with the children.  The girls and Jimmy went to South Argyle and got Beverly Moore they went to social and she came home with us.  Johnny went somewhere else."

            Sat. Apr. 22: "20º above zero   Johnny did not get home last nite so Busy helped Jimmy milk.  We did up the house work.  Jimmy took a load of manure down to the lower place and plowed.  Garry came along and stopped as he was on his way to take down snow fence.  And told us that after we came home last nite Marjorys and Laurences chimney burned, very windy, but no harm done as so many people came to help, Marj and kids went over to Mrs. McW's.  Ibaked some. Johnny got home around 11. rode up with Ed. Pollock.  In the afternoon Imended some and made frosting for cake and made salad dressing. Jimmy plowed to lower place and Johnny burned some brush.  The girls fooled around.  The boys did chores, we had supper and they milked.  Jimmy went away at nite. Florence, Beverly, Johnny and Busy played cards and Iread some.  The wind blew quite hard all day."

            Sun. Apr. 23: "13º above zero   We did up the housework. And all went to church. Did not stay for Sabbath School but went down to Marjorys and Lois came home with us.  We stopped at Mothers and Marions aminute or so.  We had dinner. Iread in the afternoon. The girls and Johnny played around some. Lois took her nap and then I curled her hair.  The boys did chores. At nite we all went to Argyle.  I went to Marion and Mothers and the rest went to C. E. then they took Beverly home. Wind blew some most all day and is kinda cool, altho the sunshone quite abit."

            Mon. Apr. 24: "We did up the housework.  Florence rode to school with Darflers.  We did the washing.  Jimmy took a load of manure down to the lower place and plowed some. Johnny split some wood and went down after Jimmy at noon and took him back down after dinner. And so he plowed in the afternoon and Johnny sorted some potatoes and split wood.  Busy did the ironing. And Imended nearly all afternoon.  Florence stayed to Marions after school.  The boys did chores. we had supper. And the boys milked. We all went to Argyle.  Johnny went to a baseball meeting. We went to Marions  and Mothers. Florence came home with us. Good day, wind blew, sunshone.  The clothes blew so hard they dried quick and was nearly all down before noon."

            Tues. Apr. 25: "We did up the housework.  Jimmy sorted potatoes and took a load to Glens Falls and got his license and also took Florence to school.  Johnny took a load of manure down to the lower place and plowed.  Jimmy got back below the lower place and had a flat tire after having one over between Argyle and F. Edward.  So the boys walked up from the lower place. Icut up some ham and filled a gallon jar in the forenoon and in the afternoon I cut up more and filled a gallon jar and a half gallon jar and covered them with greece.  Johnny fixed tires and Jimmy plowed.  Johnny went down to Argyle after Florence. Busy raked and burned some leaves. The boys did chores we had supper and the boys milk.  Good day, only kinda cloudy and rained a little bit in the afternoon.  Jimmy took Ed. Starr down to the hook in his car. The rest stayed home."

            Wed. Apr. 26: "We did up the housework and all went to Argyle to take Florence to school.  Busy and Iwent to Mothers and Marion & Ray came over so we took down Mothers sitting room stove pipe and cleaned it out.  The boys went somewhere.  Joe Pendergrass called and sed he would be up to our house this afternoon to paper the rooms upstairs. So as soon as the boys got back to Argyle we hurried home and Marion and Raymond came up with us and took the things out of Busy bedroom and we heard Joe was going to wait until tomorrow morning to come.  Jimmy plowed some in the horse pasture.  Marion and Ray went down after Florence from school.  It rained and snowed some in the forenoon.  And wind blew hard in the afternoon We had supper and the boys milked.  The boys went away. Busy went away too."

            Thurs. Apr. 27: "We did up the housework.  Joe and Colman Pendergrass came up around 8 and papered the ceilings in Johnny, Jimmys and Busys bedrooms.  We had to take Johnnys bed down and everything out of Jimmys bedroom except the bed.  They were thru before 11 and then went home.  Jimmy took Florence to school.  Johnny took a load of manure down to the lower place and Jimmy plowed so Johnny brought the car home.  Ibaked pies and Busy made a cake.  Put the things back in Jimmys room and put up Johnnys bed.  We got dinner. Then Johnny took Jimmy to the lower place to plow.  Johnny sorted potatoes.  Around 2:30 Busy and Iwent up stairs and started papering Busys bedroom.  Johnny went after Florence from school. We came down stairs around supper time, got  supper.  The boys milked we all stayed home at nite Wind blew hard, snowed some in forenoon. cloudy most all day. V. Scally came up after we had gone to bed and got Jimmy to take her to Argyle after some medicine as they had a sick horse. So he went."

            Fri. Apr. 28: (Florence's handwriting) "We did up the housework.  Johnny took Florence to school  We didn't get home until about 10 o'clock.  He brought Earl home with him. R. W. Clare came down after a load of hay in the forenoon.  In the forenoon Jimmy took a load of manure to the lower place and plowed.  Busy & I finished papering Busy's room today.  In the afternoon Jimmy went to the lower place & plowed & Johnny sorted potatoes & helped us put the border on. Then he went down after Florence & Teresa & took Earl home.  At night the boys both went away."

            Sat. Apr. 29: (Busy's handwriting) "We did up the housework.  Jimmy took a load of manure down to the lower place and plowed.  Johnny sorted potatoes and split wood.  Florence thru back wood. Ibaked some. And we filled 4 pt cans of ham and cooked them for about 3hours.  Johnny went down after Jimmy at noon. We had dinner. Jimmy took Johnny to the lower place to plow. Jimmy split wood and sorted a few potatoes.  The girls thru back wood. Busy moped the floor. Imended some and put new short sleeves in Florences 4H dress.  We had supper and the boys milked. Jimmy went away. Good day, very warm."

            Sun. Apr. 30: "Iset the clock around 1 hour this morning.  Now starting 'Day Light Savings Time'.  We did up the housework.  And all went to Argyle. Istayed at Mothers and the rest went to church. Jennie called to Marions and said she was waiting to Fort Edward and for some one to come out and get her.  Jimmy went out after her. Florence and I went to Mothers for dinner. Busy went to Marions. The boys went to the show.  Iwas at Mothers until around 5 and went to Marjorys as they came up to see Jen. Marion and children were over. The girls came down later. and went up to Marions for supper. After supper Laurence took me up to Mothers.  The girls went to C. E. and the boys came down to C. E. too. After C. E. we came home. Good day. wind blew warm all day."

            Mon. May 1: "We did up the housework. Florence rode to school with Darflers.  We did the washing.  Ilayed down awhile. Jimmy went to the lower place and plowed and dragged. Johnny split wood and sorted potatoes.  Johnny went down after Jimmy for dinner and took him back down to plow and drag.  Johnny sorted potatoes. I mended quite abit.  Busy ironed.  The wind blew warm and it has been a good day.  The clothes got dry early. Johnny went to Argyle after Florence room school and took some potatoes to Saffords. We had supper, the boys milked.  The boys sorted potatoes at nite. Howard Yarter took Jennie to Fort Edward this afternoon."

            Tues. May 2: "We did up the housework.  Jimmy took Florence to school and took some potatoes to Glens Falls.  Johnny went to the lower place and dragged.  Rode home with Jimmy at noon.  After dinner Johnny took Jimmy down to drag. Busy baked some in the forenoon.  And Icovered the bacon with beef tally.  In the afternoon Ilayed down awhile, then wrote some cards for Johnny.  Then mended some of the boys socks.  Johnny sorted some potatoes in the afternoon.  Then went down after Florence from school.  We had supper. The boys milked, and then they went away.  Good day, sunshone warm and the wind blew warm and very hard.  Florence, Busy and Iwent down to the school house meeting.  They put the same officers in. Ed. Pollock - Trustee, Howard Mahaffy - Collector.  John Liddle - Clerk."

            Wed. May 3: "We did up the housework.  Johnny took Florence to school and took some potatoes to Grand Union at Fort Edward and traded them out.  And stayed down and brought Florence home from school at nite.  Jimmy sorted potatoes in the forenoon and also afternoon, nearly all day but had some chores to do.  In the forenoon Busy and Ipapered most of Johnnys room. All except above door and window.  In the afternoon we finished it and put the border on.  Iam feeling better today.  Imade Strawberry Shortcake for supper. We had supper.  The boys milked.  I mended some socks.  We all stayed home at nite.  Cloudy and rained nearly all day. Very dark sometimes."

            Thurs. May 4: "We made bread and biscuits today.  We did up the housework.  Johnny took Florence to school.  Jimmy took a load of manure to the lower place and plowed.  Johnny fixed the fence around the cow pasture up by Clares and Gilchrists.  Imade cookies and pies.  We had dinner after Johnny went down after Jimmy.  They turned the cows up in the cow pasture.  Johnny took Jimmy back down to work.  Johnny chored around some. Imended some things and then cleaned, pressed Jimmys good pants. and cleaned the boys shoes.  We had supper and the boys milked.  We all went to Argyle.  Florence went to Marjorys after school.  So we went down there and put Lois and Earl to bed and sleep as Marjory went over to McWhorters to a birthday party for Bernice.  Then Laurence stayed with the kids. So around 9 we came up to Marions and Ikept her kids while they and the rest went to town hall to dance by baseball team.  Florence stayed to Marions all nite."

            Fri. May 5: "We did up the housework.  Jimmy went to the lower place to drag.  Johnny and Ilooked over the seed oats and mixed the grass seed.  Imade pies. Johnny went down after Jimmy for dinner. and took him back down as he then took the team down to John Cuthberts after his drill.  And got started to drill around 3:30.  In the afternoon we went to Argyle after Florence and Ihad to go to the bank.  We went to Mothers. Marion and children came over so they raked some and burned over Mothers garden.  Then Marjory and kids came up too.  We came home and Eddie came up with us.  We stopped to the cemetery awhile.  Johnny and Eddie put the cows in and split some wood.  Then Johnny was nearly thru milking when Jimmy came from work.  We had supper. And the boys went away.  Good day."

            Sat. May 6: "We did up the housework.  Jimmy took the team to the lower place to drill.  Johnny split wood.  Florence threw back wood.  Florence drew the chunks in in wagon house. Imade cookies, pies and Johnny a birthday cake and another cake.  Busy swept and moped.  We fixed ice cream and the boys froze it.  Then Johnny and Eddie went down after Jimmy.  After dinner the girls went with  Johnny and Eddie to take Jimmy to the lower place and went up to Belle McGeochs after our goblers.  In the afternoon Imade salad dressing and frosting for the cakes.  Johnny split some wood and he and Eddie did some chores.  Florence and Busy threw back some wood and cleaned up the sawdust.  The boys got the cows.  We had supper.  Jimmy got thru drilling and took the drill back down to J. Cuthberts.  The boys milked. Then went up to McGeochs after a gobler.  Florence went to 4H meeting with Teresa. Good day only cloudy."

            Sun. May 7: "We did up the housework.  Did not any of us go to church.  We had dinner around noon.  And Jimmy went away in his car. And the rest of us went up to Hazels.  They were not home from church. So we went to South Hartford after some gas and up to North Hartford.  And came back to Hazels.  We came home around 5.  Johnny and Eddie got the cows and did the milking. Good day but kinda cold and windy.  At nite we all went to Argyle.  Eddie went home. Iwent to Marions and Mothers. The rest went to C. E. Jimmy did not get home until after we did."

            Mon. May 8: "We did up the housework. Florence rode to school with Darflers.  We did the washing.  Jimmy went to the lower place and plowed.  Johnny split wood.  Johnny went down after Jimmy for dinner and took him back down after dinner so he could plow.  He finished plowing at the lower place and came up around 5:30.  In the afternoon Imended alot.  Busy did the ironing.  Johnny chored around and took some wood in the car down to Mothers and brought Florence from school.  And Earl came up to stay all nite too.  We had supper. The boys milked. Johnny split some wood and Jimmy sorted some potatoes. All stayed home at nite. Good day. Kinda windy. cold this morning."

            Tues. May 9: "We did up the housework.  Jimmy took Florence to school and took some potatoes to Glens Falls, came back to the lower place and burned some brush.  Johnny took the team down to the lower place and rolled the oat field.  And came up with Jimmy at noon for dinner.  Ibaked in the forenoon and made some maple sugar.  Busy and Earl were out doors and raked some leaves and had a bonfire.  The boys burned some brush down by the other house.  Then Jim and Earl took Johnny to the lower place and he finished rolling the oat field. Jimmy and Iwent to Mrs. Fred McAuleys funeral at 3 o'clock.  Very large funeral.  Earl and Busy did some raking in the afternoon.  The boys burned more brush down by the other house.  Then got the cows.  We had supper. They milked.  Florence stayed to Marion s after school.  We went down at nite.   Johnny played ball. Then went away.  We took Earl home. Jimmy went away."

            Wed. May 10: "We did up the housework.  It rained some. Johnny took Florence to school.  He didn't get home until about noon.  Ibaked some pies and a cake.  Busy swept and moped in the bedrooms upstairs.  Jimmy layed around today.  Johnny shod King this afternoon.  Jimmy went down after Florence from school.  Busy moped the kitchen floor. And washed the windows in her room.  Iironed the curtains and we put them up and got things back in her room.  Johnny got the cows.  We had supper. The boys milked. We all stayed home at nite.  Cloudy all day and rained some."

            Thurs. May 11: "We did up the housework.  Johnny took Florence to school.  Jimmy went to the lower place to drag.  Johnny fixed the fence around the cow pasture down by Claytons.  Imade cherry Jello and chocolate cake to take this afternoon.  Imade pumpkin pies and cookies.  Johnny went down after Jimmy for dinner. And took him back again.  Ifrosted the cake. Busy made salad dressing and Imade a salad for the boys supper and left other things.  Around 2:45 Busy took me down to Nellie Dennis to a W. C. T. U. meeting.  Mrs. George Murdock, Lizzie Kinney, Nellie, Marjory Cuthbert, Mrs. Bob. Bain and I were hostess. Mrs. McGeoch and Mrs. Joe Randles were leaders.  Busy went to Argyle and took Marion to the cemetary. Her and Florence came up to Dennis', had supper and we helped do dishes.  Johnny was going away so Jimmy brought him down to Dennis'.  So Johnny took the Nash and went away.  Jimmy brought us home.  Then we went to Hazels after a few early potatoes. We run out of gas. Good day."

            Fri. May 12: "We did up the housework.  Johnny took Florence to school and fixed a tire on the Nash and the horn.  He got home around 11:15.  Jimmy took the team down to George Herzigs  and dragged all A.M.  Busy and Ipiled the chunks in the wagon house and she drew more in, and threw back wood.  Imade a cake. In the afternoon Jimmy drew manure up on the hill. Johnny went to Argyle and took Florence and some other kids over to Salem and the high school boys went to play.  Jimmy got the cows. We had supper and Busy helped him milk some and then Johnny, Florence and Teresa came home.  Johnny helped finish milk.  Jimmy went away.  The rest of us went to Argyle.  Florence and Busy stayed with Marions kids. as Ed and Marion brought their letters to join the ch.  Ed. Marion and I went to church.  Johnny went somewhere.  We 3 came home."

            Sat. May 13: "We did up the housework. The boys fixed some fence where the young cattle got out and then Johnny went to the lower place and helped Dave Scally fix the fence around the cow pasture as he has his cattle there.  Ibaked, Busy cleaned the milk house some. Florence ironed some.  Jimmy drew some manure up on the hill. We had dinner. And Florence and Ichanged our clothes and Jimmy took us down to Liddles to go over to Mrs. Jay Storys to a girls 4H meeting.  The girls cooked lunch and we Mothers ate it.  Johnny and Jimmy sorted potatoes and Jimmy took them to Glens Falls. Johnny drew manure up on the hill. They had supper and the boys milked.  Busy and Jimmy went away.  Johnny came down after us around 8:30.  Cloudy in the morning but a fair day.  Rained some last nite."

            Sun. May 14: "We did up the housework.  The girls went up in the woods after some lillies. Johnny brought some cow slips and furns.  We fixed up a bouquet for Mother and some to take to the cemetary. We all went to Argyle.  Busy stayed with Marions children and we took Florence down to Marjorys to stay with the kids so Marj. went to church with us.  As it was communion.  Johnny went away after  church.  Mother came home with us.  We took the flowers to the cemetary.  Florence, Marj, Laurence and kids came up for dinner.  They went home around 4:30.  Jimmy got the cows. Busy helped him milk some. We had supper and all went to Argyle.  Left Mother at home and Iwent to C. E. as all the Mothers were invited.  They had some extra things. Good day, kinda windy but quite warm until towards nite.  Johnny got home after we did."

            Mon. May 15: "We did up the housework.  We did not do a big washing as Johnny could not start the engine as it has not been started since Tuesday nite.  Ralph Clares man came down and Johnny helped him load the hay and went up with him to work up there today.  Jimmy dragged up on the hill behind the cow barn.  Iwashed the curtains and things out of the parlor and we put the curtains on the stretchers.  Took the other things out and put somethings to air.  We had dinner. Jimmy split some wood and started draging awhile and quit and went to Argyle after Florence from school.  Busy washed the wood work and windows in the parlor.  Imade a drapery for the parlor shef and ironed some. Imade cake and escalloped potatoes.  Florence and Itook the curtains off stretchers.  Jimmy got a new spark plug for the engine and started it so Busy swept the parlor floor. Clare brought Johnny home.  Jimmy got the cows.  We had supper. The boys milked.  Jimmy took Ed Star somewhere.  We put up the parlor curtains after supper."

            Tues. May 16: "We did up the housework.  Busy took Florence to school and got Mothers sitting room curtains and the quilt off her bed and we washed them and did our own washing too.  Johnny went to Clares to work today.  Jimmy dragged up on the top of the hill behind the cow barn.  In the afternoon Iironed Mothers curtains and Busy did the rest of the ironing.  The clothes all got dry.  Very good day.  We turned my bed around as I did not sleep much last nite.  In the afternoon Jimmy plowed and dragged the garden and dragged the ground up behind the house in the horse pasture and fixed some fence, then got the cows.  We had supper. The boys milked. Jimmy went somewhere. Florence went to Marjorys after school and was there for supper.  We all went to Argyle.  Johnny played baseball.  Iwent to Mothers and Marions.  Put a plaster on my back."

            Wed. May 17: "We did up the housework.  Busy took Florence to school.  Johnny went to Clares to work. Jimmy dragged up on hill behind the cow barn.  Imade pies and ginger snaps.  Busy made graham bread and cake.  In the afternoon Jimmy marked out and planted potatoes in the horse pasture behind the house just a few early ones.  Imended some in the afternoon.  Jimmy took potatoes to Glens Falls and got some new work shoes and brought Florence from school.  Johnny came home and got the cows.  We had supper. The boys milked.  Jimmy went away.  After supper we went out to the garden and the girls put in 1 package of Lettuce and 2 packages of Radishes Seeds.  Very good day."

            Thurs. May 18: "We did up the housework.  Jimmy took Florence to school.  And took Grandma up to the bank.  And brought home some fertilizer from Wm. McW's.  Johnny went to Clares to work again today.  After Jimmy got home he dragged up on top of the hill behind the cow barn. At noon he went to see Dave Scally, then went to H. Mahaffys after the corn planter.  In the afternoon he drew manure up on the hill. Busy and Iwent to Argyle.  Iwent to the bank. Then we went down to Mothers.  Busy washed some of her windows.  Then on our way home Iwent to the doctors as my side is very lame and sore today.  Then we went to the cemetary.  The girls got the cows.  Igot supper. The boys milked. And went away.  Busy set out some onion sets.  Good day but sprinkled a little towards nite."

            Fri. May 19: (Florence's handwriting) "We did up the housework.  Johnny went up to Clares to work.  Jimmy went up to M. Morgan's and got a 1-horse corn planter.  When he got back  he took Florence to school.  He went to Will McWhorters to get the rest of the fertilizer for the corn.  After he got back he went up on the hill and planted corn for the rest of the day.  Marjory, Laurence & Children came up about 11:00 o'clock & stayed until about 4:00 o'clock. Florence stayed down to Marions after school.  Jimmy went away & the rest of us went to Argyle.  I kept Marjory's kids for her to go to the social at R. McGeochs.  Marjory, Laurence, Busy & Florence all went to the social."

            Sat. May 20: "We did up the housework.  Johnny went to Clare's to work again today.  In the forenoon Jimmy drew manure up on the hill.  In the forenoon we went down to Mahaffys to get the Transportation money.  After we got back Busy went down to Argyle to get some seed corn but they didn't have any so she went on out to Fort Edward & got some.  Grandma & Marion's children rode out with her.  She got back about 1:00 & Jimmy finished planting the corn up on the hill.  After we got the work done up the girls put the rest of the chunks in the Wagon House & then threw back some wood.  At night Johnny went down to Argyle to play ball but we had quite a hard thunder shower.  We baked bread to-day.  In the afternoon I started making the drapery for the parlor cupboard shelves."

            Sun. May 21: "We did up the housework.  We stayed at home in the forenoon.  There is no preaching because Mr. King is away.  Jimmy went to Greenwich to take Star's folks down.  After dinner Busy, Florence, & I went over to Hebron to Mary F. Williamson's funeral.  In the forenoon Florence made some candy.  Johnny tried to start the engine but didnt have very good luck.  On the way home we stopped to Clayton Barkley's and saw the baby."  (Busy's handwriting)  "Jimmy came home. Johnny got the cows and the boys milked.  We all went to Argyle to the M. E. Church and heard a program about prohibition.  Pretty good day. It rained hard at nite."

            Mon. May 22: "Florence rode to school with Darflers.  We did up the housework.  Johnny worked to Clares today.  Jimmy dragged to the lower place all day.  We cleaned the sitting room today.  Ibaked some.  The boys took the stove in the hall after supper.  Iwashed and ironed the curtains.  We put them up after supper. We washed the pictures.  Busy washed woodwork.  Busy went after Florence from school.  Very good day.  At nite I made the rest of the draperys for the parlor cupboard shelves.  Bob Starr split some wood in the afternoon.  Johnny tried to start the engine."

            Tues. May 23: "We did up the housework.  Johnny took Florence to school and fixed a tire.  Jimmy finished dragging the potato ground in the forenoon. And marked it one way in the afternoon.  In the forenoon we put the draperys on the parlor cupboard shelves and put the little dishes and other things on the shelves.  We had dinner. In the afternoon we cleaned the 2 clothes presses and 2 bedrooms down stairs.  Johnny got the engine started after working along time and then sorted potatoes.  We had supper.  Jimmy went somewhere.  The rest of us went to Argyle.  Florence stayed to Marjorys after school.  Johnny played ball and then went to Glens Falls to the show. We took Mother and Marion up to vote.  Very good day."

            Wed. May 24: (Florence's handwriting) "We did up the housework.  Johnny took Florence to school and went on out to Fort Edward to get some stuff to dip potatoes, but didn't get any.  He took potatoes out to the Grand Union & traded them out.  We did a big washing today.  Jimmy went to Stars in the forenoon.  It started raining so just after noon a while Johnny went over after Jimmy. We got quite a lot of clothes dry before it started raining.  It didn't rain very hard so most of the clothes dry.  We did the ironing.  Jimmy & Johnny went down to Nelson Pratts, but he didn't have any so he they went on to Greenwich and got some there. They looked for second-hand tires, but didn't find any.  Florence stayed down after school.  Johnny & Busy went down to a ball game.  They all came home after the ball game was over.  Jim split wood."

            Thurs. May 25: "We did up the housework.  Busy took Florence to school and went down and had Mrs. Gallup curl her hair.  She got home about 11:00 o'clock.  Jimmy went over to Stars again and dropped some more potatoes.  Johnny went up to Clares and got the wire basket to dip potatoes in.  Then he went to the lower place and got a barrel but it leaked so he couldn't use it.  After noon he went over to Stars to get a barrel but couldn't.  Jimmy, Bob, & Francis Star came back with him.  They took a barrel that had had apples in and sawed it to the right size.  Before night the dipped about 70 bushel.  Busy & I went down & took Florence out to get a new dress.  At night we went down to a dance. I stayed with Marion's children."

            Fri. May 26: "We did up the housework.  Busy took Florence to school.  Busy & Florence carried in the chunks.  We got up about 6:00 o'clock & the boys did chores.  Then they took a load of potatoes down to the lower place.  Ed, Francis, Bob Star helped the boys plant potatoes all day.  About 3 o'clock Busy & I went down to Argyle, as this is Marjorys birthday.  I stayed to Marjorys & cut Earl's hair & helped to get her sewing machine to work.  Busy & Florence went to a ball game. Argyle High (3) played Cambridge (5).  Score 5-3.  After supper Johnny went to Argyle to play ball again.  After supper Jimmy cut potatoes & then went and took Bob & Francis Star home."

            Sat. May 27: "We did up the housework.  In the forenoon the boys sorted & dipped potatoes.  Ed Star came over about noon.  He helped the boys plant potatoes. We made ice cream today.  I baked in the forenoon. Busy swept up stairs.  In the afternoon Jimmy, Johnny & Ed Star planted potatoes.  It rained hard a few minutes & drizzled most all afternoon.  Busy got the cows because the boys didn't get home until about 6 o'clock.  They got wet planting potatoes & had to change their clothes after they got home.  At night Jimmy & Busy went away.  Just after Busy went Johnny & Florence & I started to finish the rest of the wood pile.  Johnny split some & Florence & I carried the chunks to the Wagon house.  It rained some while we were finishing it."

            Sun. May 28: "We did up the housework.  The boys took a heifer up back that had gotten out & salted the rest.  They didn't get back very early.  We went to church. Earl, Lois & Ruthie came home with us after church.  In the afternoon Johnny went away.  He didn't come back to help do chores.  We went for a walk and on our way back we saw the old turkey.  Busy went to watch her go to her nest, but she found her with four little turkeys.  At night we went down to Argyle & took Earl, Lois & Ruth home.  I stayed to Marions and Grandma's.  The rest went to C. U."

            Mon. May 29: "We did up the housework.  Busy took Florence to school.  In the I went down & helped to cut potatoes.  As soon as Busy got home she helped cut potatoes.  We cut potatoes 'til dinner time.  After dinner the boys loaded up their potatoes and went down to plant them.  In the afternoon Busy dug up some ground for flowers & I baked some. About 4 o'clock Johnny came up and wanted more potatoes.  We took them down to the field when we went down after Florence.  On the way home we stopped at the cemetary and raked off the grass on ours & Ed's lot.   Eddy went up and helped us & was going back with Garry.  At night the boys went over to Darflers to get some potatoes.  At nite I fixed a reath of flowers to take to the cemetary tomorrow."

May 30: "We did up the housework.  I baked pies before breakfast.  After breakfast we got dinner ready to eat down to Mother's.  In the forenoon Jimmy plowed.  About 10:30 we started for Argyle.  We took the flowers down to the cemetary & fixed them down there.  Busy took Johnny down to play ball & left Florence & I at the cemetary.  When she came back up she brought Marion with her.  We got back to Marions about 12:00.  The girls went to the ball game.  We all went to Mothers to eat our lunch.  Jimmy came down in afternoon.  After dinner Busy & Florence took Mother & I down to Mrs. Weir's.  After that we took Mother up to the cemetary.  I went to the hall & rest went to ball game in P.M.  We got home about six.  The boys went away at night."

            Wed. May 31: "We did up the housework.  Florence rode to school with Darfler's.  In the forenoon Johnny got the engine started & Jimmy plowed.  Busy & I worked in the garden.  In the afternoon Johnny went up to Clare's to work.  Jimmy went to Glens Falls and got the lisence's and a couple of second-hand tires for the Nash.  Busy cut a lot of weeds this afternoon.  Jimmy brought Florence & Teresa home with him.  At night Johnny put the old tubes in the new tires.  Busy & I set out some plants Jimmy got this afternoon.  At night Jimmy went away.  It has been a good day."

            Thurs. June 1: (Busy's handwriting)  "We did up the housework.  Florence rode to school with Darflers.  Johnny worked to Clares all day.  Jimmy plowed up on the hill for corn most all day.  Busy worked in the garden some in the forenoon, put in some tomato plants etc.  Imade pies.  And also cupcakes to take to reception tonite.  Imade frosting for them in the afternoon.  We washed out a few clothes by hand today.  Florence stayed to Marions after school.  We had supper and the boys milked.  We went to Argyle.  Got Grandma, Marion, Helen, Ruth, Ray and we all went down to church to a reception for Mr. and Mrs. King.  Marjory, Laurence and 3 kids were there.  Alot there.  Had ice cream and cupcakes.  The congregation gave Mr. and Mrs. King ($50.)  Florence stayed to Marions all nite."

            Fri. June 2: "We did up the housework.  In the forenoon the boys went to the lower place and finished planting potatoes.  We made bread.  Imade ginger snaps.  Busy painted the floor in her room.  After dinner Iput the bread in tins and washed dinner dishes, baked bread.  In the afternoon Jimmy plowed up on the hill for corn.  Johnny went to Argyle after Florence and Teresa and stayed for the ball game.  High boys played Salem High.  We had supper. The boys both went away.  Good day.  Ifixed my two boxes of geraniums tonite.  And nite before last Ifixed a box of geraniums and a box of perwinkles.  So have them all done now.  Icleaned Johnny white hat this afternoon."

            Sat. June 3: "We did up the housework.  The boys drew manure up on the hill in the forenoon and cleaned the cowstable.  We made ice cream.  Imade pies and Florence made cake.  In the afternoon Busy swept & moped the floor.  Johnny went to Liddles after acorn planter and he and Florence planted the sweetcorn up behind the house in the horse pasture.  We put the rug down in Busys room and straitened things up.  Jimmy went over to Stars to watch Ed plow with tractor.  We had avery hard thunder shower.  Some hard claps.  Lightening struck and burned Ed. Pollocks barn.  Telephones do not work.  The boys got cows and we had supper. They milked. Busy went away."

            Sun. June 4: "We did up the housework.  And did not go to church.  In the forenoon we went up to Ed. Pollocks, where the barns burned yesterday, stopped to McKernons aminute coming home.  We had dinner at noon.  Then Jimmy went away.  The rest of us went to Argyle.  Istopped at Marjorys.  Johnny, Florence, Earl and Busy and Beverly went to Easton to the ball game.  Johnny played.  They had a flat tire and car trouble, so were late getting around and went home and did chores and came to Argyle at nite.  Took Earl home and went to C. E.   Laurence, Marj and kids took me up to Mothers and Marions in the P.M. and Istayed until nite then went to Marjorys and stayed with the children while Marj and Laurence went to C. U. Johnny had another flat tire.  We stayed to Marions while he took B. home.  But we got home before Jimmy did."

            Mon. June 5: "We did up the housework.  We did the washing. Florence rode to school with Darflers.  In the forenoon Jimmy drew manure.  Johnny fixed tires and did afew little things.  In the afternoon Jimmy plowed up on the hill for corn.  Johnny went down to Hank Moores and had him do some work on the car.  It did not work very good so he had to be pushed to the filling station and fixed it then had aflat tire.  We did the ironing in the afternoon.  Very good day, the clothes all got dry.  Busy got the cows.  The boys milked.  We had alunch.  We made salad and sandwiches then went to Hedges Lake.  Took Beverly.  Went to Argyle Prespertary Christian Union Picnic.  Alot there.  They had supper and a program."

            Tues. June 6: "We did up the housework.  After breakfast Busy went to Mrs. Bess Randles to help her today, so Florence rode down there with her and rode to school with Saffords.  I did up the work and got dinner. In the forenoon the boys drew some manure up on the hill but it was so hot they had to quit as the horses swet so bad.  In the afternoon Jimmy plowed some.  Johnny took me to Argyle.  Iwent to the bank, we brought Florence from school.  Good day, Very hot.  We had supper, the boys milked.  At nite I transplanted cabbage plants.  The rest went to Goose Island school house to a 4H meeting and marshmallow roast."

            Wed. June 7: "Florence rode to school with Darflers.  Busy went to Randles to work again today.  Idid up the housework and did alot of baking.  The boys drew manure up on the hill. And in the afternoon Jimmy finished plowing the field for corn up on the hill across from the lane.  Johnny fooled around afternoon.  Imended some.  Florence came up as far as Randles and came home home with Busy, when they were ready to come home they had aflat tire, so changed it.  We were eating supper when they got home. The boys milked. And Johnny fixed the tire.  Ihemed sheets. We all stayed home.  The rest played ball. It rained hard and thundered some.  The rain was over around 8:30.  Good day. Sun was hot. cooler at nite."

            Thurs. June 8: (Florence's handwriting)  "We did up the housework.  Johnny took Busy and Florence down .  They left Busy to Randle's.  She is going to work to Randle's again today.  Johnny went out to Fort Edward to get some corn.  He got back about 11:00.  Jimmy dragged a while, but it was so hot he come down with the horses & rode around on the wood trucks. The boys went up to Morgan's & got the corn-planter.  After they got back they chored around.  Then they went down after Busy & Florence.  At nite Jimmy planted corn up on the hill.  It has been a very hot day."

            Fri. June 9: (Busy's handwriting) "90º in shade     We did up the housework.  Johnny took Florence to school and Busy went to Marions to help her move her beds & things up stairs so they could sleep up there.  Jimmy got up early and finished draging the corn ground.  Johnny got some fertilizer.  The boys planted corn in the forenoon and finished planting it after dinner awhile.  Ibaked quite alot and sewed quite abit.  Johnny went to Argyle and to aball game.  He brought Florence and Busy home, they had aflat tire and car trouble.  Johnny fixed tire and car, Jimmy got cows.  We had supper, they milked.  Jimmy went away.  Johnny took me to Marions and Florence and Busy went to grange.  came to Marions.  And Jimmy came to take us home (late).  Good day, Very very hot."

            Sat. June 10: "We did up the housework.  Icooked custard for ice cream and Made cake.  Jimmy went down to Georges to borrow a post maw and he and Johnny set the posts and put up the garden fence.  They froze the ice cream.  In the afternoon the boys took the corn planter up to Morgans and did afew things.  Then Jimmy went to Argyle to have some work done on his car.  The girls swept and moped.  It is avery hot day.  They played ball. We had supper. The boys milked. Jimmy and Busy went away."

            Sun. June 11: "We did up the housework.  Johnny went away.  The rest of us went to church.  We took some flowers to the cemetary.  After church we went down to Marjorys.  Jimmy went some where.  Marjory, Laurence and the kids brought Florence, Busy and Iup home.  We had dinner and stayed here until around 6 o'clock.  Then we went to Argyle with them when they went home.   Iwent to Mothers and Marions.  The girls went to Marjorys, for awhile and they and Earl came up to Marions.  Laurence came up after Earl and I.  Istayed with the children while Marjory and Laurence went to C. U.  Florence, Busy and Helen went to C. U.  Pretty good day.  Jimmy came after up at Marjorys after us.  Johnny got home after we did awhile.  Jimmy came home to milk around 6.  Florence and I was at Mothers for supper."

            Mon. June 12: "We did up the housework.  Florence rode to school with Darflers.  It sprinkled alittle two or three times, in the morning.  We did the washing.  The young cattle got out and the boys put them back in.  In the afternoon we did the ironing.  The clothes all got dry as it was very warm.  The sunshone and wind blew quite abit.  In the afternoon Jimmy took Dave Scallys drag and things home.  Then the boys drew aload of stone off the bank and beside the road in front of the house.  And then drew afew apples and potatoes out of the cellar.  Johnny went after Florence from school.  We had supper and the boys milked.  Imended alot.  We picked over beans.  All of us stayed home at nite."

            Tues. June 13: "We did up the housework.  Busy took Florence to school.  The boys both cultivated corn up on the hill behind the cow barn.  We baked some.  Around noon Marjory, Laurence and kids came up with our (2) pigs.  In the afternoon the boys finished cultivating corn.  Busy picked afew strawberries down in the orchard.  Imended.  Around 4:30 Laurence went home.  The boys milked. We had supper. Johnny, Busy, Marj and kids went to Argyle.  As Johnny played baseball.  Jimmy and Iwent down later.  Johnny went some where else.  We came home with Jimmy.  Florence stayed to Marions after school and for supper. Kinda cloudy and cold. quite cold at nite."

            Wed. June 14: "We did up the housework.  Johnny took Florence to school.  Ramson Nichols came over on business this forenoon.  We baked some. The boys fixed the fence and put the young cattle in.  In the afternoon Imended.  Busy picked some strawberries.  Jimmy went to the lower place after the mowing machine and pulled weeds out of the oats.  Johnny went to Argyle after Florence from school.  Florence and Ipicked over the strawberries and Imade ashortcake.  We had supper. The boys milked.  We picked over some berries.  Jimmy went away.  The rest played ball. Cloudy today and cold. quite cold at nite."

            Thurs. June 15: "We did up the housework.  Jimmy took Florence to school and brought Marion and Raymond up for the day.  Johnny started the engine and Ralph Clare called up and wanted Johnny to help him today.  So Johnny went up.  I baked some.  Jimmy fixed fence in the forenoon.  We had dinner. Then Jimmy went to work on the road in the afternoon.  I sowed some.  The men are working on the road, drawing gravel by.  So Marion, Ray and Busy rode down to the cow pasture with Ed after the cows.  F. Star came with Jimmy from work.  We had supper.  The boys milked. and were thru when Johnny came home from Clares.  Jimmy and Francis went away.  The rest of us went to Argyle.  Florence stayed with Helen for supper. They went to a ball game.  Busy went to Jean Fahrenhotz to a party.  Johnny went somewhere. We came home after while."

            Fri. June 16: "We did up the housework.  Iput up Jimmys dinner and he went to work on the road again today.  Johnny took Florence to school.  Ibaked some.  Johnny, Busy and Ifixed up the cupboard down stairs, then Busy put the cans up on. After dinner Johnny went down to district school picnic to play baseball with the boys.  He came home awhile and then went down after Florence, Teresa and Helen came up to stay.  They waited to see aball game.  High school boys played Hoosic Falls. Busy put in some radish seeds, cucumbers and beans seeds in the garden.  Jimmy came from work and got the cows.  We had supper.  The boys milked.  It rained and thundered a few times. (Rainbow)  The boys both went away.  Cloudy and quite cold all day.  Helen and Florence set out some flowers at nite after the rain."

            Sat. June 17: "We did up the housework.  Iput up Jimmys lunch and he went to work on the road again today.  Johnny started the engine, fixed the new part on the rake and did afew other things.  We mixed bread and made cookies, pies.  Ilayed down some today as Iam not feeling very well.  In the afternoon Busy moped the kitchen floor. Florence and Helen played baseball.  Johnny got the cows.  Jimmy came from work.  We had supper. The boys milked.  Helen picked some berries off the bank behind the house.  We fixed the back window.  Has been cloudy all forenoon and around noon it rained hard and hailed some.  Thundered and lightened some.  It rained only afew minutes.  Alittle 2 or 3 times in the afternoon.  All stayed home at nite until around 9:30 the boys went to adance."

            Sun. June 18: "We did up the housework.  All went to church but Jimmy.  Helen stayed at home from church.  We did not go to Sabbath School.  Came home and had dinner. Johnny went down to Corrys to play ball.  Jimmy went away.  We cracked some walnuts and made come candy.  The girls got the cows.  Johnny came home and Busy helped him milk.  In the afternoon Iwrote aletter to Jen. Florence studied.  Busy went away at nite.  Johnny, Florence went to C. U.  Iwent to Marjorys and stayed with Lois and Roland, while Marjory and Earl went to C. U. too.  The car doesn't work very good today.  Cloudy all day and cold.  Rained very fine most all afternoon."

            Mon. June 19: "We did up the housework.  Florence rode to school to try her Algebra (old time) Exam with Darflers.  She passed it. 65%   Johnny helped me fix the cylinder in the washing machine and then he had a hard time trying to start the engine. But finally got it started.  Then we did the washing.  Jimmy took the team to the lower place to cultivate the potatoes.  As soon as Johnny got the engine started he went down and helped Jimmy cultivate.  Around noon Jimmy went down after Florence.  Got Johnny from the lower place coming home.  We had dinner. Jimmy took me to Rob. Sloans funeral.  The funeral was at 1 standard time at the home.  He was buried at Salem but we did not go to the cemetary.  Johnny worked some on the car.  After we got home the boys went to the lower place and cultivated.  The girls ironed.  Imended.  Busy got the cows.  We had supper.  The boys milked.   Johnny fixed fence.  Jimmy & girls ground the Mowing machine knives.  Imended and read.  The girls went with Jimmy to W. Dem. to see about borrowing his potato cover.  Good day."

            Wed. June 20: (Florence's handwriting) "We did up the housework.  We got up early and Johnny went to Clare's to work.  In the forenoon Jimmy covered potatoes and in the afternoon he mowed hay.  Busy and Florence went burying this forenoon.  Busy & I looked them over in the afternoon.  Florence studied in the afternoon.  After we got the berries looked over I sewed some, and Busy went down in the cow pasture and got some more berries. She brought the cows back when she came.  At night we all went to Argyle to a ball game."

            Thurs. June 21: "We did up the housework.  I baked some.  Jimmy went down to the lower place & cultivated potatoes.  We made ice cream today.  After Johnny got the ice out he went down and helped Jimmy cultivate.  In the afternoon I made Busy a slip.  Jimmy covered potatoes and Johnny fixed the rake.  We had a little thunder shower this afternoon.  At night Busy went away.  At night we had an awful hard thunder shower."

            Fri. June 22: "We did up the housework.  Florence went down with Darflers in the morning to try Latin.  She tried English in the afternoon.  She passed them both, 84%, in both.  In the forenoon the boys both worked on the engine but couldn't get it started.  They worked on the car to. I mended some and Busy started washing the woodwork in the kitchen.  In the afternoon Jimmy & Johnny went to the lower place and finished cultivating and hoeing the potatoes.  Busy & I went down after Florence after school was out.  At night the boys both went away."

            Sat. June 23: "We did up the housework.  I put up Jimmys dinner. Jimmy went to work on the road today.  Johnny took Florence down this morning to try Design.  She passed it, 90%.  She stayed down for the ballgame in the afternoon.  Johnny didn't get back until 11:30.  After he got back he raked up the hay.  We cleaned the woodwork & cupboards in the kitchen.  In the afternoon Johnny went down to the ball game.  He brought Florence home with him.  When they got home Jimmy & Busy were getting a load of hay.  Johnny got the cows. At night Jimmy went away."

            Sun. June 24:  (Busy's handwriting) "We did up the housework.  Iput up Jimmys dinner as he went to work on the road again today." (Florence's handwriting) "Johnny and Florence drew in 2 loads of hay this forenoon.  Johnny finished mowing the clover field today.  We finishing cleaning the cupboard & kitchen and I baked some.  We made ice cream this afternoon to take to Argyle to the Ice Cream Festival tonight.  At nite we went to Argyle.  Jimmy took Ed Star to Glens Falls."

            Mon. June 25: "We did up the housework.  We took 8 little turkeys out of the nest in the horsebarn.  We all went to church except Busy & Jimmy. Busy is not feeling very well today.  Today is Children's Day.  In the afternoon Johnny went away and Hazel, George, and Minnie came down.  They went home about 5:00.  The girls helped Jimmy milk because Johnny didn't come home until night.  At night we all went to Argyle. Busy stayed to Grandma's & the rest went to Baccalaureate Sermon at the church. We had thunder showers during the night."
            Mon. June 26: "We did up the housework.  We did not wash today as it is rainy and the boys couldn't get the engine started in the forenoon.  The rest of the folks went to Glens Falls & I stayed at home.  Jimmy had to see about his insurance.  It was about noon when they got back.  In the afternoon Johnny fixed the car and Johnny got the engine started while Jimmy got the cows.  At night we all stayed at home  The boys went up to Morgans to look at a bull."

            Tues. June 27: "We did up the housework.  In the forenoon the boys went over to Sialinski's, where the house burned, to help clean out the cellar.  I baked some.  In the afternoon the boys raked the hay in the clover field & drawed in one load.  I mended in the afternoon.  Busy got the cows.  At night we all went to Argyle to the Graduation Exercises."

            Wed. June 28: "We did up the housework.  We washed today.  The boys didn't get the engine going until about 10:00.  The boys went up to Clare's to put the heifer back in the field.  The boys finished drawing hay out of the clover field this A.M.  In the afternoon Jimmy mowed the field across the road from the barn.  Johnny took me for a ride on business. Busy & Florence ironed some.  At night we had a thunder shower.  We all went to Argyle, & I stayed with Marion's kids while they went down to a dance at Roy Smith's.  Busy & Florence went with Catherine & Gert Covell."

            Thurs. June 29: "We did up the housework.  The girls finished the ironing.  I baked some.  Jimmy mowed more in the forenoon.  Johnny went up to Pollack's to get his money for mowing & raking the school yard down to the schoolhouse.  In the afternoon the boys raked & drawed in a load of hay.  Busy & Florence piled the old wood in the woodshed.  I mended some.  We had an awful hard thunder shower towards night.  Johnny fixed the post in the woodshed & the cellar stairs.  Jimmy got the cows. We all stayed home at night."

            Fri. June 30: "We did up the housework.  We all went out in the garden and worked.  The boys went down to the lower place and brought the cultivators up.  Marjory, Laurence, Earl, Lois & Roland come up today. We made ice cream.  In the forenoon I baked some.  In the afternoon the boys raked & drawed in a load of hay then they went up cultivated the corn.  Jimmy brought the horses to the barn while Johnny got the cows.  At night Jimmy & Johnny went away.  At night it rained. Earl stayed all night."

            Sat. July 1: "We did up the housework.  It rained hard in the night so the boys thought it would be to wet to cultivate the corn until afternoon.  Johnny picked the cherries.  Jimmy, Earl, & Florence went to Argyle to get the milk check cashed and went on to Glens Falls.  I baked in the forenoon.  In the afternoon the boys cultivated corn.  We tended to the cherries this afternoon.  The boys did chores early and we went to Argyle to a ball game.  We took Earl home."

            Sun. July 2: "We did up the housework.  We went to church.  Before church time the boys took 3 dry cows and 1 calf up back and turned them out with the young cattle.  In the afternoon Johnny took Jimmy's car & went away & didn't come home to help with the chores.  We went up to John Lundy's to see if they had any strawberries, but they were all gone.  Then we went down to the "Oaks" & stayed there a while.  Busy helped Jimmy do the milking.  We went to Argyle at night.  I stayed with Marjory's kids while she went to C. U."

            Mon. July 3: "We did up the housework.  In the forenoon Jimmy finished mowing the field across the road from the barn.  Johnny sharpened the scythe & cut grass around the house.  We took the corn beef out of the barrel & washed it & put it to soak in soda & water.  Busy & Florence went berring up along the old orchard.  We transplanted some cucumbers & set out more tomatoes.  In the afternoon the boys cultivated corn up on the hill back of the house.  Then they raked the hay & drew in a load after they got the chores done at night.  In the afternoon Busy & Florence went down to the lower place berring & got about 7 qts.  We tended to them at night.  The boys went away at night."

            Tues. July 4: "We did up the housework.  I got up about 2 o'clock & set bread to make rolls to take to the picnic at Marion's.  We made ice cream to take down to Marion's.  I baked things to take to the picnic.  We all went to Argyle in our car except Jimmy.  He drove his car.  We had a family picnic at Marion's house today.  All the MacEachrons & Williamsons were there.  They had 3 ball games today.  In the afternoon Ruth got her face hurt by a pistol shot.  Marion & Ed took her out to the Doctors but he didn't think it was anything very serious.  Jimmy, Johnny, Busy came home at chore time.  They all went away at night.  Johnny came back to Argyle and brought Florence & I home."

            Wed. July 5: "We did up the housework.  In the forenoon the boys went up on the hill & cultivated corn.  In the afternoon the boys mowed the field this side of the old cow pasture across from the woods.  I baked some this afternoon.  The girls went berring.  We got about 4 qts.  Frank Hartwell came along & we sold Pie Face & Lily.  Jimmy did chores while Johnny went back down & mowed more.  We all stayed home at night.
            Thurs. July 6: "We did up the housework.  In the forenoon Jimmy mowed & Johnny started the engine & worked on the car. We washed a few things out by hand.  Busy baked some.  In the afternoon the boys raked the hay & drawed in 2 load of hay.  We went to Argyle in the afternoon.  I had to go to the Bank. We saw Mr. Strong down to Argyle this afternoon and decided on some stones for Harold's & Oliver's graves.  After supper the boys did the chores then they drew in another load of hay.  We all stayed home at night."

            Fri. July 7: (Busy's handwriting)  "We did up the housework.  Iput up Jimmys dinner and he went to work on the road.  Johnny mowed some in the field up beside the old cow pasture by Clares.  Idid some baking. And transplanted the aster and zina plants. Florence and Busy went to the lower place and picked some raspberries.  After dinner we canned 4 qt and 4 pt cans of raspberries.  Johnny raked the hay.  Imended.  The girls helped Johnny get a load of hay.  Jimmy came from work and the girls and Johnny & Jimmy got the other load of hay.  Hartwell came and got Lilly and Pie Face.  We had supper. The boys milked.  Johnny and Iwent to Argyle  He went some where else.  The girls and Jimmy went away.  Good day."

            Sat. July 8: "We did up the housework.  Iput up Jimmys dinner and he went to work on the road.  We took the corn beef meat out of the salt water.  And made new brine.  Put the brine on it in the afternoon after letting it soak.  Ibaked pies, cake etc.  Johnny mowed some of the field up beside the lane field the old blue thistle, not good.  In the afternoon he mowed some more and it rained hard and the wind blew terrible hard.  After the rain Johnny finished mowing that piece.  Busy moped the floor.  We made bread today.  We had supper. The boys did chores.  Jimmy went away.  Rained hard in the nite and we had some thunder showers."

            Sun. July 9: "We did up the housework.  We did not go to church.  Jimmy went after the horses as they got out last nite.  And Johnny & Jimmy put the young cattle in as they got out too.  The wind blew the fences down yesterday afternoon." (Florence's handwriting) "We had dinner about noon and got ready & went to Argyle.  Johnny went to Ganesvoort with Ed's folks and we went down & took Mother with us. We got home about 6:00.  Earl, Harold, &  Stanley Smith & Richard Macy came soon after we got home & stayed for supper. We all went to Argyle at night.  I stayed to Grandma's & the rest all went to Church."

            Mon. July 10: "We did up the housework.  We washed this forenoon. Johnny had quite a time getting the engine started & by that time it was raining, but we washed just the same.  The boys went down to Jablonski's to see about getting a bull. They brought it home with them.  After dinner the boys went over to Camp Argyle to an auction and came back to Argyle and brought Eddy home with them.  We didn't do much this afternoon.  I did a little mending.  We had a thunder shower this afternoon.  Bennett the calf-buyer came along & bought Little Flossie's calf.  We all stayed home at night."

            Tues. July 11: "We did up the housework.  In the forenoon Jimmy mowed up in the back field.  Laurence brought Marjory & children up to pick berries.  In the forenoon Busy & Marjory went up on the hill to pick berries.  I was sick & had to go to bed before dinner but was better in the afternoon.  I kept the kids while Marjory, Busy, Florence & Earl went down to the lower place berrying.  They got about 17 qts.  In the afternoon the boys got in one load of hay.  At night Busy & I took Florence, Teresa, & Marion to a 4H Meeting.  Marjory & kids went down to Liddles & stayed until Laurence came after them.

            Wed. July 12: "We did up the housework.  In the forenoon Jimmy mowed up in the field back of the horse pasture & Johnny & Eddy started throwing in wood.  Busy & Florence went down the road toward the woods and picked raspberries.  I baked some.  In the afternoon the boys raked & drawed in hay.  We finished up the ironing.  At night we went to Argyle to a ball game & the rest went over to Roy Smith's to a dance.  I stayed with Marion's kids while her & Ed went.  Eddy went home at night."

            Thurs. July 13: "We did up the housework.  In the forenoon Jimmy mowed some more up on the hill.  Johnny helped freeze ice cream.  Marion & kids came up to the lower place to pick berries & the girls went down and they all came up here for dinner. They got about 14 qts of berries.  In the afternoon the boys raked & drawed in hay.  Ruth & Eddy helped them.  The girls went up on the hill along the fences to pick berries.  Ray stayed with me.  They went home about 4:30.  After supper we went down to the lower place & picked berries.  We got about 6½ qts of berries.  The boys stayed home at night."

            Fri. July 14: "We did up the housework.  I put up Jimmy's dinner and he went to work on the road.  Johnny mowed the field up back of the cow pasture and the field above the clover field.  I made bread.  We canned 7 pts. of berries.  Florence & I made 10 glasses of jelly.  After dinner Johnny raked the hay and the girls helped him draw it in.  At night Busy and Florence went down the road and picked raspberries along the fence.  The boys went away at night.  Johnny went down and played ball at night.  He put his shoulder out of joint."

            Sat. July 15: "We did up the housework.  In the morning Ed brought Helen & Ray up to stay while him & Marion went to a Masonic Picnic and Marjory and kids up to pick berries.  Jimmy wasn't able to go work on the road and Johnny isn't able to do anything with his arm.  I kept Lois & Roland and the rest went down to the lower place to pick berries.  They got about 11 qts.  Marjory canned 7 pts and made 11 glasses of jelly and got a batch of jam ready to make when she went home.  I canned 2 pts. of raspberries and baked some.  We all went down to Argyle at night to take Marjory & kids & Helen & Ray.  We stayed to Marion's until they came home."

            Sun. July 16: "We did up the housework.  We all except Jimmy got ready and went to church.  After we got home we got our picnic lunch ready and all went up to L. Lufkin's to a picnic.  We got home about six o'clock.  There was about 100 there.  The boys did chores and we all went down to Argyle at night. I kept Marjory's kids and she and the rest went to church."

            Mon. July 17: "We did up the housework.  In the forenoon Johnny & the girls polished up the car.  In the afternoon we all except Jimmy went to Glens Falls.  Florence rode Dandy down to the lower place & Jimmy rode down with the rest of us on our way to Glens Falls.  Jimmy cultivated while we were gone.  Mother rode out with us.  The girls got a new dress & pair of shoes.  We got home about 6 o'clock.  We had a flat tire on the way home.  Johnny & Busy fixed it at night.  We all stayed home at night.

            Tues. July 18: "We did up the housework.  In the forenoon Marion, Lill & kids, Mother came up.   Jimmy worked at the potatoes.  Johnny doesn't do much because his arm is sore yet.  They all except Mother & I went down to pick berries.  The girls came up with the boys when they come.  Marion, Lill & kids ate their dinner at the lower place.  They stayed a while after noon.  Jimmy worked at the potatoes in the afternoon.  We went to Salem today.  We took Mother to the cemetary.  We came back here & went to Argyle to take Mother home.  Eddy stayed up.  We all stayed home at night except Busy.  Jimmy went to the lower place to work at potatoes after supper."

            Wed. July 19: "We did up the housework.  Jimmy went to the lower place to work at potatoes in the forenoon.  Johnny  & Eddy fixed the tire.  I did some washing by hand while the girls piled wood.  The boys went to the lower place in the afternoon.  Gert. McKernon came down here & she & Florence rode down with the boys to Liddle's to go to a 4H Meeting.  I cleaned Jimmys good pants.  I baked some.  Busy ironed & piled wood.  At night we all went to Argyle. I stayed with Marjory's kids while she went to a C. U. picnic at Pendergrasses.  The rest went to a dance over to the Lake.  Eddy went home tonight."

            Thurs. July 20: "Florence is 14 today.  We did up the housework.  In the forenoon I made some pies.  It rained some in the morning.  Toward noon the boys and Busy tried to start the engine but couldn't start it.  In the afternoon the boys went to the lower place to work at the potatoes.  They came home about 4:30 and We made ice cream.  We cracked walnuts for Florence's birthday cake.  We went to Argyle at night."

            Fri. July 21: "We did up the housework.  I put up Jimmy's dinner and he went to work on the road.  Johnny went to the lower place & finished covering the potatoes.  The girls went down with him & picked berries.  We got about 6½ qts.  I baked.  The girls came home around 10:30 & Johnny stayed to finish covering the potatoes.  He brought the team home at noon. It rained some before noon.  In the afternoon Johnny mowed some in the orchard.  I got a batch of jars ready to make.  The girls went to Argyle to play ball. We had a hard thunder shower at night.  After supper the boys brought the horse fork over & put it up in the horse barn.  We all stayed home at night."

            Sat. July 22: "We did up the housework.  I put up Jimmy's dinner and he went to work on the road.  We worked in the garden in the forenoon.  I made some pies and Busy made a cake.  In the afternoon Johnny raked the hay  he mowed in the orchard.  Busy swept & mopped the floor.  Earl went to sleep with me.  I didn't feel good before dinner and went to bed.  About 3:00 o'clock I got up & felt better. I mended some.  Busy & Florence bunched the hay that Johnny raked & helped unload a load of hay that had been in the barn.  After Jimmy got home from working on the road the girls helped him draw in the hay while Johnny went after the cows.  At night we all went to the McIntyre picnic.  Earl took his things to go home."

            Sun. July 23: "About 100º at Argyle.   We did up the housework.  We didn't get up very early in the morning and the cows were out.  The boys had to look for them.  Busy got a lunch ready and went away on a trip with Lester.  Johnny, Florence & I went to church but didn't stay for Sunday School.  Jimmy, Johnny. Rachael, Beverly & Florence went to Lake Sunnyside in the afternoon.  I stayed to Mother's & Marion's.  At night Jimmy, Johnny, Beverly & Florence went to church.  Jimmy drove the Nash home.  Florence & I come with him.  Johnny took Jimmy's car & took Beverly home."

            Mon. July 24: "We did up the housework.  We washed.  Johnny went to Fred Darfler's and got a battery to start the engine with but couldn't get it started.  We washed mostly by hand.  Johnny went down to get John Liddles battery but it was over to Brown's.  He went over after it.  Brown came up with him & brought some batteries.  They got the engine started & we washed the last washer with the Washing Machine.  Jimmy finished mowing the orchard & the field by the lower house.  They raked them up & drawed them in in the afternoon.  The clothes all got dry.  very hot day but more breeze than there was yesterday.  At night it got cooler. Busy & Florence piled & threw in wood.  We all stayed home at night."

            Tues. July 25: "We did up the housework." (Busy's handwriting) "And did all the ironing except Iironed Johnnys pants.  Idid the baking.  Jimmy mowed some of the field behind the cow barn.  Johnny did afew things here.  In the afternoon the girls helped the boys draw in the hay and they broke the timber the horse fork track was fastened to. Imended in the afternoon.  The boys went away at nite.  The girls finished throwing in the wood all except the little round.  Then they picked more beans.  Icut up beans.  Warm day but cloudy all day.  No sunshine today."

            Wed. July 26: "We did up the housework.  Jimmy got George Herzig to come up and help fix the track.  Johnny mowed some more in the field behind cow barn.  Idid some baking.  Around 12:15 Jimmy took Florence down to Randles corners to meet Marion and children as to go with them to Billiken to Sabbath School Picnic.  In the afternoon Busy helped the boys draw in hay.  Iam not feeling very well today.  Very Very lame back.  Imended some.  At nite Johnny and Busy went to Argyle to play soft ball and brought Florence home.  Jimmy mowed some up on the side hill behind the cow barn after they did chores.  Very good day. In the forenoon we canned 7 pt cans of beans.  Cold this morning.  I made 7 glasses of Jam this morning."

            Thurs. July 27: "We did up the housework.  Imended.  Busy did some baking. Florence washed afew clothes.  The boys cultivated some corn up on the hill above the clover field.  In the afternoon the boys raked and drew in the day.  And cultivated more corn.  The girls went to lower place and got afew raspberries.  Imended some.  A very good day.  Busy got the cows.  We had supper.  The boys milked.  At nite the boys went to Argyle.  Florence went too, to meet Moores as she is going down to stay with Beverly awhile."

            Fri. July 28: "We did up the housework.  Iput up Jimmys lunch and he went to work on the road.  Johnny mowed up on the top of the hill behind the cow barn beside corn field.  Ibaked some.  Busy picked around 12 qts of garden black berries.  In the afternoon Ilayed down a while as my back is very lame.  Busy helped Johnny get just one load of hay.  Johnny raked it, left some laying as it wasn't much good so they had only one load.  We had supper. The boys milked.  We went to Argyle.  The boys went some place else and we waited to Marions for them.  Good day.  Sunshone very warm."

            Sat. July 29: "We did up the housework.  The boys went up to the cow pasture after Elsie and her calf but could not find the calf so left them.  Then they finished cultivating the corn.  Ibaked. And made 5 glasses of blackberrie Jelly.  Busy swept and moped the kitchen floor. The boys tried to start the engine but did not get it done.  Then Johnny and Busy went to grange picnic at the Oaks.  Jimmy and Ihad dinner. Jimmy went to see about getting a reaper.  Florence and Beverly were at the picnic.  Johnny and Busy got home around 6.  The boys milked. We had supper. Jimmy went away.  Johnny and Iwent to Argyle.  Busy went away.  Very good, quite hot."

            Su. July 30: "We did up the housework. We did not go to church.  The boys went up in the cow pasture and got Elsie and her calf.  Around 10:30 Johnny went down to Moores and went with them and Florence to Hadlock Pond to a picnic.  Jimmy went away too.  We had dinner around 2:30.  Busy and I stayed home today.  Johnny, Florence and Beverly came home around 6.  The girls helped Johnny with chores.  Very hot day.  Wind blew very warm.  Around 7 it rained some.  We went for aride down around the lake, came home, Johnny took Beverly home.  Jimmy came home."

            Mon. July 31: "We did up the housework.  Johnny mowed the steep side hill down below the field behind the barn.  Jimmy did a few things.  Ifixed ice cream.  Jimmy got ice and froze the ice cream.  Florence and Busy picked around 12 quarts of garden blackberries.  In the afternoon the boys raked and drew in the hay.  Haying all done at home now.  Imended in the afternoon.  We had supper. The boys milked. We all went to Argyle at nite.  Seymour Hills came over this noon and shod King."

            Tues. Aug. 1: "We did up the housework.  Iput up Jimmys dinner and he went to work on the road.  Johnny took mowing machine and rake to lower place and mowed the little field above where the house used to be.  We washed a lot of clothes by hand.  Ibaked some.  In the afternoon the girls went with Johnny to lower place.  Took hay rack behind car.  Johnny raked up the hay.  The girls bunched it up.  They loaded it on.  The girls came up with the car.  Johnny brought the load of hay up. The girls helped him unload.  All thru haying now.  Imended this afternoon.  It started raining around 5.  We had supper. The boys milked Ihelepd Florence cover her 4H sowing box.  The girls and Johnny went to H. Mahaffys."

            Wed. Aug. 2: "We did up the housework.  Iput up Jimmys dinner as he went to work on the road.  Johnny and girls ground the knives for reaper.  Johnny went to lower place to reap but did not reap any this forenoon. Ibaked quite a lot.  The girls picked 6 at of black berries and went to lower place after Johnny. After dinner Busy took Johnny to lower place, he had to go to Jablonskis to get a part for reaper.  So reaped this afternoon.  Florence, Busy, Gertrude McK., Louise N., Marion L., Gert. C. all went to Bristols to a 4H meeting.  Johnny came up with Jimmy.  We had supper. The girls got home shortly after 6.  Johnny and girls went to Argyle as Johnny played soft ball.  Jimmy and Iwent to Crosiers and to Argyle.  The rest went to a dance over to the lake.  Istayed at Marions."

            Thurs. Aug. 3: "We did up the housework.  Iput up Jimmys dinner as he went to work on the road.  Johnny went to lower place to reap.  Ibaked some and cut up string beans.  The girls picked around 7 quarts of black berries.  In the afternoon the girls and I took Johnny to lower place and then we went to Will Crosiers funeral at 2 D.S.T.  We took Edna Liddle home and got Johnny from the lower place.  He did not reap as it rained. Rained hard shortly after the funeral and until dark.  Rained alittle during funeral.  Johnny got cows.  We had supper. The boys milked.  Icanned 4 pt cans of beans this forenoon.  Liddles brought Earl up to stay all nite.  We all stayed home at nite. Rained nearly at nite."

            Fri. Aug. 4: "We did up the housework.  The boys went to the lower place and mowed some oats.  Ibaked some.  Florence cracked walnuts for cake frosting.  Busy swept some.  In the afternoon the boys went to lower place and finished mowing the oats and reap some but broke reaper.  They fixed it.  The girls got the cows.  At nite Jimmy went away.  The rest of us went to Argyle.  Earl went home.  Johnny went away, we had to wait for him at Marions.  Very good day, sunshone warm.  Jimmy turned some oats this afternoon while Johnny was reaping."

            Sat. Aug. 5: "We did up the housework.  The boys went to lower place to work with oats, they were wet as it rained this morning.  The horses were out, they found them and brought them up here. They fixed the hay rack to draw oats.  Ibaked this forenoon.  Busy moped.  Florence made cake.  After dinner awhile it rained some.  3 or 4 times rained a little in afternoon.  Sunshone some too.  Around 3 Jimmy took team and hay rack to lower place.  They finished reaping the oats.  The girls got the cows.  We had supper. The boys milked.  We went to Argyle and Fort Edward for grocerys at nite.  Busy went away.  Icanned 4 pt cans of string beans this forenoon."

            Sun. Aug. 6: (Florence's handwriting) "We did up the housework.  We all went to church.  Roland McW. was baptized also 4 other children.  Marjory & kids came up with us from church as Laurence had to help Maurice Kilmer.  In the afternoon all except Jimmy went up to Clare's after the horses.  Later we all went down to see where they were making the new road through the field by Claytons'  On the way back Johnny stopped & brought the cows up.  At night we all went to Argyle.  I went to Mother's and Marion's, Marjory & kids went home, the rest went to church.  Johnny was leader."

            Mon. Aug. 7: "We did up the housework.  Florence & I did the baking.  Around 10:00 Marjory & kids came up here.  Laurence stopped at the lower place to help the boys with the oats.  Ed, Francis & Bob Starr, Cliff, Howard Mahaffy, & Joe Crosier helped the boys in the forenoon.  They brought up 3 loads of oats.  They were here for dinner.  After dinner a while Bob & Leslie Bain came to thrash.  They brought up 4 loads in the afternoon and got them all thrashed.  After supper the boys & Starr boys dumped the oats.  They had about 140 bu.  Marjory, Laurence, & kids went home after supper.  All except me went to Argyle.  Jimmy & the girls came home after the ball game.  Marjory and Busy picked some garden black berries in the afternoon."

            Tues. Aug. 8: "We did up the housework.  Johnny fixed tire & the boys chored around because it rained hard about all forenoon.  Florence & I baked some.  In the afternoon Johnny went down after Mr. Brown to help him start the engine.  After they got it started he took Mr. Brown back home.  Busy & Florence picked blackberries & piled wood & I mended.  At night the boys went away."

            Wed. Aug. 9: "We did up the housework.  The boys went to Mahaffy's to help thrash oats.  We went up to Hazel's and spent the day.  We got home about 5:00.  Busy & Florence got the cows.  At night we all went to Argyle.  I stayed to Marion's while the rest went over to the lake to a dance.  It was quite cool."

            Thurs. Aug. 10: "We did up the housework.  The boys went to Starr's to help thrash their oats.  We washed today.  In the afternoon the girls did the ironing & I mended & baked some.  The girls got the cows.  Johnny came home about 5:30.  The girls helped him milk.  Jimmy brought the team home about 6:30 and after he had his supper he went back over to Starr's & helped dump the oats.  At night all except Jimmy went to Argyle to a ballgame."

            Fri. Aug. 11: "We did up the housework.  Busy picked the beans & her and Florence cut them up.  I baked cookies and pies.  The girls dug some early potatoes for the first time.  The girls picked the blackberries.  We canned some beans.  Jimmy went to work on the road.  Johnny took the team and went down to John Liddle's to help with the oats.  In the afternoon Busy swept and mopped.  I mended some.  The girls cleaned the car.  The boys got home about 5 o'clock.  They went away at night."

            Sat. Aug. 12: "We did up the housework.  I baked and we all got ready and went to a 4H picnic at Lake Hadlock.  We had trouble with our tires and had to wait until it stopped raining to change them.  We got home about 6:00.  Busy and Jimmy went away at night."

            Sun. Aug. 13: "We did up the housework.  We had quite a hard thunder shower before church time.  After the shower we all got ready & went to church.  After we got home from church & had our dinner Johnny went away & didn't come back to help do the chores.  We had hard thunder showers all afternoon.  Lester came down in afternoon. Jimmy got the cows.  The girls helped him milk.  At night Busy went away."

            Mon. Aug. 14: "We did up the housework.  In the forenoon Busy & Florence piled and I baked.  The boys went to Glens Falls to see about some tires & selling potatoes.  In the afternoon Busy and Florence piled chunks in the Wagon House.  I put some more dirt around the big geranium.  We cut grass & weeds around the house.  The boys took 2 calves up & put them in the pasture with the young cattle.  Jimmy got the cows.  After supper we picked the cucumbers.  We all stayed home at night. It rained a while in the morning."

            Tues. Aug. 15: "We did up the housework.  I put up Jimmys lunch & he went to work on the road.  We washed some clothes out by hand.  I baked some.  Johnny cleaned out the milk vat in the milk house & after dinner the girls went with Johnny down to the schoolhouse to get water to put in the milk vat.  The girls picked the blackberries in the forenoon and I canned 2 qts. 5 pt of cucumber pickles.  In the afternoon the girls did the ironing and I picked over beans.  Johnny helped me some.  Johnny got the cows.  After supper we went to Argyle to a ballgame Florence went to a 4H meeting with Liddle's."

            Wed. Aug. 16: "We did up the housework.  The boys went to Belcher to see about getting some tires but there wasn't anyone home.  The boys cut weeds around the house after they got back.  I made some blackberry jelly.  In the forenoon I telephoned to Watkins to have some flowers sent out for Mr. Yarter's funeral.  In the afternoon we went to Argyle.  Busy & Florence stayed to Marion's while the rest of us went to Mr. Yarter's funeral.  We went home after the service at the cemetary.  We stopped to Marions & got Busy. She went to the cemetary with us.  We went to Argyle at night.  I stayed with Marion's kids while She & Ed went over to the Lake to a dance. The rest went to."

            Thurs. Aug. 17: "We did up the housework.  Busy & Florence helped Jimmy do the milking as Johnny didnt come home last night.  I put up Jimmy's lunch & he went to work on the road.  In the forenoon Busy & Florence put in the pile of little wood.  I cut up & cooked the string beans.  It  rained hard after they got the wood in.  Marjory & Laurence & kids came & Roland stayed here while they went to the Williamson picnic.  Johnny came up with them.  It was at Beveridges.  Johnny & the girls & Roland went up to Clare's to get our little calves that had just been turned out.  Marjory & Laurence came back here from the picnic & took Roland home.  Earl stayed.  Johnny got the cows.  After supper we went to Argyle to a ball game.  Earl & Eddy came home with us for a while.  We came home after the ball game."

            Fri. Aug. 18: "We did up the housework.  I put up Jimmy's lunch & he went to work on the road.  In the forenoon Florence & I baked some.  Busy swept up stairs.  It rained some this forenoon.  We had a thunder shower about chore time.  At night Jimmy went away.  The rest of us went up to Belcher to Berton Wrye's and got a tire for the Nash."

            Sat. Aug. 19: "We did up the housework.  In the forenoon Busy & I baked quite a lot.  Busy picked the blackberries and the beans.  Johnny fixed the tires on the Nash.  In the afternoon I canned 2 qt. 1 pt of Cucumber pickles.  Busy mopped. & washed the windows in the kitchen.  The boys took the pigs from the Horse Barn over to the Hog Pen.  The girls went out & played ball with Earl & Eddy.  The boys went away at night."

            Mon. Aug. 20: "We did up the housework.  Busy went on a picnic with Lester.  The rest of us went to Church.  Eddy & Earl both went home. After church we went for a ride.  Beverley M. & Lois went with us.  Jimmy went away & didn't come home to help do chores.  Florence helped Johnny milk.  We went to Argyle at night.  I kept Marjory's kids while she, Florence, Beverley & Johnny went to C. U. "

            Tues. Aug. 21: "We did up the housework.  We did the washing.  Johnny & Jimmy went to Glens Falls to look at a car.  In the afternoon The girls did part of the ironing.  I mended.  Jimmy took Jablonski's bull back this afternoon.  The girls went down after him.  The boys went up on the hill & cut & brought down a small load of corn to feed the cows.  Johnny got the cows.  The clothes didn't all get dry because it has been cloudy & damp.  We all stayed home at night.  The rest of the folks played ball a while."

            Wed. Aug. 22: "We did up the housework.  I put up Jimmy's lunch and he went to work on the road.  Around 9 o'clock it rained and Jimmy came back home.  Florence and I baked some in the forenoon. Busy picked the cucumbers & string beans.  In the afternoon the boys went up back where the young cattle pasture and brought the red cow down.  We worked in the garden and transplanted the Asters & Zinnias.  At night the boys went away.  Johnny played soft ball at Greenwich."

            Thurs. Aug. 23: "We did up the housework.  Jimmy went up to H. Foster's to pick potatoes.  Busy did some baking.  We canned 5½ pts. of cucumber pickles and 4 pts. of string beans.  The girls helped Johnny & Bob Starr take 2 cows & the big heifer up to pasture with the young cattle.  In the forenoon Johnny went to the lower place and got the mowing machine.  In the afternoon I ironed the boys pants.  The girls picked the blackberries & got some Elderberries.  At night we all went over to the lake to a dance.  It rained at night."

            Fri. Aug. 24: "We did up the housework.  Busy made some pies.  It is a very rainy day.  Rained hard all day. At night we had company, Starr's folks came over to play cards.  Lester came down."

            Sat. Aug. 25: "We did up the housework.  It rained a little in the morning. I baked some. Busy swept up stairs.  The boys went down to the lower place to dig a few potatoes.  After dinner we all went to Argyle.  Jennie was down there.  We stayed down while the boys came home and did the chores.  They went away at night and came back and brought us home."

            Sun. Aug. 26: "We did up the housework.  I put up Jimmy's lunch and he went to work on the road.  Johnny went up to Foster's to pick potatoes.  About 8:15 Viola Scally came over and waited for the milk man to come.  Busy mixed bread.  Florence & I baked some.  We made buns.  In the afternoon Busy swept and mopped.  I mended some stockings.  At night Jimmy & Busy went away.  It has been a good day.  Quite warm."

            Mon. Aug. 27: "We did up the housework.  We all went to church except Johnny. He went away for the day.  Marjory & children came home with us from church.  In the afternoon we went for a ride.  Jimmy got the cows. The girls helped him milk.  We all went Argyle at night.  Marjory & children went home."

            Tues. Aug. 28: "We did up the housework.  I put up Jimmy's lunch and he went to work on the road.  After Johnny got the engine started he went up to Foster's to pick potatoes. We did the washing.  Johnny came home after noon a while to mow the hay but it looked too rainy so he went down to Liddles to see about filling silo. We did the ironing & I mended. At night Jimmy went up to D. Fosters to get some potatoes.  We went to Argyle & Johnny went to South Argyle to play Soft Ball.  Helen came home with us to stay a few days.  It rained hard a while after supper."

Aug. 29: "Jimmy and I got up at 5:00 o'clock.  I put up his lunch & he got his breakfast and he took 12 bushel of potatoes out to Glens Falls to sell.  He came back to Argyle & went to work on the road.  Busy helped Johnny do the chores.  We made ice cream.  Florence & I baked.  Busy went down after Jennie & Mother.  Johnny mowed the clover feild down here today.  In the afternoon we took Mother & Jen up to visit her old home on the hill.  We stopped at Jim Sloan's a while.  We went on up to Kenneth & Lydia's & stayed quite a while.  We came back by Barkley's & stopped there a while.  At night we took Jimmie & Mother back to Argyle."

            Wed. Aug. 30: "We did up the housework.  Florence & I baked some. Busy picked the cucumbers.  Johnny raked the hay. After dinner Helen  & Busy took Florence down to Liddle's to go to a 4H meeting at Fowler's.  In the afternoon Helen & Busy helped Johnny get in one big load of hay.  Jimmy went to work on the road today.  At night we all went to Argyle to a base ball game.  Johnny brought us home & him & Beverly went to a dance at the lake.  Helen went home to stay tonight."

            Thurs. Aug 31: "We did up the housework.  I baked some & got the cucumbers ready to make pickles. Busy & Florence set out some flowers that Leona Barkley gave Busy yesterday.  The boys finished drawing in the hay down in the clover field.  In the afternoon Jimmy went to Glens Falls & traded his car for a 1929 Chevrolets sedan.  Johnny went up to Foster's to pick potatoes.  I made new brine for the meat. The girls went down on the flat and got 2 milk pails of elderberries.  We picked them over this afternoon.  Johnny got the cows.  At night we all went for a ride in Jimmy's new car."

            Fri. Sept. 1: "We did up the housework.  I put up Jimmy's lunch & he went to work on the road.  In the forenoon Lester Lufkin came down & shod the horses.  Johnny went up in the corn field & brought a load down.  I cooked a 2 gal. jar of elderberries. Florence made candy.  In the afternoon the girls gathered up the brush on the bank out back of the house and burned it.  Johnny got the cows early & let them eat down in the clover field a while.  At night Busy, Jimmy & Johnny went away."

            Sat. Sept. 2: "We did up the housework. Jimmy & I went up to Gilchrist's to get some tomatoes.  Johnny went out to the Fair Grounds to work.  Busy & I baked. Florence washed the windows in the kitchen & setting room.  Jimmy polished.  He went to Argyle after noon and got more polish. We made ice cream.  Marjory & children came up about noon.  They drove our car up as Johnny rode out to the Fair Grounds with Laurence.  I made bread.  We canned 11 pts. of tomatoes & 1 qt. 1 pt of elderberries. & 2 qt. & 1 pt of cucumber pickles.  Busy swept & mopped. Florence rode down with Marjory when she went home & came back with Johnny.  We all went away at night."

            Sun. Sept. 3: "We did up the housework.  All except Jimmy & Busy went to church. They went somewhere else.  We stayed down from Church.  Had dinner at Mother's.  Johnny went to Hudson Falls to play ball.  It rained some.  We came home about six o'clock.  Johnny got the cows.  Florence helped him milk.  Jack & Eva came along and stopped a while.  We did not go down to Christian Union at night.  I rained some in the afternoon & harder at night."

            Mon. Sept. 4: "We did up the housework.  Johnny went out to the Fair to work.  Jimmy watched the cows in the old orchard & clover field a while.  After he took the cows to pasture he simonized his car.  In the afternoon we cracked & picked out butternuts.  We cut up & cooked a pumpkin.  Jimmy got the cows then he went up & got a load of corn.  Busy helped him milk as Johnny stayed out to the Fair for the Evening Preformances.  We all stayed home at night."

            Tues. Sept. 5: (Busy's handwriting)  "We did up the housework.  I made pumpkin pies and cake.  Florence rode to school with Darflers.  We put up our dinner and all went to the fair, left home around 10:15 school was out when we got to Argyle so we got Florence and went to fair.  Jimmy drove his car. We all came home but Jimmy.  He stayed for nite.  We got home shortly after 7.  Johnny got the cows and they were in corn.  The girls helped him milk.  A very good day."

            Wed. Sept. 6: "We did up the housework.  Iput up the boys & Florences dinners.  Busy & Itook Florence to school and went to Marjorys and brought Earl, Lois & Roland home with us to keep them today, sos Marjory & Laurence can go to the fair.  After we got the the boys went to fair in Jimmys car.  Ibaked more pumpkin pies.  We washed some clothes out by hand.  Imade a roll Jelly cake.  Around 4 Busy & I took the children down home, Marj & Laurence had not got home from fair so we left them at McWhorters. Brought Florence home from school  Busy got the cows.  The boys came from fair and did the milking.  Around 1 it rained about 15 minutes.  And started to rain around 4. and rained most all evening.  We all stayed home at nite."

            Thurs. Sept. 7: "We did up the housework.  Iput up Johnnys & Florences dinners. Busy and Itook Florence to school and Johnny went with us down to go to the fair with Laurence.  Jimmy did a few things around here. (Picked tomatoes)  Imade pies and cakes.  Busy did the ironing.  We canned 2 quarts of tomatoes.  In the afternoon we got our supper ready and around 4 Busy and Iwent to Argyle, Florence was out from school so we got her and Marjory and Earl and went to the fair.  Jimmy stayed home and did chores and came out at nite.  Big crowd at nite and a nice afternoon, also nite."

            Fri. Sept. 8: "We did up the housework.  Iput up Jimmys, Johnnys and Florences dinners.  Jimmy went to work on the road.  Johnny took Florence to school and went to the fair.  We did not do very much.  It is a very good day.  Imended some.  Busy got the cows.  Johnny came from fair and brought Florence from school.  The boys did chores. Jimmy went away.  The rest of us all went to Argyle and all except Johnny went to church to Preparetory Service.  Mr. Crosby preached.  We had to wait after the service as Florence and the rest of the Communicans class had to meet with the session & Mr. King.  Rained very, very hard coming home. Foggy.  a not very hard thunder shower."

            Sat. Sept. 9: "We did up the housework.  I put up Jimmys dinner but he did not go to work as it was to wet.  Imade pies. cake & cookies.  We made bread & buns.  In the afternoon Icanned a few elderberries. Florence swept & Busy moped kitchen floor. The boys did a few things around here.  And in the afternoon Johnny went to Argyle after groceries and brought Marion and the children up to stay all nite as Ed has gone up north over Sunday with some other men.  We had supper, the boys milked.  Jimmy went away.  A  pretty good day."

            Sun. Sept. 10: "Rained hard in the nite. We did up the housework.  We got ice cream all ready to freeze.  Johnny, Busy, Florence and Iwent to church.  Florence joined the church, 5 boys, 2 girls & Mrs. King.  Jimmy, Marion & kids froze the ice cream.  We had dinner. Jimmy went away.  In the afternoon Marjory, Laurence and children came up.  A car came along from W. Hebron and went up the road, along by the mail box it run over Teddy.  Broke no bones Iguess, but seems to be in pain.  Johnny got the cows.  Dotie was choked.  Had an apple in her throat.  Johnny & Laurence could not get it out, so Johnny went down after H. Mahaffy.  They did not get it out.  So Icalled Frank McLenithen and he came over.  They got it out. Cora & Leona came over too.  They went home.  Johnny took Howard home.  Marion & children rode home with Marj, Laurence & children. The girls helped Jimmy milk.  Good day but kinda cool evening.
            Mon. Sept. 11: "32º above zero   We did up the housework.  Iput up Jimmys dinner and he went to work on the road.  Florence rode to school with Darflers.  We did a big washing.  Johnny did some things around home and went up to Clares to see about filling silo.  Imade a pie and cupcakes this afternoon.  Busy and Idid the ironing all except the white table cloth.  Busy went after Florence from school.  Imended some this afternoon.  After supper Iwashed the cucumbers.  It has been a pretty good day.  The clothes all got dry.  The wind blew cold most all day.  Johnny went down to Liddles at nite to see about filling silo.  Teddy seems to be pretty good today.  Kinda stiff and lame but alright otherwise."

            Tues. Sept 12: "White Frost    We did up the housework.  I put up Jimmys dinner and he went to work on the road.  Busy was going to take Florence to school but could not start the car.  R. Clare pushed it to school house.  Johnny could not start it when he went down, Roland McD. came along and towed him so it started.  Icolored Johnnys white sweater blue.  Busy made pies.  Imade cake.  Around 11:30 Johnny took Florence to Argyle to school, she went to Marj's. Johnny put new points in car at filling station, came home, we had dinner around 1:30.  Johnny went up on the hill after a load of corn.  R. Clare brought ensilage cutter & pipe.  Then John, Edna, Dorothy, & Herbie came up.  John & Herbie helped Johnny put up the pipe.  Ralph Clare tractor came and they put one load of corn thru.  We canned 4 pt cans of tomatoes. 2 pt and 1 qt can of cucumber pickles.  The Liddle kids came here from school.  They all went home around 5.  We had supper. The boys did chores.  Florence went to Marjorys after school for supper.  M. L & kids brought her home around 8 and stayed awhile."

            Wed. Sept. 13: " We did up the housework.  The boys went over to Stars to help them fill silo today.  Busy and Itook Florence to school.  Ibaked some.  At noon the boys came home after team to take over to Starrs.  Lillian Day came down to use the telephone. Busy went after Florence from school and took some wood down to Mothers.  They had a flat tire coming home. Busy got the cows. We had supper. The boys milked.  and went away at nite.  A pretty good day."

            Thurs. Sept. 14: "We did up the housework. The boys took Florence to school.  We baked some. But did not do very much as it rained and was quite dark.  We had dinner.  Hazel, George and Minnie came down in the afternoon.  After school the boys brought Florence home from school as they had not been home since they took Florence to school this morning as they went to Glens Falls and got a new tire for the nash.  Hazel, George and Minnie went home around 4:30.  The boys went up to Gilchrists after a heifer that got out and took up a heifer that came down here in the back pasture and brought black cow & calf down.  We had supper. The boys milked, not raining any more around 5.  cloudy."

            Fri. Sept. 15: "Jimmy was sick in nite last nite.  We did up the housework. Busy took Florence to school   The cows were all out this morning and up to Mahaffy place except black cow went up on the hill by the young cattle, so time Johnny got her after breakfast, the boys didn't go with team over to Stars to help fill silo until nearly 10 o'clock.  Imended and Busy baked some.  In the afternoon I mended.  Busy went to Argyle after Florence & Teresa.  Jimmy brought the team home and Johnny came over across the fields and got the cows.  He brought them all up except black cow, she was sick.  Icalled Frank McLenithen, Johnny went over after him, they went down in the field and he doctored her for milk Fever.  When they got ready to come and leave her, she got up and followed them, so they brought her to the barn.  Jimmy took Frank home.  Johnny went away for supper. The girls helped Jim milk.  Jim went away  A very good day."

            Sat. Sept. 16: "We did up the housework. The boys went to Starrs to help fill silo.  We cooked pumpkin.  4 of the young cattle came down so the girls put them in the barn.  Busy made cake.  Imade pies & brown bread.  Florence washed & ironed some of her clothes.  We had dinner around 1.  Imended some. Busy moped the floor.  Johnny came from Stars and brought cows out of corn.  Jimmy brought the team home.  We had supper. The boys milked.  Johnny and Busy went away.  A pretty fair day, but very wet this morning as it rained hard last nite and some after we got up awhile., cloudy quite a bit of the day."

            Sun. Sept. 17: "We did up the housework.  The boys took the young cattle up in back cow pasture.  We all went to church except Busy. We did not stay for Sabbath School.  The young cattle were out again when we came home from church, the boys put them in the barn and put pokes on them and put them up in pasture again.  We had dinner. Jimmy went away.  a very good day.  Johnny looked after the cows and went up to see about the young cattle and fixed the fence.  He got the cows and Florence helped him milk.  We all stayed home at nite."

            Mon. Sept. 18: "We did up the housework.  Florence rode to school with Darflers.  The boys went to Stars to help fill silo, did not take the team today.  We mended some in the forenoon. Ipicked the ripe tomatoes.  We had dinner around 1.  And went to Argyle as Ihad to go a few places and do  some errands.  We brought Florence from school  The girls put the cows in.  It started raining after we got home and rained about 15 mins.  We had supper. The boys milked.  We all went to Argyle except Jimmy.  We went to Marjorys to stay with the children as Marj & Laurence were envited over to McW's to a party for Tomas Mack as he leaves town tomorrow.  Florence stayed to Marjorys all nite.  The rest of us got home around 12 o'clock."

            Tues. Sept. 19: "We did up the housework. The boys went to Stars to help fill silo again, took team today.  Imade cookies and cupcakes.  Busy mended some. We had dinner. Imended some in the afternoon. Busy went to Argyle after Florence from school.  The girls got the cows. We had supper. The boys milked.  We all stayed home at nite.  A pretty good day.  We washed out some clothes by hand and ironed them too, today."

            Wed. Sept. 20: "We did up the housework.  Johnny took the team and went to Clares and helped fill his silo.  Jimmy went to Stars in forenoon.  The girls picked the sweet corn. Busy took Florence to school.  We husked corn and cut it off etc, and canned 8 pts. and 2 qt cans.  (cooked 3 hours).  Johnny came from Clares around 4 so went to Argyle after Florence from school.  He went to Marjorys and got her canner so we canned 7 quart cans of corn in it. (cooked 3 hours).  Very busy all day with the corn.  Jimmy came home for dinner and went to H. Mahaffys in the afternoon to work with the corn.  The boys got a load of corn. We had supper.  The boys milked.  Johnny went away.  The Starr boys came over with Eds old car and put the load of corn in the silo.  A very funny day.  Some thundering, rain, wind, sunshine and everything.  Imade a cake in P.M."

            Thurs. Sept. 21: "We did up the housework.  Iput up Florences and Johnnys dinner. Johnny took Florence to school and went over in Vermont somewhere to a fair with a bunch of boys from Argyle.  Jimmy took the team and went to Howard Mahaffys to help fill silo.  We husked the rest of the sweet corn and cut it off.  canned it all (3 qts &  2 pts.) cooked it for 3 hours.  We had dinner around 1.  Imade a cake & pie.  Busy picked a barrell of apples, and the cucumbers, and got the cows.  We had supper. Iwashed dishes.  Busy helped Jimmy milk.  Florence stayed to Marions after school and all nite.  Jimmy went up and cut a load of corn after they got thru milking.  This afternoon and nite Imade Florence a pair of pajamas.  A pretty good day."

            Fri. Sept. 22: "We did up the housework.  The boys went to Mahaffys to help fill silo, came home around 10:30.  Clif & Ed Starr came with them.  So the 4 of them cut some corn and got 2 loads, before we had dinner. In the forenoon I canned 1 qt & 2 pt cans of pickles.  Busy made pies.  Clare came down shortly after dinner with his tractor, they put thru 2 loads of corn and the cutter broke.  So Ed Starr and Jimmy went to Glens Falls to get the part.  Mary and I went to Argyle after Florence from school and took some wood to Mother's.  Iwent to Mrs. Durkees.  It rained hard while we were going down but soon stopped. After we got home Marjory, Laurence and children came up and stayed for Supper. The boys milked.  Jimmy went away.  Earl stayed up all nite. A funny day.  Some rain, sunshine and cloudy."

            Sat. Sept. 23: "We did up the housework. Clare came down and they put the new part on the cutter and then put thru 2 or 3 loads of corn.  Ed Starr came over. They took the pipe and ensilage down and R. Clare took it up there and took his tractor too.  The boys went up with him to help set it up.  And fix some fence where young cattle got out.  Imade pies.  In the afternoon the boys & Ed Starr picked off corn.  Imade cookies, Busy made cake.  Icanned  pt. can of beets, Florence put Earl to sleep. Busy moped the floor. Florence looked over magazines to get some pictures for a French I poster. We had supper. Busy helped Jimmy milk as Johnny hurt his hand cranking the car this morning.  Busy went away   Earl went home with her.  The rest of us and Ed Starr went to Argyle. We voted as today is Republican Caucas.  The boys & Ed Starr went to the show.  Florence and Istayed to Marions.  Ed MacE. was nominated collector by a majority of 91 votes.  Good day."

            Sun. Sept. 24: "We did up the housework.  The boys went up and put in the young cattle and fixed fence.  Florence made her poster. We all except Johnny went to church in Jimmys car.  Johnny went away in the Nash.  We did not stay for Sabbath School.  We stopped to Mothers and Marions while Jimmy went out after Rachel.  We came home and had dinner. Jimmy and Rachel went for aride in the afternoon.  When they came home Jimmy got the cows.  The girls helped him milk.  We all went to Argyle.  Ikept Marjorys children and she went to church with Florence and Busy.  Jimmy took Rachel home.  A pretty good day."

            Mon. Sept. 25: "We did up the housework.  The boys took the team and went to Mahaffys to help fill silo.  Florence rode to school with Darflers.  We did the washing.  Icut up crabbapples and cooked 2 dish pans full for Jelly.  Busy did the ironing, except Iironed the white tablecloth.  A very good day, the clothes all got dry.  Imended some.  Busy went to Argyle after Florence from school.  We had supper. The boys milked.  Ihave a very sore and lame swellin ankle.  Mr. Lundburg came this afternoon to see about selling a set of batterys for the Electric Light Plant.  And came back again at nite.  We ordered a set to come in 2 or 3 weeks."

            Tues. Sept. 26: "We did up the housework.  The boys went over to Willard Saffords and up to Max Morgans awhile.  Busy took Florence to school.  Imade 22 glasses of crabbapple Jelly.  Ibaked some.  Icanned 2 pt cans of tomatoes.  The boys dug some early potatoes.  We had dinner.  Johnny went up to Clares to help draw in Soye Beans.  Jimmy went to the lower place and dug 14 bushel of potatoes.  We mended some.  Busy got the cows and Black cow was choked.  After the boys came home they finally got it out.  We had  supper.  It started raining.  The boys milked.  We all went to Argyle.  Istayed to Marions the rest and Marions children went to Free Show in Argyle Hall.  Florence stayed to Marions after school and her, Marion and children went up to the cemetery and mowed our lot.  Florence came home with us after the show."

            Wed. Sept. 27: "We did up the housework.  Johnny went over to Starrs to get Ed and Clif to help them come over and pick off corn. They came.  The 4 of them picked off the corn in forenoon.  Busy took Florence to school.  We made ice cream.  And Ibaked some too.  We had dinner. Ed & Clif went home.  Jimmy took some potatoes to Glens Falls. And brought Florence home from school.  Johnny went to the lower place and dug only 2 bushel of potatoes when it started raining, so he came home.  The boys milked and Jimmy took the cows to the pasture and see Flossie was choked, so he brought her to the barn.  They worked with her but could not make much difference.  Icalled Frank McL. he said he would come over. We had supper. Frank came over. They worked with her quite a few minutes.  Frank went home.  Jimmy went away but it was so late Johnny did not go.  It rained hard around 9:30. 

            Thurs. Sept. 28: "We did up the housework.  Busy took Florence to school and brought Earl and Raymond up to spend the day.  The boys went to Liddles, but he did not need any help with the corn so they dug some potatoes.  Ibaked some.  We had dinner. The boys took the team down to lower place and dug more potatoes and brought them home around 6.  Marjory, Laurence and kids came up came up in the afternoon.  They went home around 4. took Ray & Earl.  Busy got the cows. After supper and they milked. Johnny, Busy and Iwent to Argyle.  Florence stayed to Marjorys after school.  We went down there, Istayed with the children so Marjory, Laurence, Florence & Busy went to Fort Edward to show and see Salt & Peanuts.  Johnny went somewhere but came back and brought us home.  Florence stayed to Marjs all nite."

            Fri. Sept. 29: "We did up the housework.  The boys were going to help Liddles fill silo, but he did not want them.  So they dug some potatoes to lower place.  I mended some. Busy swept some.  We had dinner. The boys went to lower place and dug more potatoes.  Busy went down and picked them.  And went to Argyle after Florence from school, Teresa rode home with them.  Eddie came up to stay.  The boys brought up a load of potatoes and went back after the rest in another load.  Busy got the cows.  Florence watched them up in the clover field.  We had supper.  The boys milked, and then went to Argyle and somewhere else.  Good day.  Kinda cold at nite.  They dug 50 bushel potatoes today.  Florence's heifer (Beauty) had a calf so Johnny brought her down."

            Sat. Sept. 30: "We did up the housework.  Ipicked chicken for dinner. The boys went to lower place and dug potatoes.  We made bread.  The girls went to pick potatoes around 10:30.  Imade cookies, cake and pies, we cooked pumpkin.  They brought up a load of potatoes at noon. and the boys went back down after dinner. Florence swept and Busy moped the floor and they did a few other things and around 3:00 they went to help with potatoes.  I mended some. We had supper. The boys milked and stayed home.  Florence, Busy and I went to Argyle.  Took Eddie home. And we stopped to cemetary and left some flowers and got the grass.  We stayed and kept Marions children as she and Ed went to the show.  Good day.  They dug 53 bushel of potatoes. today."

            Sun. Oct. 1: "We did up the housework.  We all went to church it was Rally Day, all Sabbath School, & children speaking, etc.  Marion & children, Marjory & children all but Roland were there.  Earl came home with us.  We had dinner.  The boys both went away.  Busy got the cows.  It rained some.  Johnny and Beverly came.  The girls helped Johnny milk.  We had supper.  Busy went away.  Johnny took Earl and Beverly home.  After breakfast awhile Johnny went down after Mr. Brown to come up and help him start the engine.  Mrs. Brown came along too.  It did not take long to start it.  Johnny took them home."

            Mon. Oct. 2: "We did up the housework.  Florence rode to school with Darflers.  The boys went to lower place and dug 25 bushel of potatoes this forenoon, took team so brought them home at noon.  We washed some by hand and did the ironing.  In the afternoon the boys helped Ed Starr thrash the buckwheat he put in down to lower place on shares.  15 bushel for us.  He finished the seed and we got quarter of it.  Boys brought it home at nite.  Busy and Iwent to Argyle and took some cider apples to Ed Heath.  Brought Florence from school.  The girls got cows.  Busy picked 25 bushel of cider apples today.  The boys milked, we had supper. A pretty good day."

            Tues. Oct. 3: "We did up the housework.  Busy took Florence to school and took some more cider apples.  The boys went to lower place.  Johnny was over to Liddles awhile.  The dug 14 bushel and brought them home at noon.  Ibaked. Busy picked some apples.  In the afternoon Joe C., Howard M., Cliff. L., and Ed S. came and helped Johnny and Jimmy cut corn.  Marion and children, Marjory and children came up after school and brought Florence home.  Raymond, Ruth and Eddie stayed up all nite as Marion and Ed are going to N. Argyle to chicken pie supper and to the show.  Helen was going to Marjorys.  The boys milked.  We had supper and all stayed home.  A pretty good day.  In the afternoon Icut off Florences tan coat and made a Jacket.  Busy picked the rest of apples off ground in orchard so they turned cows in."

            Wed. Oct. 4: "Imade 4 pies before breakfast.  We did up the housework.  Busy and Itook Florence to school and took the three children home.  We also took ensilage cutter knives down to get sharpened, did several erands.  Howard, Joe, Cliff and Ed came.  They cut corn.  Johnny and Ed went down to Liddles and helped some, then at noon they brought Clares tractor and Johns' cutter.  Imade brown bread.  We got dinner ready.  Clares man and team came and Sammie C came to help.  Howard M. and Starrs had there team. They filled silo in the afternoon.   Ed. S. run the tractor.  Icanned 2 pt cans of beets and 4 pt. cans of tomatoes.  made a cake.  Busy was in silo but went after Florence from school.  Busy got the cows.  The boys milked.  We had supper. All stayed home at nite.  A pretty good day.  We ground up green tomatoes for chow chow at nite."

            Thurs. Oct. 5: "We did up the housework.  Made bread.  Busy took Florence to school.  Ed. Starr and Sammie C. came and helped Jimmy and Johnny cut corn.  We made chow chow and pieled the ripe cucumbers.  Around 11:30 Marjory, Laurence and children came.  After dinner Howard brought his team.  Joe came too.  Cliff. brought Starrs team.  Clares man came with a team.  They filled all afternoon up until around 4 when the sheer plate broke and went up in the silo.  So the men all went home.  They telephoned to Glens Falls and they thought they had the part.  So we will have to go out after it in the morning.  Marjory, L and kids went home.  The boys milked.  We had supper.  A pretty good day but rained at nite. Florence stayed to Marions after school.  We all went to Argyle at nite.  Istayed at Marions with children.  The rest went to dance in grange hall given by Seniors.  Florence stayed to Marions all nite."

            Fri. Oct. 6:  "We did up the housework.  Ed Star came over and he, Jimmy and Johnny cut corn in the forenoon. Around 8:30 Busy and Istarted for Glens Falls to get the part for ensilage cutter. We had some things to do to Argyle.  Mother, Marion and Raymond went with us.  We had to flat tires. so had to stop to Fort Edward and buy a second had one to get to Glens Falls.  Guy Barkley gave us an order so we got a new tire to Glens Falls.  We got a new part for the cutter but it would not fit so McMurray ordered a new part from Albany to come around 6 tonite.  We came home and had dinner Ed went home and they called to rest not to come as they could not fill this afternoon.  We went up to Gilchrists on business.  Jimmy took some potatoes to Glens Falls and waited and got the part for cutter.  He came around 8.  Brought Florence home.  Brought Rachel and after supper went away.  Imade ripe cucumber pickles in afternoon.  Busy helped Johnny milk.  Good day.  In P.M. Johnny listen to world Series ball game over radio.  Itook up some perwinkles towards nite and put in dishes in house.  As it is pretty cold."

            Sat. Oct. 7: "We got up early.  We did up the housework.  Busy moped floor and I pieled pumpkin.  Ed and Cliff came with there team.  Joe. C. came with Mahaffys team.  Sammie came with McKernons team. Laurence came up to help.  They filled the silo in the forenoon. Busy was in silo.  Imade pies, cake and cookies.  Florence helped me get dinner and do things.  We had dinner around noon.  They had all the corn in silo that was cut and it was not quite full. So they cut another load and put it in making it full.  In the afternoon Ifinished making Florences Jacket.  Jimmy went to Argyle to get his car fixed.  Johnny listened to ball game (world Series) over radio.  Icanned 1 pt can beets and 1 pt. can rhubarb.  The boys milked.  We had supper. Ed. S. came over and he and Johnny went to show.  The rest of us stayed home.  Cool all day, cold at nite, windy."

            Sun. Oct. 8: "We did up the housework.  Lester came down and he and Busy went away today, over the Mohawk trail.  In the forenoon the boys took the young cattle up and fixed fence.  We had dinner. Johnny took to Nash and went away.  Jimmy, Florence and Iwent up to Hazels.  Florence helped Jimmy milk and we stayed home at nite.  A pretty good day."

            Mon. Oct. 9: "We did up the housework.  Florence rode to school with Darflers.  We did the washing.  Ed. and Cliff came over with there team, and helped the boys refill the silo.  We had dinner. The boys finished in afternoon.  Silo full again and about 2 loads left yet.  But they took the blower & pipe down.  We took down some clothes, not a very good drying day. Busy and Iwent to Argyle.  Mother said Joe MacFarland died today.  So she and Iwent up awhile.  Florence stayed down all nite at Marions.  We came home.  Took down the most of the clothes.  The boys were milking.  We had supper and all stayed home.  It thundered and lightened some around bed time.  Busy picked some pound sweets in the afternoon."

            Tues. Oct. 10: "We did up the housework.  Around 8:30 the boys brought the cows and young cattle in the barn.  Dr. Tompson Veterinary, cow tester came and tested to cows.  The boys brought a load of corn here from up on the hill, put it in the horsebarn and husked 5 bushel.  We had dinner. In the forenoon Imade pie, cake and cookies.  Busy and Idid the ironing.  And Imended quite a bit.  After dinner Iwent out in the horsebarn and husked corn up until shortly after 5:30.  The boys went up and got another load, put on barn floor, over to big barn.  Jimmy went to Argyle, Guy Barkley fixed his car, so he brought Florence home from school.  Johnny helped me husk some.  We husked 30 bushel.  Busy picked some pound sweets.  The boys brought up apples and took corn over to corn house.  They milked. We had supper. The boys both wet away.  A pretty good day."

            Wed. Oct. 11: "We did up the housework. Busy took Florence to school.  The boys went to lower place and dug 31 bushel of potatoes.  They sold 16 bushel from field 75¢ as they run.  Imade pies.  and went over to the big barn and husked about an hour.  Icame back and got dinner ready.  Busy picked some pound sweet apples.  In the afternoon the boys drew down to loads of corn ears, put one load in big barn and one in horsebarn. Busy and Iwent down and had some errands to do took Flowers to cemetary. and brought Florence and Teresa from school.  Eddie came up to stay as theres no school tomorrow.  The boys milked.  We had supper.  A good day.  We got some ripe cucumbers from Mother this P.M.  At nite we all went over to big barn and husked corn about 2 hours.  Around 30 bu."

            Thurs. Oct. 12: "We did up the housework.  I pieled the ripe cucumbers and put them to soak in salt water.  The boys went to lower place and dug potatoes. The girls cleaned out milkhouse vat and the rest of milk house.  Busy picked some pound sweet apples.  Imade cookies, pies and cake.  Around 11 Florence and Busy went to lower place, they & Eddie picked potatoes, had 35 bags and a bushel in each but left some on ground.  We had dinner. And all went to Argyle.  Left Eddie home. Got Mother and Marjory and went to North Argyle Church to Joe McFarlands funeral.  A very large funeral.  We came to cemetary, took Mother and Marjory home, we came home.  The boys went to lower place and picked up 10 bu. potatoes they left this forenoon all dug.  The boys did chores.  We had supper. All stayed to home except Jimmy went up to D. Fosters to help grade potatoes.  A good day."

            Fri. Oct. 13: "We did up the housework.  Florence rode to school with Darflers.  The boys brought the cows and young cattle in stable as Dr. Tompson, Veterinary came back and examined the cows and found a clean test.  The boys sorted some potatoes, drew corn we husked the other nite down in corn house.  Busy picked the pumpkins.  Icooked the cucumbers for pickles.  Busy made a cake.  We had dinner. Johnny took potatoes to Glens Falls and got a new window light in car, brought Florence and Teresa from school.  In the afternoon Jimmy went to Mahaffys with team and helped fill silo.  Imended, Busy picked some apples.  Imade escalloped potatoes.  The boys milked.  We had supper. The boys both went away.  A good day but kinda cold.  Rained some at nite."

            Sat. Oct. 14: "White frost this morning.  We did up the housework.  Busy mixed bread.  The boys went to lower place to dig potatoes.  Imade ginger snaps, pies.  Florence made cake.  Busy swept some.  Around 10:30 Florence and Busy went down to pick the potatoes.  Iput biscuits, bread & buns in tins.  We had dinner. The girls swept & moped the floor. Imended some.  Around 3:30 Florence and Busy went down to pick potatoes.  Johnny got the cows.  The boys milked.  We had supper. Busy went away, the rest of us stayed home.  A pretty good day, only kinda cold. The dug 69 bushel of potatoes today."

            Sun. Oct. 15: "White frost this morning.  We did up the housework.  Johnny went up and fixed fence where the young cattle got out.  Jimmy washed his car.  We all went to church except Jimmy.  He went somewhere else.  Florence stayed to Sabbath School.  Johnny went down after Beverly.  We came home and had dinner and all went for a ride over by W. Hebron, Salem, E. Greenwich, Cossayuna and back home.  Johnny got the cows.  The girls helped him milk.  We had supper and all went to Argyle.  Iwent to Mothers & Marions.  The girls went to church.  Johnny took Beverly home.  A good day, not so cold today, also tonite."

            Mon. Oct. 16: "We did up the housework.  Florence rode to school with Darflers.  We did the washing with machine, but only had a small one.  The boys went down and dug potatoes.  Iwashed off the tomatoes and got dinner, took down some clothes.  Busy went down to pick potatoes around 10:30.  They got 42 bushel this forenoon.  We had dinner. We did the ironing.  Idid some mending.  The boys got the last of the corn ears. 2 small loads.  Busy went after Florence from school and took some wood to Mother.  Just before she went George Craig and 2 men (Inspectors from milk station) came to inspect the milk house, barn etc.  After they left the boys had to fix up some things around, as they told them too.  The boys milked.  A man came to inspect the cows. (All O.K.) We had supper. All went out in horsebarn to husk corn.  R. & L. Lufkin came down. Good day, windy."

            Tues. Oct. 17: "Rainy, dark day.  We got up shortly after 4:30. As this morning we started shipping milk to Buskirk.  It has to leave at 6.  George Craig carries it.  The boys drew corn we husk over to corn house.  The boys went down to dig potatoes.  The girls got the cows and put them down in pasture.  It started raining hard shortly after 8.  Busy took Florence to school.  Johnny went with them from lower place to do a little work on the car.  Jim brought the team up, they only dug 4 bushel as it rained.  Jim husked corn in big barn.  Imade brown sugar candy. Imade 4 apple pies.  Johnny & Busy got home around 11.  Johnny and Iwent over to barn and husked until noon.  We had dinner. The boys sorted some potatoes.  Jimmy took some potatoes to Glens Falls.  Johnny  husked some corn and did a few things.  Did a little work in milk house.  Imade chocolate candy and escalloped corn.  The boys milked.  Johnny took us to Argyle, went and got Florence as she went to Marjorys after school.  We went to chicken pie supper at church.  Took beets, 2 apple pies & escalloped corn. (candy) L. took us to Marjorys. F. stayed all nite. Jim brought us home."

            Wed. Oct. 18: "We got up shortly after 4:30.  The boys milked.  The milk left about 6.  We did up the housework.  The boys went down to dig potatoes.  I husked corn.  Busy went down to pick potatoes.  They got 40 bushel.  We had dinner. I made cake.  Jimmy drew out the manure in barn yard.  Johnny fixed fence to turn the cows behind cow barn, and husked corn.  Busy and Iwent to Salem.  Iwent to the bank.  We came home and went to Argyle after Florence & Teresa from school, we had some errands to do. The boys milked.  We had supper.  All stayed home at nite.  A fair day, cloudy some. Rained some towards nite."

            Thurs. Oct. 19: "No school today and tomorrow as teachers conference.  We got up around 4:45.  The boys milked.  We had breakfast.  We did up the housework.  The girls painted iron pipe for milk house and oil Stove.  The boys went down to dig potatoes.  Ibaked quite a lot, pies, cookies & cake, made beef pie for dinner. The girls went down to pick potatoes.  Around 11:30 Marion & children came up.  We had dinner. The boys went back down to dig. The girls picked green tomatoes in garden.  Florence, Busy, Helen, Eddie and Ruth went down to pick potatoes.  67 bushel potatoes today.  Marion and Raymond went  down around 4:30 and got the children & went home.  We made bread & buns today.  The boys milked and unloaded potatoes.  We had supper.  All went to Argyle.  Busy & Istayed to Marions.  Johnny, Jimmy, Florence, Marion and Ed went to dance in grange hall give by Junior class of High School.  We went down with Jim and came home with Johnny.  Good day but windy nite.  Rained a little at nite."

            Fri. Oct. 20: "We got up a little before 5.  The boys milked.  We had breakfast.  We did up the housework.  The boys husked some and drew some corn down to corn house.  Ihusked more as the boys went to lower place to dig potatoes as  R. Stout brought digger. The girls & Earl went down and picked, the boys picked too.  The digger broke.  Marj, Laurence and children came up in forenoon.  We had dinner. The boys dug by hand in P.M.  Busy, Florence, Marj, Earl and Lois went down to pick potatoes.  Roland stayed with me.  Imade apple sauce & escaloped potatoes.  They dug 77 bushel of potatoes today.  The boys milked, unloaded potatoes.  We had supper. All stayed home at nite.  A good day.  Around 8:30 Laurence came up after Marjory and children.  Lois and Roland were sleeping."

            Sat. Oct. 21: "We got up around 4:45.  The boys Milked.  We had breakfast.  We did up the housework.  The boys went to lower place to dig potatoes.  Florence and I cracked walnuts and Imade chocolate cookies, oatmeal cookies, pies and cake.  Busy swept in sitting room, moped the kitchen floor. George Ellis came up to dig potatoes, brought Eddie up to pick.  The girls went down to pick up the potatoes.  We had dinner. The 3 boys went back down to dig.  Eddie went down too.  The girls went down around 3.  Icanned 2 qt cans and 8 pt cans of tomatoes.  George E. went home but Eddie stayed up.  They dug 98 bushel potatoes today.  The boys milked, unloaded potatoes.  We had supper.  Jimmy went away and took Eddie home.  Busy went away.  A good day, windy towards nite."

            Sun. Oct. 22: "We got up quite early. We did up the housework.  We all went to church except Jimmy, he stayed home.  Florence stayed for Sabbath School.  We came home, had dinner. Johnny went away.  We Made candy. Busy went away.  Florence helped Jimmy milk.  We went to Argyle.  Jimmy and Florence went to C. U. Iwent to Mothers and Marions.  A fair day, but rained at nite around 9 and quite a bit in nite."

            Mon. Oct. 23: "Florence rode to school with Darflers.  We got up quite early.  We did up the housework.  The boys went to lower place to dig potatoes.  George Ellis came up to help.  I washed out a lot of clothes by hand. Busy helped some, then went down and picked potatoes.  We had dinner. The boys went down to dig.  Then went to Argyle after Florence from school.  Itook down the clothes and ironed some. They dug 70 bushel potatoes today.  Johnny could not start the engine.  The boys milked, unloaded potatoes.  We had supper and all stayed home.  A good day, kinda cold at nite."

            Tues. Oct. 24: "We got up quite early.  We did up the housework.  Busy took Florence to school.  The boys went down to dig potatoes. Busy brought Mother home with her to spend the day.  Busy went down to pick potatoes.  Ibaked some.  Johnny got Mr. Brown to start the engine, took him home.  We had dinner. The boys took team and went up to David Fosters to help with potatoes.  We did the ironing.  Busy and Itook Mother home and got Florence from school.  It started raining around 2 o'clock.  The boys got home around 5.  They did chores.  We had supper.  Cloudy forenoon, kinda cold & damp.  Rained hard at nite.  We all stayed home."
            Wed. Oct. 25: "Cold, windy, muddy this morning.  We got up quite early.  We did up the housework.  Jimmy took Florence to school and took potatoes out to Falls.  The boys picked 2½ barrells of Baldwin apples.  The wind blew terrible hard.  Ido not feel very well.  Ipieled apples, potatoes, etc.  Busy made pies.  We had dinner. The boys went up to David Fosters to help with potatoes, but it was so wet they could not dig.  So Lester brought D. Fosters digger down to lower place and used his team and ours and dug 17 bushel.  Johnny and Jimmy picked them  Imade doughnuts.  Wind blew very hard and cold.  Busy went after Florence from school.  The boys unloaded potatoes. Then milked. We had supper. Johnny went away.  cold. Wind blew hard all day went down in nite tho."

            Thurs. Oct. 26: "Hard Frost.  It is very cold this morning, ground froze quite a bit.  We did up the housework.  Jimmy took Florence to school and took potatoes to Glens Falls. Johnny chored around here.  Busy moped floor.  Lester brought his team down, they went down but thought the ground was froze to much so they did not dig this forenoon.  Imade pies.  The boys carried the sitting room stove out and we set it up.  Johnny changed oil in engine. went up to Clares after some fuel gas.  We had dinner. They went down and dug potatoes with both teams.  Roland L. & Sammie C. went down to help pick.  In the afternoon Imended some and made a cake.  Busy went down after Florence after they got thru picking potatoes.  Jimmy and Lester each brought up a load of potatoes.  They got 68 bushel.  The boys milked.  We had supper. All stayed home at nite.  Kinda cold but not near as cold as last nite.  No wind tonite."

            Fri. Oct. 27: "We got up quite early.  The boys milked.  We did up the housework.  Jimmy took our team down to lower place. Lester took his team down and dug with both team.  George Ellis came up to pick.  Also Roland L. and Sammie C. came to pick.  Busy took Florence to school and stopped on her way home to pick potatoes.  Idid quite a lot of things and got dinner. We made biscuits and bread today.  The brought up 2 loads of potatoes 68 bushel.  The unloaded them.  We had dinner. They went back down to dig and pick potatoes.  Busy and Iwashed dishes.  Ibaked bread.  She did a few thing, then went down to pick potatoes.  Went from there after Florence & Teresa from school  Took wood for Mother.  They brought 2 loads of potatoes.  101 bushel unloaded them.  The boys milked. We had supper. Johnny and Jimmy went away.  A pretty good day, kinda cloudy in afternoon and wind blew some.  Icanned 1 qt. 6 QT beets.

            Sat. Oct. 28: "We got up early, the boys went down to lower place to help Lester , Roland & Sammie load David Fosters digger. The boys milked. We had breakfast.  We did up the housework.  Johnny and Jimmy went to D. Fosters to work with potatoes.  Around 9 Busy, Florence and I went to Glens Falls to take potatoes.  We came home.  Busy moped kitchen floor. Igot dinner. The boys did not come home for dinner. The girls put cows in pasture, Then went up to David Fosters to pick potatoes.  Imade pies and cake in afternoon and did other things.  Wind blew kinda cold in afternoon. A fair day tho.  Nice forenoon. The boys milked. We had supper. Busy went away. The rest of us stayed home."

            Sun. Oct. 29: "We did up the housework.  We did not any of us go to church.  We had dinner around 12:30.  Jimmy went for a ride somewhere.  The rest of us went for a ride too.  Went down and got Beverly, then to Greenwich and Fly Summitt to see Mr. Lundburg.  Came to Greenwich, Center Falls, Battenville, Cossayuna and home.  Busy helped Johnny milk.  We all went to Argyle.  Iwent to Marions and Mothers. The rest went to church.  Johnny took Beverly home.  We waited to Marions. A good day only rained a little at noon and some a few times in afternoon. Nice nite only kinda cold."

            Mon. Oct. 30: "We did up the housework.   Florence rode to school with Darflers.  The boys went down to dig potatoes.  Iwashed out a few clothes by hand. Around 10 Busy went down and picked potatoes.  Jim brought up 27 bushel they got this forenoon.  We had dinner. Busy did the ironing and went down to pick potatoes.  They got 20 bushel this afternoon.  Imended some and did some other things.  Busy went from lower place after Florence. The boys brought up potatoes.  They unloaded them  Milked. We had supper. All stayed home at nite.  Earl came home with Florence and Busy and is going to stay all nite.  It has been a very good day, sunshone very warm."

            Tues. Oct. 31: "We did up the housework. The boys went down to dig potatoes.  George Ellis came up to help dig too. Busy took Florence to school and stopped on her way home to pick potatoes.  They got 38 bushel this forenoon.  Ibaked and did things. We had dinner. The boys went down to dig. Busy went down around 2 to pick potatoes.  Earl went to sleep after Iread to him. Imended some. They got 35 bushel potatoes this afternoon.  The boys milked, unloaded potatoes. We had supper. Johnny went away someplace.  Florence stayed to Marions after school and at nite went to church with Helen, Eddie and Ruth to a Halloween Party.  She stayed to Marions all nite, Jimmy , Earl, Busy and Iwent to Argyle. We took Earl home Busy and Istayed with Marjorys kids as Marj. and L. went away.  Jim went away but brought us home.  A very warm day and nice nite."

            Wed. Nov. 1: "We did up the housework. The boys went down to dig potatoes.  George Ellis came up to dig too.  Around 9:30 Busy went down to pick.  Idid some thing, baked some.  They got 50 bushel potatoes this forenoon.  We had dinner. The boys went back down to dig.  Iwashed dishes.  Busy went down to pick. They got 22 bushel and are all thru.  Finished around 3 o'clock. Busy and Johnny came up in car, Ihelepd Johnny sort some potatoes.  Jim brought team up with potatoes.  Johnny went to Glens Falls with potatoes and brought Florence home.  Jimmy plowed some for the first after he got up from lower place.  Johnny and Florence got home around 5:30.  The boys milked. We had supper. It has been a very pleasant day. They are thru with potatoes now.  Have a total of 1075 bushel.  All stayed home at nite."

            Thurs. Nov. 2: "We did up the housework.  Johnny took Florence to school and went down to South Argyle Garage to have Hank Moore help him fix it.  Jimmy plowed all forenoon.  Imended some. Busy moped floor. Imade pies, Busy Made a cake.  We had dinner. Jimmy took some potatoes to Glens Falls. Imended in afternoon.  Busy took up the Dahlia and Gladiola roots.  After Jimmy came from Glens Falls he went up and plowed some more.  Jim got the cows in, Busy helped him milk.  We had supper. Florence stayed to Marions after school.  They did not have the car fixed so Johnny waited.  Busy and Iwent to Argyle with Jimmy.  We took Florence's and Johnnys clothes to go to dance.  Iwent to Mothers and Marions.  Johnny got up from S. Argyle around 10:30.  Jim, Busy, Florence and Johnny went to dance in Grange Hall given by Baseball team. Good day."

            Fri. Nov. 3: "We did up the housework. Busy and Itook Florence to school.  Ihad to go to Bank to pay the Sight Draft that had to be payed to get the new batteries for our lightening plant.  We came home.  Jimmy plowed.  Johnny fixed lights and did things around here.  We had dinner. Mr. Lundburg and a man came to get the bill of lading, then went to Salem and got the batteries.  They got back here around 2 o'clock.  Johnny helped them take the old batteries out and put in new ones.  Jim plowed.  Mr. Lundburg took the old batteries.  They left around 5 o'clock.  Busy went down after Florence from school.  The boys did chores.  We had supper. All stayed home at nite.  Cloudy most all day and rained a little around 1 o'clock. Run the engine awhile after Mr. Lundburg left. About ½ hour."

            Sat. Nov. 4: "We did up the housework.  After breakfast awhile Ipicked a hen for dinner. Jimmy plowed.  Johnny did a few things around here. Got a light fixed in milk house.  Imade pies.  Busy made cake.  Florence washed the kitchen windows.  Busy swept some and cleaned car some and washed glasses in car.  We had dinner. Johnny went to Greenwich to a Football Game.  Iwent with him down to Marjorys as Lois is sick.  Busy moped kitchen floor. Her and Florence did some other things.  Jimmy plowed.  The engine run 4 hours this forenoon and 2 hours this afternoon.  Johnny got home around 5:30.  The boys milked.  Florence and Busy went away. G. F. to show.  The boys went to show and came down after they came from show after me to bring me home.  In the afternoon Laurence took me up to church to Mrs. Jennie McGeoch's funeral.  Fair day. cold nite."

            Sun. Nov. 5: "Very cold this morning 18 above.  We did up the housework.  Imade we had pancakes for breakfast.  Mrs. Belle McGeoch came over to tell us the young cattle were over there.  After breakfast the boys went and got them and put them in field behind barn.  Then Johnny went up to Clares for fuel gas.  And started the engine.  Johnny, Florence and Iwent to church.  Jimmy went away somewhere.  Florence stayed for Sabbath School.  Iwent up to Mothers and Marions.  Mother and Eddie came home with us.  We had dinner. Ipopped some popcorn in the afternoon.  The engine run 3 hours this forenoon and 3 hours in the afternoon.  Johnny and Eddie put the cows in.  Johnny, Eddie, Florence and Busy did the milking.  We had supper. We all went to Argyle.  Iwent with Mother to help her light light, fix fires, etc.  Iwent to Marions.  We came home. cold. A  pretty good day.  Cold nite."

            Mon. Nov. 6: "We did up the housework. Florence rode to school with Darflers.  We did not wash as it was snowing when we got up and snowed all forenoon, not very hard only for a little while.  The boys went up and got the (Olivers heifer, black heifer) as she was up to John McKernons Sat nite.  They worked in barn, fixed stanchels, etc. Got all young cattle in except 2 calves way up back.  We had dinner. We braided up some seed corn.  The boys chored around. and went to Argyle after Florence from school.  They did chores, Johnny worked with lights over to barn.  The boys milked.  Imade cake this afternoon.  The engine run about 4½ hours after Johnny started it around 10:30.  We had supper and all stayed home at nite. Warm in afternoon, snow is melting, going kinda fast some places. There was about 2 inches."

            Tues. Nov. 7: "Imade 2 apple pies before breakfast. We did up the housework. Busy and Itook Florence to school and stayed down. Busy and Itook Marion, Ray and Mother up street, we all voted (except Ray).  Mother had to go to Argyle Hall. We other three at I. O. O. F. Hall.  Iwent to Mothers for dinner and Busy went to Marions.  Iwent over to Marions in afternoon and mended some.  Mother came over too.  Busy went down to Marjorys awhile.  In the forenoon Jimmy finished plowing the field he has been plowing up back.  Johnny did things around house and barn.  They got there dinner, Ed Star was here. The 3 of them came to Argyle in afternoon.  Ed, Johnny and Jimmy voted.  Johnny came home with us after Florence got out of school.  The boys milked. We had supper. Johnny and Busy went away.  Its thawing some but there is quite a bit of snow left yet.  It snowed most all day, very nasty, cloudy day."

            Wed. Nov. 8: "We did up the housework.  Johnny took Florence to school and took some potatoes down to Hank Moore. We did a very big washing.  Jimmy plowed up on top of the hill behind barns.  We had dinner. Johnny chored around.  Jimmy plowed.  We washed Mothers black and White heavy dress this forenoon, so Iironed it.  Imended a lot.  Busy ironed. Johnny went to Argyle after Florence from school.  Florence helped Busy finish the ironing.  We got the clothes all in.  It has been a very windy day, sunshone quite a bit.  We had a very big washing, lines all full once and partly again.  cold in afternoon and colder at nite. Johnny brought 1 calf down off from hill in back cow pasture.  Imade cupcakes. The boys milked.  We had supper and all stayed home at nite.  Kinda cold.  We still have some snow in shady, cold places.  Imended at nite."

            Thurs. Nov. 9: "We did up the housework.  Jimmy took Florence to school and took potatoes to Glens Falls and took a chair of Jens from here to Hudson Falls.  Johnny kinda chored around.  We took down the sitting room and my bedroom curtains and Iwashed them.  Busy washed windows and woodwork and pictures in sitting room.  Imade a cake.  It was a pretty good forenoon, sunshone, cold, after dinner it started snowing and snowed all afternoon.  The boys moved the pigs from hog pen over under horse barn and did a few other things.  Imade cookies and a chocolate pie.  We put plants back in sitting room and set out a few more we did not have set out before.  Florence stayed to Marjorys after school The boys did chores. We had supper. Jimmy stayed home. Johnny, Busy and Iwent to Argyle got Florence and went to Fort Edward to Bradley Theatre to see Buddy Kincaid. Florence stayed to Marjorys all nite. Snowing some when we went to show, but clearing off when we came home."

            Fri. Nov. 10: "Snowing when we got up.  We did up the housework.  Johnny went up to David Fosters to help put up potatoes.  Jimmy chored around.  Iironed the curtains.  Busy made pies and cake.  Imade cornmeal bread.  We had dinner. Johnny came home. Jimmy took potatoes to Fort Edward and brought Florence and Teresa from school.  Johnny chored around.  Imended quite a bit.  Busy washed window and a little woodwork in my bedroom.  Imade Valances for sitting room (windows curtains), we put up curtains in sitting room and my bedroom.  The boys did chores.  We had supper. Jimmy and Johnny went away.  Imade a new cover for pillow in sitting room chair and fixed some of the cretonne for shelves in sitting room like pillow and Valances.  Snowed most all day put quit around 4.  cold at nite.  Today was Carol Robertsons funeral.  Hazel came to funeral."

            Sat. Nov. 11: "We did up the housework.  Imade cookies, pies and cake.  We also made bread, biscuits and buns.  We set up the stove in the good bedroom up stairs. The boys finished husking the corn in big barn, all thru now.  The boys chored around some. We had dinner. Florence and Iwashed dishes.  Busy swept and moped the kitchen floor. The boys did chores.  We all went to Argyle around 3.  Iwent to Marjorys and kept her 3 children, all Marions but Helen and Richard Y. as Johnny, Jimmy, Marjory, Marion, Helen, Lill, Florence and Busy went to the church to Dorothy Todds and Bert Teffts Wedding.  We went down in both cars and took some wood to Mother.  After wedding Marion, Helen, Eddie, Ray and Icame up with Jimmy.  Johnny put alchol in car, so he, Florence, Ruth and Busy came later.  Ed  is up North hunting, so they came up to stay tonite and tomorrow.  The boys did chores.  We had supper. A pretty good day, kinda cold.  Started snowing around 5:30 and snowed hard most all nite."

            Sun. Nov. 12: "18º above zero.  We did up the housework.  The boys did chores.  Jimmy, Johnny, Florence, Helen and Iwent to church.  Helen and Florence stayed for Sabbath School.  Iwent up to Mothers.  We came home and had dinner.  The boys did chores.  Johnny, Jimmy, Eddie, Florence and Ruth went in car up to Mahaffy place and down to Claytons looking for the lost calf but did not find it anywhere.  The children rode down hill.  The boys milked, we had supper and all went to Argyle.  Drove both cars.  Took Marion and Ray home.  The rest except Jimmy went to church.  Iwent down to Marjorys to stay with the children.  She did not want to go to church as Roland does not feel very well, so Iwent up to Marions as she and Ray were there alone, we got fire going.  (Florence leader) The rest came from church.  Johnny went away.  Jimmy, came and brought us home.  Quite a bit of snow.  Kinda cold but sunshone too."

            Mon. Nov. 13: "We did up the housework.  Florence rode to school with Darflers.  We washed out a few clothes by hand.  It is windy, but damp and thawing the snow alot.  The boys drew the corn down to corn house from big barn and drew husks out of horse barn, also big barn. Jimmy plowed some.  We had dinner. The boys loaded Mothers wood on the wagon and Jimmy took it down with King and Dandy.  Johnny chored around in the afternoon.  Itook down the clothes, got them all in and we did the ironing.  It started raining around 4.  Got dark shortly after 4.  Rained terrible hard before Jimmy got home.  He came around 5:30 and was soaked.  He changed his clothes and Jimmy and Johnny milked.  Imade biscuits.  We had supper. It stopped raining.  Busy went away.  Florence stayed to Marions after school and all nite."

            Tues. Nov. 14: "We did up the housework.  Jimmy plowed.  Johnny went up in back pastures and saw the lost calf but could not catch it.  Imade a pie and cookies.  We had dinner. Johnny went down to visit school this afternoon and brought Florence home from school.  We mended in the afternoon and Busy made a cake.  It was kinda cold and cloudy and snowed from 4 until around 5:30.  Jimmy plowed some in afternoon too.  The boys did chores.  We had supper.  Jimmy and Johnny went away."

            Wed. Nov. 15: "10º above zero. Cold Wind     We did up the housework.  Jimmy took Florence to school.  He did not get home until about 1 o'clock.  Imade pies and cake.  Johnny chored around.  We had dinner, the boys did chores then went down after Florence to school.  Ihelped Busy put sleeves in her black satin dress and did a few other things.  Imade frosting for cake. also escalloped potatoes.  The boys milked.  The wind blew very hard and cold all day.  We had supper. All stayed home at nite.  cold nite. Iput curlers in Florences hair before supper."

            Thurs. Nov. 16: "2º above zero.   We did up the housework.  Johnny took Florence to school.  The boys sorted some potatoes.  Then went up in the back pastures and looked for the lost calf.  They saw it but did not catch it. They did not get back for dinner until about 1 o'clock.  We had dinner. Iput up new creton on shelves in S. Room.  But in the forenoon we covered the boxes for to put the plants on in the sitting room. I also dug around and put more dirt, etc around in 2 big tall plants up stairs.  In the after Jimmy took some potatoes to Hudson Falls.  Johnny chored around.  Florence stayed to Marions after school  The boys milked.  We had supper. A fair day only cold.  We all went to Argyle.  Iwent to Mothers awhile, then to Marions.  Istayed there while Johnny, Florence and Busy went to a dance in grange hall. Jimmy went to show.  We came home but Florence stayed all nite."

            Fri. Nov. 17: "18º above zero.  We did up the housework.  We cooked pumpkin and beans.  The boys sorted potatoes potatoes and chored around.  We had lunch. The boys went up to Clares as Ralph called down and said our calf was up with his young cattle so, Johnny & Jimmy went up and brought it home. Then Jimmy went to Glens Falls with some potatoes.  In the afternoon I made ginger snaps.  Then helped Johnny fix up some clothes as he has to be a scarecrow at social tonite. Florence stayed to Marjorys after school.  The boys milked.  Kinda windy and cold, cloudy. We had supper and all went to Argyle.  It started snowing and blowing.  Istayed to Marjorys with children so Marjory went with rest to social at the church.  It snowed and blowed.  Was thru snowing when we came home around 12.  Wind gone down 4 inches snow."

            Sat. Nov. 18: "26º above zero.   We did not get up very early.  Imade pancakes for breakfast.  Busy mixed bread.  We did up the housework.  Jim put a spring in his car.  Johnny chored around.  Imade pies. Busy swept some.  Florence washed out a few clothes.  Iput the biscuits and bread in tins.  And the girls put buns in tins around 1.  Busy swept & moped kitchen floor.  Florence washed windows.  Ibaked bread.   Jim drew a load of manure over in back cow pasture.  Johnny went to Clares and got fuel gas to run engine.  Imade cake.  We had dinner around 5 o'clock.   Imade frosting for buns and cake.  Then we washed dishes.  The boys milked.  We all stayed home at nite.  A pretty good day, sun did not shine so we still have the snow. Cloudy, looked like rain but did not.  Not very cold.  We had snow cream.  Jen came to Mothers tonite with Bob McQuain."

            Sun. Nov. 19: "We did up the housework.  We all want to church to a pagent.  Missionary Day. Florence stayed for Sabbath School.  We went up to Mothers to see her and Jen.  We came home after Sabbath school and had dinner. Marjory, Laurence and children came up.  The boys did chores.  Jimmy and Laurence went down in some woods to look at some wood.  We made some candy.  Marjory, Laurence and children went home around 5.  The boys did chores and milked.  We went to Argyle. Iwent to Mothers. Jimmy went somewhere.  The rest went to church.  We had to wait for Jimmy.  Nice day, sunshone quite warm.  But is was kinda cool all day.  Cold in morning, also at nite."

            Mon. Nov. 20: "We did up the housework.  Johnny took Florence and Teresa to school.  Then took Jennie to Fort Edward.  Then he went to South Argyle to get the clutch in Nash fixed.  We did the washing.  Jimmy went down to lower place and cut brush along the potato field.  We had dinner. Jimmy did chores and went back down to lower place to cut brush.  Then sorted potatoes.  Imended.  Busy ironed.  Imade escalloped potatoes. A good day, sunshone. Clothes nearly all dried, only overalls left out.  Johnny brought Florence from Marions when he came from South Argyle from getting car fixed around 6:30.  The came and the boys started milking around 6:45.  Johnny had to get cow feed as they were all out.  We had supper. around 7:45.  All stayed home. Cold at nite."

            Tues. Nov. 21: "10º above zero.   We did up the housework.  Johnny took Florence to school.  We mended and Busy made a cake.  Jimmy chored around.  Johnny got home about noon.  We had dinner. The boys did chores.  Seymour Hills came over and shod King and Dandy.  Johnny and Busy went down after Florence from school  Istarted to make new black sleeves for Florences red dress.  The boys did chores.  We had supper. All stayed home at night.  It has been cloudy all day.  Looked like rain but did not. Not very cold.  Warm wind. Thawing."

            Wed. Nov. 22: "46º above zero.  Rained in nite last nite.  Snow all gone this morning. Very warm all day.  We did up the housework.  Johnny took Florence to school and went down to South Argyle to finish fixing the Nash.  Jimmy drew some manure over in back field.  Busy and Iwere getting some pipe ready to set up the stove in parlor when Marjory, Laurence and children came up.  Icut out a green snow suit for Lois.  We had dinner shortly noon.  Laurence went home. Jim drew out manure.  Isowed on Lois suit and made her a hat.  Johnny came from South Argyle and brought Florence from school.  Got home around 4:45. The boys did chores.  Icut Earls hair and Lois bangs.  Imade biscuits.  We had supper. Shortly after 6:30.  The boys went to Argyle.  Marjory and children went home with them.  The boys went to church to practice singing. Then Johnny went to B.B. P

Nov. 23: "We did up the housework.  Johnny took Florence to school and took some potatoes to Fort Edward.  Got his hair cut and did a few other errands.  Jimmy drew manure.  Imade pies and cake.  Then sowed on Lois suit.  Busy washed some windows.  We had dinner after Johnny got home.  Jimmy went down to Olsenwics at the foot of MacEachron hill and drew wood out to road at foot of hill for Laurence.  Johnny chored around.  Isowed on Lois suit.  Around 3:30 Busy and Iwent to Argyle.  Iwent to Marjorys and stayed and sowed on Lois suit.  Busy and Florence and some girls went to Margaret Crawfords to a Missionary Circle meeting.  They got back about 10.  We came home. The boys stayed home at nite.  Fair day only cold.  windy. cold at nite."

Nov. 24: "We did up the housework.  Florence went down to school house and rode to school with McK's.  Jimmy went down and drew out more wood for Laurence.  Johnny chored around.  Imade pie and cookies.  Busy washed some wood work in kitchen.  Jimmy did not get home until about 1:30.  I sowed on Lois suit.  We had dinner when he came home.  He waited to finish.  Mr. and Mrs. King came and stayed awhile.  The boys did chores.  Jimmy drew out manure. Johnny went to Argyle after Florence, Teresa and Johnny McK. from school.  Busy washed some more woodwork.  Icleaned the kitchen cabinet.  Upper part and else side.  All but bottom cupboard.  The boys did chores. We had supper. The boys went away.  Imade button holes in Lois suit.  All done now but buttons. Cloudy, windy day."

Nov. 25: "We did up the housework.  We finished cleaning the kitchen cabinet.  Imade pies and cake.  Florence pieled apples & potatoes.  Busy finished washing the woodwork in the kitchen.  Jimmy drew out manure. Johnny chored around. We had dinner at noon.  Jimmy drew manure in the afternoon but the rest of us went to Glens Falls.  The girls got new dresses.  And we got number of little things.  We got home around 5.  The boys did chores. We had supper. Busy went away.  Isowed buttons on Lois suit.  And made her hat.  A fair day. Only cloudy and kind cool, windy."

Nov. 26: "We did up the housework.  We all went to church.  I took Lois suit and hat down to her.  Johnny went somewhere else.  Jimmy went over after Rachel while Florence was in Sabbath School.  We went to Mothers and Marions.  We came home and had dinner.  Johnny got home around 5:30.  The boys did chores. A warm day, Nice up until around 6 it started raining.  We had supper. All went to Argyle.  Iwent to Marions.  The rest went to church.  Hazel, George and Minnie were at Marions.  It was raining when we came home."

            Mon. Nov. 27: "About 3 inches of snow and it is snowing a little, stopped along in forenoon. cold. We did up the housework.  Florence rode to school with Darflers.  The boys took sawdust out. and cleaned out the ice house. Johnny filled fire extinguishers.  Jimmy helped me polish the kitchen cabinet.  Iwashed out some of the boys clothes.  Busy washed some woodwork in panty.  After dinner I blacked the parlor stove and pipe.  Busy swept in parlor & hall. Jimmy took potatoes to Glens Falls and brought Florence home from school.  Johnny did things around here.  The boys did chores. We had supper. All stayed home at nite. Imade covers for the chair and lounge cushions out of creton Igot to Falls Saturday. clear, cold nite.  Nice moonlight. Imixed bed and went to bed 10:30."

            Tues. Nov. 28: "We did up the housework.  Jimmy took Florence to school.  Busy washed a few clothes and swept some up stairs. Imade pies. The boys picked the gobbler.  We had dinner. Icleaned the good silverware.  Then Imade cookies and made salad dressing.  Johnny drew manure and Jimmy took some potatoes to Fort Edward to trade them out for groceries.  Busy went to Argyle with him.  The boys did chores.  A warm day. It is thawing some most all day. At nite the boys went to Argyle to Basketball Practice.  Isowed.  Florence studied."

            Wed. Nov. 29: "We did up the housework.  Johnny took Florence to school, but did not get home until about noon.  In the forenoon we got the turkey ready to roast.  Jimmy drew manure.  After dinner Imade cake.  Johnny got a rooster and Idressed it and got it ready to roast.  Jimmy drew manure. Johnny chored around and then went down after Florence.  Imade custard for ice cream.  Busy swept some.  Jimmy got some ice. The boys did chores.  Johnny got awashtub of hard snow behind the house as it is thawing and quite warm.  And started raining around .5.  We had supper. The boys froze ice cream.  And went to bed, as we all stayed home a night.  I fixed escalloped oysters.  Imixed bed around 10 then went to bed. Raining Iput curlers of Florences hair."

            Thurs. Nov. 30: "Ihad to get up in nite and put my biscuits in tins.  And got up before 5 and started fire to bake them, blacked stove, etc.  The snow is all gone, not raining, but cloudy.  We did up the housework.  Busy moped kitchen floor. Imade sponge cake. The boys froze ice cream after we got it fixed.  We set the Tables and got things ready.  Around 11 Hazel, George & Minnie came down.  Mother, Marion, Ed & children came after while.  And Harry, Nettie, Earl, Harold & Stanley came around noon. We had dinner and washed dishes.  They played cards and things. Kids rode horse back.  Hazel, George & Minnie went home around 4.  The boys started to do chores.  We had ice cream.  Harrys folks, Mother & Eds folks went home around 6.  The boys milked.  A nice day after all.  At nite we all went to Argyle.  The rest went to Grange Hall to dance given by G. B. T. Istayed at Marions with kids so they went to dance. Made over $60 at dance.  Nice nite."

            Fri. Dec. 1: "We did not get up very early.  We did up the housework.  We put the dishes away this forenoon. The boys are cleaning up where the old barn fell down last year.  We had dinner. Iam fixing a brown jumper, Marion used to wear for Florence a dress.  Making sleeves and top part out of cloth we got to Falls. The boys worked over around barn again.  A cold, windy day.  The boys did chores.  We had supper. All stayed home at nite. The boys went to bed early. Isowed a little on Florences dress.  Then read some.  Florence read and studied."

            Sat. Dec. 2: "We did up the housework.  Imade ginger snaps.  Then Isowed on Florences dress. Florence made cake.  Busy made pies and brown bead.  The boys worked over around big barn that fell down.  We had dinner. The girls did some things, Busy moped the floor.  The boys were out working around.  Jimmy went down to woods towards W. Hebron and cut some wood.  Johnny listend to football games over radio.  The boys did chores.  We had supper. Both boys went away.  Isowed on Florences dress this afternoon and finished it at nite.  A fair day.  Kinda cold this morning and forenoon, not so cold in afternoon and at nite."

            Sun. Dec. 3: "We did up the housework.  It was cloudy all morning and rained around 9:30 and some most all forenoon.  We all went to church.  The girls stayed for S. S. Iwent up to Mothers. We came home and had dinner. The boys did chores. We all stayed home in afternoon.   The boys did the chores & milked.  We had supper.  Dark all afternoon, did not rain tho.  We all went to Argyle.  Iwent to Marjorys and stayed with the kids, while she went to church with the rest.  It rained at nite. Not very cold tho."

            Mon. Dec. 4: "Raining when we got up and a few flakes of snow.  It finally was all snow, melting.  Florence rode to school with Darflers.  We did up the housework. We mended and the boys chored around and sorted some potatoes.  We had dinner. We mended in the afternoon.  The boys did chores, then took some potatoes to Falls.  They brought Florence home from school.  The boys did chores.  We had supper and all stayed home at nite.  It stopped snowing around noon.  Kinda sloppy.  Cloudy all afternoon but no rain or snow.  Busy made cake in the afternoon.  Imended at nite too."

            Tues. Dec. 5: "We did up the housework.  Johnny took Florence to school.  The boys fixed up the horsebarn and wagon house some.  Ilooked over the green tomatoes and got the good ones ready for chow-chow.  Made pies and chocolate sauce.  We had dinner. Imade escalloped potatoes for supper.  The boys made posts out of telephone poles out to end of house before dinner and in the afternoon they went up in old cow pasture to chop posts.  They got 94 posts.  Around 3 Busy and Iwent to Argyle.  Iwent to Mothers.  Istayed at Marions with kids and Marion and girls went to girls Basketball practice.  We came home.  The boys did chores.  We had supper. The boys went to Basketball Practice.  A cloudy day. no rain but cloudy. Roads terrible muddy."

            Wed. Dec. 6: "We did up the housework.  Jimmy took Florence to school.  It was dark all forenoon and rained hard most of time.  We mended a little.  Imade corn starch pudding.  Johnny didn't do much. We had dinner.  Jim got home about 1:30.  We mended some in afternoon.  Sunshone a little, not so cloudy.  No rain after dinner.  The boys sorted potatoes.  Johnny started the engine.  The boys did chores.  Wind is blowing and a little cooler towards nite.  Florence went to Marjorys after school.  The boys milked.  We had supper. All went to Argyle.  Istayed at Marjorys with the children.. Marjory and Florence went to Grange fair with the boys and Busy. We came home shortly after 10.  But Florence stayed to Marjorys all nite.  Pretty good nite."

            Thurs. Dec. 7: "We did up the housework.  We did a big washing.  The boys went down in woods by Claytons and cut some wood for Mother after Jimmy put a handle in the axe.  We had dinner. The boys chored around and Jimmy drew up Mothers wood, put it out near Mail box.  We did some ironing.  The clothes dried pretty good.  A fair day.  Sunshone a little.  Some clothes left on porch.  Others down and dried, mostly.  The boys did chores.  Imade a cake. The boys milked.  We had supper. We all went to Argyle.  Florence went to Marjorys after school.  Istopped to Mothers.  The boys and Busy went down after Florence and Earl at Marjorys, came up and got me and we all went to Grange Fair.  Took Florence & Earl back to Marjorys to stay all nite.  We came home around 10:30.  Good nite."

            Fri. Dec. 8: "We did up the housework.  Itook down clothes on the porch.  Jimmy drew up some more wood for Mother.  Johnny went over to Liddles and helped some, then Herbie and Johnny brought the saw machine with Johns team.  Herbie went home with team.  Imade pies and cake.  Busy ironed some.  We had dinner. Busy and Ifinished the ironing.  napkins & good table clothes and all.  John L. came up and helped the boys saw Mothers wood.  He went home.  Jimmy split some wood.  Johnny did some work on the Nash.  We put the most of clothes away.  A Cloudy day. The boys did chores. Florence went to Marjorys after school.  The boys milked.  We had supper. We all went to Argyle.  Istayed with Marions kids.  The rest went down to Marjorys after Florence and Marjory.  Marjory, Florence, Busy, Marion, Ed, Johnny, Jimmy went to Grange Fair dance.  Jim took Marjory home.  We came home. Good nite but cold."

            Sat. Dec. 9: "We did up the housework.  Imade cookies and pies.  Busy swept some up stairs.  The boys  split the rest of Mothers wood.  Johnny killed a hen. Busy picked it and Icut it up.  We had a lunch around 1.  Florence & Iwashed dishes.  Busy made cake.  Florence swept kitchen floor and Busy moped.  The boys put the green chunks in the woodshed.  It is getting colder all the time. We had snow flurries today.  Imended socks.  The boys did chores and milked.  We had chicken dinner. We did the dishes.  The boys went away.  Pretty cold today. Windy. Florence has a bad cold."

            Sun. Dec. 10: "zero  We did up the housework.  It is very cold.  We did not go to church.  King seems to be lame/er this morning.  Jim called B. Denning and he said to put a poultice on it, so Jimmy and Johnny put it on after I fixed it.  King corked himself Thanksgiving nite.  We had dinner around 1:30.  Jimmy went away.  Johnny did chores.  We all stayed home.  Johnny milked.  We had supper.  All went to Argyle.  The rest went to church.  Iwent to Mothers.  It has been cold all day."

            Mon. Dec. 11: "zero  We did up the housework.  Florence rode to school with Darflers. The boys sorted potatoes.  We had dinner. Jimmy took a load of potatoes to Glens Falls and traded them out.  Johnny chored around.  We did a few things. The boys did chores and milked.  We had supper. It is cold and wind blows hard and cold.  We all went to Argyle at nite.  Istayed at Marions with the children.  Florence went to Marions after school.  Florence, Marion and Busy went to girls Basketball practice.  We came home around 10.  cold.  Snowed a little this afternoon but wind blew it away."

            Tues. Dec. 12: "6º below zero    We did up the housework.  Jimmy took Florence to school.  The boys sorted potatoes.  Imade pies.  We had dinner.  The boys did some chores, then took some potatoes to Fort Edward.  The boys took a live turkey to Mr. Danahy. 14#. 22¢ a #.  They had several other erands to do.  They came back and brought Florence home from school.  Imade Busy a night gown in afternoon.  The boys did chores and milked.  We had supper. Pretty cold.  The boys went to Basketball practice.  Florence studied.  Imade out an order to sent for some things to Montgomery Wards."

            Wed. Dec. 13: "zero  We did up the housework.  Imade pancakes for breakfast.  Johnny took Florence to school.  He got home around 10.  Then he cleaned spark plugs in Nash and did some work on it.  Jimmy went over in back cow pasture over by Star's and Blance's and cut some brush.  Ifinished making out my order.  Ifixed Jello.  Busy made a cake. We had dinner. The boys did chores.  Istarted working on Florences red dress, making black sleeves and belt.  And Ihelped Busy make Sleeves for her dress.  Johnny went after Florence from school and took a grist.  Jimmy sorted potatoes.  The boys did chores and milked.  We had supper. All stayed home at nite. Cloudy all day. Started snowing this forenoon. And snowed until bed time, kinda fine. About 3 or 4 inches snow. cold."

            Thurs. Dec. 14: "6º below zero   We did up the housework.  Imade pancakes for breakfast.  Johnny took Florence to school.  Then he fixed a tire for the Nash and did some more work on the car. He got home around noon.  In the forenoon Imade cookies and pies.  Busy made brown bread.  Sunshone warm.  Jimmy sorted potatoes.  Iworked on Florences red dress.  We had dinner. Busy washed dishes.  And Iworked on Florences dress.  Busy and finished the sleeves and belt but a little of hers.  And Ifinished Florences all but a little.  Then around 4:30 Busy and Iwent to Argyle.  We stopped to Marions and got Florence.  Then they took me down to Marjorys.  Then Busy and Florence went to Mrs. Hazel Kilmers to there missionary circle.  Very cold. below zero. Jim drew a little manure.  The boys did chores and milked.  Then came to Argyle.  Johnny came down to Marjorys after me.  Icame up to Marions.  I finished the girls dresses down there, had some to do by hand.  The girls came from Kilmers.  They, Johnny and Jim went to dance.  We came home around 1:30.  Florence stayed to Marions all nite. Very cold. 8 below zero."

            Fri. Dec. 15: "zero   We did up the housework.  It began to sleet and hail and rained.  We had dinner. The boys did chores.  Then Ed came up with the brockway. he, Jimmy and Johnny loaded Grandmas wood in truck.  Ed went down with the wood around 3:30.  The boys went down with Jimmys car.  They left the wood on the truck in town barn.  The boys did some errands.  Then brought Florence and Teresa from school.  Johnny started the engine.  Imended the blanket on Johnnys bed.  The boys did chores.  It hailed or sleeted some in forenoon, then quit.  But when they were nearly thru loading wood it began again.  And did every few minutes.  Cloudy.  We had supper.  All stayed home at nite.  Stormed some at nite.  not very cold tho. Rain froze on."

            Sat. Dec. 16: "We did up the housework.   Imade pancakes and mixed bread.  The boys went to Argyle.  Jim took some potatoes to Glens Falls.  Johnny and Eddie unloaded the wood at Mothers  they took down yesterday.  Florence washed her head.  Imade pies and sent an order to Sears.  Florence & I washed some clothes.  Busy swept some.  The boys came home and brought Eddie up with them. We cooked beans.  We had dinner.  Imade a cake and baked bread.  Igot my order from M. & Wards. Florence swept kitchen floor and Busy moped it.  Florence ironed some.  Jimmy drew some manure.  Johnny and Eddie and Jimmy fixed the pump.  The girls and Eddie froze ice cream.  The boys did chores.  We had supper. Jimmy went away and took Eddie home.  Johnny went to Argyle and played B. B. Glens Falls won 30-28.  Very icy and slippery A. M. Sunshone. Thawing P.M."

            Sun. Dec. 17: "We did up the housework.  Not very cold but cloudy.  Busy went away.  Jimmy stayed home.  Johnny, Florence and Iwent to church.  Florence stayed for Sabbath School.  Iwent up the Mothers. When we got home Marjory, Laurence and kids were here.  Jim had dinner ready.  We had dinner. Johnny went away.  Laurence went home.  Jimmy did chores.  Busy got home around 5:30.  Jimmy milked.  We had supper. All went to Argyle.  Marj took kids and we went to church to Christmas pagent.  We took Marjory and kids home.  Cloudy and rained around 4 and at nite.  Icy as it freezes on."

            Mon. Dec. 18: "We did up the housework.  Florence rode to school with Darflers.  We did the washing.  The boys sorted potatoes.  We had dinner. In the afternoon Imade Roland a pair of rompers.  Busy did the ironing all but Iironed a suit we washed for Ray.  His blue suit to wear out doors.  2 piece, Minnie gave it to him.  The wind blew hard so the clothes all got dry.  The boys sorted potatoes and did chores.  Jim drew some manure.  Johnny went to McK's after the scales.  The boys milked, we had supper.  Jimmy weighed and tied up the bags of potatoes.  Florence stayed to Marions after school.  At nite Johnny, Busy and Iwent to Argyle.  Istayed at Marions with the kids, she, Florence and Busy went to B. B. Practice.  Florence stayed to Marions all nite.  Nice day, windy, sunshone warm."

            Tues. Dec. 19: "We did the housework.  Imixed bread.  The boys sorted potatoes.  Imade chocolate cookies and pies, also sponge cake.  We had dinner. Imade Roland a pair of rompers.  Then  Istarted to make Lois some night dresses.  Igot my order of things from Sears today.  One thing was some cloth for a comfortable for Marion, Busy sowed it together.  The boys finished sorting the potatoes and tied them up.  100 bushel for Dave Black. Mr. Lundburg came along and stayed awhile.  Jim drew some manure.  Johnny went after Florence from school.  The boys did chores and milked.  We had supper. Jimmy went away.  A pleasant day.  Not very cold.  Ice and snow all gone but in shady places.  At nite Isowed on Lois night dresses."

            Wed. Dec. 20: "We did up the housework.  Johnny took Florence to school.  We weighed the turkeys.  We had dinner early.  Johnny, Busy and Iwent to Glens Falls and took the turkeys alive   4.  old gobbler 17¢ lb.; 3 hen turkeys. 19¢ a pound.  Stopped at Argyle after Florence to go with us.  We got home around 6.  Jim stayed home and drew manure.  It was cloudy in forenoon.  Before we left Glens Falls it was raining and freezing on.  Very slippery. The boys did chores, we had supper.  Jim stayed home.  The rest of us went to Argyle to church to Christmas tree. Sunday School Tree.  Johnny went some where else.  We went to Marjorys. Florence stayed all nite to Marjorys all nite.  Snowed about 6 inches.  We run out of gas coming home."

            Thurs. Dec. 21: "We did up the housework.  We put the cloth, cotton batten and cloth on comfortable sticks to tie a comfortable for Marion.  We put it on but did not tie it before dinner.  Imade a cake. Busy made apple sauce.  We had dinner.  Then we tied the comfortable.  Johnny took Ed Starr to N. Argyle.  Jim drew some manure.  We made escalloped potatoes.  The boys did chores.  Florence stayed to Marjorys after school.  We all went to Argyle.  Istayed to Marjorys with the kids.  Marjory and rest went to church to C. U. Christmas Tree.  Hazel and George were to Marjorys awhile.  Florence stayed to Marjorys all nite.  Busy and Icame home with Jimmy.  Good day. cold. 4 in. snow"

            Fri. Dec. 22: "We did up the housework.  Imade pies.  Busy and Itied on the comfortable.  Jim drew manure.  Johnny sorted some potatoes.  We had dinner. The boys dressed turkeys.  3.   old gobbler for Garry. A young turkey for P. Burgess. And an old turkey for Ed Mac E.  Dave Black took 21 (100 lb bags) of potatoes.  Then Jim took the turkeys to Argyle and brought Florence, Teresa and Johnny McK. home from school.  Earl came up too.  Ifinished tieing Marions comfortable.  Johnny went to lower place and got a pine Christmas Tree.  Busy swept in the sitting room.  They set up Christmas Tree.  Busy made a cake.  The boys did chores.  We had supper.  Marj, Laurence and Lois came up.  We all went to school District house to Christmas Tree. Earl stayed here all nite.  Fair day only cold."

            Sat. Dec. 23: "We did up the housework.  We all went to Glens Falls.  Johnny took potatoes to Fort Edward.  We took Earl home.  Busy and Florence came home with Johnny.  We got home around 4.  The boys did chores.  We had supper. Imade some doll clothes.  Then Idid some stitch around Marions comfortable.  Jimmy went away.  A very good day.  Sunshone. not so cold."

            Sun. Dec. 24: "We did up the housework.  We all went to church, then S. S. or a pagent.  We came up to Marions and Mothers awhile.  We came home and had dinner. We wrapped up Christmas presents.  The boys did chores.  We had supper.  All went to Argyle.  Florence has a bad cold so her and Istayed to Marions and Grandmas.  The rest went to church.  They sang Christmas Carols. came to Mothers.  We came home.  A cloudy warm day, rained hard at nite."

            Mon. Dec. 25: "Kinda cold, snow nearly gone, but very icy.  Igot up around 6 and mixed bread.  Busy moped kitchen floor.  We had breakfast, then looked at our Christmas Presents.  We made ice cream, Imade cake and chocolate sauce, dressing, escalloped corn.  Icooked pork.  The boys went down after Mother.  They got home around 11:30.  The boys froze Ice cream.  We had dinner around 1.  We washed dishes.  The boys did chores.  The boys did the milking.  Jimmy went away.  Busy went away.  Johnny, Florence and Itook Mother home and went to Hudson Falls to the show.  'Footlight Parade'.  Kinda cold and icy.  Busy stayed to Marions all nite."

            Tues. Dec. 26: "We did up the housework.  We washed out some clothes by hand.  The boys sorted potatoes.  We had dinner. The boys went down to Howard Mahaffys in the afternoon.  It snowed hard all day.   Isowed some.  The boys did chores and milked.  We had supper.  All stayed home at nite.  Still snowing.  About 10 inches of snow. Cold."

            Wed. Dec. 27: "We did up the housework.  We washed out some clothes by hand.  There is a foot or more of snow.  Cold.  The wind is blowing and drifting some.  The boys sorted potatoes.  We had dinner.  In the afternoon the boys took a grist to Argyle, got groceries and brought Busy home from Marions.  The snow is drifting quite a lot.  The boys did chores and milked.  We had supper. All stayed home at nite.  Wind has gone down after dark."

            Thurs. Dec. 28: "zero  We did up the housework.  Imade pancakes for breakfast.  Imade pies.  The boys did chores and sorted potatoes.  We had dinner. The wind is blowing, some this afternoon. The boys did chores.  Imended some.  Imade a chocolate pie.  Florence still has a bad cold.  The boys milked.  It snowed and blowed some after dark. We had supper. Wind went down and stopped snowing.  The boys went away.  Cold but nice. Moonlight. Wind started blowing again When we went to bed."

            Fri. Dec. 29: "25 º below zero     We got up and got fires going as it is very cold.  Istarted fire in parlor.  Johnny lite the oil stove down cellar.  Imade ginger snaps and mixed bread.  Florence & Icracked butternuts.  Jimmy took some potatoes to Glens Falls before dinner. We had dinner. Ibaked bread.  Johnny did chores.  The boys put horses over to cow stable this morning.  Jimmy came home around 5 o'clock.  Imended some.  The boys did chores and milked.  We had supper.   All stayed home at nite. Very still and cold all day.  Below zero all day.  Coldest day in years.  25 degrees below zero after supper and about bed time.  We run engine at nite. Oil stove burned down cellar all nite."

            Sat. Dec. 30: "25º below zero.  We did up the housework.  Jimmy drew manure and Johnny chored around.  Imade pies.  We had dinner. Florence and Iwashed dishes.  Busy swept and mopped the kitchen floor. Imade a cake.  Jimmy drew manure.  Johnny chored around and fixed a tire on nash.  The boys did chores."  (Florence's handwriting) "The boys got the teams out to get the car started.  Johnny helped milk & Jimmy did the rest of chores.  Johnny went away & Busy went down to Marion's to keep the kids while Marion & Ed went away.  She stayed all nite.  Its warming up some.  About 10º below zero."

            Sun. Dec. 31.  We did up the housework.  We did not go to church.  Robert Mahaffy preached.  Jimmy went away in the forenoon.  Toward night Florence helped Johnny to start the car.  After that Ed, Marion & kids brought Busy home.  Jimmy did not come home to help with chores.  Ed helped Johnny milk. They stayed for supper. Lester was here for supper. Ed, Marion, & kids went home after supper. Johnny went away.  It was quite a lot warmer this morning.  Thermometer was 5º above & kept going up all day.  It rained hard in the nite.  It was 30º above at bedtime.  We kept the radio on and listened to the severice where they watched the old year out and new year in."
